People who survived the wildfire are reeling after losing their homes. And business is a reality. All too familiar for californians throughout our history with deadly wildfires. More than anybody. If youd like to contribute, we do have a link on our website. Kron 4 dot com. In the meantime, another Tropical Storm is churning in the pacific ocean. Meteorologist kyla grogan here. Shes been tracking that storm kyla. Yeah. In fact, weve got 2 storms and one that is likely to develop within the next 24 to 48 hours. So wanted to start here with Tropical Storm greg. You can see that this one is about. 1000 miles southeast of honolulu and that is going to be traveling just to the south of hawaii. And then we have hurricane fernanda, which yesterday was a category 4, now has weakened to a category 2. And that ones going to be traveling a little bit closer towards hawaii. So as we kind of play these both out, what happens is i dont if you remember, but we have set up when the fires happened of High Pressure to the north and a tropical system to the south and wind chance to travel from high to low pressure. And so when we get that set up, you get had stronger wind kind of rolling. And thats what happened. So here we have the Tropical Storm. Greg, here we have hurricane fernanda and then here we have that area of development that were looking to see how develops over the next 24 hours. Now, right now, weve got low pressure to the north. You can see the High Pressure. Scoot a little bit more to the northeast. So this is that Tropical Storm. And as this moves, you know, it all kind of starts to move. And thats what we have to watch out for over the next couple of days. Theyve got a little bit stronger wind coming their way tomorrow. And then again, when that hurricane kind of gets closer to where they are. Meanwhile, we have a low pressure system that is dragging some of this tropical moisture in. And you may feel the effects of that a little bit, both in the fact that weve seen a little bit of Stormy Weather coming in around the bay area. And then also this, the humidity that you feel and you kind of see that haze in the sky as well as we take a live look right now from mount tam. These are the current humidity level. So if youre oakland is at 58 now the further inland you travel, the drier, the air is going to be. And that has a lot to do with the fact that we have, you know, ocean influence. But still, you probably feel a difference right today. I know i felt that a little bit a little bit of muggy air when i walked out the door. We also still have some wildfires happening in oregon and a little bit of that haze is being dragged down into our air. So our air quality is being impacted a bit. Today. Were expecting areas to see moderate air quality. So just a heads up right now, were looking pretty good. You can see san jose in the yellow, but everybody else in the green at this hour in just to show you with some of that tropical moisture, its kind of staying outside of where we are the rest of today. Thats just a little drizzle from the marine layer. But there is still that very, very slight chance, right, that we could see any of those popup kind of lightning thunderstorms that happened last night and the night before. So we do cool down as we get into friday and theyre going to really nice weekend on tap. But the next couple of days still staying very hot, a little unstable and land. Back to you. A new Court Ruling Means student loan borrowers could be one step closer to having some of their federal Student Loan Debt forgiven. Washington correspondent Trevor Shirley has the very latest in d c. This Development Comes after a lawsuit was tossed out that was aimed at stopping the biden administrations latest attempt at another student loan forgiveness program. That lawsuit was brought by 2 conservative groups who oppose the white houses recent effort to forgive 39 billion dollars worth of federal student debt impacting around 800,000 borrowers. The judge dismissed the lawsuit monday ruling. The 2 conservative groups had no standing to sue. The complaint argued the administration overstepped its power when it announced the forgiveness in july. That announcement came as a plan b of sorts after the Supreme Court earlier this summer struck down the white houses initial student loan forgiveness plan that plan included forgiving up to 20,000 worth of federal student debt per borrower. The Administration Says because of mondays decision around 804,000 borrowers will see some of their debt forgiven. However, that case was dismissed without prejudice, meaning the lawsuit can be refiled. And at this point, its not clear whether or not those conservative groups plan to refile their lawsuits in a different fashion anytime soon reporting in washington, im Trevor Shirley. 32 on this tuesday afternoon. Lets talk about our forecast taking a live look at the embarcadero at our favorite palm tree. I know kind of like zaha way and got really waving in the wind today. Much going on. Yeah. Pretty calm out there. I wanted to start to look at the weather around the country just to show you that weve got some of that heat in the Southern Tier and its now reaching read up along seaboard as how on the west coast . We are big story, though, is that weve got Pacific Northwest heat. Its kind of incredible. The numbers that theyre starting to see. You can see all this heat watches and warnings right there because for jen, down to florida and then back over to texas and then obviously we have some here in california. But right up into washington and oregon and even over to parts of montana. And this is going through thursday. They are in a heat wave where they are setting some records up there. So today the highs expected in seattle. 92 degrees to come in. 94 olympian. 98 centralia. Thats a little bit south of seattle. Thats 99 to check out portland, oregon, 104 today. And eugene, oregon, 101. And a lot of these spots, people, you know, they dont have air conditioning because they dont get this kind of heat that often. So its happening is a High Pressure is in control now. Ultimately the low pressure that is kind of sitting off the coast of california. Well bump that out of the way. And then that cooler air will spill in. And thats going to happen around friday. But between now and then places like portland looking out for 104 today, 100 tomorrow. And 95 on thursday. So it is going to be a little bit of a rough ride there. Meanwhile, we take a look at some of that monsoonal moisture thats being dragged in and notice that makes it as far north as into parts of oregon. And that is the influence of that low pressure thats got that counter clockwise circulation. As we zoom in a little bit here, you can see any of the lightning kind of staying away from the bay area. But up more to the northeast of clearlake. But still were getting a little bit active over in the sierra. So be watching that as we get into the afternoon and still that very outside chance that we could see some of those pop ups happen as we get later into the day today. Meanwhile, in the bay area, weve got a nice blue skies out there. A little bit of haze out there as well. Were looking out for high inland of 99 degrees today about 82 around the bay. 69 out at the coast, you can see were going to stay right there and that kind of hot spot with our inland valleys until we get into thursday. We start to break it down slightly. But even then we really dont see the relief come our way until we get into friday. So ill be back in a little bit. Well talk more about that when we could say goodbye to that inland heat. Well talk about what your weekend is looking like to back to you. Kayla. Thank you.
