Youre watching bbc news at 9 with me, Annita Mcveigh the headlines. Therell be no visas for low skilled workers as the government unveils plans for a points based immigration system. This basically redefines our immigration policy, so the brightest and the best, people with skills need to come to the uk. This policy is going to turn into a model, and yet it sends a wbr id wbr330 very clear message, that immigration is a bad thing. More heavy rain is expected in flooded communities in england and wales, adding to fears that flood defences might not withstand rising river levels. The first passengers who have tested negative for coronavirus have begun leaving a ship moored offjapan, after 1a days of quarantine. b the truth is our Prime Ministers a real racist. The rapper dave takes a swipe at borisjohnson and the government, as he lands the big prize at the brit awards. And coming up in the sport liverpool suffer a rare defeat in the first leg of their Champions League tie against athletico madrid. Good morning, and welcome to the bbc news wbrid wbr930 at 9. Low skilled Migrant Workers seeking employment in the uk will not be able to get a visa under the governments new plans for a points based immigration system. Ministers say employers must move away from a reliance on cheap labour from europe and invest in technology. The scheme which comes into force next january will apply equally to citizens from inside and outside the eu. Our home affairs correspondent, danny shaw, reports. The uks immigration system is changing. From next year, people who want to work in britain will be treated the same if they are from the eu or outside it. The government says top priority will go to those with the highest skills and the greatest talents. On a visit to Imperial College in london, home secretary priti patel mapped out the way ahead. She wants the brightest and best to work and study in the uk, at high tech laboratories like this, where they do groundbreaking research on carbon capture. But importantly now, this basically redefines our immigration policy so the brightest and best, people with skills need to come to the uk and we will no longer have the routes for cheap low Skilled Labour that has dominated immigrationa and our Labour Market for far too long in this country. The new immigration system is about points, with people wanting to come here needing at least 70 to apply. 50 points will be awarded if you speak english and have a skilled job. 20 points come from a £25,000 salary or working in a sector where there is a labour shortage, but no entry to the uk for most people doing lower skilled work in restaurants, care homes or Food Processing plants. I think theres going to have to be a lot of exemptions, a lot of exceptions. I think this policy is going to turn into a muddle, and yet it sends a very clear message that immigration is a bad thing, and i think that is a toxic message to send. Lets concentrate on a practical system, a fair system, that can be made to work. Businesses which rely on lower skilled Migrant Workers are being told they will have to improve productivity, invest in technology, and do more to retain their existing stuff. The government is clear that overall levels of migrations will be reduced. Danny shaw, bbc news. Lets speak now to our assistant Political Editor norman smith. How much control does this points system give the government over immigration . Critics are saying, look as we heard diane abbott there will be so many pmqs should bes it will be so many pmqs should bes it will rinder it meaningless. The shortance is we dont know. It is still in its infancy this points based system, it will have to evolve and it is a an old cliche but the devil is in detail. The overview is ita devil is in detail. The overview is it a double edged immigration system. For skilled workers, it a double edged immigration system. Forskilled workers, it loosens things up, it makes it easierfor loosens things up, it makes it easier for skilled workers to come to the uk, so the salary floeshld has been reduced to £25,000, the skills qualification has been reduced from having to have a graduate type qualification to an e level typed qualification so it is easier, you would see an increase in the number of skilled worker, for unskilled worker, however, the drawbridge has been well and truly pulled up and that poses a major challenge for large sections of the british economy, particularly those reliant on low skilled eu labourers so we are reliant on low skilled eu labourers so we are talking the retail sector, the leisure sector, construction sector, the care sector, Food Processing sector, i mean vast amounts of the british economy have now got a major, major challenge ahead. They have to get ready for the new system by the end of the year, so time is very short, they have got to prepare for additional bureaucracy, because they will have to sponsor people now, for work, it isa to sponsor people now, for work, it is a major ask for them, the response of the government is to say look, there are, they say, round eight million economically inactive british people, that is a pool of labour you can recruit from and train from. Labour you can recruit from and trainfrom. In labour you can recruit from and train from. In other words, you