Arrested, according to tunisian authorities, four linked to the attacks, the Prime Minister identified two suspects by name saying on french Radio Station atl, one had been known to security services. The two gunmen killed recruited at a tunisian mosque in september and trained at a jihadist camp in libya. According to tunisian interior official. Who told a french broadcaster tfi the Security Forces worked quickly, killing them before detonation. President obama called asepsi on thursday offering continued support during the investigation. Youre going to see the lowlevel attacks, but highimpact attacks, it will not be long before it comes to the United States because it is so easy for isis al qaeda, any other of these groups to do. Crowds marking it tunisias Independence Day are gathering in the center of the city of the capital here. Its always a big event in tunisia, this year many hope the rallies will also a symbolic gesture of defiance against those they now believe threaten this countrys very existence. Michaela . We saw those march at the wake of the Charlie Hebdo massacre in france were seeing the same thing, people rallying around their countrymen. The attack is raising fears about the islamic states reach. A new cnn orc poll finds 80 of americans consider isis to be a serious threat to the u. S. Way up from 63 who said the same in september. Want to discuss this all with phillip mudd cnn counterterrorism analyst and former c. I. A. Counterterrorism official and Lieutenant Colonel james reese, cnn Global Affairs analyst and retired Delta Force Commander who joins us from overseas. Theres a bit of delay, so well be patient with that. Colonel reese, lets start with that were learning that the attackers killed by the tunisian Security Forces were wearing explosive vests that did not have time to detonate. Does this fit the style of isis to you . Good morning, michaela from baghdad. It does you know weve seen throughout the years, that these attackers, theyre well trained, they go to the safe havens such as libya, they get some very good training. But they also realize that once they get into these assaults that the chances of coming out of there alive are slim to none. So that really putting the suicide vest on is their last chance bastion to go ahead and conduct a secondary dynamic explosion when forces are coming in to wreak more havoc. So yes, weve seen it and yes, i believe well see this other places throughout the middle east as we go forward. Phil mudd i know that weve learned that these two men that were killed by tunisian forces, they had been radicalized in a mosque in tunisia. They had trained in libya, were finding out now. A, does this fit the profile . And b, do you believe this claim that this was isisrelated . First of all, i believe the claim that it was isis related. That word related is critical. Back 15 years when we had al qaeda, they would have more tightly controlled this. You would have said an al qaedacontrolled operation. Now what isis is doing is sort of sending out sparks of this kind of islamist revolution to groups that dont have close connectivity to the center. But they believe in the ideology. So i think this is a spark of isis. Its not controlled by isis. In terms of the people radicalized in the mosque and trained in a neighboring country, that is libya, think about two things here. The revolution in tunisia meant looser guidelines on what people could say. Freedom of speech. I think theres a lot of tunisians who are saying wow, freedom of speech brought us the ability to have somebody in mosque radicalize a youth like we saw in this situation. In terms of the training final point. If you look at tunisias final geography, algeria on one side, a lot of instability for years, libya on the other side a lot of instability. If youre sitting in the middle of that. You got to be worried after this incident. Some 3,000 tunisian men and women have left or well we dont know if theyre men and women we know that 3,000 have gone to libya or to iraq and syria. Let me ask you about this carnage specifically colonel reese. The fact that so many people were killed in what seems somewhat spontaneous. But it was clearly targeted they struck at the very heart of tunisias economy tourism. There was a real message being sent there. Yeah there is. Throughout the middle east especially in some of these religious places around the world that have these religious Historical Places this is one of the things that isis or dyche can affect the economies, they can affect the tourism of people coming in. It affects everyone down to the taxi drivers. I think it will affect other places around the world and governments have to take a hard look at how theyre going to stop this. Weve got new polling out, it measures the temperature of american sentiment and tolerance of whats going on. Maybe we can pull some of those up. In the last six months the level of concern that americans feel for isis has gone up 12 . If you look at it now, back in september it was 68 . Now 80 of americans feels that isis poses a serious threat to the United States. The white house has got to be paying attention to that. The concern of the americans is growing. Their concern is growing. I watch that phrase serious threat. To me theres a substantial difference between concern. Im a professional im concerned about this as a serious threat. Im part of the 20 , im part of the minority here. Let me be clear why. Americans are responding very emotionally to this as they should. But, but if you look at the metrics if youre an analyst as i am you got to be coldblooded. Metrics would tell you, ive got ten nieces and nephews, what is the impact on an American Family and how do you rate this against things like the fact that educational standards in this country compared to the west are okay theyre not great. Were talking about a generation of youth that might have lower Life Expectancy than i have were talking about synthetic drugs introduced in schools that are cheaper, but deadlier. Youre saying compared to bigger realities that americans face at home, we dont need to put isis in a category they dont belong to. Correct. You should be concerned because this is a group thats had time to blot theyve been around for years. But if you step back and say how do i measure concern about things that might affect the child, i would say you might even consider not putting this in your top ten. Its not going to affect a kid in a grade or high school thats my metric for how to measure concern. That may be something we need to hear especially from somebody who knows whats going on and has a true read you both are great analysts we appreciate it phillip mudd and Lieutenant Colonel john reese. President obama zeroing in on irans youth, urging them to pressure their leaders to accept a nuclear deal with the west. The president made the plea in a justreleased Youtube Video, this as the Nuclear Talks in switzerland seem to be hitting a road block and a deadline. Just 11 days away. Cnns Senior International correspondent Nic Robertson right in the middle of the discussions in switzerland. Good morning, nic. Good morning, john the talks slipping a little bit. This morning Prime Minister zarif, the iranian Prime Minister and foreign secretary john kerry have not sat down yet. Thats expected soon. President obamas message to the iranian people now is the time to make an important choice. This is what he said. Irans lead verse a choice between two paths. If they cannot agree to a reasonable deal, they will keep iran on the path its on today. A path that is isolated iran and the iranian people from so much of the world. If irans leaders can agree to a reasonable deal it can lead to a better path. The path of greater opportunities for the iranian people. Now, i asked the Iranian Foreign minister this morning, if theres still time to make a deal before the deadline. This is what he told me. Do you think a deal is possible by the 31st of march . I think a deal is possible any time. It depends on the political will whether its a political will to reach one. Its possible. Interesting, because his talking about political will earlier in the week the iranians have been talking more about the need to make ground on technical issues. Secretary of state john kerry has said all along its time for political compromise tough choices on the iranian side about president obamas message. Zarif had his own message that he had tweeted earlier. He told me when i asked about it he said it is high time for the United States and its allies to choose putting the choice here back on the United States for the United States to choose pressure or agreement. The indication there, a big pushback from the iranian side if the United States john kerry wants to get a deal here he needs to stop pressuring the iranian side. Alisyn . Nic, its all so complicated, thanks so much for explaining it to us. And theres a new complication in u. S. israeli relations this morning, president obama calling Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday, to congratulate him for winning reelection two days after the fact. But he also issued a warning to the Prime Minister. That the u. S. Is now reassessing their relationship. We have complete coverage beginning with cnn White House Correspondent michelle kosinski. Whats the word there this morning, michelle . Well this time it was Benjamin Netanyahus turn to get schooled by the white house. Which very publicly said that words matter. And that there are consequences. I mean the president has now called netanyahu and there was a word of congratulations. But he also brought up these highly controversial things that netanyahu said just before his reelection. Namely namely that he said there would never be a twostate solution with palestine while he was Prime Minister. And that his supporters should counteract all of the arabs going to the polls in droves. As he put it. The white house calling this divisive saying it erodes the shared values between the u. S. And israel. I mean the press secretary mentioned no fewer than 19 times yesterday during the press briefing that as a result the u. S. Is now reevaluating its position moving forward. Even though netanyahu has now walked back virtually everything he said. Listen. Now the Prime Minister of israel says earlier this week days before an election this is a principle he no longer subscribes to and his nation no longer subscribes to. That means the United States needs to rethink our approach. That this that steps that this principle has been the foundation of a number of policy decisions that have been made here. Now that that foundation has been eroded it means that our policy decisions need to be reconsidered. And part of that reevaluation, the white house says does include the u. S. Constantly standing up for israel in the u. N. If any of this upsets netanyahu, well he always has House Speaker john bainer to talk to. Who has Just Announced he is going to go to israel within the next two weeks, and meet with netanyahu. Michaela . All right, michelle certainly one that well be watching. The israeli Prime Minister has apparently had yet another change of heart. Now