Services are going to be met. To be confidential but i dont have to worry about anyone looking at me or making me feel less a visit with a clinician come take anywhere from 10 minutes if you have a straightforward concern, to over an hour if something goes on that needs a little bit more help. We have some testing with you on site. So all of our samples we collect here. Including blood draws. We sent to the lab from here so people will need to go elsewhere to get their specimens collect. Then we have a few test we do run on site. So those would be pregnancy test, hiv rapid test, and hepatitis b rapid test. People get those results the same day of their visit. I think its important for transgender, gender neutral people to understand this is the most confidence, the most comfortable and the most knowledgeable place that you can come to. Onsite we have condoms as well as depoprovera which is also known as [inaudible] shot. We can prescribe other forms of contraception. Pills, a patch and rain. We provide pap smears to women who are uninsured in San Francisco residents or, to women who are enrolled in a statefunded program called family pack. Pap smears are the recommendationrecommended Screening Test for monitoring for early signs of cervical cancer. We do have a fair amount of our own stuff the day of his we can try to get answers for folks while they are here. Whenever we have that as an option we like to do that obviously to get some diagnosed and treated on the same day as we can. In terms of how many people were able to see in a day, we say roughly 100 people. If people are very brief and straightforward visits, we can sternly see 100, maybe a little more. We might be understaffed that they would have a little complicated visits we might not see as many folks. So if we reach our target number of 100 patients early in the day we may close our doors early for droppings. To my best advice to be senior is get here early. We do have a website but its sf city clinic. Working theres a wealth of information on the website but our hours and our location. As well as a kind of kind of information about stds, hiv, theres a lot of information for providers on our list as well. Patients are always welcome to call the clinic for theres a lot of information for providers on our list as well. Patients are always welcome to call the clinic for 15, 40 75500. The phones answered during hours for clients to questions. Hi, everybody. Welcome to laguna honda. [cheering] and before we get started, my grandmother spent almost 14 years here at laguna honda, and so many of you took incredible care of miss camelia brown. I want to give a special shout out to denise and so many people here who day in and day out take care of some of our most vulnerable folks that rely on us to care for them every day. We are so grateful to be here with our governor, gavin newsom. [cheers and applause] he has already hit the ground running, and we know from experience of being a former mayor of San Francisco, he understands intimately all the challenges that we as a city face, which really is going to be so incredible for our city and cities across the state of california for all the things we know we need to do to change california for the better. Laguna honda is a key part of San Franciscos Health Network, which cares for one in eight san franciscans. Primarily people who are uninsured, low income, or for from our immigrant communities. And includes not only laguna honda, but San Francisco general , and smaller clinics across our city, and Health Services in our county jail. Here at laguna honda, more than 1,000 patients each year receive care for complex conditions like h. I. V. And alzheimers and dementia, and other Mental Illnesses and disorders, and we have, for patients who are suffering from strokes or brain injuries, or spinal injuries, or other trauma. These treatments require longterm and specialized care, as so many of you here know, and they commonly include medications as part of the treatment plan. However, it is a wellknown fact that these medications are expensive, and can drive up the cost of healthcare for millions of people who need these drugs to survive. The San FranciscoHealth Network is constantly working to find ways to save money on drug costs for uninsured patients. We work with federal programs like the 340 b. Program that provides drugs at a discounted rate for some of our facilities, but facilities like laguna honda , or our county jail, our Behavioral Health clinic, they dont qualify for those federal discounts. Not to mention the medications used in treatment plans at these facilities are some of the most expensive medications. The Health Network purchases more than 3,000 drugs for patients who dont qualify for 340 b. Discounts, and just the 25 most expensive drugs, of those costs, it because our city more than 17 million each year. When we have people struggling on the streets of San Francisco, with Mental Health challenges and Substance Use disorders, or people spending thousands of dollars on lifesaving medication for h. I. V. And aids, or people fighting a battle with cancer, we need to be focused on helping them recover and heal, not whether or not they can afford to pay for the medication this is the same case at many healthcare facilities, not only in San Francisco, but across the entire state of california and the nation, and this is why i am so thrilled to be joining governor gavin newsom here today to announce a San Francisco will be joining the efforts to bring down medication costs in our city. [applause] we will work hard to bring down the cost of those medications. We have worked hard over the years, but we know there is so much