dont have to rely on eu workers you can use existing british workers, now that sounds fine in theory, but if you look at a sector like the ca re if you look at a sector like the care sector, they argue they have already got round 122,000 vacancies is and have not been able to fill them. Even with the existing eight million economically unactive british work earthquake in part that is because of low wages in the care sector but it is because the care sector but it is because the care sector has a particular image which doesnt necessarily make it a very attractive route for many people. That means for the care sector, they face, i think, that means for the care sector, they face, ithink, really that means for the care sector, they face, i think, really significant challenge now. 0k, norman, thank you very much. Let us get some reaction. Lets speak now to karendeep kaur, whos the senior immigration consultant at the law firm migrate consultant at the law firm migrate uk. Ill would say the skilled workers, they are fine, they are going to come into the uk, it is opened up for the skilled worker, it is the lower skills that will be impacted the most here. You know, they are going to be expected to come to the uk, without any point based system, however, there is the route for the mobility for the individuals we need to explore, the government is saying to explore, the government is saying to these employers. That route, explain ma that route is you are talking about exploring. So this allows individual, it will be, it is not, there are certain contraries which are permitted to come to use the mobility, but it is being open to the whole of the eu as well, you need to be between the aged of 18 and 30, you have come to the uk and it is all about gaining that Work Experience in the uk. But, during those two years, you can be upskilled, your salary will increase and this can lead to the skilled worker route eventually down the road. So, those lower skilled workers can be used under the scheme, however the government is saying that any dependents of skilled workers can also fill those gaps in the lower skilled criteria. This scheme is due to come into force, this points based system injanuary next year. The eu settlement scheme isjune next year. What is going to happen in that gap, to people who want to be in the uk, but who perhaps havent at the point of january, next year, got the points they need . Right, 0k, next year, got the points they need . Right, ok, so from the first of january, Free Movement ends so if they dont have the points and that i havent come to the uk before the 1st january they will be expected to obtain sponsorship in the uk, so employers needs to get their sponsor licenses in place this year, in order to employ anybody from the first january, any eu order to employ anybody from the firstjanuary, any eu worker, so that could be one person, they need to have a licence in place, if they dont meet the 70 points they require, that is going to be a problem for them. 0k, good to get your thoughtses on that. Flood hit communities are braced for more heavy rain as river levels continue to threaten to breach barriers. Hundreds of properties have been flooded and evacuated across england and wales after storm dennis. The Environment Agency says levels in the rivers wye and severn will remain high into the weekend. Lets go to monmouth in wales now and our correspondent tim muffett. Tim, talk to us about the water levels there and how the local community is coping and responding. Yes, good morning, yes, the river wye reached its highest level ever, at over seven metre, it is a bit below six this morning but the sheer volume of water coming below the wye bridge is such they have closed off the bridge, because they are fearful for its structure, in effect. Take a look a the top shot, you might be able to make out a caravan park, those people in that park were evacuated as well for their safety, so evacuated as well for their safety, 03 evacuated as well for their safety, so a lot going on. Delighted to be joined by deputy chief constable from the police. You have nerve seen anything like this before. This is anything like this before. This is an unusual event, you know, in terms of the river levels we have here, you mentioned the speed of the river coming through, you know and the volume of water, so we are working hard, with mull agency approach, with ambulance, fire, monmouth council, with National Resources wales to make sure we are co ordinated response in relation to this. Have you managed to get some out from the caravan park, what state were they . . That was a planned event. We had good warnings of the weatherent vent so a lot was done prior, with the consent and cooperation of the people on the site, you know, so that was worked through with them. How do you think the community is bearing up. Fa nta stically the community is bearing up. Fantastically well, appreciative of the cooperation, we have had to close the bridge, we need to have a Structural Assessment done in relation to the bridge and as you can see, people are very patient, understanding what you know the situation is, and working really ha rd situation is, and working really hard with us. Finally, looking ahead the forecast is not great, more rain