that all the votes have been counted. Lets turn to Oren Lieberman live from jerusalem. Oren . Youre right to point out the timing or the aspect of timing to all this. It was right before the election as netanyahu was trying to play to rightwing voters he said there would be no palestinian state. There would be no twostate solution as long as he has the premiership. As long as he is Prime Minister. He could have corrected our impression of it that night. He had time the next day when he released statements on facebook urging voters to get out there. Instead he waited until after the election. In terms of what israelis think, netanyahu was polarizing before he will be no less polarizing of a figure after these comments. In terms of what the palestinians think, the other side of the issue. We got a chance to sit down with dr. They dont believe netanyahu is interested in a twostate solution, they dont believe hes interested in negotiations they will do what theyve been doing, pursuing statehood through the international arena. Through the u. N. Through the european recognition, so john we could learn what the word reassess means sooner rather than later with the palestinians pursuing international recognition. Thats a very loaded word. And a very long relationship Oren Lieberman for us in jerusalem, thanks so much. New developments concerning the uva student whose bloody arrest was caught on camera. Martese johnson is speaking out, denying claims that he was carrying a fake i. D. His lawyer says that suggestion by officers helped precipitate their violent confrontation. Cnns brian todd following the latest for us from the campus in charlottesville. We have important new information this morning, filling in crucial gaps in the story. Information from Martese Johnson and his attorney giving their version of those crucial moments that occurred before that amateur video was shot. New details from them on how johnson sustained those injuries. I trust that the scars on my face and head will one day heal. But the trauma from what the abc officers did yesterday will stay with me forever. 20yearold university of virginia student, Martese Johnson, standing alongside his attorney as he he reads a statement days after his bloody arrest by uniformed alcoholic Beverage Control special agents the abc, outside of a local bar. But officers on the scene questioned him anyway. The conversation resulted in my client being thrown to the ground his head hitting the pavement. The officers knees pressed into his back. His face and skull bleeding and needing surgery. Abc says johnson was arrested and charged with public intoxication and obstruction of justice. Uva student Jennifer Goldman saw part of the confrontation. I didnt see him resisting. I didnt necessarily see any violence. But then again, to just i didnt see any of them trying to help him. The governor has launched an investigation into the use of force. Students also demanding answers. Were pissed were angry, we want answers, we want people to be punished for the mistreatment they had on the young man, martese and we just need you know we need people to be held accountable. Officials with the abc would not comment when we pressed them yesterday on these charges that there was some racially motivated and some Police Brutality engaged in here. We have to stress the latest version of events is from Martese Johnson and his attorney. Their version of events. What dot abc agents say . Thats the subject of a state investigation, a process that includes actually a criminal investigation into the agents conduct. Ailsen . It will be interesting to see the results of that investigation, brian, thank you. The fbi and the Justice Departments Civil Rights Division trying to answer a troubling question was the hanging death of an africanamerican man in mississippi a suicide or something more sinister . The homeland Inspector General says the tsa approved a notorious felon for expedited screening at an u. S. Airport last summer. The traveler had been convicted of murder and Crimes Involving explosives and even once belonged to a domestic terror group. The report says this highlights the need for the tsa to modify those precheck procedures. They need to modify something. Things dont seem to be working at the moment with airports security. And also modifying the forecast. Lets do it in a big way. Today is allegedly the first day of spring. But theres this snowstorm, this winter storm coming in this first day of spring. How much are we going to get . Chad myers, please tell us. For you, john three to five and 35 degrees, the ground gets pretty but most of the roads will be okay. Spring doesnt technically start until 6 45 tonight. It can snow all the way until then. Because its still winter. But its still going to snow after that i guess. New york probably three to five inches for you. Baltimore, a little bit less probably changing over to almost all rain. D. C. Same story. Gaithersburg seeing some snow it all will melt. Its not going to be a warm couple of days but theres your snow amounts across parts of the poconos, into new york city and we could some spots could see six inches of snow. But the highs today are going to be around 35 for new york city its the haves and the have nots, if youre having snow youre not having warm weather. Below average across the east and above average in the west. Guys . Just to reiterate it must stop by 6 45. Because thats when spring happens. Yeah yeah. Okay. The code says it must end by then. Michaela says it must end by then. Well the white house and israel at odds over Prime Minister netanyahus preelection promise that palestinian state would never happen on his watch. Hes now backtracking on those comments. So we will talk to a top palestinian official about that flipflop. The lifeless body of a 2yearold toddler was pulled from an icy creek. But nearly two hours later, that child comes back to life . That miraculous story, ahead. President obama warning the israeli Prime Minister that the u. S. Is quote reassessing their relationship. The white house angry over remarks made by Benjamin Netanyahu about never allowing a palestinian state on his watch. The israeli Prime Minister now backtracking from those comments. Lets bring in Palestinian Legislative Council member dr. Anan asharwi i want do get to what Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu has been saying in the past few days. Hes been saying conflicting statements. On the eve of his reelection, let me read to you what he said about palestinian statehood. He said i think that anyone who is going to establish a palestinian state today and evacuate lands, is giving attack grounds to the radical islam against the state of israel. When you heard that before his election how did you interpret that . Well as usual, its the politics of panic, of fear of trying to feed israeli sense of insecurity and of course pandering to a sense of racism and therefore, presenting himself as the savior and at the same time playing within an existent and extremist racist ideology and creating a atmosphere or a culture of hate. And rejection and distrust of the other. Its extremely dangerous. Because it backfires as usual. Netanyahu first said he lied when he accepted the twostate solution. Then he said he lied when he rejected the twostate solution. So when do you believe a chronic liar . When you assess his actions on the ground and he has been systematically dismantling the twostate solution. Well last night he said Something Different yet again. He said in an interview on cable news i dont want a onestate solution. I want a sustainable peaceful twostate solution. But for that circumstances have to change. I havent changed my policy. But what he is saying and tell me if there is some veracity in this is that given the state of the world, given all the extremism, the twostate solution is not appropriate right now. No. I think theres no veracity whatsoever in what he said. And it would take a huge grain of salt to believe anything he says publicly. But by the way as i said you have to assess by his actions on the ground. I think he is clutching at straws hes using every excuse possible in order to justify his own ideological position. Which is greater israel superimposed on historical palestine. And therefore, totally undermining and destroying the chances of peace. Because there is a global consensus, that the only viable solution is a twostate solution. Otherwise, it becomes a defacto onestate solution in which the issue becomes one of one person one vote or democratic representation and so on. But the issue is not demographic. Its a question of right. Of justice. Of freedom, of israel learning the concept of limits and of course acting within the law. Not outside the law as it has done so far with full impunity. That is what is needed now, not netanyahus verbal manipulations and spin and all sorts of acts of grand deception. The time has come to assess whats happening on the ground which is extremely dangerous. Because we are in a volatile area and region yes. And israel has contributed significantly to the language of extremism and violence and terrorism. Look at what the settlers are doing in the west bank. Look at the whole issue of devaluation of palestinian lives and rights. Well Prime Minister netanyahu would say that Mahmoud Abbas has also been of two minds. And also of two faces, frankly. In terms of whether or not the palestinian state would recognize israel and the jewishness of israel. That Mahmoud Abbas has also said conflicting things. So where is Mahmoud Abbas on the twostate solution today . Yeah he has never wavered. He has always accepted the twostate solution. He has withstood pressure from his own constituency to in order to maintain a steady course on the twostate solution. The issue is that netanyahu keeps introducing new preconditions. We recognize the state of israel officially. In 1991. With an exchange of letters and that was fine. Suddenly netanyahu pulls out a new precondition that we all have to become accept the jewishness of the state. If we dont accept an islamic state, why should we accept a jewish state or a christian state. Exclusivity isnt part of our ideology. We want a pluralistic, inclusive palestine. The issue is not whether president abbas changed his mind he never did. He has never wavered in his commitment. It is netanyahu that is pulling out every possible precondition in order as usual, to blame the other, avoid any kind of accountability and persist in this dangerous policy. I mean the bottom line Prime Minister netanyahu would say, it is impossible to have a twostate solution when hamas wont recognize israel. Hamas that is now legitimately part of the government and that they want to ultimately in their charter, get rid of israel. So he says that thats a nonstarter. What do you want to hear president obama or the United Nations say today about all of this . Id like president obama and the u. N. The u. N. Has done this they have recognized the state of palestine. I would like the u. S. To abide by International Law and the will of the International Community and International Humanitarian law and treat the palestinians