Lake Travis sisters Katie Tackett and Jackie Eichelberger had an extra reason — actually, two — to be grateful this past holiday season.
With a family member laid off from work and their service-oriented businesses shut down due to COVID-19 protocols, Thanksgiving could have been a real downer. But their new Spicewood surroundings proved to be very “neigh”-borly.
Together with her husband and children, Tackett’s family lived next door to her parents and brother on Lakeway Drive before they found a large property listed for purchase off Texas 71 in Spicewood. Following the sale of the Eichelbergers’ home in Cedar Park as well as both Lakeway houses, the trio of families fulfilled a lifelong dream: to share a Central Texas compound. In July, the group relocated to a 9-acre ranch that formerly served as landscape business, Living Desert Cactus, with the elders occupying the existing home on the site while the younger families live in RVs as they build their own houses.