is forecast, what is your message to people . Well, obviously, you know, Pay Attention to the road closures we have in place, they are there for a reason, you know, if you have any concern, a reason, you know, if you have any concern, there is lots of information on the website and our partners website the council. Anything you want is on there and you should be able to get anything you should be able to get anything you need in relation to any advice. Thank you. Appreciate you are busy and your time. So message there from the police, you know, be sensible really and things like this, you see the scale of the water and nearby Water Treatment plant was flooded. That meant that the supply of Drinking Water to the local area is particularly affected. Pee have been advised to stock up on bottled water if they can. Thank you tim. Thank you tim. Herefordshire is among the worst affected areas and our correspondent Nina Warhurst has been speaking to a localfarmer there. To explain where i am and anding. This rapeseed plant that will produce rapeseed oil, there are 100 acres of it on this farm, but look this way, round a third of the rapeseed plans at the moment is submerged in water, and that tra nslates submerged in water, and that translates to this farmer, tens of thousands of pounds, and it is no just here in herefordshire, it is in neighbouring shropshire, worcestershire, gloucestershire, all the way up to staffordshire, into wales, devastation like this across thousands and thousands of farms. And the National Farmers union alliance, who insure thousands of farms tell us insurance claims are heading upwards of £20 million, and they expect that number to climb much higher. It make sensef they expect that number to climb much higher. It make sense f you think about the battering of storm ciara, the wild wind and rain and then came dennis, wet upon wet on wet. Let us talk to ali about the impact on his farm. Hundreds of ca kers impact on his farm. Hundreds of cakers sup merge, what does that mean for your crop . We have about 160 acres under water, most was in crop. The crop is drowning at the moment, if it hasnt already drowned. It is too soon to put a number on what that will mean financially . Absolutely. It has been a combination in rain starting in september so we are looking at another rain event. Storm ben disbrought a months worth of rain. We wont know until we can get down here, to repla nt we wont know until we can get down here, to replant and again we wont know until we get a combine harvester in august. It was a dry summer last year, towards the end of it, and follow that with extreme wet weather, what does that do to your soil and to bringing in the harvest . We had a tricky harvest getting in and the rain started early in the autumn which meant we struggled to get crops into the ground. That has been nationwide which is unusual. All the way through the breads be the kept of the uk. We have struggled to get crops in and we will struggle to get anything else in. How does it compare to other winters you have been through . Farming is in your blood, what does it look like at the moment . It is the worst. It is unprecedented. The river levels have, gauges are brokens because they have ever in seen the water this high. Dad has been here 50 years, it has never been here 50 years, it has never been as high as it has before. It is, its is phenomenal. It is humbling ina is, its is phenomenal. It is humbling in a way, we think we are clever in what we do and we are one 100 controlled by Mother Nature and these events seem to be getting more frequent. You have a new baby daughter, congratulations, it is your dream to pass this land on to her, how optimistic do you feel about this . Right at the moment . Not that optimistic, we are trying to farm in the most sustainable way. We are wide rotation, i am trying to look after this farm so my daughter if she wants to can take over. I am still fairly young, i have a career in front of me and you have to be o mystic but this makes it difficult. Thank you for sharing with us. There isa human thank you for sharing with us. There is a human side to these floods, concerns about whether land has been in families for generation will be able to passed on. George eustice told the bbc earlier this week money will be made available for people recovering from flooding but not in all county, question round that, but also about a long term plan, what can we do to protect rural economies, when the weather is becoming increasingly unpredictable. The headlines on bbc news. Therell be no visas for low skilled workers as the government unveils plans for a points based immigration system. More heavy rain is expected in flooded communities in england and wales, adding to fears that flood defences might not withstand rising river levels. The first passengers who have tested negative for coronavirus have begun leaving a ship moored offjapan, after 1a days of quarantine. A spanish lesson for liverpool. Spurses are in action tonight. Jose mourinho will be without his first choice forward line. And tyson fury made his grand arrival at the mgm hotel in las vegas ahead of saturday nights title rematch with deontay wilder. Furry described it at the biggest fight in the last 50 years. Hundreds of passengers who have tested negative for coronavirus and are healthy with no symtoms of illness, have disembarked from the diamond princess cruise liner thats been quarantined in the japanese port of yokohama for more than two weeks. The vessel was carrying more than 3700 people when it was isolated in early february. 