as equals. Worthy of protection of the law. And treat israel as another state, not as a state above the law and outside the law. So as i said netanyahu is clutching at straws hes blaming hamas now. Hes the one who doesnt recognize palestinian rights whatsoever. Hes the one who reneged on every single agreement. He even walked out of the talks and hes not blamed. The issue is not to find any excuse to destroy peace and the chances of peace. The issue is to abide by the International Law and the simplest imperatives of justice and moral responsible behavior. Dr. Asharwi thank you for being on new day. Lets get over to michaela. Is the u. S. Economy all the way back . Christine, you had an exclusive interview, tell bus it. With the treasury secretary in miami at the port of miami yesterday. We talked about how he thinks the economy is strong robust. The job market is coming back. He calls it record job creation. But i asked him what is it that keeps him up at night. He said cybersecurity. Listen. Im pretty tired at night. Im not going to say that anything keeps me up at night. But something that i think i am most people in leadership positions worry about today in a way they didnt a few years ago was cybersecurity. It is just it is a new phenomenon where the risk is great and the learning curve has been fast. I think we in the Treasury Department as the second lead for Financial Services have been doing an effective job moving quickly in that space. But as a country, its an area where we need to be on our guard. The leaders of your government concerned about cybersecurity. You know that the banks are spending hundreds of billions of dollars a year trying to keep your information safe. Trying to keep the Financial System safe. Treasury secretary lew said hes confident theyre doing the right things at the treasury dpafrtment. The u. S. Cybersecurity chief saying the governments efforts to combat cyber hacking are not working and were reaching this tipping point. Admiral Michael Rodgers telling lawmakers the country needs to boost the militarys cybersecurity, their cyberoffensive capabilities. So youre hearing it from all sort of corners of government. That that hacking is really the big concern here. Retailers, Health Insurers theyve been behind the ball. Banks have been doing a little bit better. But leaders of government are concerned about it. So troubling. We havent figured out how to crack the problem. Changing quickly. Well talk more about it later in the show. Coming up for us deep new divisions between the United States and israel. Now the Prime Minister of israel says earlier this week days before an election that this is a principle that he no longer subscribes to and his nation no longer subscribes to. That means the United States needs to rethink our approach. Rethink our approach. That was White House Press secretary josh earnest addressing Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahus comments woe never establish a palestinian state. President obama did call netanyahu to congratulate him on winning and also say that the United States will reassess parts of the relationship with israel. I want to bring in ambassador John Negroponte negroponte a former ambassador to iraq and the United Nations and a former National Intelligence ambassador thanks so much for being with us. You were a diplomatic professional diplomat for decades. You have seen just about everything. But have you ever seen this relationship this bad . The white house using words like rethink and reassess the relationship with one of our strongest allies . Well i think really its whats important now is to try and see if we can cool this situation down a little bit. Its important to get it out of the headlines and back into diplomatic exchange. Because i think what mr. Netanyahu said just before the election was clearly political rhetoric for domestic consumption in order to get reelected in a very close election and i think the white house was a bit too quick to react to that we saw mr. Netanyahu backtrack a little bit if we try to solve this now through constant Public Exchange were not going to get anywhere. He said it then he backtracked. How do you know which one he means. Obviously hes got an election on his hands. But this is israel the whole world is watching whats going on there. He knows people in europe are watching watching his ally there is. He knows the entire region is watching he knows the United States is watching. Youre right, it is israel and theyre the people who are going to have to live in the country where these arrangements are going to be made. And it would be foolhardy to think by going to the United Nations and making some kind of legal statement or declaration, that you can resolve the problem, theres no solution to the arab israeli problem that can be viable unless it has the fullhearted participation of israel itself. So again, as i say, i think weve got to get this back to a place where the United States and israel can Work Together quietly. Over time not just the day after an election. Mr. Netanyahu has got a government to form now. But over the next weeks, to see if we can get this back on course. The idea of reassessing or completely revising our approach to israel quite frankly i think its kind of a political nonstarter. The support for israel has been an article of faith on the part of the United StatesForeign Policy ever since the israeli state was founded. You were the u. S. Ambassador to the United Nations and the u. S. Ambassador to the United Nations is quite literally often the last line of defense for israel in the International Community. The u. S. Uses its veto to stop these measures there that israel is very much against. One of the things that people are suggesting is possibly the United States might not do that any more in certain measures. What would the effect of that be . Well certainly during the time i was there, we spent a lot of time just as you say, running interference for israel. Protecting it to the best extent we could in the general assembly. Where almost every day there was some kind of resolution condemning israel and we tried to mitigate the effects of that. And in the Security Council, we did indeed exercise our right to veto when we saw resolutions that we thought were unsatisfactory. But we had a balanced approach. I was at the u. N. When we passed resolution 1397 which was the first affirmation by a Security Council resolution of the right of palestinian state to exist, side by side. By israel with israel. And we did it in a cooperative way with the israeli delegation. You got to talk these things through quietly and calmly and not through some kind of public shouting matches. What about tough love ambassador . You were part of the Bush Administration accused of putting pressure on israel. When you see things that are not productive shouldnt you pressure them to move in a certain direction . My question is how much pressure could this good friend of ours sustain . They have relations with only two arab states theyre kind of isolated in the middle east region. Theyve relied on us for help. Think we got to continue to show that we are a steadfast friend and ally rather than deepening any sense of insecurity that might exist in the israeli psyche. I think tough love in this instance the way youre describing it could just compound things and be counterproductive. Well obviously ive never been a diplomat for decades and decades, perhaps you didnt use the phrase tough love in your many different jobs but ambassador thanks so much for being with us. You have not been a diplomat is that what youre saying . Not as far as you know. Im going change the resume you have here. That was House SpeakerJohn Boehners first comments since Prime Minister netanyahu made the controversial visit to congress. The speaker now heading to israel deepening the conflict between netanyahu and the Obama Administration. And what about Hillary Clintons position . On netanyahu and israel . We have so much to talk about this morning. Joining us is cnn political analyst and editor in chief of the daily beast, john avlon and cnn political commentator and host of the ben ferguson show ben ferguson thanks so much for being here. Apparently the bromance between john boehner and Benjamin Netanyahu continues apace. Boehner is going to israel and he was guffawing there at someone suggesting that the white house is lukewarm towards Benjamin Netanyahu. How do you interpret all of these relationships, john . Theres no question that under Bibi Netanyahu, likud has been much closer to the Republican Party we saw it in the 2012 election when romney got a state visit and ambassador ron durhamer and the speech to congress this is a continuation and its a partisan and philosophical alliance and obama is on the outs with it. Boehner laughs off any suggestion that theres love between boehner has a great exit line. I just talked to ambassador John Negroponte who says perhaps everything should calm down in the relationship. Wouldnt that include the Speaker Boehner saying maybe now is not the best time to go to israel and keep this in the political spotlight . I think its actually the opposite. When you have a friend that wins an election you celebrate and say hello and hang out with him and show them just how important that relationship is. And you know hosting him in the u. S. , having him address a session of congress and saying okay well now im not going to come hang out with you any more to me would actually be worse than it is now. You got to have a friend in america, theyre very tight. They have a very open line of connection. They dont have that at the white house. Think we saw that from the White House Press conference yesterday. It was abundantly clear that things are getting worse from their perspective. So i think personally, you got to have a back channels open. He should go. John, lets talk about Hillary Clintons position on israel and Benjamin Netanyahu. Yesterday she gave a big speech but it was about summer camp not about israel. It was her last paid speech we believe because shes been making Something Like 200,000 or 300,000 a pop. I could find something to say about summer camp. We believe this is her last paid speech which signals she may be making an announcement soon. Where is she on israel and netanyahu . Hillary clinton has not really built out a policy operation. Everything we have to go by has to do with her time at state. Her last campaign or her time at senate. Shes been a very strong friend of israel particularly when she was a senator from new york and on the Armed Services committee. Its unlikely that in the bibi divide bibi boehner divide is she there was strain between president bill clinton and Bibi Netanyahu at that time. The bad relation between Obama Administration and netanyahu is not exclusive to him. There have been tensions between that particular Prime Minister and other president s in the past particularly bill clinton. Lets talk about the speech and the timing. This was Hillary Clintons last paid speech which essentially means were in the runup to the announcement shes running for president. Not that we havent been in the agree