You are definitely going to be needing that. As skies clear out, weve got the fog this morning, but it doesnt last outside from the east bay hills, very fogged were seeing some especially low visibility for parts of the north bay. Were in the process of seeing it lifting and burning off, though, and more and more into the afternoon. Its going to get brighter and a little warmer today than the past few days. Daytime highs will be warm enough to maybe even hop in the pool. If you are in 50s 60s for our current temperatures. Still cool morning. Need that light jacket for now. Later today we get up into those mid 80s for the first time this holiday weekend. And temperatures are going to be trending warmer and warmer as the days go by. Ill be breaking it down as we go, all right, john, thank you for that. Traffic still pretty light on a monday morning. 8 minutes into the city right now. Meteor lights are off san mateo bridge 12 minute werl to sandra fell bridge 6 minutes and the little gate bridge. 37 to the tolls. 19 minutes on this monday. Well, one is the time and is today. And the activists roots of this holiday are especially visible this year. As you probably heard, we got unions across the country now challenging how their workers are treated at this year. Weve seen an emboldened Labor Movement here in the bay area. Weve seen teachers city, airline workers. All hit the picket lines. And its the same story across the country. Experts say nationwide we are in an environment much closer to the air from which later date was born almost 130 years. You know, hollywood, as you well know, the writers have been on strike for about 4 months now. Actors joined them in july. So both unions are on the picket line seeking better compensation and more protections from the use of Artificial Intelligence negotiations are set to resume friday. Well see how those go nationally. Just in the last month weve seen auto workers in detroit, flight attendants for american airlines, both voting to authorize strikes and unionized workers at ups nearly walked off the job before a new contract was approved late last month. All right. Well, here at home, the of thousands of health care workers, theyre going to hold a labor day rally and a march in oakland this morning. Seiu, United Healthcare workers west on safe staffing during pandemic led to burnout mayorkas had to leave health care systems. Organizers say todays rally and march well showcase the importance of labor unions advocating for better wages, fair wages and safer working conditions. So much of our country, institutional structures, its coach or politically, its its like is to do with laborer and the Labor Movement. Well, the rally in oakland is set for 9. 30, this morning. Thats going to be at moss would park the march. Then again, well start literally in less than an all right. Well, on this, for your money for going to be filling up the gas tank to take a family somewhere this labor day or if youre planning to head back to the bay area after a weekend trip, youre going to know how much gas is costing. Yeah, it was a lot of for especially hitting the road this weekend with Michael Thomas in lafayette. How much are you seeing out there . Well, right here at this gas station. Good morning, everyone. Were looking at almost 6. 5. 97, and gas experts say that really even despite that hurricane that we see on the opposite side of the country, theyre saying that gas prices are actually pretty much staying content for right now. But here in california, we have seen a raise. Take a look at this video that we have up on your screen right now. You know, according to triple a todays National Average is around 3. And 0. 82 that 0. 7 more than it was a month ago. But still 0. 2 less than it was this time last year in california, the average gas price, however, is 5. 32 per gallon. Thats according to aaa, which is up about 0. 3 from last week and is a 1. 50 higher than the National Average. Take a look at these numbers. We have up on your screen. These are gas prices across the bay area from triple a you can see theres nothing that is under 5. A gallon napa coming in at the highest 5 and 0. 42 in the lowest is over in Solano County being at 5. And 0. 27. However, as i just said here at this chevron in lafayette, were looking at 0. 97 for the supreme and then 5 and 0. 59 for the regular. But that is the very latest here in lafayette. I spoke with one gentleman who tells me he spent about 80 a week or so sometimes a couple times a week and youll hear from him in the next hour james, well send it back to you. All right. Pretty penny . And my might well want you to fill up the pump. You want to know when is the best time to hit the roads . Well, weve got some information here for courtesy of triple a it says the best time to drive is from 10 in the morning till 06 00pm. We have a little graphic. We can slide in illustrate that for you. The worst time to drive is after 07 00pm. So basically head out today or this afternoon. If you wait till this evening, youre going to be with everybody else, jamming the roads to get home slowly all right. Well, happening now, were also talking about 80 westbound right between 7. 80, in vallejo, not before lees still closed today. Caltrans is repaving several lanes on the roadway. There westbound traffic on 80. Theyre rerouting that through benicia right across the venetian martinez bridge and back on a highway. 4. Now we asked caltrans about why they decided to do the work over Labor Day Weekend. Yeah, you know, theres never really a good time to close a major highway, right . But we you know, request from motor as we heard the concerns for boaters that this portion of west. But it was just pretty much unsafe. The payment was in poor conditions. So to go in there. If we wanted to make sure that the highway was safe for motorists go in there and make sure that the that a construction that do know there, can withhold for the next 40 years. So right now what were doing is we look at our traffic data what it showed was that we actually have traffic counts during the Labor Day Weekend and the number of traffic coming to this region is very low because most of the motor heading towards the east or sacramento to top of it. Drivers come back to the bay area today. Youre going to have to use that detour. Officials say repaving should be finished by 05 00am tomorrow. Well, the chp is going to be out in full force, i statewide maximum enforcement period began friday at 06 00pm. Everything like that last year over the Labor Day Weekend, the chp said they arrested more than 900 people for dui. 52 people died in crashes on california roads. Why police in nevada arrested 3 people inside it. 16 others during a dui checkpoint on friday. The checkpoint was right at the intersection of nevada boulevard at la salle and ross court. About 50 people were cited for allegedly driving with a suspended or revoked license. One person cited for allegedly letting us spend a driver operate a vehicle. We have kron fours amanda hari talk to somebody who is stuck there. Steel. Its a different experience now, but its still great. Heavy rains have left thousands of people stranded at burning man, including San Francisco, pride executive directors whose and fort i was going to leave yesterday i hope to i hope is going to leave today, but it rained again this afternoon. So im probably not going to get out here till tomorrow night. Maybe the desert was hit with about 2 to 3 months worth of rain in just 24 hours between friday and saturday morning. You can see in the video that created a thick mud, difficult to walk or drive through. Event organizers closed the roads but some people still tried to leave either by driving in large vehicles are walking miles to the nearest town. Those who stayed were told to shelter in place and conserve food, water and fuel. Thank god. My friends who invited me very prepared. They were conserving a little bit. You know, its part of being as part of being a burner. Ive been taught. Every year you deal with some kind of obstacle and how you deal with that popsicle kind of defines whether you should be coming here. Not festival. Not a huge impact from wildfire smoke today. As you can see, we have good air quality across the board. Couple of moderate pockets out towards the Central Valley around vacaville.
