Almost 500cases across the country and particular brand or subwithin the vaping products isnt yet known thats what i was going to ask you if we havent narrowed down whether the illness is linked to vaping products that is using nicotine or vaping products using cannabis. Thats right. Theres some theories out there. One theory is the thc containing compound, about 80 of the cases that they use contain it within a couple of weeks or few days before developing symptoms. It is some with no thc that is just nicotine. Its a theory that it is vitamin e which when heated up can cause fat damage to the lungs. So they have theorys and nearoge down what the cause might be. But we still dont know exactly what the cause is. So we cant advise the community what to avoid, and because we dont have that specificity, we are offering a general recommendation not to vape lat all. And how long do you think it will be before they can pinpoint whats the cause of the respiratory illness . We are engaging the detective work we need to answer that question. Were asking them to collect any vaping devices for anyone associated that might be ill. So if someone comes in with respiratory symptoms and others come in with an infection but its no source of infection viral to ask that person about vaping. And if they have been vaping to collect it themselves, so it can be tested. So were hoping with that qulecktive effort across the country, were hoping to get an answer soon. Across the country, the folks who have fallen ill is mainly healthy, young men. Thats what caused so much concern in the medical community. There in the county, we alluded to it at the top there. You have a growing number of teenagers that are vaping. Do you think you will reach the group with the warning you put out . Well, we certainly hope so. I mean, one of the most concerning aspects is that its hitting young people. The youngest case is 14 years old. Otherwise healthy young people. When we see it doubling in young people who started vaping in the last 2 years, 1 in 3, we think were particularly vulnerable to this. So all we can do is put the word out, and i think thats one of the reasons we have decided to have this very clear message to not vape until we have nor information. Is there any discussion at when happening aboutin the county about abandoning vaping products until more information comes to light about this illness . Well, we have been taking other steps even before this because it is other Harms Associated with vaping like addiction. We see a lot of young people becoming addicted to nicotine through vaping. And that can become cigarette use. Juul recommending their product as a safer alternative to cigarettes, young people in the hospital and family members might have a different view. Were concerned that not just now but over time developing an addiction to nicotine. So our legislators have taken pretty aggressive steps in the county to ban the sales of vaping products in our communities speak all right. Its an important discussion.
