You know, he got up this morning and i think decided he was going to be talked about all day long by just about everybody, and it turns out that he was talked about all day long by just about everybody. How many times do you think he practiced that . Oh, i think, you know, first he had to write the line im the chosen one and then he had to practice it. He probably had ivanka come in and critique and tell him how it looked. She said it looks terrific, daddy. This is absurd. To quote the Prime Minister of denmark, this is absurd. This is an absurd man. Yeah. Who has brought us to an absurd level. Phillip, he is tweeting a quote from a conspiracy theorist. He said the jewish people in israel love him like he is the king of israel. They love him like he is the Second Coming of god. I mean, king, Second Coming of god, i mean thats a messiah complex, right . The people of israel, they love him, right . But thats a messiah complex. He is popular in israel, yes, thats true. Of course. Jewish tradition actually says the messiah when the messiah comes will be someone who brings peace and tranquility to the world. Not exactly something i think donald trump is doing. But, you know, part of it has this very weird notion i think donald trump has about nationality, which is that donald trump thinks American Jews should be loyal to the state of israel. American jews are american citizens. Its just like he called judge curial, born in indiana, he called him a mexican. For donald trump if youre not white and christian, the idea is you dont really belong here so you actually belong somewhere else. Did i call you phillip . Im sorry. Its an honor. Its an honor. So, peter i mean phillip. No, im kidding. The president s accusing American Jews of disloyalty. Watch this and then well discuss. In my opinion you vote for a democrat, youre being very disloyal to jewish people and youre being very disloyal to israel, and only weak people would say anything other than that. So, listen, his defenders are trying to say that, you know, he doesnt mean what you think he means, right, about this whole thing about a dual about questioning and having a dual loyalty. I think what he said today is exactly what he meant when he was speaking in the oval office yesterday. He meant to say that he thinks American Jews who vote disloyal are being disloyal to israel. I reached out to the white house. Weve been hearing for months these critiques of donald trump show me the evidence. Show me what youve got that says here how these people are antisemitic. What they provided to me was a list of things we already know about nothing dealing with two of the four Congress Members, but one of the points thats central to it is claims that Representative Ilhan Omar of minnesota had made a dual loyalty allegation, which is precisely and much more directly what President Trump did today. I think especially in the connection to the tweets. Hes really speaking to his base. In the same way he made this outreach to black voters in 2016 in an attempt to sort of say to his base, look, i do care about black voters as well. I think what hes doing with this is trying to show to his base, hey, im not antisemitic. His evangelical base youre talking about . Thats exactly right. Let me ask you this. Were you satisfied. I read the article when you asked the white house, so what are all these antisemitic things these Congress Women allegedly said. They gave you a rundown and it wasnt necessarily a laundry list of things. Were you satisfied with that list . I was not expecting anything more to be fair. Donald trump has portrayed these four Congress Members has been inherently antisemitic and thoroughly antisemitic. One tweet from Rashida Tlaib from michigan which is sort of questionable as to whether shes saying something that could be construed as antisemitic. Various things by ilhan omar that have been talked about in the press. Nothing about alexandria ocasiocortez. Nothing about ayanna presley. It is simply donald trump trying to label something as antisemitic to label the democrats without any justification. Doesnt matter. When he tweeted out during the campaign an image of Hillary Clinton with the star of david over the background of money. He told jewish republicans in april that netanyahu was, quote, your Prime Minister. Part of why were seeing anger now is because that isnt new. That there is so many other examples. Like the example of charlottesville. Charlottesville then early in his life talking about how he wants short jewish guys in yaum kas to count his money. This is a man who uses these tropes whenever theyre convenient to him. Hes kind of lost in the 1940s and and 50s new york city hype ethnic awareness period where everyone seemed to identify themselves. Well, youre an italian american. Youre a jewish american. You know, he doesnt seem to get that were all americans first. Yeah. And i think that philip was absolutely right, that he was making a play for the evangelical base, which has fetishized israel and has gone done a complete 180 as regarding israel to necessary as armageddon and planning on them being wiped out in the war that will end civilization to embracing israel and saying were also like the jews. We evangelicals are like the jews and were with you. And the last thing that i think is really notable and you and i talked about this earlier today. Whenever the president gestures wildly, the more he gestures, the more you know that hes lying and that hes trying to sell you something. So all day long today he was gesturing wildly. He was looking up to the lord. He was using his hands in an extreme