Utah Senator Mitt Romney sold his oceanfront home in La Jolla for $23.5million
The initial house was a three bedroom 3,000sqft property which was demolished to make way for 8,100sqft five-bedroom mansion
Mansion comes complete with four-car garage and a car elevator 
Home was used as an example of him being out of touch during the 2012 election
Backlash arose through worries the property would affect access to the public beach but ultimately the Senator kept his word and the beach was unaffected
La Jolla locals were also upset with the mansion's design claiming it to be 'out of place' with the neighborhood
