I well, you know, if things change quickly around here, but weve got some beautiful sunshine as we take a live look here. Take a look at downtown San Francisco. You can see the blue skies been with us. Its gorgeous. Actually got outside. Took a little walk around the block myself. A little bit of a breeze out there, but not bad. You can see it picking up right now sfo about 22 miles per hour. Notice weve got kind conflicting like onshore offshore thing going on, right . So onshore flow happening at Half Moon Bay. But you see the wind kind of coming from the northwest at sfo right now. Just goes to show you that we dont have any prevalent wind right now at the moment. But what we do have is some very warm temperatures. You can see livermore right now sitting at 98 degrees. Same story in antioch. Were at 70 in downtown San Francisco made it up to 89 in san jose. So the inland heat has been with us now. Want to take you back to 06 00am this morning when we have a little line of showers that rolled right across public antioch spots like fairfield, a little lightning was associated with it. A happy to say that weve been relatively calm throughout the day today. Now you can see all the action is over in the sierra where things have picked up a lot with susan get the heat of the day it started cranking and you can see all of that lightning starting to roll again. And that is part of that monsoonal moisture pattern that brings in some of that tropical moisture. And as we zoom out here, you can kind of make out the counter clockwise circulation of low pressure thats sitting right offshore here. And you can see how that counter clockwise circulation is there. And it draws all of that moisture in brings it up and around. So thats why were seeing that today. We saw yesterday. Well likely see it tomorrow as well. Basically, youve got low pressure here and then weve got High Pressure to the north that is really heating up the Pacific Northwest. Thankfully, low pressure still kind of in control at the moment. Thats why, you know, were not getting too hot by the coast, but that High Pressure certainly making a big problem for folks in the northwest on the back a little bit. Late last night he was indicted for his alleged attempts to interfere with georgias 2020 president ial Election Results, washington, d. C. , correspondent Hannah Brandt is here with us now live to breakdown the charges. Hannah number 4. Just seeing good evening. Yeah, thats absolutely right. This is former President Trumps 4th criminal indictment and his second for election interference. Now in this latest one, he and 18 of his allies are charged with several serious crimes. In georgia, theres now a warrant out for Donald Trumps arrest. The defendant engaged in a criminal racketeering enterprise to overturn georgias president ial Election Results just before midnight. Fulton County District attorney fani willis announced that trump and 18 of his allies are charged with crimes ranging from racketeering to conspiracy. The indictment accuses them of lying to state officials creating fake election documents and engaging in a cover up. Part of that effort was captured on a recorded call between the former president and georgias republican secretary of state 2 months after the election. I just want to 11,000. 780. Loves, which is one more that we as with the 3 earlier indictments this year. Trump denies any wrongdoing and says the prosecution is politically motivated and allies are rushing to his defense. Its another a long line. Of hoaxes, a witch hunt. Republican strategist and former Trump Administration official hogan gidley says this will only help trumps bid for reelection. It means pretty much all the rest mean. And that is a shot in the arm for donald trump. But willis argues this case is completely nonpartisan. I make decisions in this office based on the facts and the law. And willis says all of the defendants have until noon on august, 25th to surrender. She also says she wants this trial to start sometime in the next 6 months. Just seen back to you. Hanna, thank you so much. And joining us now to talk more about thats means for donald trump and how will impact his. 2024 president ial run is our political analysts. Michael yaki. Michael, thank you for joining us here to talk about this 4th indictment. One of the things that i want to get to what happened in georgia was this racketeering charge that they use this. This rico, the statute. Can you explain what it is . Its sort of based on the federal statute win a record with racketeering charges that you basically have created, essentially a conspiracy and through the conspiracy created essentially enterprising organization designed to commit criminal acts. Now in georgia, those criminal acts and those over action further into of the racketeering enterprise is a little bit looser than under the federal standard. They can be a continuing have to have actual entity in simply be the organization of individuals going together basically was it was designed to get straight games and atlanta in the 1980s. So which did not have a formal legal structure structure. I kind of the federal statute, but as more is still works together as a single entity. And here theyre charging this collection of individuals. Were basically working together to attempt to subvert the georgia electoral votes in the 2020 election and you can rely under the george statue. Action. It. Committing other states, whether its washington, d. C. , with its michigan with pennsylvania, all those things are