Look at this officers in walnut creek used tear gas on protesters after a more peaceful protests became more tense and violent protesters even marched on 6. 80 chp and other agencies used rubber bullets and tear gas to disperse crowds arrests have been made since these protests are expected to continue the Contra Costa County board of supervisors will decide today if a county wide curfew is going to be needed for now the sheriff has been recommending residents stay at home, especially after 8 oclock as we know its all a bunch of cities in Contra Costa County already have their own curfew including more on that now in walnut creek which is going to be in effect again tonight at 8 oclock as we continue to follow these developments stay tuned to the kron 00 04am morning news and of course a website kron 4 dot com. Im live mullock creek Sarah Stinson back to. All right sir, thanks a lot for that live report robin. Were also following developments out of richmond this morning where police say looters and vandals targeted at the hilltop mall. This is what Richmond Police tweeted out last night police say that there was originally information about a shooting at the mall in an officer being injured but those reports were false. Another big story that were following for you this morning out of San Francisco protests remained largely peaceful throughout monday. But about 100 people were arrested in oakland last night, lets check in with kron fours will tran who is live this morning in San Francisco with updates will. I can tell you robin even though the curfew lifted 2 hours ago, there is a heavy Police Presence all 3 San Francisco. They keep it rolling. Union square and other neighborhoods throughout San Francisco just to keep the peace and apparently its working because so far they have not given us numbers in the overnight hours as far as arrests and thats pretty good news because on sunday to monday they told us how many people were arrested lets go to oakland. Thats where we saw the major arrests taking place in the overnight hours and actually started off very peacefully thousands of people gather clint act this was organized by activists. In person as well as on social media and they turned out and it was peaceful. They told people after it was over marched to the Oakland Police department neighbor followed by the officers from the Police Department as well as other agencies part of mutual aid everything was fine. But then oquinn like other cities in the bay area they too have a curfew and once that curfew kicked in a lot of people went home others did not and thats when the Oakland Police officers they moved in and started making arrests just to make sure that people broke up that they werent paying around a possibly causing the violence and destruction and to obey the law thats now in effect 80 people were arrested for Unlawful Assembly as well as not paying attention to the curfew 20 others were arrested for unrelated charges. Good news is were not hearing of any major damage to any of the property in oakland or anybody hurt from last nights protest as far as San Francisco also very peaceful overall it actually started with a celebrity in town this is at San Francisco city hall at around 11 oclock in the morning when actor activist jamie foxx he was in town to speak to the crowd. He of course was joined by San Francisco mayor london breed who said she is also in solidarity with the protesters said she too is angry about what happened to george floyd in 2 wanted to remind people that before she was mayor of course she is an africanamerican woman and fully is aware of whats going on with the injustices with the Police Department. Pertaining to African Americans but she did remind them that she had a job to do and that job is to protect San Francisco lives and property. All in all it seems like both cities pretty much safe as far as nice and stay safe, but pretty much peaceful in the overnight hours. But you can clearly see the windows are still boarded up people are still cleaning and i would anticipate robin marty those the boards are not coming down any time soon just in case any unrest happens in the future. But there is a heavy Police Presence, no doubt about it back to you all right, thank you all marty. All right, lets go ahead and get the forecast because thats another big story on this tuesday some spots are going to see close to triple digits. What are now todays far to get more on the forecast. Still be plenty warm today though we are closer inspection of all that coming up in just a bit marty all right dave thanks a lot. In San Francisco. What began as peaceful protests turned into rioting and looting at one cannabis shop, at least 10,000 with the product was stolen kron fours jason demoss has more on that devastating and stephanie are accused with of course were not the only business that got robbed, but i just i still dont really understand black on businesses that are being targeted some time. Our that our been affected by you know. But by 6 races like this june first was supposed to be the day that donaldson and his partners launched the Compassion Program where he planned to donate product to hiv positive in low income San Francisco residents but the robbery has put that program on pause, i honestly think that theres a bunch of people who. Or take advantage of the situation and decided to go on robison its its disgraceful honestly. Donaldson says the unrest that we are seen throughout the city now could have all been avoided another this is all institutionalized over hundreds of years, this is the way that. African americans and minorities know how to be heard this is the only way that we know to be heard. My thing is just. I just hate that that that you have to happen that way you know its its taken. Its taken this a very to for this to you know. Now start to be heard even end are still hasnt been any action against its in San Francisco, im jason dumas kron 4 news. Well to the east bay more than 70 new cars were stolen from a san leandro dodge dealership as looting and destruction hit the city sunday night, the owner of the dealership says the looting began across the street at the Marina Square shots. And then at around 7. 30 people made their way to the dealership and then by 10 it started driving off of cars nearly million worth of brand new cars. Dealership owner Carlos Hidalgo he says that looters broke into the building and found the save holding the car keys and then they use some of those cars. She just rammed through the vehicles blocking access to the driveway. And this was sam and last night. So nobody could come out so they had about 5 hours of in the dealership was a war so i came in and i got in here and that they had tear gas and you know there were. Cars crashed everywhere. It was bad and 70 plus cars are missing. While so far the dealership recovered about 20 cars. And theyve hired new Armed Security guards to watch the dealership at night. Well to the north and now a curfew will remain in place for the next few nights to curb overnight violence after some businesses were hit hard over the weekend, one of them was santa rosa restaurant cafe the business was already struggling because of the shelter in place. But now the Restaurant Owner says that he has to clean up about 30,000 worth of damage. Well be able to fix it, you know, theyre just windows. Just loss at the end of the day. Honestly i get it i whats going on i understand why its going on, but i did the cause the destruction is not the answer. Well tell us says that his business wasnt the only one that was hit, but he says that he forgives those who threw rocks. And on the kron 4 morning news a south bay county is easing restrictions allowing for more distance is a centrist reopen well break down the updated stay at home order coming up. Plus the city of san jose is working to clean up after a series of protests. What the mayor is doing to bring people together. And a look outside at the Golden Gate Bridge where we have plenty of sun we are warming up today its going nice sunny with highs in the 80s welcome back everyone the time is 7. 