That would also breaking out yesterday that one so far 600 acres in size lets go out and see then how these crews are doing Sarah Stinson is live in Alameda County at the marsh fire. Will tran is in napa county at the hennessy fire will lets start with you. Right now im at a checkpoint in you can see the chp officer right behind me as far as his car. This is as far as he is allowing. Anybody through this area unless its Law Enforcement or firefighters, im on Chiles Valley road. The officer tells me he has not seen anybody leave. This particular area which means that the evacuees there either gone or they have decided to stay inside their home despite the fire being very close to their location in fact let me quickly show you. Julius evans will move the camera over here you can see the officer has been very busy as some people are looking to continue to go down this path will pick up the camera and you can see he is speaking to the driver saying for their safety there are not allowed to go any further then this is at this location at chiles pope valley. And pope canyon intersection now lets get to the video this fire started really quickly. They dont know the cause of the fire but they do know there were lightning strikes. Early monday morning more than likely was caused by lightning. Just like all the other 60 fires in the bay area that they also suspect was caused by lightning it quickly spread through this area to the point where at 11 oclock yesterday morning. They decided to tell the People Get Ready to evacuate because this fire was quickly moving through rugged remote areas of napa county. Then at 11 oclock a lot of people started gathering their items darya and james unfortunately theyve had a lot of practice in this particular area, especially with all the wildfires that weve seen over the past several years, many people fled their homes are either staying at friends right nearby community centers. We got a chance to actually talk to one of the evacuees. He says unfortunately this is all been too common for them. World is prepared for a fire early prepare every year we we fire safer. Our structures we prepare and buildings and when things like this happen we just execute our plan to to keep it as safe end free from fires we can. The fires can be overwhelming and he just got to do the best you can. As far as my location i could feel the heat picking up right now there is a haze off in the distance in fact if we can show the camera there. The sun is rising, so you can clearly see light is being mixed with that the smoky conditions breathing not too bad at my current location, i know the fires just right down the road and that firefighters and the Police Officers they need all the room that they can possibly need and that is why they are setting up this checkpoint, right now were not hearing of any fatalities but we are hearing reportedly that one structure was destroyed by the lake hennessy fire in james, the gamble fire is right next door, so let me send it back to you yeah, lets get people updated on that thank you very much, well as i mentioned 2 fires burning. Let you know if Evacuation Orders are issued 300 firefighters currently working lines right there trying to get it under control. So lets continue our coverage now on the field and go to sara stinson who is in Alameda County where the marsh fire is burning sarah. Daria im live here off of calaveras road right near the seminole regional wilderness area and its clear that firefighters are having a hard time containing this fire because it is still 0 contained were heading into the 3rd day of this fire behind me you can see a charred hill of course its very dark still, but you can see thats all black charred land and then a lot of different hot spots is what were looking at all charred take a look at video though of during daylight you can see those flames raging on the hillsides here in this wilderness area. It is burned 1775 acres thats the last number we got from cal fire and that was nearly 24 hours ago so hopefully we can get an update this morning. The fire consists of 3 separate grass fires that broke out sunday afternoon in the area of calaveras road and welsh creek road again this is near the signal. Regional wilderness area and there has been mandatory evacuations that remain in place for those who do live on welsh creek road residents living in a remote area along kill care road were told to evacuate monday as the fire threatened their homes, those residents have been able to safely return but the fire continues to rage in this area. So additionally, an evacuation warning has been ordered for those who live in kill care canyon in signal. This was first issued as a mandatory Evacuation Order and has since been downgraded, we did catch up with a few residents to see how theyre feeling obviously if you live in the bay area you live in one of these remote areas you are accustomed to fire season. Its part of being in the woods, you and they all of us are ready all the time. At least hopefully everybodys ready not over which still got a good ways to go. Im thankful to god and the Fire Department that were were safe and sound now. Any residents are listening or watching a shelter has been opened for evacuees at the residence inn located at 5200 wolf house road in livermore so that will be helpful as people you know have that go bag ready because winds can change situation can change and firefighters are still troubled struggling to get any containment on this fire at all this morning, im not seeing any you know a huge flame us again its been