alleged as part of overt actions through the rinse on this racketeering enterprise under the georgia law. Its usually used to target people in organized crime. Therefore, indictments. Now well go through them. The documents case. Thats where he mishandled those top secret documents in his Florida State election interference. Thats obstruction from the proceedings. All right. January 6, the hush money case out of new york where he was accused of falsifying business records. Now we have the Georgia Election efforts where allegedly tried to overturn his 2020 election defeat of those 4, which is the most damaging or severe. And also it doesnt seem, though, since he denies any wrongdoing that it has any effect on the polls for his 2024 president ial run. But first, let me just say one thing. It doesnt it . Yes, and the federal statute is was organized crime. But the atlanta statute has been used for much looser organizations that really organized crime teachers who dealt with inflated great scores to working with people on the street just a little bit newsroom. Thats why the georgia statute more dangerous for donald trump. I think you take the danger in several ways in terms of the evidence. I think that the maralago case and some of the worst evidence against donald trump in terms of deliberate mishandling and withholding the documents are some some very little dispute about that in terms of the danger jail time. I think atlanta poses some of fulton county. Was severe challenges. First, theres a minimum state sentence in under the georgia law of 5 years. Violation, the rico statute, the federal guidelines he could get away probation. You can get away with with time served, whatever it is, but it would be very minimal here. Its 5 years and there is no pardon power in georgia. The governor doesnt have the ability just simply say, look, i like donald trump, im going to pardon him. You have to wait till 5 years after you serve your sentence to get a pardon. So its its not the same thing. Thirdly, its immune to the president ial pardon itself. So if one trumps regions stated by his own advisers, a bike is running for president. So you can make sure that youre convicted any federal charges or to dismiss the federal charges, he i i mean, president having control. Im just federal judiciary process. He has no power in georgia. Fact, in fact, i think the only thing that you can possibly rely on is this new georgia law which goes into effect in october where the georgia legislature, 3 independent commission can attempt to remove funny. Well, as prosecutor, whether or not that actually makes the case go away at this point as a whole matter altogether. I but i think in terms of potential jail time. This is the most severe in terms of facts of the case of a maralago is probably the toughest against him. But i think that, you know, everyone is looking at the j 6 proceeding in washington, d. C. , a certainty. The indication of what on that answer and insurrection. And lastly here quickly, im just curious where this leaves. Voters says these criminal cases move forward and were hitting the 2024 president ial. Race. But again, thats 64,000 already, 278 electoral vote question i just seen because certainly for the trump base, means absolutely nothing of a thing and probably so if i even more, one thing youre hearing right now, republicans is a fear that donald trump, if these cases to drag donald trump down from the nomination, it would portend disaster at the polls in november of 2024. Because its supporters would sit on the sidelines. They need those supporters there. But what that means for the general election and for middle of the road voters. I think thats going to be the real Tipping Point whether the aggregation of these cases are in the individual. What now any one of these cases has an impact on his ability to reach what he needs in those swing states to get to 270 electoral votes. Michael yaki, thank you so much for joining us and for your insight. Appreciate it. Thank you. Justin. Get a check of our Weather Forecast now with a quick live look outside from our mount tam cam. Its beautiful, warm day out there. Meteorologist kyla grogan. Well talk about that. But shes also tracking the tropics. Yeah, because in hawaii, of course were keeping an eye on their weather. And as you can see, weve got a Tropical Storm. Greg, we talked about this yesterday. Its about 1000 miles southeast of honolulu. And that is going to put in a position where High Pressure will be to the north again. And that means well see increased trade winds. Thats not great. Also on the heels of that, weve got hurricane fernanda. You can see hurricane fernando was a category 4 yesterday. Now a category 2. And as we kind of see the direction both of n g these are going in. Now, this is very common this time of year, but it certainly does complicate their weather a little bit to theyll get a little pickup of the wind here, then a break. And then again, as they get into the latter part of next weekend, a little bit of a boost in the wind. Again from that hurricane, which at that point should be subtropical. So basically youve got Tropical Storm here hurricane here in the believe it or not another system that is going to likely develop in the next 24 to 48 hours. So very active, very active pacific tropics season right now. Also want to show you said the heat across the country. Take take a look at the montana 101 degrees. Boise, idaho 101 right now. 98 in portland, obviously expect the heat in places like vegas and