more that we can do, and by joining forces with other counties across the state, we know that we can make a difference in the lives of millions of patients. We are joined here today by two other bay area counties in making this commitment, alameda and Santa Clara County, and please join me in acknowledging our new department of Public Health director, dr. Grant koufax who is here with us today [applause] at this time, i would like to call to the podium colleen who has spent about 13 years working for the department of Public Health in San Francisco. She is an Incredible Health care advocate, now heading up Alameda County department of Public Health. [applause] good morning, everyone. It makes me so happy to see so many familiar faces here, and to be able to bring my new county in partnership with my old city and county in this really exciting endeavor. Alameda county is pleased to stand with Governor Newsom to leverage the collective garb Bargaining Power as a state in its counties to lower the cost of Prescription Drugs for all californians. I would like to thank the governor for his leadership on this important issue. Alameda countys vision 2026 is in alignment with the Health Forward agenda. Vision 2026 is our comprehensive effort to set a course for a decade that anticipates Community Challenges and maximizes our ability to meet residentss needs in this rapidly changing world. Vision 2026 foresees a thriving and resilient population where individuals and communities are empowered to overcome adversity and be supported so they can grow, flourish and be selfsufficient. Essential to achieving this vision is our ten goal of healthcare for all, which seeks to ensure that every person in Alameda County has access to the care and services they need to live their healthiest lives. Governor newsoms collaborative approach to obtaining Prescription Drug costs will put us closer to a comprehensive solution for affordable and accessible healthcare for all. Collectively, Public Healthcare providers and other safety net providers in Alameda County, spends tens of millions of dollars each year on Prescription Drugs for our countys most vulnerable residents. While many of these drugs are acquired through the federal 343 b. Program which may or breed referenced, drugs purchased for individuals accessing our behavioral Health Services or our inmates and our jails do not this means that we are surely paying more than we need to for these medications, diverting valuable resources from other safety net programs and services this presents an important opportunity for our county and others to partner with the governors Healthcare Team to explore how we can make drugs more affordable in our safety net Healthcare System. Additionally, this approach will foster regional collaboration through the sharing of information and protocols and best practices. Alameda county is looking forward to partnering with the governors office, and our county colleagues to explore the promise of this timely endeavor. At this point, i would like to welcome miguel marques, marquez, the chief operating officer for the county of santa clara. [applause] thank you, colleen, and thank you Governor Newsom for inviting slight Santa Clara County to participate in this event and in this work, and thank you mayor breed for hosting this event today. Over the years, Santa Clara County has implement it programs to expand coverage and affordable options that move us closer to providing healthcare for all. Indeed, our board of supervisors has officially supported a single payer Healthcare System. And Santa Clara County, we are proud to operate three hospitals , and a dozen clinics located throughout the county. Each of which provides highquality, integrated healthcare to the 2 million members of our community. Like the governor, we know that innovation through the Healthcare System, including a path to single payer systems will help us reach our shared vision of Better Health for all. That is why we are excited by the opportunity to work with the governor and with so many other partners throughout the state to take on the high cost of Prescription Drugs. Year after year, pharmaceutical Companies Continue to increase the price of brandname drugs. We all need to ask the question, do Prescription Drugs really have to be that expensive . Wild drug purchasing practices are complex, we must look for and implement Innovative Solutions to reduce these costs. Federal policies have not done enough to control drug prices. In the absence of federal leadership, local and State Government need to partner and need to think creatively about how to leverage our collective buying power to negotiate better prices for our residents. Last year, Santa Clara CountyValley Medical Center spent more than 120 million on pharmaceuticals. Giving the extrude nearly high cost of Prescription Drugs, we have been looking for opportunities for savings. We welcome the chance to work with the state and with other partners to explore options to reduce these costs. As you know, public helps it Health Systems play an especially important and unique role in delivering care, services, and treatment to the patients in the communities we serve, especially the uninsured and the underinsured. We are a safety net Healthcare System that is proud to offer topnotch care to all who need it, but to do that, we need to explore all opportunities to reduce costs whenever possible so that our limited resources can better be spent to help the homeless, the mentally ill, and other vulnerable members of our community. A number of years ago, the county of santa clara was the first county in the nation to ensure that every child, regardless of immigration