very dark so this morning will be live to show you what it looks like out here and hopefully well get an update from cal fire sometime around 7 7830 thats what im expecting as thats whats happened about 24 hours from now. Is more than 1400 acres near mount diablo there are mandatory evacuations for some people and its also advisable to get rid of some livestock at them out of the area and Evacuation Center is worried about the animals. Were still getting full of people who think we should go. Yeah accusation ordered its not mandatory shut out. It made its animals out in during a stay home stay home at animals on beltway. The last minute. So far the good news is nobody has been hurt and no structures damaged. Well fire burning in Monterey County is now threatening 30 structures cal fire says the river fire has burned nearly 400 acres near salinas. Only about 10 contained right now. 4 firefighters had to be treated for heat related injuries. This fire is also caused they think by the lightning that we saw sunday morning Governor Newsom has secured a Fire Management Assistance Grant from fema. But well have to wait and see so far futures trading this morning has been somewhat positive so well keep an eye on the numbers. Well see where they all go. Wake up to that every my for that sounds i much prefer the weather. But not if i have to hear the bad news more heat. Just a wakeup to be telling you the forecast came out a way to get anybody yet because more heat is in the forecast. Some definite temperatures that are not going to be comfortable again today, excessive heat warnings remain in effect across the bay area as daytime highs climb now this morning, San Francisco as well as the rest of the bay is actually nice and cool were starting off the morning in the 60s and 70s cat out there enjoy it now that the sun is coming up a little bit more you can step outside stretch those legs just enjoy a cool field to the morning before daytime highs do get really hot. Dangerous heat returns, almost all the bay area blanketed in these excessive heat warnings well into the afternoon and into tomorrow too. The only exceptions the immediate coastline and then San Francisco itself. We will still see daytime highs above 100 degrees in many areas, but something were not going to see today any thunderstorms that potential has shifted further to the north and so today we really calm things down just not cooling things off just yet. Todays daytime highs still triple digits for a lot of areas conquered in antioch each at a 106 degrees livermore Morgan Hill Napa and santa rosa all checking in above the century mark hayward oakland, San Francisco back to the 80s while fremont mill valley into the 90s so i got to stress this enjoy the morning as much as you can partly cloudy skies and a lot so heat by the afternoon upper 80s to 90s by the bay. Triple digits. I mentioned for for the state land valleys. Daria. Thanks a lot john lets get to the breaking news, the fires 4 big ones burning in the east bay and the north bay this morning. It looks like they were all sparked by lightning. Lets zoom in on a map so you can see better where they are starting to sound work our way up this is the marsh creek fire the marsh fire burning in the sun il regional wilderness, aaron Alameda County right were border Santa Clara County broke out yesterday. And a growing still out of control. Dear zone fires, those are the ones burning on the back side of mount diablo they also broke out yesterday and are also burning out of iontrol as are the 2 wildfires that were tracking in the north bay. The hennessy fire which exploded in size yesterday more than 2500 acres in size and then to the north the gamble fire thats one burning up near Lake Berryessa that one is 600 acres so far and containment is still set at 0 . Lets go to our Team Coverage then weve got will tran in napa county Sarah Stinson Alameda County. Sara were going to start with you tell us about the latest with the marsh fire. The march complex fire is still burning in daria it remains at 0 contained hopefully that number will go up as we get an update from cal fire this morning. I want to show you now that were getting more light out here actually moved to a spot. I was at yesterday right on calaveras road here is the road and here is this land and they stopped the fire from getting to the road jumping the road and then continuing to burn the land over there that was the goal yesterday when i was here. I left here about 9. 30 fire crews are still remaining on scene keeping an eye on this. They were here yesterday scrambling they drove up the road and tried to stop the fire that was raging up here. Some major flames and it was approaching the road they were able to stop it so that was a Success Story that i can show you. Firefighters are working really hard to be able to contain this fire take a look at video from yesterday this is day 3 of this fire continuing to rage the marsh complex fire. And it remains burning 1775 acres again that could change as we get an update from cal fire. But the far consists of 3 different grass fires. Theyve named it the marsh complex fire broke out sunday afternoon in the area of calver calaveras road and welsh creek road there was mandatory evacuations that remain in place for those who live on welsh creek road. Residents living in a remote area along kilker road were told to evacuate monday as the fire threatened their homes a scary situation. Those residents have been able to reach to return to their home safely. But the fire continues to rage in this area. I did just