manner. And thats his tell. That means that hes manipulating us and lying. And this, when he does that thing. Yeah, the swaying. So, i mean, but isnt it just strikes me, peter, as michael was talking there, this is, you know, he trump and his supporters always accuse the left of identity politics. Right. This is the definition of identity politics, dont you think . Right. Thats exactly right. I think that what donald trump doesnt understand is that most American Jews, not all, theyre not monolithic, but most American Jews identify with people who are the underdog and are oppressed and marginalized because of our history. Jews always felt we would be safer in america where the most persecuted groups found firstclass citizenship. Thats why American Jews went south during the civil rights movement. It wasnt only that it was the right thing to do. In the wake of the holocaust, American Jews knew that if africanamericans couldnt become firstclass citizens, our situation was always in peril. Thats why American Jews identify with Rashida Tlaib and ilhan omar and alexandria ocasiocortez even if there are differences on israel. We know that donald trump and ultimately people like him represent a threat to us as a minority with a history of persecution. Michael just brought this up, philip, but i want to talk about it. When trump was quoted by an extrump exec in 1991 as saying black guys counting my money, i hate it. The only kind of people i want counting my money are short guys that wear yamulkes every day. Thats a racist twofer. I think the most remarkable thing about this moment is we constantly hear donald trump being put out there were going to let donald trump be donald trump. Hes the guy thats not politically correct. He tells it like it is. He says what everyone else is thinking yadda, yadda, yadda and at the same time were supposed to believe he has this very well reserved views of people around him. Donald trump, you watch the very first republican primary debate. The first question he gets, he says, well, im not about being politically correct. Statements like that are very believable. A, everything that donald trump says suggests he believes these sorts of things and, b, he presents himself as saying these sorts of things. For us to then give him the benefit of the doubt in terms of how he approaches other people is foolish on our part. It has real world implications for people. Donald trump is maybe doing this because it will get him votes or get him national attention. But there are people out there in the country who listen to this stuff and taunt kids at school or beat people in the street or god forbid shoot people in their houses of worship. Its not just a game. Peter, this for you. When democratic congresswoman ilhan omar was accused of using antisemitic tropes on multiple occasions, she was and still is condemned. Watch. There is a rise of antisemitism. We already stood up to congresswoman omar just a few weeks ago, and she just repeated it, even which i believe worse, questioning the allegiance and the alliance of American Jews. Could they could they be true to america . They accuse people who support israel of doing it for the benjamins. Theyre antisemitic. Theyre antiamerica. You had a lot of people breaking their silence speaking out about this antisemitic trope. It is infiltrating its antisemitic and there is antiisrael hate that is infiltrating american politics. Innocent American Jews and others are going to confront, well, then im not going to be silent about it, im going to confront it. Antisemitism has no place in the United States congress. And congressman omar is terrible what she said. So they all went after ilhan omar for what she said and what she tweeted. Peter, zeldin is now defending the president. Trump is doing what he was accusing omar and others doing. Is anyone speaking out against trump now . No, because its much easier to paint a black muslim woman as antisemitic. The people are much more inclined to believe that than they are about a white man like donald trump. Remember, there is also a larger agenda here. The agenda is anyone who comes along and wants to talk about the realities of the oppression that palestinians face, right, palestinians who live in the west bank without basic rights, without the right to move freely, without the right to be citizens of the country in which they live are destroyed politically. People go after them in order so they cant be a credible messenger. I dont agree with everything ilhan omar has said, but the reason that she has been attacked as she has, when her statements have been 1 10, 1 50th as offensive of what donald trump has said, shes actually trying to challenge american policy in israel and palestine. Shes trying to get people to look at the way that palestinians are living and donald trump is not. So basically thats hypocrisy what we heard . I deep hypocrisy. Well, its obscenely ignorant and obscenely moral. When accusations of Donald Trumps antisemitism come up, everyone points out, well, his daughter and his soninlaw are jewish. And his grandchildren. I think hes ignorant about judaism. Hes ignorant about christianity. The very idea that he could retweet something about the Second Coming of god when jews havent acknowledged the first coming. By the 2020 fiscal year, it will be over 1 trillion and continue to rise over the next decade. These warning signs, they keep mounting. Yeah, i mean, there are a number of reasons to be concerned. Were not about to tip into another Great Depression yet. I hope we dont. But there are a number of things that are worrying. I think