Reyna 71 in the developing story this morning is they were able to stop the forward progress of a 66 acre wildfire that threatening multiple homes. East of san jose. Good news for those homeowners. You know, Officials Say right now its about 30 contained and theyve been on the scene all night, really putting out some of those hot spots. Thankfully, there were no injuries it comes to damage. It all started around 2. 30, yesterday near san joses foot hills in the unincorporated area of Santa Clara County now called out a total of 70 fire officials from both San Jose Fire Department and cal fire. The teams used aircraft to put out retardant and water to help that burning brush. Get out. And thankfully they were able to save the threatened homes off of clayton road and via de la vista and the alum rock area. Homeowners here say some of them have been here for 45 years yesterdays fire was the worst that theyve seen so far. Thankfully they were prepared it was able to be stopped before it got to any homes. This morning, the smell of smoke is still in the air. And right now theres a total of 66 acres that have the sun is now up. Investigators say is this all started because a man was at home, died and then his brother was cleaning out the home in the shed smelled a strange odor and then was led to this shed where there were boxes about hundreds of boxes of dangerous chemicals. There products with. That were explosives. Whats oxidizer. Ys. As things of that nature. So they were pretty much concern about everything in the building. They didnt know theyre in bottles or containers that were not labeled. So we had to actually go through the process of having to identify that and then take the appropriate measures. And you might think, how did the chemicals get there and why the neighbors say that the guy who died . He was actually a professor of chemistry. So at first they thought that they be able to get the sun back away. Shuns everybody back in the house and one day. But it has you could hear it took a long time for them to process everything in make sure that it was safe. The family of an 8 yearold boy says their son is now paralyzed. But in good spirits. He was hit in crossfire between 2 cars that were shooting each other on the east bay freeway. This happened last month in the eastbound lanes of 5. 80, near harrison street in oakland. The family was driving in that area and the 8 yearold boy asa was hit by a bullet pierced the spinal column of his neck. And whats amazing is despite they say hes in good spirits and hes making them laugh and reading his favorite books. Authorities say oakland resident ryan bell, sir, is a person of interest in this case. The killing happened back on may. 26 at the intersection of 41st street in san pablo avenue near the oaks car club. You have information on beltres whereabouts. Youre asked to call emeryville police. A Silicon ValleyBank Shareholders now suing the bank to recover money lost in the wake of that banks collapse. The lawsuit is being brought by jane auto, a former employee of the bank. And San Francisco has a better idea of how many Homeless People have decided. They dont want shelter. The Emergency ManagementDepartment Released new data on the number of Homeless People in San Francisco whove refused to sleep in a shelter despite being offered city services, the healthy streets Operation Center approach engage with more than 2000 People Living on the streets and they say 1000 of them accepted shelter services. The rest, which is about half declined. Officers for office offers for shelter. The data gathered does not include, though, shelter placements made by other street outreach outreach teams. In part, basically that what the outreach teams do is limited and she wants people to understand as well that these workers are being targeted just for doing their jobs. These 3 residential breakins happened in the 1300 block of calaveras drive and the 23,000 block of tyke on the road drive on july 14th and 16th. And you can see these other cameras from the neighborhood actually captured these 3 people and thats who theyre looking for.
