MANSFIELD — The $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill that President Joe Biden signed in March will send nearly $37 million to Richland County's K-12 public schools.
The amount of federal relief among districts varies widely since funding is based on how much districts receive from Title I of the Every Student Succeeds Act, the largest federal program for disadvantaged students.
Schools have until September 2024 to spend the funds, at least 20% of which have to be used to address learning loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, such as summer school.
Mansfield City Schools is getting about $16 million, the most of any school district in Richland County.
