Now its expanded to every uc and Community Colleges as a prison to university pipeline. Family and friends say Pleasanton Police missed warning signs about roberts during earlier visits. They should have arrested him on the spot, regardless of what she said. We watched body cam footage of them chatting it up as he was beating her down 17 times. The police came out and did barely anything. This is an injustice that should never have happened. Ktvu south bay reporter jesse gary has video of the attack and reaction. What do you think . While the region celebrated Cinco De Mayo just days ago, this profanity laced tirade taking place at the same time became the latest instance of disunity. I was incredibly surprised the target was a man well call g as he wants to conceal his identity, he says. He and another propalestine advocate were hanging two banners on this pedestrian overpass above highway 101 near pierce road and alpine avenue. The unidentified man walks up and demands they remove the banners, or else i immediately feared for my life in a way, because he was saying it like so loud and he was like kind of shouting it like. I just felt like, okay, what if he attacks us if we dont take this down . The pair agreed to remove their signs and leave, but they say the suspect became more agitated and aggressive. He allegedly threw their personal items over the fence and onto the roadways shoulder below. Demonstrators say theyve hung banners on overpasses around the peninsula before and were on this particular overpass just a month ago without incident. Muni carries more than 440,000 weekday riders through the streets of San Francisco, while the majority of passengers pay their way, muni estimates that as many as 1 in 5 riders doesnt pay. Passengers say that doesnt surprise them. Yeah. You know, in San Francisco, everybodys trying to get their way out there on the bus. You go any other city, you got to pay. Sfmta says before the pandemic, about 12 of passengers didnt pay. Now the agency says about 20 of riders skip out on paying. The sfmta says it is in the process of bringing two dozen new fare inspectors online who will hit the road july 1st, riding transit and making sure everyone has proof of payment. What weve seen in the data is a very, very strong correlation between the presence of fare inspectors and people paying their correct fare. The sfmta says fares account for about a quarter of its income. We cant sustain muni Service Without people paying their fair fare, it is about a quarter of our operators salary. If were not able to bring fare compliance up a bit, we will have no choice but to reduce muni service to keep the new fare inspectors safe. They work in groups of three and can use radios to call for help if they see a potentially dangerous person or activity. The fare inspectors are a huge part of our safety program. Theyre very presence on the vehicle helps to make sure that everything stays chill. The sfmta says seeing people not pay can make other riders think they dont have to pay either. But the agency says a lot of those riding who dont appear to be paying have in fact paid for their rides. If they have the muni app, for example, they dont need to tag in like clipper card users. And remember, there are a lot of those who ride for free, like the kids, the elderly, and the disabled. In San Francisco, christien kafton, ktvu, fox two news. The boy was reportedly visiting his grandparents on the island at the time. California drivers will soon be seen even higher prices there at the gas pump, as ktvu is, tom vacar reports. A new increase to the gas tax is scheduled to take effect in july. Its a tale of two gas stations two blocks apart. The cash price at the 76 station in orinda is 5. 39 a gallon, but at the mash gas and food, its 489 a half buck cheaper for the folks we met that makes mash where they spend their cash. Its at least 0. 50 cheaper here. Over the years weve covered this station. It has always had a good audience, and simply because they try to pass the savings on to consumers, not themselves, there are several, low income senior buildings, and it really helps us out in even though we live in orinda, were low income seniors. Im selective where i get my gas from, for one thing. Like, i come to this gas station going back and forth through fiddletown and San Francisco. One man says its all about too much government. One example, a coming carbon tax that might add as much as 0. 50 a gallon, possibly next year, to fight climate change. People that are running the state right now, and the regulations associated with the gas prices, and i just i dont like it. The nationwide average price for a gallon of regular gas is 3, and 0. 62. 0. 08 more than a year ago, california seniors average price 529 0. 49. More than a year ago, the average bay area price is 545 0. 