COSHOCTON – Sometimes what seems like a longshot can be life’s destiny in the making. So it was for Eddie Dovenbarger.
“As a kid growing up,” he explained, “I always thought we were on the wrong side of town. I was one of eight kids, only four graduating from high school. I was the only one to go to college. I guess we were poor, but really didn’t know it. I roamed the streets and went from church youth group to church youth group just trying to fit in.
“I was always a good student,” he added, “and gravitated to the teachers in elementary school for guidance and acceptance. Early on, I went to the bowling alley with my dad and would help grade papers with teachers down there watching their spouse’s bowl.