status , could get healthcare services. We are especially proud to support the governors efforts to become the first state in the country to provide coverage to young, undocumented adults. Thank you, governor for leading the way for these young adults. Santa clara county and the state of california have aggressively implemented the Affordable Care act. It has been a huge success. Just a couple of numbers. In Santa Clara County alone, more than 100,000 140,000 residents gained coverage through this expansion. Another 45,000 plus have subsidized coverage through coverage california, that is just in Santa Clara County. And most important, the bottom line number, the uninsured rate in Santa Clara County has dropped by 50 3 . So the time is now to take the next step. We are fortunate to have a governor who is a champion for these important issues. We look forward to working with the governor to make Better Health for all, californias highest priority. Thank you very much. [applause] thank you, miguel. I also would like to take this opportunity to introduce someone who has been a champion for laguna honda, our supervisor for district two, Catherine Stefani is joining us here today. Thank you so much. [applause] and now i would like to introduce our governor, who we all know was a former mayor of San Francisco, someone who led innovative programs, pushed to really change San Francisco and california for the better, samesex marriage, he was the one who put forth the idea and opened the doors for so many people to get married at city hall, when so many people attacked them on this issue, and now it is gone global and has been recognized throughout the United States, 311 was just his brainchild, this innovative resource that we use to call to deal with a number of challenges in the city, so many incredible resources that we use today, and now, is a governor in his budget , he will continue to provide the support and the resources that we need to address many of the challenges that exist in San Francisco. We also should know that he really led the charge on the rebuild on the hospital to the new facility that we see today. The governor of the state of california, gavin newsom. [applause] thank you, thank you. This is fun coming back. The couple of you were showing me photos ten years ago, pregrey hair, and this is remarkable that this place opened. I remember standing here during the ribboncutting, and i think i used a line, which i am now reminded of, at the time we were doing something with a Skilled Nursing facility. Also ten years ago, that was novel and no one was investing in this place. People so the county couldnt afford it and we had to move in a different direction. We get it when it comes to Skilled Nursing facilities and keeping people in place. We are on the leading and cutting edge and doing something no one else is willing to do. I remember saying that the mayor of athens said, he says, we do not imitate, for we are a model to others. I say that then, nine plus years ago, i will say it again today in the context in the spirit that brings us here together around the issue of Prescription Drugs. We do not imitate because we are a model to others what we are advancing here today is new, what we are advancing here today matters what were doing today is what i expect others to be doing tomorrow, not just other counties joining californias purchasing pole, but other states joining californias purchasing pool. Leveraging our resources, big buyers mean lower costs. The fact is, in the state of california, 13 plus billion dollars a year, your tax dollars are currently being spent on Prescription Drugs. I will repeat that, 13 plus billion dollars a year. The problem is, we were isolating the purchasing. We had jails doing their purchasing, we had the state hospitals doing their purchasing , we had our retirement system doing their purchasing, we had the va doing their purchasing, we had our medical system, which is 13 million strong, we were only leveraging 2 million of those 13 million in our purchasing pool. Just combining the medical system alone, taking the 2 billion and leveraging the purchasing now with 13 billion is going to drive hundreds of millions of dollars of savings on an annual basis. We project in our budget that we just submitted a few weeks back, or a week or so ago, that we will save conservatively 393 million because of this purchasing effort. Thats just on an annual basis, 400 million of money that we otherwise would spend that would allow us to provide discounts, to provide additional subsidies to reduce those costs each to each and every one of you. If we are not curious about these drugs, we are not curious about addressing the cost as it relates to the issue of healthcare inflation. This is one of the principal drivers. We have seen close to doubling of our costs in the state, doubling of our cost in the state, just in the last nine years. This cannot continue. With all due respect to big pharma, i have no problem, no gripe with people being successful, i dont begrudge success, i appreciate competition, i appreciate research, i appreciate the kind of innovation that we pride ourselves on, but i dont like people taking advantage of other people. I dont like gouging, i dont like windfalls, i dont like folks, you know, getting massive bonuses and, you know, at the expense of folks that are struggling on the streets and the sidewalks. This is a foundational principle , it is a value i know laguna Honda Community shares. It is a value that san franciscans share, it is of value the mayor shares, it is shared broadly throughout this state and substantial of lee, around this region in santa clara, in alameda, that