I dont want to jump up and down and start screaming death, death, because thats not what its about. Well, lets begin in washington. Cnn White House Correspondent john harwood joins us. We know, john, that following the revelations in the atlantic piece about the president s reported comments about the military that he was upset, concerned, tried to push back very hard. What is his level of concern now that his own words were caught on tape downplaying this . Reporter well, hes obviously been extremely distressed by that story, and you saw that in the vehemence of his reaction to the bob woodward revelations just like the vehemence of his reaction to those comments in the atlantic. I will say that as divided and polarized as the country is and as difficult political position the president is in at the moment, this is an opportunity because 9 11 is the most unifying event in our recent national history. For an earlier generation it was world war ii. For this generation its 9 11, and the gravity of that event, the solemnity of that event is something that the president now has an opportunity to mark as joe biden will mark, and its something that is seared into the minds and hearts of nearly everyone who was conscious and alive that day. This is the first election, by the way, in which people will be voting, 18yearolds will be voting, who were not alive on 9 11, so some of that National Memory is changing, but for those of us who were, well never forgot that moment and its the opportunity for the president of the United States as george w. Bush did, as barack obama did after him to to express to americans a sense of understanding and empathy and gravity of that situation. Thats right. As former president george bush did on that day, john harwood. Thanks very much for that reporting. Wed like to take you now. This is near shanksville, pennsylvania. Lets listen to the moment of silence when United Airlines flight 93 went down. [ bell tolling ] linda gronland. They are going to read the names of all 40 passengers and crew on flight 93. If you havent read the accounts or even seen the movie of whats believed to have happened on flight 93, you really should or maybe just to refresh your memory, a remarkable story of heroism on that day full of so much tragedy and loss. They are going to read each of those names now where flight 93 went down. Well continue to bring you these moments of silence as they happen throughout this morning, but the other story were following is the continuing national tragedy, you might call it, certainly challenge, although there is some good news. Almost 30 states are now reporting downward trends in new covid19 infections. That said, vigilance is important and the nations leading Infectious Disease expert, dr. Fauci says the pandemic will likely worsen again, sadly. I just think we need to hunker down and get through this fall and winter because its not going to be easy. We know every time we restrict we lift restrictions, we get a blip. I mean, its getting its whack a mole. Yeah. This when it comes as a new cdc forecast predicts 20,000 more americans will die from this virus just in the next three weeks. Thats an acceleration of the death rate. Lets discuss with cnns medical correspondent dr. Sanjay gupta. Can you explain why that is, why we think were going to see an uptick in the next three weeks . Yeah. I think a lot of it, jim, has toss do with the increased mobility among people, you know, as schools are e opening. I hear so many people sort of describing this covid pandemic in the past tense sort of feeling like its over now that were going into fall which is, you know, its just the opposite, is and, you know, dr. Fauci has been saying this all along even if you go back to summer, dr. Redfield said weve got to be really, you know, prepared for the fall because we know that respiratory diseases in general tend to increase in the fall. You know. The only precedent, jim, that we have for something thats quite like this, you know, goes back more than 100 years, the 1918 flu pandemic and let me just show you, its sobering to remind you what it looked like back then, but keep in mind if you can see on your screen, the first wave there was a small peek, but it was really that second wave, jim, going into the fall that was so problematic. People starting to be indoors, more easily spreading the virus person to person. We hope that doesnt happen and people will say, hey, look, theres no second wave with this because we havent really gotten out of the first wave. Back in 1918, at least for a period of time, we brought it down to a very low number, we still havent done that. History is a guide here. You see from the history of the 1999 flu pandemic that places that open too quickly, they were punished for it, it would be nice if we learned those lessons. Dr. Gupta, i want to know your reaction in particular to seeing and hearing from the president himself on february 7th, telling bob woodward in his own words that he knows how uniquely deadly the coronavirus outbreak was given that three weeks later on february 28th he had this exchange with you in the White House Briefing room. You know it well, but i want to play it for our viewers so they remember it. Have a listen. I want to get your thoughts. And so thats a very tricky one. Thats a very delicate one. Its also more deadly than your you know, each your strenuous flus. You know. People dont realize, we lose 25,000, 30,000 people. Flu has a fatality rate of. 1 . Correct. And this has a fatality rate of somewhere between 2 and 3 . We dont know exactly. Based on numbers so far. The flu is much higher than that. More people get the flu, but this is spreading and is going to spread maybe within communities. It may. It may. Thats the expectation. Does that worry you because that seems to worry the American People . Because were red for it. It