There were three special circumstances associated with that as well. Murder of a peace officer lying in wait, and drive by. And as weve been saying, dozens of members of the Hayward Police department stood in court through the appearance, including the chief of police herself. She stood just a few feet away from the suspects mother and family. In court paperwork, we learn more details about the case. They pulled over the truck after it was swerving and nearly hit parked cars. Lunger approached the truck. His partner said he heard a brief conversation, then a boom. Lunger collapsed to the ground with a fatal head injury, and his partner fired at the truck as it sped away. The suspect, mark estrada showed up at san leandro with a gunshot wound to his left side. The bullet riddled truck is registered to estrada. Now, estradas Attorney Says its too early for all that. They say its too early to say definitively what happened. We dont know of the totality or the circumstances in this case or how those bullets occurred inside of his car and how he was in that location at that time. So until theres more facts that can be assessed and weighed, its really pure speculation. After the hearing, we tried to speak with the chief of police. But the dozens of officers there filed out without speaking. Were learning more details about the video we showed you last night. Police say after estrada showed up at the hospital, they searched his home. That appears to be the source of his video. They say it shows the van pulling up and one person getting out with a visible limp. No word yet if thats the suspect in this case.
