In front of the starbucks you see the signs that say things like, united we stand. Theres a lot of support for the Community Today as it marks one year since the camp fire devastated paradise. His video of what look like youre one year ago after the thousands of homes and many businesses were destroyed. The city has issued hundreds of Building Permits and one of those businesses that recently opened his neck and bobbys boutique. The owner spoke with ktvu about how it was important to return to the community. It was important to me to reopen in paradise because paradise is my home and part of my goal for this was to be an example to the community like, hey, we can do it. Reporter city Officials Say they are turning the page from recovering to rebuilding. The town is marking this anniversary with several events throughout the day. This will include 85 seconds of silence to honor those killed in the fire. There will be a ribboncutting at the Building Resilience Center and the unveiling of the phoenix key project. One thing we noticed when we drove through town is that although there are still a lot of living in these lots in an rv. People are living in the town even if their homes have not been rebuilt yet. There is traffic and the cars going through but theres still a lot that needs to be done. We are looking at this new coffee shop, across the street there is a motel that is still just a pile of debris on the ground. The family of one of the People Killed in the Halloween Party shooting in orinda is planning to sue airbnb. The attorney said the company should have acted sooner to prevent illegal parties. Allie rasmus is in orinda this morning to talk about the lawsuit. Reporter the parents of ramon hill junior plan to fight a lawful death lawsuit. He is one of the five victims shot and killed at this party at an airbnb rental in orinda on halloween night. His picture is that this memorial alongside the pictures of other victims and some flowers, candles and handwritten notes people have been tripping to all week. The San Francisco chronicle reports the lawsuit is being filed in Contra Costa County superior court and accuses everyone involved in this other than the victims of negligence. In a statement the attorney for the family said the homeowners, hosted airbnb as well as the city and police remain complicit in operating what are essentially unregulated nightclubs. Kmart is closing its three local stores in concord, petaluma and scotts valley. Sears also shutting down its stores in san bruno and san jose. The going out of Business Sales begin december 2 after the thanksgiving and black friday weekend. The bay area orclosed more than 3500 stores in the past 15 years. They were bought by a company when they filed for bankruptcy. The owner of a wellknown San Francisco Shopping Mall is considering expanding and it has nothing to do with stores or restaurants but instead housing. The project at stonestown galleria would include a mixture of market rate and affordable housing.
