Theyre going to go underground and 10 shalene more likely to overdose less support from the community or Harm Reduction service providers, director of Overdose Prevention policy and strategy. Mary scylla says increased policing cant be the only thing to blame for a record year of overdoses. She says the Number One Solution will be getting narcan into the hands of drug users to reverse overdoses. One other solution, according to Health Experts in San Francisco. Is the citys new night navigator program. A team of people who have gone out from 07 00pm to 03 00am for the last 3 weeks providing outreach. Donna hilliard leave the teen and says its made up of people experienced homelessness and overcome drug transport we also have, you know, a sobering center. If you want to go there or if you want to go to a detox, she says on average 8 people in it are saying yes to getting help. But that fentanyl is reach, makes the work of Harm Reduction more difficult each night fit in all can be in cocaine powder substances. People dont know that, right . So theres people who are not using fentanyl but are being exposed to fentanyl. And then you see the overdose because they were unaware. Its a question a lot of folks are asking today. A 4. 1 earthquake hit Sacramento County today with an epicenter and ill ton people from stopped in the sacramento definitely felt it and some parts of the eastern north bays of to do as well. But even if you didnt feel it or want even really get that close to the earthquake, you may have still received a warning on your phone about it. Our theresa went and spoke to the usgs about why. This alert popped up on thousands of bay area phones wednesday warning residents in earthquake was eminent. That federal learned triggered by an early overestimation of the quakes. Intensity from californias shea color, usgs. This is bell is still a bose. And with u. S. Geological survey is a system that detects earthquakes right as beginning to and sends an alert to people that theyre going to feel shaking. However, for many, the shaking never came because it has to estimate the magnitude of the earthquake extremely quickly. That initial estimate is a little so, yes, the initial estimate was 5. 7, which is quite a larger have. Thats why many people received an alert when they in fact, feels like. Lobos, ian says, even though the system may not have appeared to work usgs as they see it as a win is a tradeoff between providing timely information. Again, those first couple seconds are really critical. Theres a tradeoff between timeliness and accuracy. So that simply. Future of how the system works that we want to provide alerts more conservatively and make sure that people get alerts when they should get really wanting to get everything. Were trying to things as quickly as possible. So the ideal response when you get an alert on your phone is to take action. Color is a joint project between usgs in berkeleys seismology lab. Doctor andrew lucks explains they plan to study the quake and the alerts to learn more on how to make it all better. Going to be some ongoing work. Theyre just trying to figure out exactly what happened. Looks like overall, again, the system worked well. We have one station that seem to have higher iqs what would expect. That event. At Moffett Field to recess stasio kron. 4 news. I whether time now as we get a live look outside the you hear from mount tam and theres a little low layer of haze. But yeah, not the thick fog that you usually see coming in the bay unless it has moved that i dont know. Absolutely beautiful. Were going to be not technical about it. Its beautiful saying that the waves are pretty wild out there today. Yeah, big waves. A pounding the coastline. You know, folks start to feel the heat probably want to get a little relief. They head of the coach got to be careful. These are some major swells that are moving in, even though were seeing High Pressure here. Weve got a pretty intense area of low pressure in the gulf of alaska that has generated some bigtime waves. So its beautiful out of the coastline where they started out with some dense fog. At the beach that cleared out, we have some temperatures soaring in the 80s even along the coastline. You see some of that white water, though, in the distance there. This is Half Moon Bay and really large swells out there. In fact, the National WeatherService Still issued a advisory for big waves there. And well see those maybe 17, maybe 22 footers out there along the coastline. That advisory continues until 7 oclock tomorrow evening. So be careful not only for people that want to swim, but people want to go fishing or anything along the coastline get knocked off the rocks very, very easily. All right. Check out the temperatures right now. 75 in Half Moon Bay to 77 degrees right now. Pacific at the coast, 80 in San Francisco. Youve got 79 in fairfax. 71, but they a 92 and hot santa rosa. So all around these temperatures really warming up. So going to be seen if we calculated records. I dont know if any fell today, but i think theres a very good chance. Were going to see numerous record set by tomorrow. Things are setting up now that were going to see that offshore wind developing. In fact, you kind of get the hint of that today. We cleared out along the coastline. I think overnight tonight well see that offshore even more. So that means skies going stay mostly clear overnight tonight, storm track had a well to the north. You see that big storm system in the gulf of alaska, the generating some of the swells eventually some of this energy is going to punch through as we head into friday and the weekend could actually bring some rain and some much cooler temperatures. But not tomorrow. Were basking in sunshine and probably record heat tomorrow as well see those offshore winds that sinking air really warming up as it approaches the coastline. That is going to be the temperatures even along the waters edge, going to be running on the hot side overnight tonight model showing mostly clear out there overnight tonight. Then by tomorrow, a lot of these numbers and i put an asterisk by some of these forecast numbers that will be records if we hit these, that could be a recordsetting rose at 98 degrees. A record of 98 possible in napa. 98 in livermore. That could be a record 97 in san jose. 82 could tie record in Half Moon Bay. So you get the idea these temperatures unusually hot tomorrow, but then we go the other way. Were going to watch these numbers. Just take a major tumble on friday. So usually can handle a couple of days, the heat, but that was when they get into for 5 days. That really wears you down. But tomorrow, get out there and enjoy it. We may not see another day like that this year. Thankfully, no wind coming along with that. Yeah. If you had some really gusty winds to go along with the seat, that could be an issue right now that doesnt look like a problem. Next week, though, we could see some of those gusty of firewood. So watching closely. Thanks, arent the warriors preseason continues tonight with the game at chase center is coach steve kerr put it. Theyve been. Couple of preseason games that weve seen this season so far. Now also talked about fact that he was excited to see chris paul and steph curry, actually how he became a thing. Those to battle each other. So hes excited to see those guys on the same side of the floor, working with other, making some magic for the warriors.
