On May 6, contributions to North Platte Giving Day totaled $371,000, a sharp increase over the day’s total a year ago — which at that time was a record-setting amount.
The most donations by far went to the Community Build Playground fund for an elaborate playground in Centennial Park. They raised a total of $104,000, which included $14,000 in matching funds.
A building date will be announced soon, organizers said.  
Overall, Giving Day is in its sixth year. Organizers said 1,425 donors contributed to 71 organizations this year.
A year ago, the total donations on Giving Day was $265,036. Later donations boosted the total to $287,826.  When the day ended, the total donations amounted to $265,936; but later, more donations arrived, adding another $22,000.
