Student literacy levels are low in Forsyth County. The solution may go beyond the classroom

Forty percent of third grade students in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools are proficient in reading. Teachers in the district have undergone two years of professional learning to improve instruction and student outcomes, but there are some barriers to literacy that schools alone can’t break.