of runup for years. What do you think its going to mean for republicans . How do you think theyre going to treat the former secretary of state in the next few weeks . Theyre going to treat her as a candidate. If i was advising here seeing some of the missteps that have happened around her recently shes got to get a fulltime team around her that is thinking about running for the white house. I think that actually makes things easier for her. Think the timing for her is shes got to get out there before other democrats keep really genuinely thinking maybe i could get in maybe i should take her on. I think shes going to finally be the actual candidate that we already all know that she is. And thats when youre going to see the real fight begin which i mean to be honest with you, is really fun to watch. What is the timing john . Is she going to announce in the next couple of weeks . I wouldnt be shocked if it was in a couple of weeks. You know look were in a surreal part of the cycle. Where everybody who is running for president is saying im not running for president yet. The surreality of Hillary Clinton in Atlantic City speaking to a bunch of happy campers literally is more of the odds of suspension of disbelief thats required when people build up their apparatuses. Particularly with the pressure on Hillary Clinton right now and every statement being parsed the way she is her pressure comes from the democrats, omalley and is the 1 . Its the republicans taking shots at her. And until she builds an apparatus, there will be a lot of unforced errors. The longer she takes, i think the bigger the risk is she could have a real primary fight. If im sitting around her camp today, theres no reason not to announce it soon. It showed with the email issue. She was not prepared with a team to respond in a way that you have to if you are actually running a campaign. I think that will push everything forward. Wish i had the numbers in front of me. We had a cnn poll that shows that every other candidate is minus nowhere going head to head with Hillary Clinton. Elizabeth warren is at 10. Biden 15. Omalley and web are 1 and Hillary Clinton is a colossus at 6. Its crazy. Ben, john thanks so much have a great weekend. Following a lot of news this morning, lets get to it. An audio claim from isis that they were indeed behind the attack. There will be more terrorism in europe and eventually will wash up on the shores of the United States. My message to you, the people of iran. Together we have to speak up for the future we seek. The white house, reassessing its relationship with israel. A different message coming from the Prime Minister of israel. Theres been no change in the Prime Ministers position at all. An africanamerican man found hanging from a tree in mississippi. If this was a racial hate crime, if this was suicide, we dont know. This is new day, with chris cuomo, Alisyn Camerota and michaela pereira. Well its friday people good morning and welcome to your new day. Our chris cuomo is off today. But john berman is here with us this morning. New this morning, the gunman that carried out the terrorist attack on the National Museum in tunisias capital, Officials Say the two attackers killed were trained at a jihadist camp in libya. Nine other suspects are in custody in connection with the Museum Massacre that left 23 people dead most of them western tourists. Isis and other extremists claiming responsibility for the slaughter. Lets get the latest from cnns phil black live in tunis. Phil . Alisyn it is the Tunisian Security minister who says the two gunmen were members of an existing jihadi cell who traveled across the border into neighboring libya, where they were trained before recently crossing back to carry out the attack. Now that particular scenario is a huge concern for tunisian authorities. Neighboring libya is increasingly fractured, increasingly lawless, isisaffiliated groups have str developed a strong foothold. Isis has claimed responsibility in an online audio recording for wednesdays attack. But crucially, that recording did not contain any evidence or detail suggesting the gunmen were in direct contact, communication or under the direct control of isis leadership in syria and iraq. Which has led to the suggestion that this could have been another isis franchise. Another Autonomous Group carrying out an attack, inspired by the name the goals, the message of isis itself. Meanwhile, behind me there are crowds in the center of tunis today. Marking this countrys Independence Day. Always a big deal. Usually a celebration. Today, it is hope that these crowds will be expressing a symbolic act of defiance against the people that they believe have attacked this countrys economy, political stability and so therefore, its very existence, alisyn, back to you. So important to show the symbolism today. New overnight, president obama reaching out directly to the iranian people this is in a new Youtube Video he urges them to pressure their leaders to accept a nuclear deal with the west. This as negotiations hit a snag and a deadline furiously approaches Senior International correspondent Nic Robertson is live in switzerland with more. What do we know, nic . Yeah good morning, alisyn. About an hour ago, secretary kerry went into his first meeting of the day with the Iranian Foreign minister zarif, he offered sincere condolences to the iranian negotiators on the death of iranian president row rouhanis mother. The president has left to go back to iran. Obviously that puts a slight question mark over where the talks go from here. But the talks are currently under way at the moment. President obamas message to the iranian people if you will going over the head of the politicians here trying to hammer out the deal telling people its time to make a choice an important choice for the iranians. Irans leaders have a choice between two paths. If they cannot agree do a reasonable deal they will keep iran on the path its on today. A path that is isolated iran and the iranian people from so much of the world. If irans leaders can agree to a reasonable deal it can lead to a better path. The path of greater opportunities for the iranian people. Well i asked the foreign minister the Iranian Foreign minister zarif this morning if theres enough time to make a deal before the deadline. This is what he said. Do you think a deal is possible by the 31st of march . I think a deal is possible any time. It depends on the political will whether there is a political will to reach one. Well that is significant, because earlier in the week he was talking more about the need to close the gaps and make up differences on technical issues but now putting the focus on the need for political compromise, is something that secretary kerry has said all along, that iran needs to make some tough key choices political choices. I also asked zarif what he thought about president obamas message. He said that he had tweeted his response of that already. And that goes along these lines here. In part it is high time for the United States and its allies he said high time for the United States and its allies to make a choice their choice to choose between pressure and agreement. Clearly pushing back against the secretary kerrys team here. Essentially saying youre putting too much pressure on us. If you want a deal back off. John . Nic robertson with incredible access to the officials at the center of the talks right now. President obama did call Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu to congratulate him on his election win. To let him know it comes with a big price. The president warned netanyahu that the u. S. Is reassessing its relationship with israel. Mainly because of the Prime Ministers vow to never allow statehood for the palestinians. Lets bring in cnn White House Correspondent michelle kosinski. Good morning, michelle. Not the warmest congratulations ever. Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu came here and most uncomfortably schooled the white house on how bad its negotiations with iran are. Well now it is the white houses turn. Very publicly blasting those two things that netanyahu said in the leadup to his election. First that there would never be a twostate solution to palestine while hes Prime Minister and that his supporters should try to counteract all the arabs heading to the polls. The president brought this up in the phone call yesterday. And the press secretary mentioned no fewer than 19 times, in his press briefing yesterday. That the u. S. Is now reevaluating its position moving forward. Even though netanyahu has since tried to walk back everything he said. Listen. Now, the Prime Minister of israel says earlier this week days before an election. That this is a principle that he no longer subscribes to and his nation no longer subscribes to. That means the United States needs to rethink our approach. That this that steps that this principle has been the foundation of a number of policy decisions that have been made here. And now that that foundation has been eroded it means that our policy decisions need to be reconsidered. I mean the white house is even spelled out that part of the reevaluation includes the u. S. Constantly backing up israel and standing up for it. In the u. N. But dont worry, the drama will continue here. In the next couple of weeks. House speaker john bain certificate going to travel to israel and meet with netanyahu. Back to you guys. Yes, the drama does continue it seems every day michelle thanks so much. For more on the iranian Nuclear Talks, and the strained relations between the u. S. And israel lets bring in retired u. S. Army colonel, lawrence wilkerson, the former chief of staff to secretary of state colin powell. Colonel, great to see you this morning. When we last had you on new day, two days ago, you were optimistic that we were going to see a deal a nuclear deal with iran. Where are you this morning . Im still about 60 40 on the positive side. I think there are a couple of issues not least of which is when sanctions will begin to be lifted that are Sticking Points. So we may not get a framework agreement, the formal agreement in the timeframe thats been specified, say end of march. We may get what is a political agreement, and then still have to work on some of the details. But i still think thats positive sign. Well thats interesting that youre optimistic. Because it feels today as though things have stalled. Because that sanction Sticking Point is a big one. Iran wants them lifted immediately. The u. S. Does not want to do that. They want them tapered out over time. So where do they go with that . I think theres still ground for compromise i think with the president s ability, given to him by the legislature, by the u. S. Congress to temporarily lift sanctions in key places and with the iranians ability to compromise somewhat on their side with regard to sanctions, i think theres still, i still have optimism that we can reach an agreement. Maybe not a final one by the end of march, but certainly a political agreement that will allow a final framework to be established. President obama is doing something interesting. In the past 24 hours he has addressed