value now is being brought to the forward in terms of counties joining the state purchasing pool. We had hoped this would happen in a year or two, maybe three, but here we are, just weeks after announcing l. A. County joining our purchasing pool, no three additional counties are joining the purchasing pool. This is remarkable. The momentum is real, and this is exciting because we are actually making progress in realtime. This is not just platitudes, this is not just a tweet, this is not just a promotion, it is not just a promise, we are seeing things happen in realtime , so i just want to thank the enlightened leadership that you heard from today. They didnt need to do this, it was wise to do it, but they didnt need to do it, but the fact that they are doing it, and they are doing it on the front end, is an extraordinary testament to mayor breeds commitment not passing interest to bring down the cost of Prescription Drugs and the cost of healthcare in this county. Colleens commitment and miguel s commitment to do the same is a big deal, so i dont want to undersell this moment. I want to appropriately sell it. I want to overhyped i dont want to overhyped it, but this is significant. We have governors calling this state wanting to join our efforts. We believe this is the beginning of a different frame of momentum not topdown, god bless watching congress, pretzels trying to deal with big pharma, this is bottom up. It is a new frame. I will tell you, a california, we just reached at 3 trillion year mar. We punch above our rate, and there are only four nations on planet earth that carry more wait then the state of california. We are truly a nationstate, the fifth largest economy in the world, the United States is one of those economies ahead of us, only a few others that have the capacity to do what we are doing as a state. Now the second largest purchaser outside the v. A. And the United States itself in the country. This is important. I want to express and acknowledge the hard work of our team in sacramento that is working overtime to get this right, to make sure we do it right. I want to thank the counties for building that momentum, and i want you all to know that we are inviting the private sector to join our purchasing pools. We want to see Companies Large and small also join in and take advantage of our ability to leverage and to sit at that table as one purchaser, not just aggregated as thousands of purchasers. We are formed where pharma has the power, now we are taking back that power and we are leveraging that power over the table. Hugh merrow costs 96 more in the United States than it does in the u. K. Some medications are 100 more then the folks in the u. K. Give me a break. With all due respect, it is not just about well, we do the research on the development, we have to pay for that, the people who do the most research and the development are people like you. Through our grants, through our tax dollars. They leverage those, they supplement those, and we are proud of that research. But give me a break. They do it because they can. They do it because no one is pushing back. They do it because they leverage influence of the people like me. They come in with a lot of money and they come into leverage their point of view and they usually scare folks instead of doing the right thing, but they cant scare the leaders assembled behind me, and the cannot change the trajectory of a state that says, we have had enough. We are better than this. We will do more and we are going to leverage our voice in a way that respects the people of this state that we represent, so thank you all for coming out. Thank you for being part of this announcement and all this extraordinary momentum and know this, in closing, this is just one of many things the state of california is doing to expand healthcare in this state. Our budget, briefly, is going to expand coverage regardless of your immigration status. Our budget will double substantially and increase by doubling our annual contribution and our medical system through proposition 56. Forgive me for boring you on that, but we will increase our reimbursement rates, more trauma screenings, more early screenings to address issues before they manifest, we are going to deepen subsidies for low income families on the health exchange, and expand subsidies into the middle class. The only state in america that is expanding subsidies for families earning up to 150,000 a year. We are very proud of these efforts. Our goal is universal. Our goal is to get this done through a single parent financing system, but until we advance those ideals, we will build pragmatic steps, make progress each and every week until we ultimately get to those goals. Thank you, San Francisco, thank you to Mother Nature for adding a little energy, thank you mayor breed for hosting us here today. [applause]. Thank you. I dont know if there are questions, how do you want to do this . I will let the electives go, and supervisor, very wonderful you are here as well. Any questions, we will do it out here. We will let you all go. Thank you, guys, very much. [applause] shop and dine in the 49 promotes local businesses and challenges residents to do their shopping and dining within the 49 square miles of San Francisco. By supporting local Services Within our neighborhoods, we help San Francisco remain unique, successful, and vibrant. So where will you shop and dine in the 49 . My name is ray behr. I am the owner of chief plus. Its a destination Specialty Foods store, and its also a Corner Grocery store, as well. We call it cheese plus because theres a lot of additions in addition to cheese here. From fresh flowers, to wine, past a, chocolate, our