GEORGE TOWN: Stringent movement control order rules have taught hair salon owner Derick Ooi Tze Wei to brace for changes.
Ooi, who founded a chain of 15 hair salons in various states, has to diversify his business following orders for hair salons to close during the MCO period.
“All 180 staff members are now trained in e-commerce as we cannot be relying entirely on walk-in clients at our salons.
“We are offering packages for our services sold in the form of vouchers, while the staff are equipped with knowledge of products to sell them online.
“This change expands their knowledge, not only in hairdressing skills but in management and marketing.
