News Well let's take a look now in the pages of The Chicago Sun Times with Lynn Sweet. Oh hello hello how are you good Thank you Farai for waiting for our parliamentary drama it's very kind of you so big it's a big time for you like huge time yes and they'd So we turn our attention to chance the rapper. Rapper can't the rapper who is this globally know star is from Chicago at the big who said our paper is that he had a baby and he's canceling his tour except for Chicago and you might think is this why is this meaningful to us is because chance the rapper has continued to have his connection to Chicago he was just there Sunday at an outdoor gospel service with Kanye West who is another star who has Chicago connections he is the husband of reality star Kim Carr dash Ian and they they had huge crowd at the site in Chicago on Sunday morning so when Chance the Rapper cancels the turf or his baby but keeps the Chicago performance that's that's a big deal for Chicago here because it shows that he's he's keeping he's keeping his connections a big deal for every city as traffic and I lot of drivers are blaming right sharing right hailing ops like we were for a lot of that trouble. Yes and I talked out in a segment a few days ago how the city is looking to city Chicago is looking to places like London for congestion traffic pricing Well the C.E.O. Of himself was in Chicago and Monday because they're opening a new freight headquarters 2000 jobs so he was asked by reporters is it fault that we have all these cars on the street and he said Don't blame us but somehow they're helping to resolve congestion but surely they don't want to have war. Take it out at that put on them or put on the customers to make it more expensive so it was a little bit of a delicate dance but it's a real big expansion of this global company now in the city because their stay have this freight where they try to match carriers and shippers together. Conj So that's where they're going next right away that is if I could just say we have a story that just popped in it's not usually I'd like to give you a heads up. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was in Chicago and she spoke just a few hours ago and she now has become a rock star in her own right of the Supreme Court justices She's a Democrat and she has turned into a pop culture figure and she was at the University of Chicago just a short time ago and I just want to point this out because she also says son who lives in Chicago but she's 86 years old and she told the story of her life at this form in Chicago and I just want to bring it up because she is probably right now the most famous of the 7 Supreme Court judges in the United States and just a few weeks ago she had everyone worried about her especially if you're a Democrat or a liberal because she was treated for pancreatic cancer. Well well and while you were there American cities pretty nervous usually about casinos and it's been a it's been a kind of national hang up since the days of Al Capone really hasn't it but but times are changing I go you must be listening to I can't get through one of these about oh you know I know yeah I come from he comes in in again but he's a useful useful fellow to rouse in and this guy gets no one is getting killed at these casinos and we again I talked in earlier segments about how Chicago the city is grappling with where to put a casino Well there is a big suburb just north of it which is actually also on the you know for Chicago lakefront Waukegan Illinois and they're going to get a casino too it's part of the horse trading you do to get the votes in our state legislature you get a casino only if I get one too and so they're also trying to figure out what look like what design should be and where the location should be the whole point to do in this is to get word revenue for local governments the thought is out there if there's too many ever oh no it makes money with that sage advice we'll leave you to snow Lynn thanks very much indeed thanks so much. Well as turn to the national political scene we briefly mentioned a certain map but this was the weekend in which President Trump announced that he had called off a secret meeting with the Taliban at Camp David in Maryland where other peace agreements were signed and sealed long before there and where of course. The Republican. Outrage faithful have been saying the president and his advisers seated in the days following 911 for safety joining us to talk about whether that was a good thing or a bad thing I want to replay secretary of the Kansas G.O.P. And Tom Bevan the editor of Real Clear Politics a little Ana. I brought her you do it very well and I said I sit here you nice dark here and hello Tom All right how are you very well thank you. Tom suppose you lay this out nobody knew anything about this Camp David meeting before the president tweeted that it had been canceled how clear was it that it was actually going ahead . Well it seemed like it was but nobody knew anything about it I mean look I think it's interesting I understand the outrage certainly you know if Barack Obama had done something like this folks on the right would be totally outraged and think that it was you know totally inappropriate. But on the other hand you know one of Trump's core promises was he wanted to get us out of Afghanistan that's one of the reasons he was elected he's been working to do that and he has been I think one of the reasons the some folks have given him the benefit of the doubt on this because he's been kicking in the Taliban's teeth since he got into office basically So now they thinks that he's soft on the Taliban but