542 of those passengers have been infected the biggest cluster outside mainland china. The uk government is preparing to fly home around 70 british tourists, while four who have been infected, will be treated injapan. Simonjones reports. Finally released after weeks on a luxury cruise liner, in far from luxurious circumstances, due to an outbreak of coronavirus on board. Groups of passengers whove tested negative allowed to leave. But its not good news for britains david and sally abel whod been documenting their ordeal. They have the virus. We are both positive. We are going to a hostel because there is not a hospital bed anywhere around, 0k . So were going to a hostel and, in four orfive days, we will be removed from the hostel and put into a hospital, where we will receive treatment. They have had their bags packed for over 24 hours, they thought they we re over 24 hours, they thought they were being taken, excuse me, they thought they were being taken yesterday but no one came. The fco, they are saying that people who are negative canjust they are saying that people who are negative can just disembark as of 7. 00am this morning, japanese time, and obviously they have been told to stay in their room, sol and obviously they have been told to stay in their room, so i think that is confirmation they are positive, but, one minute they are being told they will be taken in an ambulance, they will be taken in an ambulance, the next they are going to be taken ona the next they are going to be taken on a coach. They are being messed about. These are two pensioner, i dont like to think of them like that, but they, it isjust, have been through so so much, i want someone to take care of them. The Foreign Office here in london has been facing some stinging criticism, not least from the abel family, that they have not been doing enough to help the british citizens stranded on board the cruise ship. 0fficials though insist they have been working to organise a Repatriation Flight but it is thought anyone returning to the uk is likely to have to face a further period in quarantine. 340 us citizens were allowed off the ship earlier this week, but more than 540 people on board have tested positive for the virus, the biggest outbreak outside china, raising questions about whether the keeping passengers on board whats been called the floating prison for so long was the best way to deal with the situation. Simon jones, bbc news. Laura bicker is in yokohama where the passengers have been leaving the cruise ship after their extended stay. Hello to you laura. So just to get right up to date, with those latest passengers who have been able to leave the ship does that number include british passengers who are well . We have been told that the Foreign Office certainly be the British Embassy here injapan, the advice to those british passengers who are well, who have tested negative for coronavirus so far, they are being asked to remain on they are being asked to remain on the ship. Now what we are hearing is that britain will send a plane to try to pick up its passengers and ta ke try to pick up its passengers and take these passengers home by the end of this week but we have no details yet on when that plane will arrive. The passengers that have disembarked, most seem to be japanese national, they gave a little wave to reporters as they left. Some were saying i am 0k. 0k. There have been lots of comes and goings, some buses have protective screens between the driver and passengers to try to keep them apart. Also, we have seen a number of people being loaded on to buses in full protective gear, with ambulances flanking them and we belief they are being taken to quarantine. People being taken to different area, however, there is great concern here injapan and outwith japan, because we have heard from one leading professor in his field, who is from kobe university, this is a professor who has dealt with various outbreaks, right round the world, including ebola, and he said when he was on the diamond princess, he was scared, and believes he could have contracted the virus, because he said that the Infection Control measures aboard are totally inadequate. And that, certainly critics believe that that is why we are seeing daily, this drip, drip, feed of cases, increasing aboard what some have been describing as a floating prison. You have heard there, from the frustration, the anxiety among passengers as they hear each day of those who are having to be taken off the ship and taken into quarantine. We are told the passengers will leave. Will be disembarked by the end of this week. The 543 people who are currently diagnosed with coronavirus are being treated in hospitals nearby but as you heard there, from the british man who has been trapped here for the last 14 day, it seems that they are also short on hospital beds to treat any passengers, and the concern doesnt stop there, because although the Japanese Health authorities are saying it is safe to