whats interesting is that a lot of trumps shall we say stupid economic ideas seem to follow the same pattern that, that they start out with him saying, you know, dont worry, dont listen to the experts, whatever theyve told you there wont be any pain. The trade war, you know, chinas going to pay for the tariffs. The tax cuts, theyll pay for themselves. And then of course when we find out that thats not true, you hear from the white house and from his advisers, okay, okay, maybe theres going to be a little bit of pain in terms of higher deficits or farmers suffering or what have you, but you know what . It will be worth it. It will be worth it because eventually china will pay for the tariffs. Eventually the tax cuts will pay for themselves. And all we need to do is just have more tariffs and more tax cuts, right . Because obviously the lesson is if something isnt working, keep on doing it. I thought Stephen Moore took over your body just now when you were saying that invasion of the body snatchers. This is the argument hes been making. Yeah. He and other Trump Supporters have been making, despite the fact that, again, every actual expert has said from the very beginning that, no, the tax cuts were not going to pay for themselves and, no, the tariffs are going to impose major costs on americans, and yet for some reason they kept denying reality. The revisions, though, just to make clear you told me, those are just through march. It may be revised down for right. Once a year the bureau of labor statistics does this massive revision that only goes through the previous march, so it doesnt include whatever has happened since the trade war has really ramped up. Rick, the Congressional Budget Office also says that the trade war could hurt economic growth, but today the president defended the trade war in rather lofty language. Listen to this. Somebody said its trumps trade war. This isnt my trade war. This is a trade war that should have taken place a long time ago by a lot of other president s. I am the chosen one. Somebody had to do it. So im taking on china. He calls himself the chosen one. Is the economy and both trumps biggest asset it is his biggest asset, potentially also his achilles heel i would imagine. The tax cuts didnt pay for themselves, as katherine has been saying. The deficits have been skyrocketing, the trade war he said would be easy to win and it is still going on. You know, don, after being named the chosen one, the king of the jews, the conquerer of greenland, i dont know how donald trump tops himself but youre right, the economy is absolutely something that has protected him in the minds of an awful lot of voters. And, you know, look, this was a continuation of the gigantic quantitative easing we had and the general Economic Trend that was going on, you know, through the end of the obama administration. It wasnt some magical thing that donald produced donald trump pulled out of his ample backside and said here is my miracle economic plan. Its the sort of glide slope we were on. Now he upset that glide slope. He started doing these things like the trade war. We did this tax bill that was wired up, and i know the guys who wrote it, it was wired up for about 150 hedge funds and billionaires in this country. It had nothing to do with middle class tax relief. So when it didnt pay itself off. The trade war is obviously having a gigantic effect on the economy, particularly in the upper midwest where thing asector and the manufacturing sect tore are all taking a huge beating on this. Of course, what are we doing with those farmers losing their farms because Donald Trumps trade war blew up their trade with china . Were subz diesing. Were borrowing from china. President trump doubling down today on his criticism of Jewish Americans who vote for democrats, accusing them of being disloyal to their fellow jews and to israel. Wayne allyn root is a conservative conspiracy theorist who hosts a nightly show on newsmax tv and is practically hailing trump as a messiah. Heres what President Trump wrote. He said, thank you to Wayne Allyn Root for the very nice words because root said President Trump is the greatest president for jews and for israel in the history of the world. Not just america. He is the best president for israel in the history of the world and the jewish people in israel love him, like hes the king of israel. They love him like he is the Second Coming of god. But American Jews dont know him or like him. Okay. Well, the president clearly impressed, ending his tweet with the word, wow, exclamation point. And just a short time ago, the president tweeted out another clip from Wayne Allyn Root and thanked him again. Weve got to get away from the democrats because theyre no good for us. They are just selfdestructive. If youre jewish, youre voting democrat, youre voting against yourself. Youre voting against israel. Youre voting against the american economy. Youre voting for higher taxes and more regulations. Youre voting to let millions of foreigners into the country who are going to take american jobs and raise our taxes and commit crimes, some of which could affect your children. Wayne allyn root says hes jewish by birth. In 2016 he described himself as a jew turned evangelical christian. He offers no evidence that jews love trump like he is the king of israel or the Second Coming of god. By the way, the Second Coming is a christian belief, not a jewish tenant. And like i said, Wayne Allyn Root is a noted conspiracy theorist. He once said barack obama was sent here to destroy america. And there are reports that Wayne Allyn Root is a birther.