the way that this all happened again with Trump you know these Everything is new and different and he announces this stuff by tweet only you know Saturday morning or whatever it was it was just shocking that this this thing was going to happen and that's not going to happen so I think it was it was in some ways the style of it and the and the manner in which we learned. The secret meeting in the cancellation which you know had had people up in arms because that's not the way we're used to doing things but that this is Donald Trump and that's how he decided he wants you know conducts business and of course we have been hearing these these talks were in phase nigh you know whatever it was with the the Taliban who have an official office and Doha in Qatar and they were very advanced and they sell me a killer who's the special envoy was fairly optimistic although all the Afghani government had been completely excluded I suppose the question is a lot of would would there have been people in the Republican Party who would have raised their eyebrows if this agreement had been concluded. You know I think there are people that are going to say you know Republicans aren't straight down the line on this you know there are some who are for it some that are not asked for it so I think you know you need to keep in mind here's term can probably still meet his objectives without having to do it this way and I think that's why it's being delayed or it was being postponed his objective being to drop dead American troops in Afghanistan Yeah I think he still can do that without having to do this by meeting with the Taliban and. Beating you know what I'm saying so I don't think he has to do that in order to to pull the troops out. It would have been remarkable though wouldn't it if he had if he'd pulled it off and brought Ashraf Ghani the prime minister to the table with the Taliban where they've never seen them and the never been at the table before right now that would that would have been remarkable but I could see where you know not everybody thinks that's the best way to do it or has to be done that way if you can do it without bringing that peace and knows he can still meet his objective without. You know with with with I guess you know he's still going to be able to meet his promise to the people or what he said he would ritually do so so I'm most people a lot of grief in this fairly calmly that they're not they're not that put out by this news not really I mean it's not I haven't found that it is I mean right now you know at home we're getting ready with you know a lot of congressional work you know Congress just came back and I think we're. We're getting kind of that news and that's going to push it this really didn't make a big uproar we are right here. In the Midwest and I'm right. Well let's just let's sound off should have been a fuss about this this hurricane forecast the president and the nationally saying the High King was heading for Alabama being corrected in a tweet by someone from the National Oceanic and ministration and then on the on the 4th of September he returns to it with a dog to mop it tell me how much of a much offices the really about this. I think. Right I think this might be the dumbest story of all. We've had in 3 years since the conflict office and it's a perfect example of the sort of cycle that we're in between Trump and the media right Trump does something that's ill advised flash stupid the media decides to make a big fuss about it when it's really not that big of a. And you know Donald Trump doubles down calls in the media and refuses to say that he did anything wrong or apologize and just yes he covers that and so we're locked in a 5 or 6 day cycle about this sharpie you know map when when in fact I do think you know outside of the Washington Beltway nobody really cares I mean it is nobody Larry the epitome of stupidity that we're But again it's this is the this is the dynamic that we're currently we currently operate in because of the way that because the way the Trump acts and the way the media covers Trump and then the way that trump reacts to the media coverage of them it's just it's neverending and it doesn't matter what it is but this was certainly a low point but if you if you follow this story through you can certainly see the escalation caught because neither the there's the story that Wilbur Ross the commerce secretary tried to have people fired over there. At the National Weather Service AND IT'S IT'S IT'S IT'S NOT stopping you know I mean. Yeah go a lot and go on it is I mean the this kind of stuff happening together it's just it's kind of humorous and we don't know what factors behind that firing I mean you can hear things but. It's just one of those things that's back and forth you know I'm the mother of 4 kids and sometimes I feel like it's like 2 of my children just fighting back and forth and nobody really needs to be fighting at all kind of thing it feels that way a lot of times with the media and Trump here it's it's just one of those things and he he's right it might be one of the dumbest stories ever so that's kind of kind of the case here kind of case right. The other thing that's happening is renewed interest in what's called impeachment and quietly what's what's an impeachment inquiry. It is. It is the Democrat solution to not actually pursuing the impeachment process but trying to make it look like they're pursuing the impeachment process so they're going to ask for a bunch of documents and call witnesses but they're not actually going to file articles of impeachment and hold a vote on it at least not right now look this is the delicate