Evolving a big rig that big rig crashed into the toll plaza booth right there and the actual booth car on fire. That big rig caught on fire as well. Now we know that that person did not survive that accident this morning. Theyve been working on that since the late hours over last night. Currently this morning. If you are traveling, you see things are slowing down their bit. We know that 3 westbound lanes are open and theyre going to continue to work on this bridge for the next few hours or so. Now the 70 0 bridge is also another major issue. We had currently the news you need to know. All lanes are back open. But this accident happened at westbound 92 just east of the toll plaza evolving 3 vehicles. 2 of those vehicles ended up in a ditch and they even had to shut down all westbound lanes of the san mateo bridge for at least an hour or so. And so weve seen significant now. Theyve been able to open up all of those lanes. Now youre still seeing residual delays. Look at our map here. You can see all along 8 80s still have read there and a lot of people tried to take mission boulevard to navigate around the delays on 8. 80, and that still slow this morning. Dunbar bridge, even seeing some fallout from that accident here drive times around 30 minutes. If you are traveling across to menlo park. So if you are going to be traveling this morning and that is your route, definitely know that you are seeing some residual delays not only than talking about this bridge with Michael Thomas is actually out there this morning showing what it looks like on the ground. I would say the last 10 minutes or so, this traffic started flowing because before this, it was gridlock all the way down. 92 and you can still see its a little bit like that over that bridge for 8. 80. But once that light on the opposite side of the bridge, you know, goes through these cars will start flowing because thats how its been red before we got here live with you guys. But earlier this morning, it was complete gridlock. This intersection was all gridlock and so forth. So things are clearing up. 92 does not have as much congestion as it did. Theres a tiny bit of right around this area. But earlier this morning, it was backed up all the way to hayward. Things are clearing up now, not as they normally would be, but for the most part, it is now cleared up. And you can see that there. Weve seen conditions clearing up pretty nicely with a little bit of that sunshine, those low 60s and upper 50s dont feel so bad. Good morning for job getting outside. Caltrain spokesperson has confirmed that one of its trains hit and killed a pedestrian in san jose. That happened just before 6. 30, this morning near skyway drive. That spokesperson says the train was heading northbound with about 97 passengers on board. Nobody was injured on the train, but they say that train is currently stopped as they investigate what happened. Senate seat from california, former Major League Baseball star republican steve garvey has formally declared that he is running for that senate seat within the last few hours or so. It became official. Steve garvey known as one of the alltime greats to play Major League Baseball los angeles dodgers. And then later with the San Diego Padres, hes a 10 time. Mlb allstar 1974, national league, most valuable player in the 1981 world series champion. A lot of older voters will know who he is. Hes a republican running in california for a seat that hasnt been held by republicans since 1992. He joins an already crowded race featuring major democratic candidates. You see on your screen, congress members, adam schiff of burbank, katie porter of irvine and barbara of oakland. The time 905. And happening tonight, the glen school board. Well need to discuss repealing the ban on displaying the pride flag, a school. Thats an issue thats been a contentious one recently. Kron fours will tran following it for us in seminole. Well. As it stands right now, if you go to the school, only 2 flags are flying. In front of the school of the American Flag and the state flag. But in previous years they were allowed to fly other flags, including welcome back to school. Be kind to kids week and then the pride flag that happens in june without any problems. But back on september, 12th the School Board Members by a vote of 2 to one voted to ban. Flags at the school. Only allowing the american and state flags and that caused a lot of people to be very upset, saying now youve gone too far. The School Board Members, they said that it was a special interests flag and to keep it neutral. Just the 2 flags should be flying at the school. It got so hot that the Alameda County sheriffs deputies, they were actually called in at that meeting back in september just to keep the peace to allow the Board Members to ultimately vote. Well, a board member introduced a resolution that will be taken up tonight at 5. 30, to see if they can repeal that ban to once again allow other flags to be at the school. Got a chance to talk to parents. Heres their reaction to a possible compromise. Its very heavy around here. Its become a very sort of toxic work environment. Its been, you know, flags were removed. I welcome flags. Welcome to all types. Flags were and its been very challenging and very divisive. This last month, unfortunately. He would like to see a compromise as far as other flags because right now they cant even display any sort of flags in front of the school on the fence, on the walls. And he said you just heard it that it has dampened the mood at the school to the point where we were here the day after september 12th, when they made that vote. Well, the superintendent said she was against the ban, but she will honor the Board Members and remove the pride flag. Sure enough. A week later, coincidence or not, you be the judge. All of a sudden the School Board Members one in to review her performance. She ultimately kept her job. But shes not here making any more comments, whether shes busy or just wont calm anymore. Shes not at the school to make any comments. But more than likely she will be there tonight at 5. 