the iranian people directly. He put on a Youtube Video appealing to them to pressure their leaders. What do you think of that tactic . Im not sure i would have done it. But i have to admire it at least i think what is a subtle political move. Because it is clear that particularly the 45 and below, and thats the majority of the 70plus million iranians like america. Unlike most other people in the middle east when you poll iranians you dont find as in jordan where its less than 20 have a favorable view of us. You find huge percentages of people in the iran who have a favorable perception of us. So its a subtle political move if not a finger in the eye of the iranian government. But do young people in iran hold any sway with their leaders . Think they do. I think since 2009 in the socalled green revolution in particular the conservative mullahs even and the general government the parliament and so forth, do in fact have to take into consideration the views of the iranian people. I would say very very candidly that iran is probably the most democratic country in the Persian Gulf Region right now. My republican colleagues will boil their eyes at that but it is the most democratic country. Its a theocracy no question about it. But it is possessed of the democratic tendencies that far outweigh those of say bahrain or saudi arabia or even egypt. That is a fascinating perspective. Lets move on to israel. And Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu has seemed to issue some wildly conflicting statements in just this week about how he feels about the twostate solution. Which one do you believe is sincere . He supports it or he does not support it . Well i know the pressures of campaigning probably got to him and he had to track back the ultraright wing thats so important to him. But i think he revealed his true feelings. I think all one has to do is look at Prime Minister netanyahus actions over the past six, seven, eight years to know those were his true feelings. Im frankly happy that the president has reacted. I hope it doesnt go on tit for tat. Weve got to stop somewhere and get down to business. But im glad that the United States has at least said rhetorically that its going to quit being israels lawyer and instead become a fair equitable mediator in what is one of the most tenacious problems in that region the palestinian ral and ultimately arabisraeli. Where does this leave president obama . What should he do about this . I think were looking at a time not unlike when president reagan sold f15s to the saudis and spoiled the relationship significantly or the first gulf war when president george h. W. Bush did keep the israelis out of the war. I think were looking at a dime when the situation has to calm a bit. We have each reminded each other of the need to be diplomatic. In our dealings. And the need that israel has for us and viceversa. If this calms down and mr. Netanyahu tries to govern instead of just live on rhetoric with his right wing and president obama tries to do the same thing with respect to israel this could be healthy for the relationship. Okay. Always great to get your perspective. Its usually optimistic. Colonel larry wilkerson, thanks so much. Lets get over to john. We do have breaking news out of yemen. 16 people are reportedly dead after suicide bombers attacked two mosques in the capital of sanaa. Reuters says it happened during noon time prayers. The mosques are used primarily by supporters of the Shiite Houthi Group that forced the president from power. No claim of responsibility at this point. We bring you more details as theyre available. New information this morning about the gunmen that carried out the terrorist attack at tunisias National Museum killing 23 people. Most of them western tourists. Isis has claimed responsibility. However, theyve offered no proof that they are behind it. Authorities say the two attackers who were killed were recruited in mosques in tunisia and trained in libya. Who carried out the massacre . Here to weigh in senior fellow of defense of american democracies, daveed gartensteinross. And joseph in tunis, i want to get your sense, i see life continues behind you in tunis. What are you hearing from people on the streets . What are they saying . What is the feeling there . Life continues. You see behind me there are the tunisian flag this is tunisias 59th Independence Day. So people are a few meters away from there. There are hundreds of people demonstrating, celebrating tunisias Independence Day. Calling for tunisian unity against terrorism and frankly opposing any kind of terrorism that takes place in tunisia. There is some fear in the country, but there is resilience. There are people who are really willing to defend their country. Weve seen kids in the street. Weve seen men and women. The same day, people were spontaneously in the streets, demonstrating and shouting against terrorism. Against isis. Because we think most people think this san isis operation. And there is a will to stop this plague from invading the country. Were glad to see that show of support is coming from within the country. To his point, daveed lets talk about the claim that isis is saying yes, we take responsibility for it. Yesterday i know you were sort of on the fence a little bit. What are you hearing from your sources . What have you come to determine . Do you believe theyre behind it . I do believe that theyre likely behind it. The percentages tip favorably to them being behind the attack. They havent dpalsly claimed an attack. There are few irregularities that give rise to questions. One is that isis is well known for putting together statements that are produced quite well. For example, the atrocious statement they released in january where they beheaded 21 christians. It was produced very cinematically, there were a lot of shots that were artistic but for the subject matter. Here in contrast you have a very crude audio statement, it doesnt provide any real details about the attack. It only gives the battle names for the attackers, as opposed to their actual names. It doesnt provide an indication that they have any sort of inside detail. All of that created some question marks. It struck me as a possibility. Albeit a very low one that they could be preemptively claiming an attack that they didnt carry out, in order to gum up the works. But i think thats a very low probability. Its one of the things where we have to see what the investigation reveals both about why this was so crude in terms of the audio production and what role did the broader isis network in africa play in preparing these guys for the attack. Weve learned that the two men attended a mosque in tunisia and likely were radicalized there. Travelled to libya. Trained in a jihad i have camp. Im curious, youssef if youre hearing any more about the investigation. Nine people were arrested yesterday. Any further updates youre hearing about . Yes, nine people were arrested. Perhaps in relation to this operation. There are also some i think two tunisians that are from syria, that were arrested. You know since the war started in syria, many tunisians went to syria and many of them joined isis. Some of them returned to the country. And it seems that now there is a harsher measures will be taken against them. So they are being arrested from now i think two already arrested since wednesday. But the investigation is still ongoing. This is you know this is the first time that the tunisian authorities are facing Something Like this. But the point that was important to make here is that this museum was targeted tourists were targeted. There was a strategic goal to strike in the heart of the Economic Center if you will of tunisias economy. Is there a concern that tourists will not want to come to tunisia . Youssef . Thats a big problem, because tunisian economy relies a lot on tourism and yes, this attack targeted clearly tourism. Were standing by the ministry of tourism here. The Tourism Industry are very afraid of the consequences of this attack. And frankly, if there is shortages in tourism, the economy of the country will continue declining and that will bring a load of political insecurity concerns. So the main concern here is that tourism will be largely affected and already many tour operators are canceling their trips to tunisia. Its a widely shared fear here in the political sphere. The president of tunisia saying tourists need to know theyre still welcome. Theyre vowing to be in the fight against terror. Vowing to do whatever they can to bring these men to justice and people some sense of closure. Youssef and daveed we appreciate your expertise as always. Graco facing the largest penalty of its kind for not swiftly recalling six million defective child safety seats or disclosing quickly enough to government regulators. Why did they wait so long . Lets ask rene marsh who sat down with the head of the national highway Traffic Safety administration. What did you find out . This is all happening new this morning. And we know that this major car seat manufacturer graco, they just got hit with the largest penalty ever for a car seat maker. Were talking 10 million. Federal regulators say that graco, they knew about a defect that caused the buckle on certain car seats to get stuck in the latched position. Trapping kids in the seat. Of course thats problematic in the case of an emergency. Despite that the company waited months before recalling the more than four million seats. Heres the breakout 3 million will have to be paid to the federal government right away. And 7 million must go towards a Safety Campaign essentially educating parents. Ntsa says this is a recordbreaking find and its sending one message largest car seat recall and its the largest penalty for that sort of particular kind of defect. So yeah you follow the law and if not, were going to be there to make sure its enforced. So other thing that nhtsa wants parents to ham anywhere on is the fact that when the recalls come out, a lot of parents do not take the car seats in to get changed, to get repaired. They want to you log on to safer car. Gov, well is sr. It on our website it make sure youre not driving around with a defective car seat. Lets go inside politics on new day with john king. Good morning, john. Nice to see you, lets go inside politics on a busy day, our politics conversation will take us overseas, with me Margaret Talbot and Jackie Kucinich of the daily beast. Lets dissect the reaction to the netanyahu victory. When the white house put out a paper statement yesterday, they had the briefing. Then after the public briefing they said the president , would have loved to be there, mr. President , were dialing up netanyahu, get ready for this one. The statement said president obama spoke by telephone with Prime Minister netanyahu to congratulate the Prime Minister on his partys success in winning a plurality of knesset seats. You could say congratulate him on his victory or say dont let your head swell, buddy on your plurality. Whats at play two guys who dont like each other . Thats obviously true. But president obama is deeply offended by the way Prime Minister netanyahu has handled this. Beginning