is what it is. Were red for it. Were really prepared. I want to ask you. The president says that was just about keeping people calm. From a Public Health perspective by misleading about the relative danger of coronavirus versus seasonal flu did the president endanger american lives . Yes, he did. I mean, its its sad to say. Its sobering and its shocking. When i walked away from that press conference back in the end of february i thought, you know, look, they are just not paying attention to this. They dont know whats happening. Its just one of those things that they are trying to ignore. Now i realize, after listening to those tapes that you played at the beginning of february, that he actually had a remarkable understanding of this. I mean, it was pretty sophisticated. He was saying five times deadlier than the flu and that was back in the early part of february so he was getting information, some of which was going back and looking at my notes, jim, wasnt really in the medical journals yet. We were getting information from the medical journals. A lot was coming out of china at that time obviously, thats how we were consolidating. He was getting added information probably from, you know, president xi himself or others, from china, who knows, but he had the knowledge. Thats what was most striking to me about this. This wasnt i think its bad. Five times deadlier than the flu he said, air borne. He was using terms that we would learn about, you know, within the next several weeks or months. Thats amazing. He knew more then than even the doctors knew. Very quickly before you vlastuin such a struggle for schools around the country and parents as well and youve talked publicly about your own struggles to decide whats right to do for the kid. Are schools getting the balance right in terms of how much to open, who can open and where is it safe to open . This is its a really tough one. I have this conversation all the time with people. I mean, there are specific criteria, you know, by which you should open schools and, you know, i i know that this is difficult, but, you know, the criteria are pretty clear that you needed to have had two periods of 14day downward trend this your area and positivity rates that are going down and certainly below 10 . Jim, you know, we pulled kids out of school when there were fewer than 5,000 people infected and putting kids back in school when theres more than 5 million, 6 million infected in this country. You know, it doesnt make sense, right . Schools are doing this because they want to return some sense of normalcy, but were going to look back on this time, just like i showed you that graph of 1918 and say why did we have these sudden upticks in the number of infections . What was going on here . We decided to aggregate people together who had clustered together in the middle of a pandemic when had the numbers were getting worse. Maybe theres a couple places in the country that meet those criteria, but sadly, jim, most places dont, certainly not where i live, you know, here in george and most placed around the country dont meet those criteria. Sanjay, we know youll keep us on top of it. Thanks very much, as always. You got it. Thank you. Sanjay, thank you, and just building off that conversation, lets spent a little bit of time salking about universal sacrifice. Well check in with the woman who this summer became the first person in the country to receive a shot as phase three Clinical Trials for coronavirus vaccine. Lets see how shes doing, dawn baker of savannah, georgia is with me. Good morning. Good morning. Its good to have you, and i do keep coming back to this thought of universal sacrifice, because thats exactly what youre doing. You are giving of yourself your body to hope that we can achieve a vaccine in this country and protect so many people. You were the first, as i said in the phase three trial through moderna. I know you just got your second shot recently. You dont know if its the drug itself, the vaccine or the placebo. How are you feeling . I feel great. I had a mild headache and my vaccine arm was swoelen, felt swollen, similar to when you get a flu shot, and i had one restless night that first night and other than that i have felt really good, i have a lot more energy than i normally had had in the last two years because i work a midnight shift so i work 3 00 to midnight and im just so proud to be a part of this process and hopefully this will be the answer that we need to stop all the suffering that weve endured over the last several months. For people who dont know, you are a beloved anchor in savannah, georgia at our affiliate wtoc and another thing that makes you such an important voice for this, right . You do interviews. You know how to talk to the public to help people understand what youre going through, but as i understand it, this is also pretty personal for you because your friend, your colleague there who is just 27 years old, she was hospitalized with covid for 11 days. Yes, she was, lindsey had to go on a ventilator. Lindy has had several medical procedures as well, and she is still recovering, and this is some 70 days past that. You know, honestly it was even bigger than lindy pause to me it was never about data. It was always about families, and it just really broke my heart. It had me, you know, depressed overwhelmed and wondering what i can do just hearing about the large number of people who were getting sick. Some mildly sick and many more severely ill and, of course, all the deaths just broke my heart because i know that families are being ruined and i have friends and loved ones who have lost close Family Members. I know people who have passed away, and, you know, it just hurt my heart that number one they were sick and also they were so extremely sick. Even lindsey, no one could go and visit her. I know. Thank gosh lindsey survived but