phoenix. But the Pacific Northwest is roasting. Now. We do have heat as well across the Southern Tier and even up into parts of virginia from virginia. But this is the area that really have my attention today, the Pacific Northwest, because this is a spot where a lot of people dont have air conditioning, right, because they dont usually get this hot. And today in portland expecting 103 degrees. Eugene oregon, expecting to get up to 101. And you can see the 90s there from seattle, tacoma to olympia. So whats going to happen ultimately is this High Pressure will start to relent and low pressure will start to bump it out of the way. Open the door to spill that cooler air in. But that hasnt happened yet. And its not going to happen until friday. So today, tomorrow, thursday, still looking out for those very warm temperatures. This school year is Lindsay Ortiz with the Danville Police department. Thank you so much for joining us here during kron. 4 news at 3. Having us. So i had a question because i saw it on your social media page that was posted. Parents love to put up those when the kids thats the first to school to help those little signs. My name is heres my teacher. Like some of my favorite things. But youre saying thats not. Really what parents should be posting. It poses a lot of safety risk to the kids in the school and also to their homes. Correct. So we like to say your facebook your friends on social media, they will all know your kids names, what schools. They are already attend. Essentially youre opening that up to anybody thats wishing to do harm. You know, unfortunately, that is out and about and the the more that you can keep your information private, the better theres tons of apps you know, even our High Schoolers dont realize theyre subjecting themselves to Security Breaches just by, you know, posting their locations. Theres class schedules theres a different app right now. Thats in the media and we are actually trying to speak High Schoolers about not doing those things. So parents, especially, you know, one way to keep your children safe is just to keep that all off of the internet. And were showing one of the pictures that you posted. And i know when we talked earlier, youre saying was sort of a joke, but not really because on that sign that was saying that the first name of the kid and then their Social Security number as thats how extreme it could be of what risk youre putting for your kids out there. When youre sending information out there to people that dont know. I think people kind of forget that like its the internet like anyone can see it anywhere. Absolutely. I mean, even for some people that hack, you that could be a password some people. You just dont know. You know, susie attends this school. Her favorite color is purple. Her teachers year just allowing information that should not be out on the we have to keep our kids safe. Hadnt thought about was kind of just thinking more about the Elementary School kids and the parents that posting it. But High SchoolersJunior High School students, parents to be talking to them about what theyre posting their schedules. What time of day theyre coming going leaving all that could be something that if it gets in the wrong hands could be pretty dangerous. Absolutely. Theres an app and i dont want to give adding lights. But theres an app right now. And High Schoolers are posting their schedules. All you need to do to join that cap is put your name your birthday and a phone number and you can essentially go online and see anybodys schedule that has, but their schedule on there and your leaving yourself out to, you know, the unknown which we definitely want to avoid. Is there anything that is okay to put out there because i know parents really loved to make those signs and they do look cute and get a like started as a way to kind of mark the moment it what is ok to post. So like i said it, your friends are on we just went all of our schools. Our local schools last week for the first day of school and we saw a ton of kids taking pictures as long as youre not putting your school, your Childs School name their personal information. You know, im posting a picture of my daughter on social media. People already know my daughters name as people are, you know what school she attends. So those school photos, of course, we want to take them. I love seeing our our memories, you know, from years ago, but dont put any information that you would share with the world because thats essentially what youre doing. Ortiz from the Danville Police department, thank you so much for joining us. Good luck. The school year. Well talk soon. Okay. Thanks. And speaking of students, a montana judge has ruled in favor of teen activists in a first of its kind Climate Change trial. The students sued claiming state agencies violated their Constitutional Rights to a healthy environment by allowing fossil fuel Development Without considering the effects on climate. Its believed to be the first time a u. S. Court has ruled against a government for violating a constitutional right based on Climate Change. A spokeswoman from montanas attorney general called the ruling absurd and the state now plans to appeal. We will bring in this lovely live picture here in San Francisco today. Were just really about to hit that stride of summer, but it was very toasty out there on this tuesday. Kyle is here now to join us. So we get a look at the forecast and warm one. Yeah, sunny, sunny today. Very sunny, which is beautiful here in San Francisco where we got up about 70 degrees but maybe not so fun. If you are say in livermore, where were, you know, just under 100 degrees right now. But you can see all the beautiful sunshine across the bay today, all the way from San Francisco out to Half Moon Bay to san jose. A happy bays got a little bit of set out there. Certainly some clouds hanging out there, too. But they are still a little cool. 62 degrees, one of the few spots because notice head to morgan hill. It is currently 96 degrees. 