leave, and many people who has been trapped here for the last 14 day, it seems that they are also short on hospital beds to treat any passengers, and the concern doesnt stop there, because although the Japanese Health authorities are saying it is safe to leave, and many who has been trapped here for the last 14 day, it seems that they are also short on hospital beds to treat any passengers, and the concern doesnt stop there, because although the Japanese Health authorities are saying it is safe to leave, and many people have been taking taking taxi, although the Japanese Health authorities are saying it is safe to leave, the current new cases were all there before the quarantine measures went into place, there are experts who are throwing doubt on that and it is no just the experts, other countries are saying that they want these passengers to undergo another 14 days quarantine when they reach their home country, australia, canada, the United Kingdom, and certainly south korea took their passengers home this morning and south korea has gone one step further saying any foreigner off the boat be banned from entering the country. So, it does seem there is genuine concern that even those coming off, testing neverty for this virus, maybe potentially spreading it further. 0k. Laura. Thank you very much for that update. Caroline flacks family have released an unpublished Instagram Post she wrote before she died, in which she talks about her arrest for assaulting her boyfriend. It comes ahead of the inquest into her death which is due to open later. The former love island host was found dead at her home in london on saturday. Its understood she took her own life. The post says ive lost myjob. My home. My ability to speak. The truth has been taken out of my hands and used as entertainment. But i am not a Domestic Abuser. We had an argument and an accident happened. An accident. A bbc investigation has found the ministry of defence breached health and safety laws 40 times in the last two decades, and that over the same period 148 Service Personnel died, not on the battlefield but in training exercises. Bereaved families say that lives continue to be put at risk by repeated mistakes during training, and have made renewed calls for the military to lose its immunity from prosecution. Wyre davies reports. Craig roberts knew that his dream ofjoining the sas would be tough, but it was a dream that shouldnt have cost him his life. Seven years ago, he was one of three recruits who collapsed and died on a special forces selection march in the Brecon Beacons because of the extreme heat. The inquest into the death of the three were damning of the mod. The coroner ruled that the exercise was run by people who hadnt been trained properly, and planning was poor. Craig didnt have an accident. He didnt fall off a cliff. He was failed by the army, by the special forces, that day, and that shouldnt have happened. In 2016, there was another fatality. Joshua hoole collapsed and died during training, again because of heat illness. As in 2013, at least two opportunities to stop the march hadnt been taken. The mod does have specialist kit like this device, which can indicate how hot it really is. This wasnt being used properly. The mod promised to train people on it and to introduce warning labels, but as of late last year, they hadnt even done that. We havent made it that hot, just 22 celsius, to simulate for you whats happening in the field and to show that actually it doesnt have to be extremely hot to get problems with heat illness. 0ne expert who gave evidence at the inquest into the brecon deaths say the effects of heat are not taken seriously enough. Were talking about lives here, so its really disheartening to see that people dont match the guidance to what is happening in the field. Mod needs to find a way to empower the people on the ground to actually act on what they see, act on these guidelines, and stop exercises, change exercises or pull individuals out of exercises if they see theres a problem. We have discovered that, over the last 20 years, the ministry of defence breached health and safety laws at least 40 times. But there had been no court cases because of its immunity from prosecution under health and safety law. Solicitor Hilary Meredith represents families of servicemen and women who have died during training. Ive seen so many families go through this, and its traumatising. The same accident happens again and again. The only way the mod are going to learn is to have its immunity removed. The mod says the safety and well being of its personnel remains its top priority, and that all deaths in training are investigated and reviewed. Craigs parents now want the law changed so that the mod can face prosecution over its failures. For now, none of these mens names appear on war memorials, because they died not in battle, but in training. In a moment, the weather, but first lets join Victoria Derbyshire to find out what shes got coming up in her programme at ten. Good morning, in our exclusive story today, all the cases currently being heard by a family courtjudge who dismissed a womans claim she had been raped because she had done nothing physically to stop the alleged perpetrator traitor should be reviewed. That according to a joint letter by 130 lawyers and womens rights groups. As the inquest into the presenter Caroline Flack starts our family have shared an unpublished social media post she wrote before she died. We will have more on that later. Before we go to the morning briefing, let me bring you some news on inflation, the latest inflation figures from the office for National Statistics and the rate of the Consumer Price index inflation went up Consumer Price index inflation went up injanuary two 1. 