those who didnt survive and die alone, what the families are going through, it really is just inhumane honestly. It is, the loneliness is such a painful part of it that i that i think we often dont address enough. Im glad that you brought that up. We have to talk i mean, you not only is a public figure is doing this but as a black woman, the fact that these trials, a number of them have slowed down because there are not enough minority participants, especially black participants in them, and when you broke the news that you were going to be part of this and the first to talk this vaccine shot, a woman wrote this on facebook, dawn. Dawn lost her mind. Another person wrote i got two words, tuskegee experiment. How do you fight that, the history in this country . You know, i cant fight it. I completely understand the fear. Blacks have certainly been mistreated in this country from the beginning of time. The tuskegee experiment in case people dont know was a syphilis experiment where they gave syphilis to Healthy People for 40 years to see how they would react and then when penicillin and the cure came about no one would give it to them, also the founder of modern day gynecologists did experiments on enslaved black women without their permission and so a lot has gone on and a lot needs to be addressed, but, you know, my hope is, that you know, number up, im not crazy. I knew that this was not a live virus, and i also knew that my doctor of more than 40 years was taking care of me and my family very well. Right here in savannah, dr. Paul bradley, the key investigator for the Meridian Health investigator and when he asked me to do it i asked him is it live, am i going to get covid from doing this and i trust that he would not ever lead me down a road that would hurt me so to me it was a wonderful opportunity to be a part of the solution, so i just really feel that maybe what needs to happen is before we get into these vaccine studies there is needs to be some effort made to the Minority Community to actually explain and acknowledge that there is a problem and whats going on there. Dawn baker, thank you for being here. Thank you for doing this. Come back, if you would, after the next one. Well, no more shots for me, thank goodness. Im done with that but ill come in to chat any other time to let you know how im doing. Look forward to that. Take good care. Thank you very much. Thank you. President trump has had to play defense a number of times in the last week starting with reports that he repeatedly disparaged the u. S. Military and now defending his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. The president claiming he did not lie to the American People about the severity of the crisis. Trouble is he did and his voice is on tape. Joining me now to discuss is the known National Security analyst and former director of National Intelligence james clapper. Director clapper, thanks so much for joining us this morning. Thanks, jim, for having me. Good to be with you. Well, weve heard the tape, and the president knew in private the severity of this outbreak especially in comparison to seasonal flu and yet days later he saido wise to the American Public and has in fact repeated those kinds of questions for weeks and months that followed. Did him misleading the public in your view cost american lives . I dont think its any question about it. Particularly during a sevenweek period there where it was a constant state of denial and, you know, this is going to go away. Its under control, et cetera, et cetera, and theres a lot director clapper. Hold your thought if you can for a moment because the president is about to speak at shanksville, pennsylvania. At this very hour on this field 40 brave men and women triumphed over terror and gave their lives in defense of our nation. Their names and their stories are forever enscribed on the eternal roll call of american heroes. Today we pay tribute to their sacrifice, and we mourn deeply for the nearly 3,000 precious and beautiful souls who were taken from us on september 11th, 2001. To the Family Member of flight 93 every heartbeat in america is wedded to your yours and the memory of your treasured loved ones will inspire america for all time to come. The heroes of flight 93 are an everlasting reminder that no matter the danger, no matter the threat, no matter the odds america will always rise up, stand tall and fight back. To every 9 11 member all across this nation, the first lady and i come to this Hallowed Ground deeply aware that we cannot fill the void in your heart or erase the terrible sorrow of this day. The agony renewed, the nightmare relived, the wounds reopened, the last treasured words played over and over again in your minds, but while we cannot erase your pain, we can help to shoulder your burden. We promise that unwavering love that you so want and need, support, devotion and the very special devotion of all americans on that september morning when america was under attack, the battle turned in the skies above this field. Soon after taking off from newark, new jersey, radical islamic terrorists seized control of united 93. Other hijacked planes truck the north tower of the World Trade Center and then the south tower and then the pentagon. The terrorists on flight 93 had a fourth target in mind. It was called our nations capitol. They were just 20 minutes away from reaching their sinister objective. The only thing that stood between the enemy and a Deadly Strike at the heart of american democracy was the courage and resolve of 40 men and women. The amazing passengers and crew of flight 93. Donald and Jean Peterson were grandparents traveling to vacation in california. Theora bodily was a student headed back to college. Richard wardadou was returning from celebrating his mothers 100th birthday. Bryn collace was three months pregnant with her first child. Every