The man who took the photo says that traffic lights were out in the area and the air smelled like burning smoke. This is how hard it was raining in the Santa Cruz Mountains around dinner time. Lightning struck a tree and caused a live power line to come down on east san inez avenue and ramona street. Firefighters say that branch that fell was about 8 to 10 feet long. Looks like it dropped a large branch and took down the power lines. Took it down off this pole and then off several other poles laying it on the sidewalk and several cars. Firefighters say they were busy all night responding to multiple calls about lightning strikes and small fires. Pg e crews are also busy this morning after last nights thunderstorms. Right now, about 1800 customers have no power across the bay area. Most of those outages are in San Francisco and on the peninsula. Pg e says that power should be restored in most areas later this morning but may not be fully restored in San Francisco until this afternoon. Time right now is 5 04. Fire investigators are looking for a suspected arsonist after several suspicious fires in antioch. Contra costa county Authorities Say there were five fires on sunday night in an area five mile long. One fire burned part of a home and a fence. Some structure may have also burned in that fourth fire. No injuries have been reported. False alarm at san jose airport is raising Big Questions about a possible said problem. Fire alarm accidentally went off sunday at the airport. Some people say they could not get out of the emergency exit doors.