dance that the Democrats have been doing since they took over in January and Nancy Pelosi has been trying to sort of shut this down and deflect it and keep it under wraps Meanwhile there I mean not a week goes by without another Democratic congressman coming forward and saying we need to impeach the president. And yet. It is not the majority of folks in America do not want to see the president even if they think he you know is unethical or lies a lot of whatever they don't think impeachment is the answer and so the Democrats are sort of staring uphill at this because their base really want to tap and the American people don't want to happen and so they're trying to they're trying to split the baby here by giving their base what they want without actually impeaching the president and again it will be another example of it will get a lot of coverage because you know the Democrats in Washington will hold these hearings the media will Coverdale it will occupy a lot of media space a lot of headlines but beyond the beltway this is not something that folks in America really care about and it's just one more example of a sort of disconnect between what you know when folks in the middle of the country look at Washington and. Why are they doing this because we don't this is not a concern of ours on a day to day basis and when of course you mention the Democratic base that would never be enough to get the president elected it's it's just not enough voters it's it's important in the primaries which we're going to come on to next but it's not 7 not enough to to change the the future of the nation. Definitely not. A lot I wanted to ask him but Lisbeth was on because it was a big Democratic who are a New Hampshire which nearly all the surviving candidates were present at the weekend the Elizabeth Warren seem to get a standing ovation and she's also almost overtaking bunny Saunders in the in the polling which of course we don't pay any attention to because why would we were we're not going to get caught again are we. Like your tongue rock bite your tongue sorry but I'll look at the polls. You guys are the best ones I mean I got to say. Still she's doing quite well isn't she a lot of are you worried. I worried No I mean I think she's she does well she's a good politician she's been successful for a really long time and you know and at her age and doing that for that long as a woman I mean that's impressive you can expect that out of somebody like all of the foreign. I don't think show went overall at this point something might change but yeah I don't I know that Donald Trump will be our next president I'm not sure who held the running against but I'm not so sure she's going to be the nominee but that's just kind of where I'm at right now I think. Biden has stayed around a lot longer than you know he's just by whatever they've tried to throw at him it's come off kind of easily so you know I think from the beginning I told you that Biden would be their best candidate to win a general and I still think that you still think there's a little bit of a. There's a slight fashion and about Mark Sanford who has now launched a primary challenge from the Republican side against the president is he to be taken seriously a lot of he's farmers out of South Carolina no. Now interest now let me know if I think he you know I mean I'm not really sure I mean I might be a publicist on I mean he's running think he's a fiscal conservative and Trump has not you know done much for our budget I must say I'm disappointed in the deficit that we have continued to increase but I'm running as a trying to come up against a president and a company president and it's just not going to happen so maybe he'll get some press out of it I'm not really sure what he's after. There's been some sort of back talk and I'm not quite sure that I understand that talking about whether or not there will be any Republican primaries a tall. Can you shed any light on the well there was he had her girl or I'm sorry I want to go ahead because if you want to talk about yeah a lot of you probably saw you you may know more about Hillary we had heard we had our state our state party meeting this last Saturday I would say 2 days ago and yet we're not going to be holding a primary in our state like we are to have the president we don't we don't have we don't contest that when we have an incumbent president I don't know that that will be held honestly I mean it's certainly not going to be held at a state at a state convention when we already have it in a seated. President is that convention I mean is that it's that normal if there are people who have thrown the hat in the ring like like the former Massachusetts governor Governor Weld. Do you want to answer that well yeah I mean the this was reported earlier this week I think there are 4 states South Carolina B. One Kansas another and a couple others that have decided think in the state parties make the decision of whether they want to hold a primary or not because they're the ones that are fronting all the costs and there is ample precedent in the modern era for it happened under Obama it happened to clean it happened under George W. Bush that some states did not decided not to hold primary contests for the reason that they had and they had an incumbent and they didn't feel that it was necessary and so. I think this is sort of much ado about not very much I mean certainly the challengers have used it as a to be able to stand up and say I messed up Bill Weld was given another interview saying look what scene afraid of I mean certainly not Bill Weld for sure. But I do think I think this is this is sort of