8 , up from 1. 3 in december says the 0ns. Time now for the morning briefing, where we bring you up to speed on the stories people are watching, reading and sharing. Immigration is trending across several social media platforms, as the government has announced its shake up of the uks immigration system. From next year, people who want to work in britain will be treated the same whether theyre from the eu or outside it. The new system is about points and people who want to come here will need at least 70 to apply. So how do the points break down . Having a job offer before you apply will get you 20 points. Youll also get a further 20 points if thatjob is at an appropriate skill level. An additional 20 points will be awarded if you have a £25,000 pound salary, or work in a sector where theres a labour shortage. And speaking english will also be a requirement that will earn you 10 points. But therell be no entry to the uk for most people doing whats classed as lower skilled work in restaurants, care homes or Food Processing plants. Earlier, bbc breakfast spoke to the home secretary, priti patel, and asked if there would be any circumstances where low skilled workers who do not reach the 70 point marker would be allowed into the uk. I think first of all, when it comes to the Labour Market itself, we will continue to look at the dynamics of the Labour Market and sectors. If there are labour shortages in key sectors. Ive been working with the Migration Advisory Committee on many of the recommendations they put to mea of the recommendations they put to me a few weeks ago have featured in the Development Office policy so we will continue to review the Labour Market, and key sectors in the economy and of course, as i have said, there will be tradable points over a phased period of time with the development of this immigration system that will facilitate and enable people with the right skills that our economy needs. The practical reality, the point im getting at, is the practical reality of this points based system, and a lot of people are already suggesting this, is there will have to be so many exemptions that make the broadbrush treatment irrelevant, and thatis broadbrush treatment irrelevant, and that is why im focusing in on this issue of whether there are circumstances where notwithstanding whether you take points from one place, your language is better, your qualifications are better, there will be people who can do jobs in the uk who will never reach that 70 point marker, in the low skill sectors. So will they be allowed to work in the uk if they dont reach the 70 points . I think its important to the 70 points . I think its im porta nt to reflect the 70 points . I think its important to reflect that the system we are introducing is about the brightest and the best and we want to encourage people with the skills, the right talent to come to the uk and we do want to end and reduce the level of numbers of people who have been coming to the United Kingdom with low skills. We believe firmly, and we have seen this through Labour Market analysis and also statistics, figures alone, we have over 8. 45 Million People in the uk aged between 16 and 64 who are economically inactive. We want businesses to invest in them, invest in skill developing, train with the government and the levelling up across the uk are gender in terms of more Economic Growth across the regions, investment in people but also skills and technology. We have plenty of people in the United Kingdom who businesses should be looking to up skill and train, and of course, that will complement the work we are doing at the high skilled end but also complement already the millions of people who are already in the United Kingdom through Free Movement, those that have registered and the applicants we have had, over 3. 2 Million People through the eu settlement scheme, to continue to support our economy and our Labour Market. But importantly, make sure we have a high skilled, highly trained and highly productive economy in the future. Last nights brit awards are trending on twitter in the uk. No fist pumping celebrations forjuergen klopp last night as they slipped to that rarest of results, a defeat. The liverpool return where they won the Champions League eight months ago failed to inspire them. If anything Atletico Madrid raise their game. Saul niguez could hardly miss is the only goal of the night was a gift. Alvaro morata, the former chelsea striker, is the top scorer there this season and should have doubled their lead. Atleticos keeper was largely redundant. Liverpool were getting closer, with mo salah heading just right. Just wide. Jordan henderson volleyed wide of the same post. An injury to their captain late on hardly lightened the mood. Put him on the back foot from round one and keep him there. Ive