12 good morning and thanks for waking up with us lets check in with dave spahr and see how the weather is going to shape up weve really been enjoying this lovely california sunshine dave. Well it could be getting quite hot robin a little bit of the teeth are showing up for our eyes, its going to feel like a little bit like summer looks like today tomorrow before things start to back off of the springlike weather as well. A beautiful shots we have all over the place going on here the shot coming in from u c berkeley. As we see the sun come up over the east bay hills little bit of haze off towards the distance as well, Golden Gate Bridge look at the blue skies and some bicyclists on their way up there. On the way up to him or it looks like 2 as well not much the way of a breeze either just against a decent shot all right so our temperatures thus far were at 67 for antioch 63 per conquered the layover at 60 for 59 for napa and 55 ford abbado mostly 50s and 60s game now that Half Moon Bay has joined us into the 50s a zone comparison sake out now. Were a little ahead of where we were this time from yesterday. Were probably going to see that continue throughout much of the day because temperatures are going to be a lot warmer today than they were from yesterday. The formalities of the way here we have the heat advisory which is technically in effect for tomorrow bay area wide. For today through thursday Central Valley is looking at this thing. Inland his expected to be in the 90s of the coast around the 70s but exhaustion and heat stroke. Just little caution throughout the day there, San Francisco is deliberately not in that this advisory for today, weve got mostly sunny and warming with upper 90s expected. Again that heat advisory for wednesday with near 100 expected inland. 70s cover the coast and then 80s 90s around the bay. This weekend. Its a really quick change that we have cooling and might see a shower trying to sneak in here. This doesnt last very long in actually feel somewhat downright chilly may happen at the coast with all this going on as well. Meanwhile all this is going on as it is summertime weather. We have something that happens in the summer its a tropical system to make note of this one finally in season is a tropical depression number 3 continue to watch this at the baof campeche e. And to see if anything develops there yucatan peninsula. You can see its nearby, its and really warm waters of the gulf of mexico like that in these things and sometimes springlike pretty quickly expected to become a Tropical Storm but well keep an eye on it to see exactly what it does become one. Today 79 expected for San Francisco, 86 for oakland 92 coming in for san jose. Across the greater real estate, lots of blood red to dish out there in the north bay as well the south bay. Were looking at 90s over covering most of the real estate upper 90s that that off towards the delta. And the pe insula along the coast. Well 70s already 79 for San Francisco expect more of that to come tomorrow. Coming up in a bit well have of course a look at your 4 zone forecast and see that extended on there to try to eyeball any chance of rain coming our way which they happened by the weekend. Robin back to thank you dave. We are back to being hot spot free just not free. Of the slow traffic, lots of it heading into San Francisco this morning. So if you need to use westbound 80 yes prepare for a wait at the toll plaza, its spilling back to the end of the Administration Parking lot there. But this is becoming our new normal as things slowly get back to normal as more of your heading back to work so thats why we have these backups during the 7 oclock hour into San Francisco, its mostly right here on the oakland side behind the pay gates, so once you are about halfway up the incline closer to the tunnel, its going to thin out and get better youre only at 14 minutes and thats still a good drive into San Francisco, 92 looks better. We had a big backup on the nimitz which delayed folks getting on to 92 so our hot spot in hayward is gone traffic is still crowded on 92, but its not bad, its only on the flat section up and over the high rise, its moved into foster city and send the tail its trouble free. When you put it all together its only 12 minutes to make it off to one on one. We have not seen a backup all morning at the richmond sandra fell its easy and smooth and to the north bay and checking that comme from the north bay to San Francisco. As i looked at map here. I dont see any problems through nevado sandra phil larkspur mill valley sausalito so were right on time 22 minutes nevado to the toll plaza party. All right robin well as the second night of curfews took place in the south bay. There were still signs of emotions, theyre running very high kron fours rob fladeboe has the latest on that. The fire you see burning is from inside the davis street walmart in san leandro one of 2 fires that erupted at that location. The first one at 11 00pm was held in check by sprinklers until Alameda County fire arrived to put it out its consider suspicious as is the second fire which broke out around midnight and people were seen running away that second blaze was more destructive as it caused some propane tanks to explode although thankfully no one was injured, many windows were shattered at the mayfair mall which was hard hit by looters. You can see inside one cleaning store where a worker says they were mostly cleared out the thieves also getting the merchandise in the store room that same employee tells me that at around 4. 30 sunday evening. He saw approximately 4 vans filled with officers here the parking lot by 9 oclock he says he got a call from his Alarm Company letting them know. The damage had been done lots of construction workers were on hand covering up the broken windows and doors with plywood one told me he believes. 30 stores inside the mall were hit with maybe 2 or 3 being spared one woman who came by to inspect the destruction firsthand was disgusted by what she saw tired of. The secure some stuff underneath here and thats why we saw them go back behind basically when they smashed this they pushed it pushed the do at the door open and started pounding to protest to speak out and i think thats an important right that we have and that we should exercise that peacefully and i think theres a a separate group that rides on the coattails of that and use that as an opportunity to create chaos. Well police say that its still too early in the investigation to see if there was any connection to other looting incidents that happened during other protests in the bay area.