98 in livermore. Were 95 in dublin, pittsburgh, about 95. Weve got some nice 70s around the bay, oakland, right out. 76, but 100 degrees. Hello, fairfield. There you go. Yeah. Triple digit heat nevado. Wow. That just popped up. I have to say thats a little surprising 102 in novato. Theyre expected to get up into the mid 90s today. So lets take livermores example. Compare yesterdays heat 2 today and you can see theyre running just about parallel right yesterday. We got up to about 97 degrees notice already today that area in yellow are running about one to 2 degrees, 2 degrees warmer than we were yesterday. So that just goes to show you we get a little more sunshine and a little quicker and were heating up faster is yesterday. We kind of hung on to some of those clouds. Tomorrow is going to be more of the same. So we have another day of this heat before we start to begin to break it down. It really isnt until friday that we start to really see it relent for those of you inland. So tomorrow, still looking at those upper 90s in the inner east day. So if you are in walnut today, were expecting 97 degrees tomorrow. Same story, some to go ahead and give you the coffee iced coffee outlook of a large. I think were verging on an extra large, though, the friend. So be careful if youre going to be out and about and you are inland because we still have a few days left of this heat now wanted to take you through just real quickly and show you that we do have those afternoon kind of monsoonal moisture thats been kicking up and producing. Lightning will see that again tomorrow and likely the day after its not really about the amount of rain that this brings, but the danger that it brings that lightning can touch off fires. So far we have not heard of any of that happening, but its something to keep an eye on the danger in the beauty of weather, right . I just wanted to show you this. This is for more of our colleagues, ido. One of our directors went to go 70 on his motorcycle and took this picture. Gorgeous picture of some lightning you capture there. So that is all about the monsoonal moisture, right . When that happens, that we start to see that lightning kickoff. You can see that cool down starting on friday. The weekend looks really nice. Im going to warm it up again next week. Back to you. But it a better something. He finished last in fantasy football. You beat that is giants play by play announcer Dave Flemming serving us the giants batboy in yesterdays giants rays game at oracle park. So why was he out there as a batboy . Well, it was a punishment for losing his fantasy football league. Maybe who knows more about baseball fleming served in his new role for 3 innings before he got to go back up to the booth for his day job being about boy could be some of dream job. So it wasnt about maybe a little more active than just sitting there. All right. Coming up next, french authorities are not happy with 2 american tourists. Details on the eiffel tower incident 2 american tourists are in hot water with french authorities after they passed out in the eiffel tower following a very drunken night. The 2 unidentified men bought a ticket late on sunday night. And then at some point they hop the security barriers and made their way to a spot thats normally closed to the public between the tower second and 3rd levels. Police say that they were so drunk they appeared to have gotten stuck there. So they spent the night and then they were woken up the next morning by security guards. The eiffel towers operators say they are now going to press charges. Maybe it was all the champaign. But, you know, sometimes you drink too much and you make decisions a method can thats where we get a little of a bad reputation. Mary studied abroad in france. Its a beautiful place. But yeah, thats not youre not the way you want to go at lets take a live look outside from the mount tam cam. And you can see weve got a lot of blue sky out there. Some clouds as well, though that will be rolling in and well have that marine layer rebuild as we get into the evening. So the potential for a little bit of drizzle in the overnight hours. But notice its not a very robust, a marine layer, right . We do still have that drizzle and its certainly going to be waking up to a little bit of precipitation and notice if you look to the edge of the screen, also the chance again for some of those showers, kind of over to be more by mount diablo that like the road by this morning, right, very, very far to the east of us. But something to keep an eye out for. And then tomorrow well clear out and get another kind of nice, sunny day, little hot inland, unfortunately for tomorrow. And you can see on thursday, same story. But by friday, were looking good as we head towards the weekend is going to be beautiful. So i think if youre looking to make outdoor plans, sunday might be the better of the 2. But i think theyre both looking really good saturday and sunday. And then next week were going to talk about that. When we get there, it will be a little hotter back 1, 1, day at a time.