dining area and espresso bar. You can have a casual meeting if you want to. Its a Real Community gathering place. What makes little polk unique, i think, first of all, its a great pedestrian street. Theres people out and about all day, meeting this neighbor and coming out and supporting the businesses. The businesses here are almost all exclusively independent owned small businesses. It harkens back to supporting local. Polk street doesnt look like anywhere u. S. A. It has its own businesses and personality. We have Clothing Stores to gallerys, to personal service stores, where you can get your hsus repaired, luggage repaired. Theres a music studio across the street. Its raily a diverse and unique offering on this really great street. I think san franciscans should shop local as much as they can because they can discover things that they may not be familiar with. Again, the marketplace is changing, and, you know, you look at a screen, and you click a mouse, and you order something, and it shows up, but to have a tangible experience, to be able to come in to taste things, to see things, to smell things, all those things, its good morning, everyone. You guys should be excited. Good morning. Thank you. I serve as the director of public works in the city and county of San Francisco. On behalf of public works, we are very excited because we are going to be a tenant in this new building 49 south vanness. How about a big hand for that. [applause. ] i am also excited to be here to celebrate a Major Construction milestone. Today is very, very exciting not just for public works but for the other nine city departments that will be relocated into this stateofthearts building upon its completion. At the end of our ceremony, we will raise the final steel beam into place to complete the structural framing of this new 430,000 square foot building. 430,000 square foot building. How about a big hand for that. [applause. ] it will house approximately 1800cit1800city staff to movet summer. This gives us a good reason to celebrate. I want to thank all of those forgetting us here today. Thank you builders, the prime contractors. Lets give them a big hand. The Development Firm and the architects worked on many projects. Lets give them a big hand. Public works takes great pride in the Public Private partnerships such as this one as they help bring the citys vision for a modern advanced San Francisco to life. I also want to give a special shout out to the project management team. Lets give them a big hand. [cheers and applause. ] all of this work would not happen, however, without the leadership from our elected officials who allow for Capital Infrastructure projects to be approved and implemented. With that said i have the pleasure of introducing our mayor london breed to say a few words about this project. Welcome, mayor breed. Thank you. You know, as someone who grew up in the city and someone who has had to get permits and get permits specifically for festivals and community events, it was often times frustrating works through did bureaucracy. One minute it is the Planning Department in this building then to city hall, then down the street somewhere that you couldnt find, and the fact is this building what is so amazing. We are bringing 10 city agencies together in one building with a central permitting system that would make it easier to do construction projects, would make it easier for entertainment, easier for events and all of the things we do in San Francisco that make San Francisco such a great city. It is about making bureaucracy more efficient. That is what this building is about. I know people dont get excited around efficiency, but i do. Because i know you all remember when it was taking us 18 months to build one accessory dwelling unit and putting out an executive directive to bring in the Fire Department and planning and Building Department to Work Together. We completely reduced the time. Now it takes up to six months. Streamlining the process is critical to building more housing and making sure the festivals and events and nightlife that we are so excited to have in our city continues without delay because San Francisco as we know is a special place, but we only work when we work more efficiently together. I am excited, and i know those over 1800 employees are excited to have new bathrooms and shower and places to park bicycles and the other great things we are adding to new buildings. I want to thank everyone who is building this place and the work you are doing to get this building built on time and hopefully on budget. You know that is important to us. More importantly, how this is going to be one of the projects that really changes how we do business in San Francisco. No longer will you have people going on line to those different places where they complain about the process and what they have to do to get a permit. What i want to see them going on line to say is, wow, the city makes it easier. They have a new permitting process to get permit online and it doesnt take that long. That is what this place is about. I want to thank all of you for being here today. I also would like to acknowledge which i think is absolutely incredible that we will have an on site child care at this location as well so that families who work for our city in those various departments have a place to take their children. This budget that i Just Announced last week also including 7. 