with netanyahus visit here and speech to congress and continuing on with the message and what he did in order to win the election. You have to remember that for president obama, whose political awakening as a young man came fighting against apartheid in south africa Prime Minister netanyahus approach in the days before the election has really put president obama in a box. Not only that remember when obama was running, he was all but campaigning for mitt romney. He really had, it was made a big deal about his relationship with mitt romney. And mitt romney was saying bibi and i are best friends. This goes back so far, the blood is so bad at this point. Thats one of the reasons, they really arent happy. The white house says theyre going to reassess. The netanyahu is going to put together a new government. The strategic relationship will continue that goes beyond the names, beyond the leaders at any given moment. It will be interesting to see as they reassess their relationship. Our first africanamerican president was furious that netanyahu closed with a Public Appeal to his base saying hey, the arabs are voting. What many his opponent described as a racist appeal on election day. Those voters are perfectly legal voters in the stale of israel. Nobody was cheating. So our africanamerican president is mad about that he sees it as racist and is troubled because Prime Minister netanyahu on the eve of the election says reelect me there will not be two states. Prime minister netanyahu after the election said i didnt quite mean that. I havent changed my policy. I never retracted my speech six six years ago calling to a demilitarized state that recognizes the jewish state. What changes is the reality. He said right before the election if you want to make sure theres no twostate solution reelect me. Now he said i havent changed anything. Are we supposed to applaud him for getting back to the place where he at least is open to the possibility of peace negotiations . Or are we suppose dodd say well we just cant trust anything he says . And president obama keeps at the u. N. Keeps fending off the efforts by the palestinians to try to make the twostate play at the u. N. By saying this has to be for the two sides to work out. Both sides have agreed there should be a twostate solution. So you know its difficult for Prime Minister netanyahu to walk this back especially since during that interview just before the election the interviewer said are you saying this is not going to happen on your watch . And he said yes, thats exactly what im saying. This is and the iran negotiations are sort of predicated on a lot of these premises. And just the entire strategy for how the u. S. Has aligned itself with israel is predicated on the notion that everyone is a goodfaith player in the idea of a twostate solution. Its hard for the president to this morning, the white house overnight released a video of the president talking to the people of iran young people, saying please pressure your government coming to the table. Its almost inconceivable to see the president striking the deal with iran without at least an understanding of the Prime Minister of israel no matter who it is. This will be fascinating going forward. Republicans see an opening here. One of the things the president was mad about, was just three weeks ago, behind me the capital lawn when Prime Minister netanyahu came stood in the well of the house of representatives and told the congress and the American People your president s wrong, dont trust him in the iran negotiations. Republicans see the victory by netanyahu as proof that they should continue to sort of be aggressive in Foreign Policy. Speaker john bain sber to make a trip to israel. No surprise hes the one who invited Prime Minister netanyahu to speak. Hes going to meet with israeli officials in jerusalem. Now american president s dont meet the Prime Minister of israel in jerusalem. Thats part of the twostate solution. Thats part of the negotiations between the israelis and those palestinians they have those meetings in tel aviv normally. Thats part of it as well. A number of the 2016 republicans criticized the president , when the white house said it will t would reassess the relationship. A lot of republicans were critical of that, including marco rubio. This is an historic and tragic mistake. Israel is not a republican or democratic issue, if this was a republican president doing these things, i would give the exact same speech. In fact i would be even angrier. This is outrageous it is irresponsible, it is dangerous. And it betrays the commitment this nation has made to the right of a jewish state to exist in peace. Just without a doubt, the exclamation point is this is going to continue throughout the next few months the next couple of weeks, the sensitive negotiations and throughout the 2016 campaign. But marco rubio has been trying to stake out this very tough Foreign Policy very hawkish Foreign Policy. This is very much a part of that. I would watch and see who is fundraising off of this. I think thats next. That will be part of it as well. Unfortunately. Welcome to the inevitabilities of american politics somebody will fundraise off of this. Hillary clinton will be in a box about this and will pressured to see, there will be interest to see if she moves away from president obama on the issue of israeli relations, going forward. We gave her last paid speech yesterday before she becomes an official candidate. Go online this morning, there are a number of more additional reports about the Clinton Foundation an its accepting money from foreign sources shes going to have do deal with. You might take this implicit criticism on president obama. You dont build relationships with people and all you do is show up to argue. Or show up to you know point fingers. You cant get anything done. For my perspective, you cant do enough of the relationshipbuilding. So you could say shes criticizing the Republican Congress we could also say especially on the relationship part that shes criticizing her former boss. Youre just back from new hampshire. Is any of this stuff playing out there . Well what we found was playing in new hampshire, we did a couple of focus groups this week. Is that even the democrats who believe shes the inevitable nominee and support her and like her, are really really unhappy with her handling of the email situation. And the whole notion of sort of transparency and addressing controversies fully headon rather than just sort of making them go away. It appears, its like not scientific its talking to a handful of people. But you get the emotional threads of how people are feeling. Which is the notion that as the race is taking shape on both sides, theyre trying to have gut feelings about candidates. And they want her to be a little bit different. So as she turns this page thats what she has to address . Be more human, be more out there. Go talk to voters. And she was a lot more relaxed in the speech, much more in her environment, it was a controlled environment, in front of people that were cheering it like every single word and laughing at her jokes. The other thing about the speech is she was waxing poetic about the gingrich years, which was you know is what it is. The good old days. Sarcasm. Jackie and margaret. Thanks. Available on any device. No time throughout the encounter did martese present as has been reported by some in the media, a fake i. D. Nevertheless, virginia abc officers who were present on the scene questioned my client about being in possession of false identification. The conversation resulted in my client being thrown to the ground his head hitting the pavement the officers knees pressed into his back his face and skull bleeding and needing surgery. That was an attorney for Martese Johnson, the university of virginia student whose violent confrontation with alcohol control agents was caught on video. We call it a violent confrontation. Its not much of a confrontation, its a onesided pounding there. But thats just what we see. Leading to the question of was it a use of Excessive Force. Lets bring in mo ivory. Attorney and radio host and mel robbins, cnn commentator and legal analyst. Mel, thats just what we see, we see police with this guy, holding him down on the ground his forehead bloody. What are your questions about what happened before that . Hes been arrested, for public intoxication and obstruction of justice. What would have had to have happened before this video to justify what youre looking at right now . Well i mean first what you just asked kind of a loaded question john. Which is to justify that kind of thing. When i see somebody with those kinds of injuries and needing surgery and multiple stitches to the head over those kinds of misdemeanor charges, to me thats Excessive Force. But what would justify it because youve asked the question, is if he put up a fight. If he got belligerent. If he got abusive. But there is no evidence of that. But ive got other questions, john. I mean were talking about st. Patricks day, were talking about a college campus. I know that people are very concerned about racism. And the profiling of young black men in this country is a major problem. But what nobody is talking about is the dynamic in a college town. Particularly an elite college like uva. Uva has got a dynamic like most colleges where youve got the kids that go to school and the perception by the people that work in the town that theyre a bunch of elite kids. That think theyre better than anybody else. And i think that thats something that was going on. You also have the fact that we had Hannah Graham go missing and then murdered. That was at uva. And that involved alcohol. In terms of what was going on that night. And so im sure theres also been a crackdown by the campus and by the town in terms of policing underage drinking and latenight drinking. This wasnt the town, and this wasnt the campus this was the alcoholic Beverage Control officials here. Cops who make sure kids dont drink underage mo. I want to read awe statement from the Virginia State police about this incident. A Different Agency they say, we owe it to both mr. Johnson and the virginia abc, the alcoholic Beverage Control to be painstakingly thorough in determining the facts of the situation through interviews evidence collection and analysis and investigative procedure. Look the Virginia State police have raised questions. Said theyre looking into this. Local police have. The university has. The State Government has, there seems to be an Immediate Reaction from everyone but the abc, that this is necessarily to look into this. Do you think it will be a fair investigation, mo . I think theyre taking multiple steps to make sure they do the right thing. Any time you see a child, well you know a college student, hurt like that on the ground excessively bleeding theres got to be a thorough investigation. I just want to say that im not really sure that i follow sort of mels thinking on that they approached this kid, thinking that he was an overprivileged elitist kid who goes to uva. I just do not believe at all that that is what the police were thinking about this young man. We