After earlier technical issues we are joined now by our cbs reporter live in Salt Lake City to break down last nights events. Good morning. Reporter good morning to you. There were some sharp exchanges right away between the two candidates over the coronavirus pandemic. They then clashed over other issues like the economy, taxes, Supreme Court, and whether there was justice in the case for breonna taylor. The debate last night looked different from what we have seen before. Thats because the candidates were sitting 12 feet apart and behind plexiglas barriers. The coronavirus pandemic was center stage coming amid ongoing coronavirus outbreak at the white house. However, when the candidates were asked about that line of succession, both avoided answering the question. The Supreme Court was also a big topic especially since senator harris is on the judiciary committee. Reporter it was a big topic of discussion last night. We saw Vice President pence basically ask Kamala Harris a couple times if Biden Administration would try to expand seats on the Supreme Court. She did not answer that question. Thank you. Something you probably noticed last night, the tone was much different than that of last weeks president ial debate. Our political analyst melissa caen breaks down the calmer approach. Each candidate both gave good sort of aggressive offensive statements and also absorbed the other side pretty well. For example, Kamala Harris of course, a former prosecutor as we know, went after mike pence on a number of issues with the Trump Administration and he, in his very calm way that he does project, sort of took those comments in and sort of calmly responded and neither side was able to get the other side really railed.