7 million to digital the city permitter and create an electronic review process. San francisco is the technicaltal of the world but our city is a little behind schedule. We have to make the right investments to get to a better place. This is making bureaucracy more efficient. I want to thank all of you who have played a Critical Role in doing that. Probably the only member of the board of supervisors who cares about efficiency the way that i do is my former colleague on the board who is supervisor for district 6. I want to ask supervisor aaron peskin to say a few brief words. Supervisor peskin thank you, mayor breed. I am the supervisor representing the Northeast Corner of the city, but i share with mayor breed the desire to have a one stopper hitting shop for everything in San Francisco, and this floor print of almost an acre, 40,000 square feet, is precisely the right way to do it whether it is integrating planning and building and health and fire. This is going to be a huge step forward for the city and county of San Francisco. Thank you to related, thank you to public works. I cannot wait for it to be finished. [applause. ] it is not easy to get projects done in our city. The person who is a leader to make sure we put forward the responsible policies and budgeting practices to allow an opportunity like this and recognizing we need to make the city more efficient and provide facilities that are safe and Energy Efficient is really the leader, one of the leaders of the city, our city administrator, naomi kelly. Good morning. I have to say i am so honored to be here today. I want to thank mayor breed, supervisor peskin. They were with us in the beginning. We had to go to them to help with financing. Part of that was selling off three city buildings to get into this one beautiful building that will have a one stopper mitt center. Part permit center. Why they supported us to open a restaurant you need 20 permits from 13 different city locations all over the city, not just one spot. If we get a one stopper mitt ste permitting that is how we kick started this. I promised we are not just about brick and mortar colocation. We need to streamline that process to make the permitting process more customer friendly through digital. I want to thank the mayor and board through funding those opportunities. In this building is the department of public works, building inspections, city planning, environmental services. In the one stopper mitter shop in addition to those major departments it will include the Fire Department, public utilities, office of small business, Entertainment Commission and we are looking at other satellite departments to touch the building in here, m. T. A. , office of cannabis, disability. Police, board of appeals and tax collector. That is all important. As the mayor talked about a. D. U. Pilot and trying to streamline that process, let me drilling down what our team is looking at. As we currently before if you were an a. D. U. Permit resident you needed five different departments, answer 516 questions and navigate multiple applications and forms, as we looked at that we want to unduplicate questions we are asking over and over. We needed 289 questions. We could stop asking the same question 227 times. That is what we are looking for. One clap is good government. That is the bureaucracy mayor breed and supervisor peskin wanted eliminated. Then we will make it digital. I am excited to be here today. Thank you tom, john, stephanie and all of those and ken leading this out of my office and Melissa White house. You have all been fabulous to make sure we are not thinking about this as brick and mortar but streamlining the process. Thank you. Next up our partner in the begins, matt woody is instrumental to make sure he works with us every step of the way. He works on many projects. This is one that is near and dear to my house. Up next matt woody from related california. [applause. ] thank you, mayor breed, city administrator kelly, director, i am matt woody. We are overseeing the development of this unusual project. In the city like San Francisco that is so land constrained, it is rare to find a 2. 5acre site, much less acquire it in the heart of the city close to Public Transportation and codevelop it. That is the reason we are here to celebrate. I would like to recognize the vision and leadership of our former mayor ed lee. Many years ago as city administrator mayor lee began creating the one stopper mitt center to simplify the process. This including the food truck to a project like this, everything you need approval for in San Francisco. This is less than a year away from realizing his vision. Later on, as mayor, he was instrumental in acquiring this site from Goodwill Industries in 2014. This is the type of thing we look to do. It is something we are going to be proud of it a year from now when it opens. I would like to recognize the people you have heard about from the supervisor and mayor. Chief among them is john updike, josh keene, john ram, jeff jocelyne and dan snider from planning. Edgar lopez at public works and Charles Sullivan from the City Attorneys Office who work with us to get us to this point. Related has been partnering with the city and working in San Francisco for over 30 years on large projects of this type. Innovative Public Private partnership is the type of challenge world class developments we work to do. 49 south vanness fillings the need to consolidate the city to one place as you have heard. By designing abconstructing both buildings at the same time we had the unique opportunity to plan and consider the needs for both buildings. I would like to kill out som and their team who work with us and the city to get these two buildings less than 200 feet apart to look as compatible as we can agree they do. The results of 1. 