standard operating procedure and like I might take on Mark Sanford is you know he's different than Joe Walsh Joe Walsh to me as sort of a. You know single. Single term failed congressman who's sort of a you know media how notoriously you know hound is after for himself Mark Sanford used to be talked about as being a presidential candidate the Republican side or the Appalachian trail hiking incident but he is a man of some standing but I just don't see the oxygen you know for him in this kind of race again with Donald Trump standing among Republicans being what it is I hate to do this but just by people look back Sanford said he was hiking the Appalachian Trail he was at another country with a lady I don't know why her quote there Rod though I know well I just needed to flesh it out in the interest. Oh well there we there we come to another exciting week in politics. Thank you both maybe there won't be any sharpies and next week's discussion who knows super lovely to talk to you thanks Rob have a good day OK but by a lot of players secretary of the Republican Party the G.O.P. Leader Ian Black 1st referred to the number of M.P.'s who'd been receiving death threats this was apparently a reference to an act of police inquiry on a particularly gruesome death threat which go to the press and journal it was sent to 3 north of Scotland M.P.'s It isn't just in the U.K. And Canada the Environment Minister. She's been assigned a security detail because of abuse she has received online on the passion Castro mechanic said that in one recent instance I'm on a cot pulled up alongside her children swore and called a climate Bobbie Mia Robson as an adage in a violent reporter for The Canadian Press C P Hello Mia Oh well as the son of a very comfortable for a tall especially when she was I with such children is she has she been receiving more of this kind of thing yet absolutely she yet almost since she became the Environment Minister 4 years ago that sort of harassment started mostly online but when I talked to about it last week she indicated that it has sort of gone more offline now it's happening more in person which is a loved carrier you can sort of shrug off some of the online anonymous attacks but when people are coming after her in person particularly when she's with her kids she's admitted it's unsettling. And why is she the target. Of a lot of reasons she's the face of the fact that Canadian Liberal governments Climate Action Plan and so some see her as as the one who is coming after their livelihoods in the fossil fuel industry I She has a tendency to be a look at comes out of online people don't necessarily like her demeanor there she's received a lot of criticism for that but there's I mean there's been a lot of research that women in particular the male politicians in positions of power are often the one that the biggest targets for those who don't like what they have to say I way we would talk about death threats that are in the British parliamentary scene of death threats become a part of the Canadian seat. They have then I wouldn't say they're common factor but definitely they exist as the former Alberta Premier. Rachael not we had constant security had I think she received 11 death threats over the course of 2 or 3 years in office there's been a couple of people arrested for making threats against the prime minister Justin Trudeau I think one of the even been convicted now and yeah I mean there are several other female politicians the provincial and federal level talks about needing extra security because of threats and intimidation that have been made against them so Canada certainly not immune to this problem and do ministers receive security anyway as a matter of course not typically the government as you might imagine is relatively reticent to talk about the levels of security that the ministers receive because they don't want people to think Oh there's no security and put them at risk and then require it but as a whole it's really just the prime minister who receives constant security I have seen security detail of around other ministers at certain times I know I saw them trailing the finance minister sometimes. Mr McCann It doesn't have a constant security detail she's not surrounded by armed guards at all times right now she said it's in specific circumstances and but she won't relate what those circumstances are maybe public events or in certain places where the threats are going to be to be higher against her of course but only stoutest a reason really doesn't it and what's the what's the public response to this a people been sympathetic to hard. But the most part yes people I mean politicians from all parties are aware of this is a problem I think you wouldn't find a politician you haven't had some kind of least of lying harassment so most of them when the story ran out on the weekend were quite sympathetic you know there was the not unexpected people accusing her of lying and doing that I mean we're about to head into a federal campaign here people suggesting she was saying that her attention but for the most part I would say all party members of all parties and politicians from all parties were quite sympathetic to her and telling Canadians like this is not worth it there's nothing she has said or done even if you disagree with her that is worth reading her life or intimidating her children did. Pose as Mr Trudeau for this doesn't come up and when people are talking about him does he have received a few cracks as I said there's been there's actually been I think the several arrests I want to say at least 3 or 4 people arrested over the last few years. For making