A statue of early 1900's Navasota City Marshal Frank Augustus Hamner stands outside the Navasota Police Department/City Hall complex in Navasota, Texas, Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Back then, the 6'5", 24 yr-old Hamner was the law after the city council made a plea to the Governor as political and racial conflicts were tearing the community apart. A plaque in the plaza says "Local affluent hardliners challenged him only to learn that he would arrest anyone who broke the law."
