Television productions have been put on hold here and a whole lot of people are on the move right now. Jump on the freeway there. Welcome to early start this morning. Im christine romans. It is 4 00 a. M. In the east. 1 we start in alabama where roy moore starts the home stretch of his campaign today, the final six days with a boost from steve bannon, the former white house chief strategist headlining a Campaign Event just a day after the president himself endorsed moore. Moore has been accused of Sexual Assault and impropriety involving teenage girls. Bannon slammed several quote establish republicans including Mitch Mcconnell and jeff flake who earlier tweeted out this. A check donated to the democratic opponent, doug jones. The white house not backing down from the president s endorsement. Weve said that the allegations are concerning. And if true, he should step aside, but we dont have a way to validate that and thats something for the people of alabama to decide which weve also said and we maintain that. And ultimately it will come down to the people of alabama to make that decision. Gary tuckman has more for us this morning from alabama. Reporter sweet home alabama is now playing as this rally has come to an end. It was held in a barn here in alabama. It was quite an event. It was a roy moore rally but the reason so many people showed up was to hear steve bannon introduce its and he attacked democrats, he attacked members of the news media i be then he really went off on people he called staff republicans. But he really reserved his ire for mitt romney. He had tweeted the other day, roy moore in the u. S. Senate would be a stain on the gop and the nation and listen what bannon said. You ran for commander in chief. You had five sons, not one day of service in afghanistan and i iraq. We have 7,000 dead and where where the romneys during these wars . Judge roy moore has more honor and integrity in a pinky finger than your whole family has in his whole dna. Reporter he said this election should be left up to alabamaians. But it was steve bannon who really got the headlines here today and he also got a tweet from doug jones, the democrat running against roy moore. He said after this event was over, we dont need an outside agitator like steve bannon carpet bagging in alabama. Thanks. In a matter of hours President Trump will formally recognize jerusalem as the capital of israel and he will order the state department to start the process of moving the u. S. Embassy there from tel aviv. U. S. Allies in the region warning the move undermines stability and sabotaged the Peace Process between israel and the pal tinians. Calls for protests prompting this word of caution from the american counsel in jerusalem. United states citizens should avoid areas where crowds are gathered. President trump plans to sign a waiver delaying the embassy move for another six months. The entire process expected to take several years to complete. Lets go to cnn live in jerusalem. Remind our viewers the significance of moving that embassy. What it says and why why it would stoke so many tensions. Reporter well, lets just look at it. Jerusalem is a city that both israelis and palestinians want to be the capital of their country. Now, israel says that they want a united jerusalem. The palestinians say they want East Jerusalem and that was going to be determined through negotiations. At least that is the stand of the International Community and thats why you see all the embassies in tel aviv and not in jous lemm ev jerusalem even though they have their government here in jerusalem. So the United States would be breaking essentially with the International Community by moving the embassy and declaring jerusalem the capital of israel. Weve had key American Allies warn against this move because it could provoke a backlash on the street, and create instability in the region. Key allies like jordan, egypt and saudi arabia have warned against this. The israelis have welcomed it. Weve heard from a number of officials saying that this is a Long Time Coming that the United States were to do this, but you know, it also comes down to the Peace Process. What does this mean for peace between israelis and the palestinians . Weve heard from a number of palestinian officials who have said that if this move does go forward, which were expected later today, they said it could kill the Peace Process and essentially sideline the United States. All right. We know youll be watching it for us and american citizens have been told to avoid large gatherings, large crowds, a lot of folks waiting to see what will happen when the president makes this announcement. Significant developmentes in the russia investigation. Donald trump jr. Faces the House Intelligence Committee for a closed door interview. Hes sure to be questioned about his contact with russians during the Campaign Season and transition. And more charges expected to be filed against rick gates. The special prosecutor have already charged him and manafort with 12 offenses with Money Laundering and of course now bail now in jeopardy after it was revealed he was ghost writing an op ed last month. Manaforts lawyers expected to respond to the op ed allegation tomorrow. Advisors to mike pence, the Vice President increasingly anxious about his exposure in this widening russia investigation. Democratic senator Richard Bloom bloom bloomenthal wants to hear what he knew about Michael Flynns conversation with russian officials. Seven people close to the Vice President tell cnn pence was unaware flynn spoke to the Russian Ambassador about sanctions despite the fact he was the head of the transition team. But unsealed Court Findings and new details about President Trumps own knowledge, flynn lied to the fbi, all indicate that a wide circle of advisors were aware flynn raised the sanctions issue with the ambassador. Now many say many in pences circle worry he will be called for an interview. Pences team is pushing back on that idea. The Vice President is focused on passing the largest tax cut in american history. First Lady Melania Trump and second lady karen pence plan to meet with Emergency Responders and get an updated on the region that was devastated by Hurricane Harvey this summer. Theyll visit an Elementary School and a food bank where they will help volunteers sort boxes of donations. The republican bill is headed to congress, but President Trump promises the final product will be better than either version. Its a tremendous bill for jobs and for the middle class and i think people see that and theyre seeing that more and more and the more they learn about it the more popular it becomes. Perhaps because its not very popular at the moment. A fresh polling shows less than one third of americans approve of the gop tax plan. Both promise big Corporate Tax cuts that add to the deficit with no guarantee it will add jobs or raise wages. 