On Dec. 6, I was at a protest outside Florida State Prison in Raiford. Soon after we arrived, the Bradford County Sheriff's Office showed up and ordered us to leave, saying there was no legal place there for a protest to occur.
Though many of us felt we did have a right to protest there, we went back to our cars to leave. But before we could leave, I watched as three people were senselessly arrested, with one person sent to the hospital in an ambulance. Now those individuals are heading to trial, set to begin with jury selection on July 19.