passenger on the plane had a life filled with life and joy, family, radiant hopes and limitless dreams. When the plane was hijacked they called their families and learned that america was also under attack. Then they faced the most fateful moment of their lives. Through the heartache and the tears, they prayed to god. They placed their last calls home. They whispered the immortal words i love you. Today those words ring out across these sacred grounds and they shine down on us from heaven above. When terrorists race to destroy the of our democracy, the 406 flight 93 did the most american of things. They took a vote and then they acted. Together they charged the cockpit. They confronted the pure evil, and in their last act on this earth they saved our capitol. In this pennsylvania field the 40 intrepid souls of flight 93 died as true heroes. Their momentous deeds will outlive us all. In the days and weeks after 9 11, citizens of all faith, backgrounds, colors and creeds came together, prayed together, mourned together and rebuilt together. The song God Bless America became a rallying cry for the nation. We were united by our conviction that america was the worlds most exceptional country, blessed with the most incredible heroes and that this was a land worth defending with our very last breath. It was a unity based on love for our families, care for our neighbors and loyalty to our fellow citizens, pride in our great flag, gratitude for our police and First Responders, faith in god and a refusal to bend our will to the depraved forces of violence, intimidation, oppression and evil. In new york, arlington and shanksville, people raced into the suffocating smoke and rubble. At ground zero the world witnessed the miracle of american courage and sacrifice as ash rained down. Police officers, First Responders and firefighters ran into the fires of hell. On this day more than 400 First Responders gave their lives, including 23 new York City Police officers, 37port Authority Workers and 343 new york city firefighters. Today we honor their extraordinary sacrifice and every First Responder who keeps america safe. With us today is david dimato, a retired Chicago Police officer and a current officer of the navy reserves. On 9 11 he drove from chicago to ground zero. As david says, while the sights and smells of working at ground zero will forever be etched in my mind, what is more profound is the ray this country came together afterwards. The Police Officers and firemen were revered as the heroes they truly are. The military was appreciated in a manner not seen in decades and Common People found new meaning in values like friendship, kindness and selflessness. Thank you, david, such beautiful words, and thank you to every member of Law Enforcement who risked their lives to ensure our safety and uphold our peace. This morning we also remember the 183 people who were killed in the attack on the pentagon andy the remarkable members who crawled through the raging blaze to rescue their comrades. We express our undying loyalty to the nearly 6,000 young men and women who have enlisted in the United States armed forces since september 11th, 2001. More than 7,000 military heroes have laid down their lives since 9 11 to preserve our freedom. No words can express the summit of their glory or the infinite depth of our gratitude, but we will strive every single day to repay our immeasurable debt and prove worthy of their supreme sacrifice. America will never relent in pursuing terrorists that threaten our people. Less than one year ago american warriors took out the savage killer and leader of isis al baghdadi. Soon after the iranian butcher who murdered thousands of American Service members, the worlds top terrorist sol manie is dead. With us is chuck wagner, a heavy equipment operator, who lives just a few miles away. Very soon after the attack chuck helped search for the black box. He was so changed by what he experienced that he joined with several members of his church to become what they call ambassadors for the 40 men and women on flight 93. Chuck and his neighbors learned about each person, cared for their families and each day, rain or shine, they took shifts standing vigil over their final resting place. Long before this place was a national memorial, back when it was marked by a simple wooden cross, chuck and his fellow ambassadors were always here waiting to tell visitors about those we lost. 19 years later chuck says his life is devoted to three things, his family, his church and preserving the memory of the men and women of flight 93. To chuck, his wife jane [ applause ] thank you very much. Thank you very much. To chuck and his wife jane, thank you so much for being here and to the over 40 ambassadors with us today, please stand and receive americas thanks, and this is a very deep thanks. Please. [ applause ] thank you very much. Also with us is marine veteran jason thomas who long island. On september 11th jason had just retired from the marines, but he immediately put back on his uniform and raced into the nightmare of ash and debris at ground zero. He found a fellow marine, dave carnes. Together they began to call out United States marines, United States marines. If you can hear us, yell, tap, do whatever you can do with the United States marines. Soon they heard a shout for help. Two Police Officers were trapped below 20 feet of rubble. Jason and dave dug for hours on end knowing that at any moment the wreckage could come down on them, is crushing them alive. At one point someone told jason to stop. Jason replied im a marine. I dont go back. I go forward. That day jason helped save the lives of those two officers. For years jason said nothing about what he did on 9 11. He did not even tell his five children, but when he saw a rescue recounted on tv he decided to meet those officers. One of them gave him a gift, a steel cross from a beam that jason helped lift to free them from the hell on earth. As jason said about the cross, it means a lot. Its a symbol of what we are as americans because that day we all came together and stood as a nation as americans. It didnt matter what race you were, what religion you were. It didnt matter. We all came together to help one another. Oid die for this country. Id die for this country. Jason, thank you very much for bearing witness to the character of our nation. Jason. Thank you very much. [ applause ] the men and women of flight 93 were mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, husbands and wives. Nothing could have prepared them for the deadful events of that morning, but when the moment came, when history called, they did not hesitate. They did not waver. 