threats I mean they receive many more again the prime minister's office has a policy not to talk about anything related to security so I left that arrest is made we don't know about it there was a protest I know for example in the spring outside an event he was asked and the R.C.M.P. Arrested someone at the scene for making threats there was a Facebook page by a group known as the yellow vests in Canada that for many many death threat type posts that the R.C.M.P. Were investigating but I'm not aware of any unrest related to that so he definitely is a target. All regrettable Thank you thanks very much for talking to us thank you so much thank you. While we have briefly talked about a the Afghan peace process seems to have come to an abrupt end. The the latest insult to it of course after before the weekend was a Taliban bomb which detonated in Kabul and killed 12 people including an American soldier then President Trump revealed that he had canceled that meeting which he hoped to have with Taliban leaders Camp David Well the Afghan government of Prime Minister Ghani has welcomed the move while the Taliban is warning that the United States stands to lose the most with its 1000 or so soldiers and still remain in Afghanistan both sides seem to be predicting an uptick in violence during the coming elections Bill Roggio is a senior fellow at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies and Washington hello Mr 00000 How are you a low very well. This is Is this a case of being worse off than we were when this began you know I don't think so I've maintained that a peace deal with the Taliban really would be is really just a withdrawal deal the Taliban were required to do anything in there was no enforcement mechanisms in there to ensure that they would do what they claimed they would do and all it would do was allow the U.S. To withdraw from Afghanistan without being attacked by the Taliban so I maintain that the U.S. Does not require if the if the President Trump and the American people don't want to maintain a presence in Afghanistan any longer then there's no peace with that or I can't using that term because it just wasn't a peace deal there's no deal with the Taliban is required we could pick up and leave announced to the Taliban that we can. You know that we will be back if we choose to and support whoever we want to support in Afghanistan and attempt to prop them up against the Taliban you know would deal with the Taliban would have whitewashed that the Taliban's role in $911.00 which would prove prior and after providing safe haven for al Qaeda and it would be a humiliating defeat for the United States when it was coming close I think people were comparing it with the North Vietnamese withdrawal agreement so-called that Mr Nixon concluded is that a reasonable comparison I think it is a reasonable comparison and President Nixon wanted out of Vietnam he decided it was not good for the United States at least with that deal there was of force meant mechanisms the US was supporting a government the Lebanese government was part of was part of the talks in this case the the US shut out the Afghan government and really treated that the Afghan government like what the Taliban accuses it of being which is being a puppet of the United States that's the Taliban's own words they call it a puppet a student you know all those things where were you surprised at the notion that Mr Ghani would have come willingly to Washington to sign this agreement and meet the Taliban representatives so he's in a box because if he would refuse that invitation and it got out he would be lambasted in Afghanistan and remember an election is supposed to be held on September 28th and he would he would be accused of his political by his political rivals of being was being the main opposition to any any hope of peace that we have in Afghanistan so I think his calculation was he felt that he had nothing to lose by going and seeing what would shake out there you know it again this is a box that he's been put in by the United States because the Afghan government has been shut out because the US hasn't. Guarantee that the Afghans are going to hold elections they talked about things such as postponing elections creating a transition government this come from U.S. Officials I mean again if the Taliban accuses the Afghan government of being a puppet and a stooge of the west and then the US acts like the Afghan government is and at that just is not helpful. Mr Trump of course blamed that attack on state for his decision which he said was his decision alone but the there have been a report from other people on the negotiating team that they were really worried that the Taliban couldn't control their own soldiers or if they you know if the word soldiers appropriate there you know I tend to disagree I think it's Alabama have a pretty. Amazing command and control remember last year when they announced the cease fire in the latter. During IED there were no Taliban attacks that doesn't happen if you don't maintain a degree of command and control what I think happened there in the U.S. Inside the U.S. Government more is the start of opposition to this started to grow. Within U.S. Congress within influential congressional leaders who have troops here. In the media it started being reported that how this deal would be a bad thing how the Taliban can be trusted I think just I think President Trump was heading down this path and was skeptical and I suspect that this bombing that killed the American soldier really gave him the excuse you needed to pull the plug on something he was uncertain about. So is it is it no and they have