talk to a man he works for the San Francisco department of water they have a treatment plan out here is randomly i mean because you know the hetch hetchy runs through here. Told me that the fire continues to rage up by that Treatment Plant that is a major concern. So there are active flames. I know it can confirm that with you guys but im i dont think ill have cell phone service. Im not sure well be able to show you that life but i can go check it out additionally an evacuation warning has been ordered for those who live in kill care canyon in seminole this was first issued as a mandatory Evacuation Order and has since been downgraded now for those of you who live in the area shelter has been opened for evacuees at the residence inn located at 5200 wolf house road in livermore between the outlets and in the gulf range, we know that this fire they believe at least of started from lightning strikes so in the meantime you can see a cal fire with their trucks here theres of firefighters from all over the east bay specifically in Alameda County yesterday. Its a berkeley Fremont Hayward all out here working to contain its unclear if they made any progress overnight. I expect to get an update sometime within the next hour to 2 hours so stay tuned if you live in the area, well keep you informed as soon as we learn more for now im live in near son ul Sarah Stinson kron 4 news, thanks. A lot sarah and they are busy in the east bay with another fire to the deer zone. Fire in Contra Costa County has grown to 1400 acres now this one is burning near mount diablo and there are mandatory evacuations. 4 people theres also been some confusion about livestock and one emergency Evacuation Organization says. If they tell you its a good thing to remove your animals you should. Were still getting full of people who think we should go. Yeah accusation ordered its not mandatory shut out. It made its animals out in during the stay home stay home at animals dont dont wait for last minute. The good news is nobody has been hurt and so far no structures have burned. Well now we want to continue our Team Coverage of the breaking news by going over to will tran hes up in the north bay keeping our eye on napa county where the hand of 2 fires burning this morning and will of the 2 this is the much bigger one. Thats right. I mean its 2400 acres and counting because we do expect an update from cal fire in the next hour or so its right next door to the gamble fire which i know you will talk about just a few moments. You can see james the chp officer right behind me the lake hennessy fire is about 10 miles or so from my location. This is as close as theyre allowing anybody to get to that fire unless youre a first responder, im on chiles pope valley and pope canyon intersection. They are telling me they havent seen anybody leave this area from the top of the hill down meaning where the people live because they have all been evacuated. Theyre making sure that people do not get hurt or even worse killed by this fire. Let me show you video it was almost 24 hours ago when this fire started they dont know the cause of the fire but they do know that they were lightning strikes in the area at the time at first it grew to dozens of acres and then exploded to 600 acres and then it exponentially exploded to 2400 acres. To where they had to tell people to get ready to evacuate at around 11 oclock in the morning. So about 4 and a half hours after the fire started thats just to show you how quickly the fire spread through this area that they told People Get Ready to go and in fact they encourage people strongly encourage people to get out of this location because their lives could be in jeopardy and a lot of people they have their belongings prepared because theyve been through this unfortunately for the past several years with fires in napa county and right next door Mendocino County fortunately were not hearing of any injuries or any fatalities, reportedly one structure did go up in flames as far as the cause of the fire still under investigation. But we do know that it was flat last check 0 containment and again cal fire james and area they usually have an updated around 7, 7, 30 in the morning. You Better Believe they have as many firefighters as they can possibly throw at this fire because right now this appears to be the biggest fire at least in the north bay or in the bay area at this particular time back to you. Was secure time were having this heat wave in so tough yeah absolutely now will that theres the other fire the gamble fire burning in napa county. So lets quickly update you on the situation there. This is the one burning up near Lake Berryessa there and various a knoxville road. 600 acres in size. And so far containment is still set at 0 again we are looking for an update from cal fire potentially in the next half hour or so. So well see if those containment numbers have gone up any right now more than 300 firefighters are currently battling that fire. Right now theres a power alert in effect until tomorrow they are telling us the state is that if we dont conserve. We might see the lights go out. Theres a warning that this could happen from 3 to 10 00pm every day theyre saying thats when youre really need to conserve and consumers need to be prepared for an outage if were not able to save enough electricity so what theyre saying is set the ac if you have it pretty high 78 degrees or higher. Keep lights off the fridge or 8 or full just in case and closed. Everything charged up and ready in case the power goes out. Thats what i did not even but