This demands indefinitely closed borders, an even longer lockdown, and a fantastical restructuring of the economy. The other side is determined to stay true to ‘Global Britain’ while somehow managing the risks of vaccine-resistant escape variants – and avoiding the doom loop of seasonal winter lockdowns.
