A new staff report for the San Francisco Unified School District recommends that the students start the year with distant learning. They would switch to in phar person class instruction and Distance Learning. The school board is expected to make the final decision on july 28th, three weeks before the new School Year Kicks off. Another east bay is only going to open with Distance Learning. Fremont voted for a plan that has online instruction only. The district would consider other options like a mix of online and off site education when Alameda County does not see a single new coronavirus case for an entire week. Theres 35 thousand students and 2000 teacher in the district. The first day of lessons is coming up on august 26th. The reason that they made this last night was that the state revised the requirements on thursday. Under that state order, Alameda County cannot continue the Outdoor Dining at restaurants. For the past couple of weeks the city of hayward shut down main street to vehicle traffic every saturday night in order to allow the restaurants and businesses to serve the customers outside. We have to be extra careful on this and not arow open air dining. Its very disappointing. It does not help the local economy or any local economy or the cities. This is not on the states watch list for an uptick of the cases. The neighborering county is. Under the state order that i went through, the restaurants can still continue to offer Outdoor Dining. They can do that if theyre on the state watch list. In fact, alameda is the only one in the bay area thats not allowing the Outdoor Dining under the new order. Oakland officials are asking residence to find other outdoor alternatives to visit the lake merit. They say that the park is too crowded and not allowing for proper social distancing. Officials are encouraging them to exercise other places like lake mer neverett. They say to give them a break and then thats in the parking lot and at unsafe levels. A statement from the Health Department said were moving toward obtaining a variance from the state and letter is on the agenda for next tuesdays board of supervisors meeting. Thats when they will vote top send a variance and request a special permission from the state.
