Fort Wayne has many cultural treasures: the Beaux-Arts architecture of the Allen County Courthouse; the graceful symmetry of Forest Park Boulevard and Old Mill Road, emplaced, respectively, near
to the equally elegant Lakeside Rose Garden and Foster Park flower gardens and golf course; the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, which punches above its weight in beautiful paintings for an important regional gallery; and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, whose very legacy continues to refine the emplacement of the Summit City in a special musical cityscape.
There remains, however, a hidden gem in the cultural diadem of Fort Wayne that deserves far more attention than it is getting. WBNI-FM is perhaps the finest and most majestic-sounding station in Indiana, and has become a kind of pacesetter for the all-too-rare existence of classical music on the radio in America during an era desperate for the kind of beauty this station offers in its dignified, surpassing manner.