a tubal then the Taliban will have nothing to lose by by attacking polling stations and generally causing trouble during the election cycle absolutely it's but the Taliban has an else that they were going. Do this anyway so with all of this violence over the last 2 weeks actually over the last 6 months the Taliban has stepped it up. Since I would say about March and we have to remember this so-called peace deal wasn't between the Taliban and the Afghan government it was between the U.S. And the Taliban it was for the U.S. To withdraw the messaging of the Taliban to the Afghan people to the Afghan government is we're going to be here when York when the United States is gone and you could face us on the battlefield or you could abandon the Afghan government and join us and I think it's been a very effective message that I think people in Afghanistan are are quite fearful about the potential of a U.S. Withdrawal and what is going to happen to their country after work in that sense the parlor with Vietnam is also accurate given what happened to the South Vietnamese government absolutely and you know I think there was another at the at the degree here I think the Taliban are also looking to right the U.S. Government's face in it a little bit they want to they want to punish the United States for its occupation for 18 years and and for forcing the Taliban to fight it out. That you have read the Taliban's propaganda and Taliban is it 5 languages and it's cups it's the same across the 5 languages but you can read in English if you like the Taliban are very hateful there so they're their description of the United States even as they are in the peace talks is language that the United States that they use the United States should just walk away from the table and yet they haven't which I think shows the degree of desperation particularly within the State Department to cut some type of deal in order to cover withdraw. Thank you very much thank you sir it's a pleasure. A Scottish police campaign to get the public to prepare a grab and go bag in case of emergencies has been branded the scaremongering Police Scotland's tweet urged people to pack a central like medicine a torch a whistle a radio and food water some users expressed concern asking if there was a particular reason for the sudden advice but a police spokesperson insisted the recommendations are all part of the U.K.'s annual preparedness months a general resilience awareness campaign if you don't know I think about it that runs across the country every year Johnny Crocker runs a survival school and Gloucestershire and I asked Johnny if he had heard of preparedness month. Sources that this trip had struck I know more about what it is than than than actually having had acid. Rock it and what is it I mean is it just a time when we're supposed to think about buying our heads on the ceiling. From what I can gather it's more along the lines of just sort of raising public awareness at outs. It was coming in to sort of loony time a way of sort of massive power outages and yet natural disasters and the the adventure of the winter storms I think is probably more to do with that. I mean the Scottish police certainly say that sort of is nothing to do with brakes of a tall you'll be fairly familiar with the idea of a grab bag or a go bag are you it is a good idea. It is a good only day if you are the sort of person who. May be apprehensive maybe your all anxious about events so maybe personally No not really but we're all we're all individuals for those people who are concerned then yes good do it if it makes you feel good and it makes you feel secure I think you should do it a lot of people not feeling quite so secure after the Scottish police decided to bite. That was quite unusual I think. I'm not sure that the right spin doctors have been doing the right things. It is a little bit on the scaremongering side to have seen the word scam mongers abandoned by the press today but whether they were just gently trying to raise awareness all to be quite honest my 1st thought was what to think that we don't but then thought well maybe I'm over it was myself that they were. I mean I'm certainly seen this advocated in places like California where they have forest fires and after grades to deal with. What kind of things make sense to put your go bag or your grab bag. In my personal grab and go back I think they call it. A money grab and I wish to be honest what they've gotten. Pretty good. And I quite like the R. Day although I think maybe having the radio is. What they call the flashlight when was the last time either anybody refer to a torch as a flashlight in order in the U.K. Anyway not exactly as so it seems that this is being ripped straight as are some sort of Californian manual somewhere. I would have included a. Single most definitely. Like I remember my my wife and we love not ask wigs or and and I had to fillet follow the instruction to water and every and every boss Umar some things he said Never mind the water where's the gin. 5050 mix I think. Well let's let's hope it never happens but in in the main consciousness raising about being prepared for the worst is never a bad thing really as it. Is a phrase a survival world of hope for the best but expect the worst and maybe that A is what they're aiming at. That there's also the point if Spurs of. It is better to be prepared for eventualities the tests of have sprung upon us as a mass of supplies and you've got nothing that you can do about it. Being being prepared I think is the way it really but to have a grab and go bag is a little bit beyond what you need most people would have these items