N.J.-based QuickChek chain bought by large retailer for $645M

New Jersey-based QuickChek is about to have a new owner.
Murphy USA announced Monday that it had reached an agreement to acquire the Whitehouse Station-based convenience store and gas station chain for $645 million.
Murphy is a “leading retailer of gasoline and convenience merchandise” with nearly 1,500 sites located primarily in the Southwest, Southeast and Midwest United States, according to a release from Murphy USA. The majority of Murphy USA’s sites are located in close proximity to Walmart stores.
“QuickChek and Murphy USA both reflect a family heritage and a strong people culture,” QuickChek CEO and Chairman Dean Durling said in a statement. “I am thrilled by Murphy USA’s commitment to honor our legacy and preserve our brand while learning from our business model.