amazon yea oneday a little battery charger things so i could power a fan or whatever because let me tell you. If and when you do lose power in this heat, it is not fun, not even to have a. A lot of bay area people are in the in the eye of these rolling blackouts in one san jose neighborhood. Still they have no power 25 homes in the sales area have been without power. A look see that one since sunday night. Neighbors got a message from pg and e that the crews will be coming out to fix it in nobody showed up people down the road. Along there in that neighborhood. Theyve gone. So long an underground transformer failed. And theyre frustrated with the lack of communication. Were just trying to anticipate the power does go out again where our kids go to school because we need internet for them to participate in their School Classes we live in a rich California Country that. You know these outages shouldnt happen so theres something wrong and i as clients to pg and e. Paying our bills each or do something you know some type of response. I sometimes just just to any kind power would be great people are using as you can see generators, whatever they have got the heat and as we talked about theyre trying to do Online School with the kids. Its making for not a fun situation is not dangerous to james yeah, no kidding. And Governor Newsom by the way also demanding an investigation into this latest round of power shut off so were seeing across the state the governor sent a letter to the california emergency. Our Energy Commission and the Public Utilities commission along with cal iso with concerns that the and shut offs over the weekend happened without prior warning really didnt give folks enough time to prepare. But leaders of cal iso say that they did consistently warned the Public Utilities commission that this could happen saying the situation could have been avoided. We will lay out in detail, the terms. What were going to do to make sure this simply doesnt happen again see now the grid operators. And we tell me the regulatory authorities how the grid operates. People to do a lot of Different Things i guess what i have to do a better job of making our voices heard through all of that. Newsome also signed a proclamation allowing utilities and other energy users to use backup sources. Amid this record heat wave thats really just scalding the state right now. Still ahead. Several states are considering a lawsuit against the Postal Service will tell you why some attorneys general claimed recent changes for secretly designed to slow down Services Ahead of election day. And a little refresher on just how hot its going to be today triple digits do return for a whole lot of the bay area. Like our inland east, various parts of the south 6. 45 right now taking a look at the weather and how. When will it end they had john when the question were all asking right now for sure guys and it does look like after today we are going to see at least has some backing off the gas pedal on the he a few degrees. Still going to be hot not as hot though so positivity there looking outside at the Golden Gate Bridge this morning skies are pretty clear you do have some high clouds but definitely no streaming through the golden gate to start the day Something Else were getting rid of today that thunderstorm potential that is passing to our west and to our north you can actually make out that line of clouds that had formerly been streaming a little closer to the bay area and bringing us enough unsettled weather to be seeing thunderstorm activity that now for the north coast of the state bay area backs off of that were just keeping the heat around for yet another day futurecast shows you the dry picture that we do have ahead of us for your tuesday, few clouds here and there but otherwise a pretty sunny and dry one in addition to our hot temperatures. Tomorrow, another hot one and another sunny one same free on thursday just gradually less hot as we work our way through this forecast. Today still excessive heat warnings in pink basically lighting up the entirety of the bay area. The exception being just the immediate coastline and then San Francisco itself which is just going to be hot. Its not excessively hot with those warnings 70s and 80s for San Francisco, 60s and 70s right along the coast, some of your cooler temperatures out right along the shoreline 70s and 80s from brisbane through millbrae and burlingame while 90s from san carlos through redwood city palo alto and Mountain View today. 90s to triple digits in the south bay. Morgan hill familiar territory for you by this point that one 04 san jose also been towards a 97 to 99 degrees a lot lately and today is no Different Union city and hayward in the upper 80s fremont at 92 triple digits in the tri valley through walnut creek and the concord while oakland and berkeley 85 richmond, nice 84 compared to the triple digits elsewhere. Sonoma vacaville antioch pittsburgh all at one 06 hot spot today thats you and me out yacht bill that one o 7. Santa rose at one 02 while petaluma in sandra fell rounding us out at 98 degrees each now tomorrow, were still likely to see a future pull digits on the mouth, but your average inland high falls back into the upper 90s a sign of well i Better Weather ahead of us thursday and friday highs fall a little bit further into the mid 90s inland and will stay that way into the weekend. Bayside in coastal areas also finding some relief with highs falling into the 80s 70s by the bay and low 70s near the coast. James all right john thank you very much 6. 48 is the time.