do not know what happened before. Which is correct. So we dont know if he was sort of being aggressive but from everything that the people around have said it doesnt seem that that was the case. And even when you hear him begging on the ground why this is happening, why are you doing this . It doesnt seem that there was a reaction of like okay i need to calm myself down. More of a, i cant believe theyre doing this to me. Why are they doing this to me. To me it doesnt matter if it was st. Patricks day or any other day, it does seem like Excessive Force. He was charged with obstruction of Justice Without force. And im not a lawyer like you are, mel, that seems to me to indicate he wasnt physically fighting. Youre being mouthy and annoying the officers. Im not clear, ive been try doing dig into the jurisdiction that these abc cops have. Are they working under the arm of the state police or working as a private Security Force for the government. Theyre people who monitor bars first of all, they regulate sales of alcohol around the state. But they have policing capacity to make sure kids arent drinking under age at bars in Charlottesville University of virginia is one of the main areas where you have kids underage drinking. This boy says he was not using a fake i. D. But it does seem he was trying to get into a bar and he was only 20. So technically, he was at least trying to break some law. Right and youre not going to get, well actually in some i know plenty of College Students and in particular i have a story im not going to tell it on national tv to embarrass somebody but i know several kids that have been arrested and kicked out of universities just this year losing full tuition for the semester because they were caught trying to get into bars or trying to use a fake i. D. Now hes not alleged to have a fake i. D. But i do think that the interchange matters. If he goes up and hes got an i. D. That was issued a couple of years ago and his mother has since moved and youre a bouncer at a bar, use common sense. What are you going to do if youre in a college town if its st. Patricks day, and your job is do make sure that no kid under 21 gets in here youre going to ask questions. Go ahead. Its not a situation that they dont deal with probably every single weekend. As do the abc officers. So i dont think that you know the oh my god, this is a new case a 20yearold trying to get into a bar. This is something that theyre used to all the time. That doesnt seem to me to warrant the kind of Excessive Force that they used. Its a kid, on st. Patricks day, trying to get into a bar. To have a beer. Hes one year shy of the drinking age. Officer doesnt know how to handle that without gashing his head open on the ground . It seems excessive. They also say he wasnt drunk. Martese johnson says he wasnt drunk. Probably was drinking but not officially drunk. Trying to get into the bar there. Does that justify the pounding that he seemed to be taking there, the stitches . No. Thanks so much for being here. We were checking our brackets march madness is living up to its billing on opening day of the ncaa tournament. Madness reigned, huge bracket busters, five games decided by just a single point. Spring weather . Look at whats going on in washington d. C. On the first day of spring. Wow, somebody did not get that memo. Good morning, everybody. Welcome back to your new day. Friday march 20th 8 00 in the east. John berman is with us. New information about the two gunmen killed while carrying out the terror attack on the National Museum in tunis. They were activated by sleeper cells and trained at a jihadist camp in libya. Nine other suspects in custody. 23 people were killed in that museum attack. Many western tourists. Isis is claiming responsibility for the slaughter. Phil black begins our coverage. Hes live in tunis. Phil. Reporter michaela they have said the two men were members of a jihadi cell. They were trained before crossing back to carry out the attack. Its a concern because libya is a country where isis affiliated groups have developed a strong foothold. This as isis claims responsibility for the attack with an audio recording that also carries an ominous warning. This is just the start says isis in an unverified message. The brutal militant group claiming responsibility for the deadliest attack on tourists in the middle east in over a decade. Isis claiming the attack targeted crusaders and apostics. When gunmen opened fire inside a museum in tunisias capital tuesday, the gunmen killing 23 people injuring dozens more Many International visitors. This is the latest example of extremist terror and we have to fight it with everything we have. Reporter nine people have already been arrested according to tunisian authorities, four directly linked to the attacks. The Prime Minister identified two suspects by name saying on french Radio Station, rtl, one had been known to security services. The two gunmen killed, recruited at a tunisian mosque and trained at a jihadist camp in libya. According to tunisian official who spoke to reuters. Those attackers were carrying terrible explosives. Tunisias president told the french broadcaster tfi, the Security Forces worked quickly killing them before detonation. President obama called him thursday offering continued u. S. Support in the investigation. Youre going to see the low level attacks but high impact attacks. This will not be long before this comes to the United States because it is so easy for isis, al qaeda, any other of these groups to do. Reporter crowds marking tunisias Independence Day are gathering in the center of tunis. Always a big event for this country but many hope this year the rallies will be a symbolic gesture of defiance against those threatening this countrys very existence. Lets bring in mabrouka mabrouka mbarak. She is joining us and Michael Weise is a foreign columnist. Great to have you both in the studio. Lets talk about the breaking news this morning. We just heard phil black talk about. Tunisia believes that two of the attackers were trained in libya and just yesterday libyas army chief seemed to issue a cry for help. He said this isis will spread in even the European Countries if the west doesnt offer real help to the libyan people especially the libyan army. We want weapons and ammunition only. We have the men. The army is increasing in number every day. I believe by the army he means what isis in libya. He puts that number at now between 7,000 and 7500 in libya. Is the answer giving more money to the libyan army . Its a good question actually because i consider libya to be im teetering on the brink of failed state hood. The question is if you give it to the army does isis if they overtake Army Check Points raid these weapons depots are they able to confiscate the weaponry. We intervened in libya and we got out and then the country collapsed. Recently you had the United Arab Emirates emirates they bombed targets. Isis is thriving in this vacuum in this chaos. The number that the general gave 7,000 isis members, lets put it this way, the city of mosul, iraqs second most popular city is held by 2,000 isis militants. If thats the estimate that the u. S. Has given. 7,000 in libya means that this is going to spread like a cancer through north africa. So troubling. I want to talk to you about tunisia. It was no accident that terrorists picked tunisia. That was seen as a bright light, as some budding democracy. A mecca for tourism. How can this do anything but hurt that economy and tourism there now . Absolutely. And first of all, i want to say really my heart goes with all the people the guests of our country who lost their lives. It is very terrible what is happening. We expected these attacks because we received many threats. This attack is not only on tunisian people and tunisia, its really on the region and the hope that this revolution will yield successes. Of course this tragedy will have consequence on the economy, but lets put the economy on the side. You know i heard some mps talking about the tourist season. I think thats not the priority right now. We really need to think about the situation. In all these crisis tunisia had been resilient. Thats kind of the good thing. So were seeing more unity and we really hope now more than ever they will be united nationally and regionally to not let terrorism stop the transition which has been so far very successful. As you know tunisia has held two election free and transparent. Has the most liberal constitution in the arab world. Of course, it was targeted for its success. In fact today they are having a unity rally in tunis to show that they will not be coward by all of this. There were 12 passengers from one cruise ship that were killed in the museum in this attack. Just yesterday two cruise ships, big cruise lines, suspended their operations in and out of the port of tunis indefinitely. In fact one of the heads of one of the cruise ships puts out this statement. Sadly, the murderous actions behind this deadly attack will have far reaching and profoundly damaging effects on democratic tunisia and its fault terg economy. Tunisia can little afford to be considered a no go zone but regrettably this is how tourists will see it. What is the future of tunisia . To attack the west you dont have to do it in the west. This is the point. They hit a popular tourist target. They killed over 20 people many from western European Countries, japanese tourists. This is the goal to strike fear into the hearts of everyone and tell people that we can get you anywhere. In terms of what its going to do to tunisias tourist industry would isis love to bring that economy down would it love to bring tunisia to a state of collapse like in other parts of the middle east and north africa . Of course. Because that chaos and vacuum would allow isis to proliferate. You put out a tweet after the attack and you used the hashtag that has sort of taken hold iwillcometotunisia. Whats the message you want to send . I was pointing out a campaign. I dont knee who started it. That was incredible. People all around the world were showing support saying were not afraid we will help you. Mostly dias spore ra. I will come back to tunisia to help the economy. That was a great solidarity. I just wanted to point out in this whole crisis and the fact that tunisia is resilient, some of the political contexts is really important for the viewer to understand. Tunisia has been under attacks since the revolution. The big test today is how the new people who are coming after the revolution can work with the old people the old regime horseback to Work Together on a common fight. So this is a big test and, again, we have to make sure we dont, you know use this the old technique, and we have to make sure we guarantee human rights at the same time. So thats a fine balance thats going to be very challenging ahead of us. Such a challenge. Than explaining it to us. We appreciate it. Lets head over to michaela. Alisyn new overnight. President obama reaching out to the iranian people in a new Youtube Video urging them to pressure their leaders to accept an agreement in the west. Nic robertson is live in switzerland with more