59. More than a year ago, using the current bay area price, a round trip drive to South Lake Tahoe from oakland is 364 miles. An average californians car now gets 31 miles a gallon, the best in the nation, but that round trip tahoe adventure is going to cost you 64 in regular gas. And thats at least seven bucks more than a year ago. And 800 mile round trip to disneyland will cost 140 for regular gas. Thats at least 15 more than a year ago, but is that enough to seriously affect Summer Travel . I think a lot of us will travel no matter what. We just start to weigh the price of flying versus driving. I mean, if its close enough, people are going to fly. I think i know i would. We had a nice day today. These are the temperatures that will show up on your screen in just a minute from today that were logged as high temperatures. We saw numbers in the 70s and low 80s, which was a little bit cooler than what we had yesterday, which was some low 80s, even mid 80s. Tomorrow. Go back to that. Were going to warm up a degree or two. So its going to be slight fluctuations. This week throughout the week, a live picture shot or lights camera shot pardon me. And this is out by antioch in pittsburgh. And you can see the clouds off in the sierra nevada. The clouds that are up there. And you can see the traffic on the highway and the green grass starting to turn a little brown as we move into the summer months. Theres the fog right now, and you can see it already shooting. This is not the model. This is a live fog satellite imagery. And you can see the fog shooting all the way over to berkeley right now, and then up into the point reyes area as well, up towards inverness. Bunch of fog. Its a deeper marine layer and thats what will thats what well get to push inland and the push inland comes on the heels of the stronger winds right to spring winds and the winds blow and the ocean upwells and gets colder and the fog comes back in. And so you get a bit of a feedback loop. And that is summer. And that is whats happening right now. Whats not summer right now. But were kind of in that were in that slot, if you will. So not in mind were going to be looking at winds next few days in the mid 20s along the coast and at the airports like sfo and oakland. And then were going to be looking at temperatures that will be a little warmer and then a little cooler. So its going to be a very nice week ahead. Michael cohen, the former attorney for donald trump, now a star witness against him, took the stand in new york monday. Cohen testified about a secret recording where he said trump asked about paying david pecker, the National Enquirer publisher, in cash, to buy and suppress mcdougals story. So im im all over that, and i spoke to alan about it. When it comes time for the financing, which will be what financing well have to pay you. So no, no, no, no no no no, i got. Cohen said trump knew about the plans to conceal the payments by using fabricated Bank Accounts and reimbursements. Prosecutors presented documents including a First Republic bank account, which cohen testified was used for the 130,000 payout to stormy daniels. Trump denies the affairs and any knowledge of the payout cover ups, saying before court that he only knew of Legal Expenses. For cohen. Its marked down in the book, quote, Legal Expense is perfectly marked down. The defense raised few objections during the testimony and is expected to cast doubt on cohens credibility later this week. Its going to be nice again tomorrow. Temperatures will come up a little bit. They came down a little today. But this whole week is going to be up down up down. Subtle changes 2 or 3 degrees up 2 or 3 degrees down. Fog remains at the coast. Theyll be night and morning fog and well see temperatures. It was cooler today by a couple of degrees, but well see temperatures generally a little warmer than these. So low upper 70s to low 80s to mid 80s as we go through the week. And youll see that represented in the five day forecast and a live picture outside, you can kind of see a little bit of haze in the atmosphere, the fog. You dont pick up here because were looking more towards the east there you pick up on the fog and you can see it sitting right off the coast and pushing inland. This is right now. Its not the model, its actually the, live or the live satellite imagery. I can show you the model then talking about that expansion of the marine layer and then its intrusion. This is tomorrow morning. So that marine layer picks up, pushes inland, gets pretty far inland. Tomorrow morning, does the same thing it did this afternoon. And then wednesday morning a little bit of an intrusion. Not as quite as much. So a little warmer on wednesday right. Because you dont have much fog to work with. And then thursday you saw that big push of fog. So more fog. So perhaps a couple of degrees cooler. And its that fluctuation, those fluctuations, the deeper marine layer further inland, shallower marine layer and not as far inland representing a cool down or a warm up. And thats how the week and its subtle like 2 or 3 degrees. Were not expecting anything real hot, anything real cool. The breezes are doing exactly what theyre supposed to do for this time of year. The right now, temperatures show the microclimates lining up the greens representing 60s and low 70s, and then all the way up away from the influence of the coastal marine area. You got mild to warm temperatures into the 80s. Cooler right now in napa and concord and in oakland a little warmer at sfo than it was yesterday. These are the forecast highs for tomorrow. And you can see it is definitely warmer in fairfield. Im fairfield today in the 70s to tomorrow or. Yeah 77 fairfield tomorrow will be in the mid 80s. So a few degrees warmer 82 in santa rosa and 70 in oakland. So a nice nice week ahead. Weve had some nice weather runs and weve got a good one coming on. Now. You know the story is going to be again this week with the fog what we talked about. But i also think their pollen counts and such because its been a really nasty pollen year and especially with the trees and the grasses and weeds are just coming on. So especially away from the coast, if youre a hay fever sufferer, hang on to those those allergy medications for a few more weeks. Ill see you back here in a little bit. All right bill, thank you.