got his number because he put me down and could not keep me down and that must play on his mind because everybody else he has knocked out apart from the gypsy kings, so im coming for you, baby. And this from Novak Djokovic has had a lot of love on twitter. Nothing to see here, just the world number one playing tennis with some young fans on the streets of belgrade. Afterwards Novak Djokovic said it was just spontaneous and he had marked out the lines, promised them a net and said that these are the moments that you live for. I do wonder where they got the tennis rackets from though. Just a reminder that sports days at the usual time of 6 30pm, but that is all your support for now. Lets take a look at the headlines. Therell be no visas for low skilled workers as the government unveils plans for a points based immigration system. More heavy rain is expected in flooded communities in england and wales, adding to fears that flood defences might not withstand rising river levels. The first passengers who have tested negative for coronavirus have begun leaving a ship moored off japan, after 14 days of quarantine. Its five hundred years since the death of the italian renaissance artist, raphael famed for his portraits and frescoes. A major exhibition in london later this year will show some of his best loved work. And in the vatican, theyve been getting ready to hang his tapestries in the sistine chapel, beneath michelangelos ceiling. 0ur correspondent mark lowen gained exclusive access to the preparations. Choir singing where sacred power needs artistic mastery, night brings quiet but no rest. In the sistine chapel, where popes are chosen beneath michelangelos glory, we got rare access to the cleaning of one of humanitys greatest triumphs. It is an important place. We have to do thisjob it is an important place. We have to do this job and its very emotional for us to do this. To do it is a job that in this chapel, for me, is the best that i can do in this life. The upkeep now is particularly special 500 years since the world lost michelangelos contemporary, raphael, preparations to host his tapestries in the chapel where they were designed to hang. Amidst the magical story of this place was an intense renaissance rivalry between the older michelangelo and the younger, more sociable raphael. Legend even has it that while michelangelo was absent during the painting of the ceiling, raphael even snuck in to take a peek. The competition for favour driving these masters to new artistic heights. Raphael, the so called prince of painters died suddenly on his 37th birthday. The anniversary has spurred painstaking restoration beneath some of his most famous frescoes. Treasure preserved for centuries to come. Among the greek philosophers in his school of athens is heraclitus, who raphael mockingly painted as a sulking michaelangelo. For the commemoration, analysis is being done on raphaels portrait of a young woman thought to be his lover. It willjoin an exhibition that will go to london this autumn. Back at the chapel, a delicate operation to bring in the tapestries. Raphaels splendour unfurled once again. There is a debate. Some prefer michelangelo, some raphael. And to have them, we may say, together, is very important to understand the balance and compare them, to see how they talk to each other. Five centuries on, the masterpieces are where they belong, rivals reunited in perfect harmony. Mark lowen, bbc news, at the vatican. Lets get more now on the brit awards. As we heard, the big prize, album of the year, went to the rapper, dave, for psychodrama. Hed earlier performed a version of his controversial track black, which accused the Prime Minister of being a racist. Lewis capaldi was named best new artist and won song of the year for someone you loved. And Billie Eilish gave the live debut of herjames bond theme, no time to die, backed by a 22 piece orchestra. Lets speak to the entertainmentjournalist, al horner. Good to have you with us this morning. Award ceremonies are always now political, arent they . Discuss. We dont get an Award Ceremony without somebody making a political comment. We have had a real rise in p0p comment. We have had a real rise in pop music grappling on with issues recently and now it is expected of p0p recently and now it is expected of pop artists, especially hip hop artists to use their platform to grapple with these problems and a real way and bring attention to things. Its not just real way and bring attention to things. Its notjust in music, we see it in film as well, the baftas, the oscars. Last night was another moment in what feels like a real tradition now and the brit awards does have a history of this and two yea rs does have a history of this and two years ago we had stormzy attacking theresa may over her handling of the g re nfell tower theresa may over her handling of the Grenfell Tower disaster and this year, as you mentioned, dave picked up year, as you mentioned, dave picked up the big award of the night, best album and he used his performance to throw in some ad libs in which he described Boris Johnson throw in some ad libs in which he described borisjohnson as a real racist and discussed racism in the uk in very powerful detail. 