41 of americans believe it will raise their taxes. The losers grow over time. For example under the senate plan 81 of americans get a tax cut in 2019. Now look by the year 2027. Only 14 still get a cut and a fourth would pay more while the biggest benefits go to the top earne earners. Unless you live in one of those big blue states. Which we do. Where the local income tax reduction will hurt middle class families. Theres also this suggestion, steven moore who is an advisor to the president on this and someone who contributes here on cnn. Hes called this bill death to democrats. Starves tax breaks for universities, for graduate students, for teachers and for the big blue states and republican unions in the big blue states. Reporter christine and dave, an incredible picture that if you zoom, you can see at least four different fires burning. And the biggest one is here in Ventura County. This is the remnants of one of the homes that has been destroyed by the fire and if you look over to my left you will see that that entire hill had fire coming across it. All it takes are strong winds to blow the embers from that on to a structure like a home and the home goes up very quickly. Weve watched it happen time and again. There are at least 150 homes that have been destroyed in this fire alone and were talking about three other major fires that are also burning but this one so far, were talking about tens of thousands of acres that have already been burned and it has been very hard throughout the day for firefighters to get it contained because of the winds that have been blowing through very strong winds that at some point some of the winds were upwards of 70 miles per hour. Imagine that and the fact that it is so dry here and very, very difficult for them to get these flames under control. So far, there are no fatalities and that is the good news, but for the families who have not yet seen their homes, who have not been able to get back into the neighborhoods, this is devastating. But just to give you the backdrop to this, this is about much more than sports. This is political. President putin declaring this might be an american plot in the Russian Election that is happening in march which is just after the winter games. Theres a meeting scheduled for december 12th where the prospective olympians will figure outs whether theyre going to compete under the neutral flag. So a lot of questions remaining about that. As i say, we still wait to hear an official response from the kremlin. No government response, but we are seeing some reports of 22 athletes challenging their lifetime bans with the court of arbitration for sport. I will check back with you next hour. When you look at jerusalem as a city, it has so much significance for the for the jewish people it is home to the holiest of sites. For muslims it is home to the third holiest site and thats why youre seeing a lot of Muslim Leaders around the world speaking out against this. A new york judge considering whether to allow a lawsuit against him to proceed. Former apprentice contestant is suing the president for defamation after he denied allegations that he sexually assaulted her repeatedly calling her and other accusers liars seeking fame in the final days of the campaign. He said he kissed her without her consent, touched her breast and pressed his genitals against her. Reporter good morning, christine and dave. Attorneys argue that then candidate trumps statements denying her allegations and repeatedly accusing her of lying and of seeking fame by the allegations against him constitute defamation. They point to a series of comments he made on the campaign trail and on twitter and say those statements caused her emoti emotional and financial harm. They want a retraction of all defamatory statements or an apology from the president and they want damages to be paid determined by the court. Attorneys for the president say this case is politically motivated and that trumps statements were protected speech under the First Amendment because they expressed quote, political opinion. They also argued she cant sue the president in state court under the supremacy clause of the constitution and they say if the judge allows the case to go forward it should only begin after the trump presidency. Something her attorneys say would be hurtful to their client. I spoke briefly with one of her attorneys after the hearing. Watch. Summer is certainly a role model of courage to have filed a lawsuit which is now proceeding against the sitting president of the United States. And we think that truth matters. Reporter now, well be watching closely for the judges ruling in this case. If this case is allowed to go forward it would have significant ramifications for the president. You would have a sitting president forced to answer these charges in an Ongoing Court case and he could potentially be called to testify. Its also possible that other aspects of the president s sexual history and past conduct would be deemed relevant and so we could hear from some of trumps other accusers. All right. It will allow athletes who can prove they are clean to compete under the neutral olympic flag. Cnns Clair Sebastian joins us live from moscow. Its quite a rebuke. Reporter yeah, absolutely, christine. In the last half hour weve got the First Official response from the kremlin saying they are going to look at this. Theyre going to analyze it and theyre going to exclude any emotion he said. Now, this is interesting because in the past, throughout this doping scandal the kremlin has been very quick to come out and dismiss all allegations or rebuke as you say against them and this is a more sober, perhaps less defensive stance. The sense that these blanket dismissals havent worked for them in the past and theyre really going to have to start working with the International Sporting authorities to work through this. But having said that, we did get an International Flare up of kind of anger and dismay from others in political circles here in moscow. The Foreign Ministry saying they are trying to basically discredit all of our ways of life, our way of life, our culture, our history and now our sport, the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman saying we will survive though. Another prominent senator coming out saying this is a political provocation so thats how people have interpreted this in russia all along. It has very little to do with sport or doping and this is simply the west trying to contain russia. The big question though, christine, Going Forward is will russia appeal this.
