Reporter Frankie Myers is a member of the yurok tribe, native americans who for 10,000 years have been tied to the Klamath River and the abundant salmon that once swam through it. Without salmon in the river, theres no need for yurok people to be here. They generated power that fueled western expansion but decimated the salmon population, which could no longer swim upstream to spawn. Once the dams are completely removed, native salmon populations are expected to return, and seeds are now being spread to regrow plants on land around here decades ago.
