Ram Temple: The pran pratishtha ceremony at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on Monday marks the culmination of a 70-year struggle between Hindus and Muslims over the ownership of the Ram Janmabhoomi. KK Nayar, the district collector of Faizabad in 1949, played a key role in the placement of idols inside the Babri Masjid, defying then Prime Minister Nehru's order to remove them. Nayar's profile is included in the invitation to the ceremony. On the other hand, Nripendra Misra, a retired IAS officer, is overseeing the construction of the temple as the chairman of the committee.