30, when the School Board Members decide whether or not to repeal the ban. And if so, perhaps well see more than just 2 flags flying at the school tomorrow. All right. Well, thank you for that update there and 908, is the time. And a man is in custody now after a standoff with police at the San Francisco bank. Police say he was armed with weve got video of the scene outside the chase bank on fulton street right near the usf campus. Several officers, including a swat team, responded at around 2 oclock in the afternoon yesterday to a report of an armed man inside of the bank. Police tried several times to order them and come out of that building. 3 hours into the situation, police ended up deploying flash bangs and tear gas. Even then it took some time until the suspect was finally carried out on a stretcher. Surprising. A lot of the folks who are watching. This city was in there screaming and kicking on the floor. So he must felt the pain. You he must felt the pain. So they said he was in because of the smell of but he lasted. I dont know how he left that the team make it to the bathroom to put with calorie knows because we couldnt take it out here. Just standing on the street, this knees and done in the watery eye to eye well, one officer was injured during that whole incident. The suspects charges are pending, but police say they may include aggravated assault and resisting arrest. Well, police in San Francisco is shot and killed a man who crashed into the chinese council. A building. The driver crashed in that building located off of the laguna street and geary boulevard. All happened around 3. 30, yesterday Afternoon Police arrived on scene. We dont have any specifics on what happened inside the council except that a Police Officer shot the driver. Drivers and taken to the hospital where they later died. Sarah says the police will hold a town hall within the next 2 days. More information on what happened inside the council well, the ongoing search for oaklands next police chief is down to 7 candidates, including former chief leronne armstrong. Oakland Police Commission Staff Committee announced they have identified the 7 finalists among nearly 20 candidates. He shared a list with the mayor and City Administration and the full commission. Oakland has died. A police chief since mayor sheng thao fire armstrong in february over his handling of officer misconduct incidents. Armstrong revealed up to his firing and claimed that an arbitrator cleared of any wrongdoing. The Committee Also noted in his memo that armstrong apply for that position. The city of novato has selected a new police chief who will serve as the citys 13th chief of police. But remember, we have those 2 lanes blocked off there from an overnight accident. 3 lanes are currently open this morning. And now weve had 2 showers as well in the past. 24 hours, one cold front sliding through yesterday in a secondary pushing through today resulting in rain to our north and some showers across the bay area itself. So right now were seeing some of that clearing resurgence of clouds later on. Initially, some showers for the midafternoon in the north bay and then into the early evening for the rest of us, these will be brief but pushing through with some light to even pockets of moderate rainfall again around sunset. Time tonight, skies dry out after that. We stay dry through the rest of the weeks forecast wednesday, thursday into friday. Looking like a nice little break from the rain and a good dose of sunshine. Still about 3 tents, even half an inch of rainfall left for the northern coast. As for the bay area could see another trace amounts of rainfall. Again, these are some really light showers. I i assumed that would send Oil Prices Sky High and it did spike a little bit yesterday, but i guess is coming down a touch. I thought it was a given tension in the middle east naturally means you know what . Price is going out of control, what he will be tracking here. That that was the case, in the 1970s basically. And i dont know politics very well. So lets take this is a grain of salt. But everyone in the middle east hate israel back in the 1970s now with some come countries are starting to like figure out, you know, saudi arabias like figure out their economy, not stressed about israel. Egypt has no issue. They have asa, not iran doesnt want to conflict with the United States. Theyre probably not to get involved again, i dont know a lot about this kind of topic, but theres no shock to the system the United States can supply our our own oil. If we want so Oil Prices Went up 2 yesterday down one percent. Gasoline is 3. 70, and dropped 0. 11 last week. Of course, of this escalating can become more attention. Com over the weekend, governor gavin newsom took action on a number of one bill vetoed was to increase jury diversity in 5 counties by boosting the pay of lowincome jurors in criminal cases, the legislation would have extended a Pilot Program operating in San Francisco. That pays low and moderate income jurors 100 a day instead of the usual 15 a day. Governor also vetoed a bill that would allow cannabis cafes. That measure introduced by San Francisco assemblymember matt haney. What have allow we chops us or food and coffee have host live music events. Newsom said the cafes could undermine the states smokefree workplace protections and encourage a need to address this concern in further legislation. And Governor Newsom did sign, however, a bill that outlaws hidden junk fees in california. And that includes many hidden charges associated with things like concerts and sporting events and booking hotel rooms. Experts estimate that americans spend at least 29 billion dollars a year on these junk fees. The new regulation takes effect july of next year. Morning news. Time now is 7. 