The taxi driver on our way from Islamabad to Muzaffarabad, fuming both at American forces and Pakistan government for the turbulent political and security situation in the country causing socio-economic problems, maintained that Kashmir (Pakistan administered) had been more peaceful. Hailing from Rawalpindi, he enquired whether the ‘Other Kashmir’ was as beautiful as he had heard. I gave a description, skirting the new distinctions of Valley of violence and Srinagar’s claim to fame fourth dirtiest city in India, dwelling only on the nature’s several bounties. The man sighed and said, \”Badi ziadati hai na jee…aapko itna acha Kashmir de diya, humein kya yeh siraf pahad hi pahad de diye.\”