0bviously uk in very powerful detail. Obviously it was quite in inflammatory and sparked a lot of conversation but that is what he does and its the story of his album. Diversity was also a subject brought up last night in terms of the number of women, female artists nominated for awards which is something we had seen through the film awards season, so no surprise that the theme was continued here as well. Yes, a strange one last night because previously the brits has really reckoned with a diversity problem that has mostly been about race and in 2016, 2017 there was the hashtag, brits so white and this year we had a big yearfor a wrap with dave and stormzy winning and there was more racial diversity across the nominations on the winners but unfortunately it was a case of one step forward, two steps back, because it wasnt overwhelmingly male line up in terms of nominations on the winners and, yes, i think the brits has an obligation to try and correct that because for a start, its not reflective of the real story of British Music right now. When you look at charlie xcx and fka twigs they are pushing British Music forward and making a Cultural Impact and it needs to be reflected in the award shows but in terms of the message sent to people at home, young girls at home, there a bigger conversation up the minute about women in music, and the reading and leeds musical festival announced their bill last week and came under criticism for again the overwhelmingly male line up. The a nswer overwhelmingly male line up. The answer is often, in these cases that while more women should be picking up while more women should be picking up instruments and putting themselves into the hat, if you like, but when you have these line ups and you have these award ceremonies that are overwhelmingly male, the message you send to young girls at home is that these are not places for you. Very briefly, what was the standout performance of the night . Talking about the music, purely. I did love dave, im a big fan and it was nice to see Billie Eilish performing the james bond theme and shes an incredible young artist. 0ne theme and shes an incredible young artist. One of those people, and Jack Whitehall made the joke, the only teenager who puts Greta Thunberg to shame with her workrate. Thanks for talking to us about the brits. The former Nottingham Forest and notts county forward Justin Fashanu will today posthumously inducted into the National Football museum hall of fame. Justin was britains first black Million Pound footballer and also became the first english professional to come out as gay while still playing. He took his own life aged 37. His niece amal will today accept the award on his behalf, on what would have been his 59th birthday. Robbie de santos is the director of sport at stonewalls rainbow laces, which encourages acceptance of lgbt diversity in sport. Hejoins me now. Very good to have you with us today and Justin Fashanu remains, to this 22 years after his death, the only male professional football in britain to have come out as gay. Are you surprised by that . It is a shame that that is still the case but i thinkjustins experiences that that is still the case but i think justins experiences cast that that is still the case but i thinkjustins experiences cast a long shadow on the male Football Community and i think the experiences he had after coming out in the 90s really, really sent quite a shock wave through the Lgbt Community and there was a sense it was not compatible to be a gay or bisexual man at that level of football. I hope a lot has changed at Grassroots Level but it goes to show how big an impactjustins experience had on the community. When you look at some of the abuse that players have received because of the colour of their skin, do you think that would put off someone who is gay from coming out as gay because they think they might be the subject of this sort of abuse as well . Unfortunately there is still a lot of discrimination and abuse that happens in football. It is committed bya happens in football. It is committed by a minority of people and thats not to say it is endemic, but it is a really challenging and hostile atmosphere in football for lgbt people. We know that 43 do not take pa rt people. We know that 43 do not take part in sports and feel that they are welcomed and inclusive. What is being done to counteract that . And do you take encouragement from the womens professional game . Do you take encouragement from the womens professional game . A lot has started to change and we have been running a campaign at stonewall for the last four years and weve been seeing huge support from the premier league and Football Association and we are talking right through the national game, the mens game, the womens game, grassroots and International Level and especially in the premier league. That campaign has gone native, so to speak on the clu bs a re has gone native, so to speak on the clubs are fighting about who will have the brightest and most colourful support and they are amplifying voices from their fan groups and both the fa and premier league are doing great work behind the scenes as well. Robbie, we have to leave it there, but thank you. And it is time now for a look at the weather forecast. Here and it is time now for a look at the weatherforecast. Here is simon king.