in the house anyway and certainly just reading down through the list I got here pen and pad person toiletries. To them all. That she sang so I go all those many Wait how long will it take me to pick him up put him into a bag not very long. 234 minutes maybe and I'm away Sept I have already had a possibly going over the top words of comfort from Johnny Crockett and Gloucestershire Well the murder describes a new drug Nabby film a stunning mix of intrigue scandal and heartache. Scrumptious and spirited after much anticipation the film has finally had its London premiere. Doing. The king and queen coming down. I want every sound system and all. The time. To see them. Will help Catherine being there in the morning when he did come to her. Good old CARSON Well it goes on general release this Friday but our entertainment correspondent Colum Patterson was there on the red carpet in Leicester Square as the stars arrived for the premiere only managed to get a word with Michelle Dockery Our Lady Mary. Tonight it's just I'm so excited I can . And it's a wonderful feeling for everyone and feels like such a huge celebration of the show. And the film is wonderful I think it's going to provide a lovely escape food for people out there I think it you know and it's it's exactly what the show ways was what was the 1st day on Sat like when you were all regroup and it was amazing I mean the 1st the 1st days on set were just it felt like we'd never left Actually if I where is the time gone and it was like going home and like we're like a family and we see you know some of the see a lot of each other in our personal lives anyway even if the whole whatsapp group there is a whatsapp group yeah. I think here is actually he's quite vocal on the one. That's been really fun you know leading up to the premiere just being in starts and it's it's really exciting and how much I never saw you his fans love the show it's all these things you don't want to spoil it all yeah I don't want to I don't want to give any spoilers away but I I think it really is for the fans I mean I think if you haven't seen the show you can still it's you know it's still incredibly entertaining and easy to follow but I think the fans will be free of actually on 5 Live marker more often talks about the 6 laugh test for comedies how many cries just think you're getting this from I think they'll be a couple I mean I cried in a moment that was simply food being taken out to a dining table and that made me cry why because I felt so proud of the service. Certainly will be very moving moments for everybody but there's a lot of laughter as well as a lot of comedy moment a minute you cried of food in real life fact you'll see why people see why when they see it I fell immensely proud. Michelle Dockery Well also there was a. Who plays Tom Bronson of course very close to Lady Mary. Told call and how he's feeling about finally getting to see the film. Feels pretty epic I'll be honest you know it's something that when we finish the show we all really hope would happen and now the fact that it has and we're here feels very very special Why do you think it was brought back as a film and there's still such an appetite I live over in America now and every 2nd day I get asked about Downton white why we ever stop just I think all around the world I constantly been asked these questions and I think there is there is still not a people want to want to see these characters and see this story what kind of people ask you is the soft women in shops and things like this I get that you wouldn't be surprised if you surprise the amount of people and the like from from old older ladies to the teenage girls to. Bankers and you know people that you would never expect to watch the show and it seems to have a really broad appeal which for how long did you know it was coming back and you were able to tell those people when they were asking me about a year which was I was always open what are you up to next year like I love to tell you and it was this kind of so great to be here and actually be doing it and celebrated Yes Chris and you have a massive part of the snow yeah I'll be honest when I when I read. The script the 1st time I like this is actually have a decent amount to do here and Hugh Bonneville rang me by 4 minutes after I read it and said you got more plots and an allotment. Which is pretty good yeah I think if we divide it up with a sentiment on the line coach to work out who actually gets the most lines Well it's not about top 3 Yeah but maybe so but I think it's who gets the best lines last night he said I'm even I've been saying on air the post starts 22 people on the post How do the old folks are with us today is actually like the poster is one thing but the fact that Julian Fellowes manages to get 22 stories going and that's his gift and having seen the movie you never feel like you've been cheated at any one character and I don't I literally I don't know I just might have to Judy and be able to do that some believe. In getting over settle in the movie I think you'll find that he's finally getting there is finally getting to a point where he's ready to move on and I think people. Very happy to see Tom there's a lot of dancing in the film will be dancing tonight we take a Maggie on to the dance floor I mean try and stop and try and stop her she's unbelievable I mean yeah and her great giants these girls are something to be seen that's the reason we call her the notorious M A G G I E you know we. Talk about the departed lady. It'll all come back to you will come back to an awful lot no doubt. When you. Claim. Anyone on this CD See Radio 5 Live. Here with.