40 towering patriots rose up, took charge, made their stand, turned the tide and changed the course of history forever. Our sacred task, our righteous duty and our solemn pledge is to Carry Forward the noble legacy of the brave souls who gave their lives for us 19 years ago. In their memory we resolve to stand united as one america nation, to to fend our freedoms, to uphold our values, to love our neighbors, to cherish our country, to care for our communities, to honor our heroes and to never ever forgot. Thank you, god bless you. God bless the heroes of flight 93. God bless all of the families. 9 11 will never forgot. God bless you all, and God Bless America. Thank you very much. Thank um. [ applause ] the president speaking there near shanksville, pennsylvania where, of course, united flight 93 went down, a cause we believe and the heroic action of its crew and passengers 19 years later, we mark their loss. Im back with james clapper, the former director of National Intelligence. I dont want to take away from the moment of the day, certainly director clapper. Perhaps just since i have you and you served in intelligence for so many years, decades, to share some of your remembrances from that day on 9 11. Well, jim, its for anyone who is alive and old enough, it is, you know, burned in our memories, and and, you know, we all remember exactly where were and what we were doing. I happened to be on the uth skirts of st. Louis prepping to be the director of what was then the National Mapping agency which i took over two days after 9 11 and, you know, you cant help but reflect on the unity of the country and the aftermath of that attack and where we are now. 19 years later. I thought the president made, you know, his remarks were appropriate for the moment. Yeah. I mean, i should note for folks that dont know, the agency now known as the mga helped spot the compound where Osama Bin Laden was and figured out that thats where he was before the mission was launched there. I do wonder. Do you believe that if an attack such as that were to happen today that this country would be capable of showing the unity that it showed in that moment after 9 11 . Actually i do, jim. As hard as that might be to accept i i think an attack of that gravity, of that magnitude, with the loss of life that we suddenly incurred, would would would promote unity, and its a shame that it takes Something Like that to generate that unity, but i think it would. One, i do want to talk now about what were facing today as a country because you and others described russias interference in the 2016 election as something of a political 9 11. Were 50 some odd days from another election in this country. Its the judgment once again of u. S. Intelligence that russia is interfering on a grand scale, again, to denigrate the democratic opponent of the president. I wonder. I just spoke with the dhs chief of staff miles taylor who confirms in his service in the Trump Administration there was deliberate effort to downplay intelligence about the russian threat more broadly and specific to the election. Does this make this election more vulnerable to foreign interference . Oh, i think it does, and for for all kinds of reasons, you know, theres a little confusion now which which may be deliberate to cloud, you know, the real threat to our system. By the way, we suffered an attack. Didnt result in many immediate loss of life, but we suffered an attack in 2016 and were experiencing another one now, and one of the things that worries me about this time is the russians have, im sure, done whatever they can to ensure that their tracks are covered. In other words, they are harder to detect, and make no mistake about it. Russians are the primary threat to our system, not the chinese, not the iranians, the russians. As you were speaking there, director clapper, so our audience knows, this is the president. He laid a wreath at the memorial there at shanksville, pennsylvania for those 40 passenger and crew members who died in this crash. If you havent been to that memorial, its worth going, folks, in the middle of nowhere but you can still feel the presence of that history. Before i let you go, is director clapper. Until 2016 you told me when you were serving as this interference was taking place in the election that you had genuine concern that russia would not just interfere with disinformation as they did but by interfering in actual voting systems, and its the judgment that that did not happen then. There is concern about malware embedded in some systems, possibly in florida and elsewhere. Whats your concern that russia will interfere with votecounting or registration this time around . Well, im concerned about it, jim, for this reason. We do know that the russians didnt appear to do anything about the Voter Registration rolls and things like that but what that could have been is gaining knowledge of the battle space, if pull, for some future action, messing with Voter Registration rolls, messing with the process for computing and compiling votes, so, yeah, it