3 million square folk and two magnificent buildings to bring 1800 City Employees and apartment complex is unique in San Francisco. This mixed use is proof of what San Francisco can accomplish when we Work Together with optimism. Thank you very much. Lets hear from the team on the ground getting this building done. Come on up. Thank you for introducing me. I am joe mckeown. I have the honor to stand up with this great group of speakers. I hope i can live up to their charm and wit. Welcome. This is a place of pride for all of the workers. This is our daily life and family. We are here to Work Together to build this great building for the city and county of San Francisco. We appreciate related california and the city and county of San Francisco to build this building that will live on for the next 100 years to serve the city and county of San Francisco. A special thanks to the teams that show up every day and work hard building this building. [applause. ] it is the Skilled Trades men and women behind me today that have worked over 260,000 hours on this building. They excavated 92,000 cubic yards ofvillsoil. Today will hang the last beam of 2200tons of 2300tons of structural iron. I am proud to represent this team and i would like to ask you to join me in a great round of applause for the men and women behind me who are the heart and soul of this project. Thank you. [applause. ] thank you. Now, mayor, we will go sign the beam and we can get our signatures and it makes the journey to the 16th floor to complete the structural work, and next summer this building will be occupied with the city agencies you heard and the one stop to get anything you want done in the city. Come in the door and someone will take care of you, right melissa . Thank you. Thank you. Having trouble struggling to make ends meet folks will not understand what importance of voting is so we decided to develop our Workforce Development services after a couple of years offering pathways to sustainable jobs. clapping. weve gotten to a place to have the folks come back and have the discussion even if participation and makes sense we do Public Services but we also really build Strong Communities when i started this job my sons were 2 and 5 now 9 and 6 i think so the need to be able to take a call from the principal of school i think that brings a whole new appreciation to being understanding of the work life balance. clapping. i have a very good team around me were leader in the country when it comes to paid and retail and furiously the affordablecare act passed by 3079 we were did leaders for the healthcare and were in support of of the women and support. In my industry i feel that is male dominated a huge struggle to get my foot in the door and i feel as though that definitely needs to change this year needs to be more opportunities for i dont know women to do what tell me dream i feel that is important for us to create a in fact, network of support to young people young women can further their dreams and most interested in making sure they have the full and whatever they need to make that achieveable. Education is important i releases it at my time of san mateo high ii come back to the university of San Francisco law school and the fact i passed the bar will open up many more doors because i feel a curve ball or an where you can in the way cant get down why is this in my way we have to figure out a solution how to move forward we i went through a lot of struggles in my life, and i am blessed to be part of this. I am familiar with what people are going through to relate and empathy and compassion to their struggle so they can see i came out of the struggle, it gives them hope to come up and do something positive. I am a community ambassador. We work a lot with homeless, visitors, a lot of people in the area. What i like doing is posting up at hotspots to let people see visibility. They ask you questions, ask you directions, they might have a question about what services are available. Checking in, you guys. Wellness check. We walk by to see any individual, you know may be sitting on the sidewalk, we make sure they are okay, alive. You never know. Somebody might walk by and they are laying there for hours. You never know if they are alive. We let them know we are in the area and we are here to promote safety, and if they have somebody that is, you know, hanging around that they dont want to call the police on, they dont have to call the police. They can call us. We can direct them to the services they might need. We do the three one one to keep the city neighborhoods clean. There are people dumping, waste on the ground and needles on the ground. It is unsafe for children and adults to commute through the streets. When we see them we take a picture dispatch to 311. They give us a tracking number and they come later on to pick it up. We take pride. When we come back later in the day and we see the loose trash or debris is picked up it makes you feel good about what you are doing. It makes you feel did about escorting kids and having them feel safe walking to the play area and back. The stuff we do as ambassadors makes us feel proud to help keep the city clean, helping the residents. You can see the community ambassadors. I used to be on the streets. I didnt think i could become a community ambassador. It was too far out there for me to grab, you know. Doing this job makes me feel good. Because i came from where a lot of them are, homeless and on the street, i feel like i can give them hope because i was once there. I am not afraid to tell them i used to be here. I used to be like this, you know. I have compassion for people that are on the streets like the homeless and people that are caught up with their addiction because now, i feel like i can give them hope. It reminds you every day of where i used to be and where i am at now