34. Hayward city council is set to hold a meeting, by the way, to discuss new safety guidelines for sidewalk vendors there in the city. It includes a new permit program offered to vendors. Now the proposals are aimed at decriminalizing sidewalk. Vending both in that state and in that city, but also across the state. Changes that benefit. They hope both local businesses and protects public health. So the vendors will be required to provide basic Contact Information that includes whether they are operating as an individual or with the company. Today there will be a Community Meeting thats going to happen on zoom to get residents input on local housing protections in leandro. So the city says theyre trying to get some insight from the runners in the landlords on how to design housing protections that fit the priorities of the community. Firefighters and paramedics are now arriving first on scene, Officials Say the last 2 years both firefighters, paramedics and dispatchers have been receiving training on how to deescalate situations and manage those going through a Mental Health crisis. What were hoping to do by this is also keep some of those patients, those lowerlevel patients out of the hospital system. Whats allow other patients . Cardiac arrest patients or or stroke patients, etcetera, can get in and get services quicker, potentially. Well, in the past, firefighters and paramedics waited until police cleared the scene before they evaluated a Mental Health emergency. Well, now Fire Protection district says their crews will be first on scene and they can respond. They say within 7 minutes. On monday, 2 houses were damaged by fire. Conquer. Well, Redwood City Police right now are currently investigating a violent armed robbery. Officers say it happened at around 02 00pm sunday on a block of arc. Street, they say to people in masks were seen approaching a man and then hitting him with their gun twice on the head at which point they stole a gold chain and a bracelet men took off in a gray nissan altima. They were seen going west on whipple avenue. Police dont have much of a description other that. The thieves are 2 men. One was wearing a gray hoodie and the other wearing a black hoodie. Police have arrested 2 men in santa rosa on suspected weapons crimes after allegedly firing a gun into the air sunday morning. Now, Sonoma County sheriffs deputies say that tom oak aguilar and logan bolster were arrested after responding to a call of a man shooting a gun into the air at about 02 00am on barbara drive. Deputies say they found multiple unspent rounds and 18 round high capacity magazine and bolsters backpack and a 45 caliber handgun that they believe belongs to aguilar. And those also impact the price at the pump. So the price of crude oil is only about half the price of a gallon of gas. Then theres one more factor to consider side from the humanitarian crisis. Im seeing this seasonal decline in gas prices is also very normal at this time of year. So that impact might actually dominate any any mile increase from from crude oil in sacramento, martin. If you are trying to get on that right now, drive times are around 19 minutes. So the drive times have gone down on adam barton bridge from that earlier crash. But still 20 minutes there. So i would stay away from the san mateo bridge. You can see the red on the map across that bridge right now. Lease until they can clear that accident. Thats not really common for 9. 47. Tivoli dont have this many delays, but we have that earlier accident on the san mateo bridge is saw slow and now we have another one there again, south saint 67 minutes to make that drive. Might remember the Early Morning hours we had an accident. It completely shut down the westbound side of the bridge. They were letting people on and that lasted for about an hour. Finally got all lanes open. And that clear. And then we had another accident happened. So what we know about this one is we have at least 3 vehicles involved in this accident on the senate to reach right now. Looks like 2 vehicles were on either of the shoulder see of the left shoulder. The ridge right shoulder, the bridge and their vehicles and both for the shoulders trying to get them off to one side of the break so they can get those off of the bridge right now. You see the drive times here. 76 minutes. Got to be really frustrating for people. They were not able to take this bridge this morning because of the delays. Lot of people took the dumbarton bridge as a result of that. Now of the san mateo bridge back at a 76 minute drive there 80 to 101. So i would stay away from the bridge altogether completely. If you are traveling 8 80s also pretty backed up right now. If you are trying to take that route this morning, the dumbarton bridge now drive times have significantly gone down there. So i would take that bridge instead of trying to hop on the san mateo bridge lease until able to clear things off. As of right now, we dont know how severe the accidents are on the bridge. We know drive times a pretty backed up there. Lets check on the dunbar bridge really quickly for you. 60 minute. Ride a 80 to 101. If you are going to taking that at this hour. So thats your your best option right now. You can also potentially take the bay bridge if you want to stay around that.