does worry me. Yeah. And, of course, the russians have gone to school on what weve revealed about what they did in 2016 so as i have said earlier i think they are their hackses are going to be harder to detect, so, yeah, im concerned. Well, director clapper, thanks so much for your views. Thanks as well for your service to this country, including in the days and years after 9 11. Thanks, jim. Thanks for having me. Poppy, back for you. Really good to have his voice, especially today and, jim, especially in this moment. Ahead for us, were going to talk about colleges and universities. You are our hero. Champions for change all next week on cnn. Well, more than 40,000 covid19 infections have been reported among students, faculty and staff at colleges and universities across the country, but the university of illinois has been leading on this. They have instituted arguably the most comprehensive testing plan in the country. Some 40,000 students receiving at least two salivabased tests each week. Student and faculty cannot enter any building on campus unless the app confirms they have tested negative and theres also a mask mandate on campus but last week the school ordered students to restrict inperson activities through september 16 following a spike in cases due to student parties. Joining me now is the chancellor robert jones. Good to have you, sir. Good to be here. My husband is an alum so hes a big fan. He was also not surprised that students, you know, were partying and that that it caused this issue, and its a really serious issue that i want to get to in a moment but lets just start with whats working, okay . This 10 salivabased test that youve been giving every student twice a week for free to them, can you tell us where the idea came from and how successful it is . Well, its a test that we not only give to our 40,000plus students but to our faculty and staff as well. This test grew out of our basic commitment to transition as quickly as possible to some form of facetoface instruction in the fall. As we finished up the Spring Semester remotely, my provost professor canni professor kangalaris said we needed testing scaleable and affordable relative to what was available. Yeah. And hes been a part of the university for a number of years now. He reached out to one of his friends and colleagues do marty burke who pulled together a team of two other scientists in their multidisciplinary laboratories and in the course of three weeks they innovated this salivabased test. This is so encouraging and a model for not only other universities but states and cities. Heres a problem that youve run into. Heres how the New York Times describes t. Quote, the predictive model included an oversight. It assumed that all of the students would do all the things they were told to do. Enough students continue to go to parties even after testing positive showing how even the pest thought out plans to keep College Education moving forward can fail when humans do not heed common sense or commands from Public Health officials. Did it even surprise you that students were going to parties knowing that they were positive . Well, it didnt surprise me as your husband apparently commented and its always gooded to meet someone thats an an alum. I think its surprising to him that people would go when they are positive. Thats what im surprised about. Thats the part that was the surprise. Nigel goldenfield and sergei maroslav are model physicists who modelled what a return to campus look like, had anticipated and included in their model the fact that students were going to be partying. They include the possible number of parties that would occur, but with no one anticipated that students would violate isolation rules and regulations after they had tested positive, not responding to calls from the Public Health department and actually hosting and going to parties after they have tested positive. We didnt anticipate that, but the other factors were anticipated. Thats what led to the actions that we had to take last wednesday. Should they be expelled . Are you thinking of expelling anyone who breaks protocol . Oh, we have expelled already eight students in the last couple of ten days or so . Wow. Eight students and one organization and one fraternity. All right. Let me get your response to some criticism and you read the Student Newspaper there, i know, and im sure you read this oped about you this week and heres what one student who is an english major writes. Quote, he, being you, asked the university to the University Community to, quote, document the evidence of noncompliance and submit it to an a online forum. The chancellor of our university asked us to spy on our peers, this orwellian request only sows paranoia and distrust. Whats your response to that . Well, my response is all ive asked our students to do, and let me be clear. The vast majority of our students are outstanding citizens. They are complying. They are doing everything to keep themselves and others safe. Were just asking to create a culture of compliance because the students had an option of returning to campus face to face or to study remotely and by being here we have very High Expectations that we articulated on the front end and now were asking students if they see something thats out of compliance to let us know because this testing at the scale that were doing has the best possibility of keeping our University Safe and allowing us to keep the semester moving forward in a way that we envision. It does, and i should note case numbers are going down now this week. Thats good news. Yes. And you guys have been total leaders on this front, so bravo to your team, and thank you, chancellor. Well, thank you so much for the opportunity and my regards to your husband, our alum. Look forward to meeting him one day. I will. Appreciate it and thanks to all of you for joining us.