nic. Reporter good morning, michaela. Theres been reaction here already to what president obama said really what has been said to the iranians is you have a choice. Its a tough choice but you need to do that to get this negotiated deal. This is what he told the iranian people. Irans leaders have a choice between two paths. If they cannot agree to a reasonable deal they will keep iran on the path its on today, a path has isolated iran and the iranian people from so much of the world. If irans leaders can agree to a reasonable deal, it can lead to a better path the path of greater opportunities for the iranian people. Reporter now i asked the Iranian Foreign minister here mr. Zarif this morning what he thought about president obamas message. He told me that he had already decided what his response was and that hed put that out in a tweet and he said as part of that tweet he said it is high time that the United States and its allies choose between pressure or agreement, a clear push back against president obamas message and against the negotiating team here with secretary kerry clearly saying youre putting too much pressure on us. If you want an agreement, back off. There have been other interesting developments here today. Two very short meetings this morning between secretary kerry and some of the iranian delegation offering not only a message for the new year of goodwill good wishes to the iranian team but also sympathy for the iranian president whose mother has died which has meant that the iranian president s brother, whos part of the negotiating team has already left for tehran. This opens the door to the possibility that more members of the iranian team may need to follow suit and go back to tehran. It is a big obviously a big thing thats happened in iran the death of the president s mother. So how that affects the talks, well for the first time in the last couple of minutes weve seen secretary kerry leave the hotel, not for a bike ride but to go and have lunch off campus if you will. It seems to show that the meetings short. Secretary kerrys got a little time on his hands right here now. John. Nic, thanks so much. It took two days but he finally did it. President obama called Benjamin Netanyahu to congratulate him on his reelection in israel. What happened next an indication that u. S. israeli relations really at rock bottom. The president warned the Prime Minister that the u. S. Is reassessing its relationship with one of its strongest allies. Covering every angle of this lets bring in cnn White House Correspondent michelle kaczynski. Reporter it gets worse by the day. Its been pretty stunning to hear this level of criticism from the white house of those things that Prime MinisterBenjamin Netanyahu said in the lead up to his reelection, which were equally jaw dropping that there would never be a two state solution with palestine while hes Prime Minister. Urging his supporters to go out and try to counter act all the arabs heading to the polls. The white house has called that cynical, divisive saying that it erodes the shared values between the u. S. And israel. And even though netanyahu now has been trying to walk back virtually everything he said saying oh, no no no, i didnt mean it that way. The president raised these issues in the phone call. The press secretary mentioned no fewer than 19 times in the same briefing that the u. S. Is now reevaluating its position. Now the Prime Minister of israel says earlier this week days before an election that this is a principle that he no longer subscribes to and that his nation no longer subscribes to. That means the United States needs to rethink our approach that this that steps that that this principle has been the foundation of a number of policy decisions that have been made here and now that that foundation has been eroded it means that our policy decisions need to be reconsidered. And the white house has made it very clear that part of that reconsideration is the way that the u. S. Repeatedly in a big way stands up for israel at the u. N. Back to you guys. Okay, michelle. Thanks so much for that. We do have an update now on our breaking news out of yemen. Several suicide bombers attacked two mosques in the capital of sanaa. Nearly 100 people injured. Those mosques used by the shia houthi group. The prominent cleric is hurt. A standoff over Loretta Lynch lynchs nomination is heating up. Athena jones has the latest on the Exchange Live from washington. Athena athena. Reporter its getting more heated by the day. Loretta lynch has been waiting to get confirmed for longer than all five previous attorney generals combined. Its the longest delay, i should say, in three decades. Now the Number Two Senate democrat dick durbin has said republicans are asking lynch to sit in the back of the bus when it comes to the senate calendar. Republican senator john mccain was furious about those comments calling them inflammatory and demanding an apology, which he did not get. Now more House Democrats are piling on. Listen to what we heard yesterday from congresswoman coren brown and Sheila Jackson lee. If it looked like a duck walked like a duck and quacked like a duck its a duck. And it is clear to me that there is hidden racism rampant in the house and the senate. One of the issues of the question of race or racism in the United States is being discounted being silenced. The category that they have ms. Lynch in now is where she is silenced. Reporter so very strong words were hearing from democrats. Michaela the way were seeing things lynch may not get a vote from april. Athena from that story to this story. I dont mean to segue in such a brutal fashion. I want to tell you about whats happening in austin, texas. The mayor expressing outrage over these stickers. You can see them. Theyre being posted on local businesses, six local businesses. They say exclusively for white people. The stickers also contain the citys logo. It gives off the impression that theyre official. The mayor said theyre not produced and knowingly placed by the businesses and is calling this an appalling display of ignorance. An investigation obviously is underway to find out whos behind this sticker and the prank but it has certainly gotten people riled and upset in austin texas, beyond. When you first see it it looks like one of those and then you read it and you do a double take and the mayor has had to issue that strong warning and talk about an investigation. All right. Meanwhile, how will Benjamin Netanyahus shifting position on a twostate solution change u. S. israeli relations . Where does the relationship go from here . We have to turn to Michael Smer Connick smerconish. Remember what we saw leading up to the elections and all of the bold statements from this Prime Minister trying to get reelected. He gets reelected. After making some bold statements. After making some bold statements. I want to read you this. This was recently in the last 24 hours. This is what he said in an interview, america has no greater ally than israel and israel has no greater ally than the United States. Well Work Together. We have to. Is the white house on board with this . Has he cleared that with them . I think the words no longer matter. I think given what he said in anticipation of the election in the final 48 hours, that people are no longer accepting at face value whatever Prime Minister netanyahu may say about a twostate solution. Of course now hes walked back that which he said on the eve of the election. My observation is to say its one thing to talk about him hes a politician what did he mean what didnt he mean . How about the fact that the strategy worked . How about the fact that when he backed away from a twostate solution he was successful in an election where he was an underdog . I think thats a troublesome sign with regard to where israeli voters stand on the peace question if it involves a twostate solution. What do you think that means for american politicians though . Look there was a vote in the house where the twostate solution had unanimous support, right . Right. Now you have this leader. You cant unsay it to a certain extent when you say youre no longer in favor of a twostate solution. What do american politicians have to do . I think there will be more debate. I think we will no longer be so monolithic in our support for israel. You point out that there was a unanimous vote on the twostate solution. Im mindful that he was last summer when the events were taking place with regard to gaza all the rockets being launched in israel and when funding for the iron dome came up my recollection is it was unanimous in the senate and nearly unanimous in the house. Perhaps those days of unanimity will be over. There will be more debate stepping out of politicians to be critical of israel in a way that they werent previously. Im interested in seeing what secretary clinton has to say. Shes been silent thus far. When your president says hes going to reassess the u. S. Relationship with israel those words would be unthinkable a decade ago. They would have been. Not almost. I think they would have absolutely been unthinkable. I look at debate fostered by an organization such as jpac which is on the cusp where the conversation used to be completely monopolized by aipac. I think j street will see this as an opportunity and there will be debate taking place where theyre having a conference. Its strange hearing you say the unanimity of congress will be going away. Its the only issue. The idea that now this would plead is really stunning. There also appears to be this allegiance between john boehner and Benjamin Netanyahu. Boehner has announced that he is going to israel within the next two weeks after Benjamin Netanyahu accepted his controversial invitation to come here. Maybe the alignment is shifting whereby some republicans in congress wouldnt support a twostate solution. Oh, i definitely think that republicans, allow me to be a cynic for just a moment i think they see opportunity in this. We could say ideologically they line up with president Benjamin Netanyahu, and this is on the merits the gop sees opportunity and Jewish Voters see this being up for grabs in a way that they have not previously. So interesting. Overall while you were talking about all of that each of these countries dealing with all of these struggles whether its iran israel United States you have these domestic battles, domestic politics and how theyre playing into the geopolitical struggles and interactions. Its profound. Michaela more to come on the horizon. Its not as if the situation is static and what will now happen . Remember the iranian negotiations are now, were led to believe, are in the 11th hour. Right. Whatever the net effect of those negotiations are will determine what netanyahu does and what we do in return. Remember at the end of that speech that he made to the congress he made very clear his willingness to go it alone and he said that the days of israeli passivity are over. Does that mean if he doesnt get a deal hes looking for that there could be a first strike . Were going to find that out. Chief Business Correspondent, Christine Romans is here. I went down to the port of miami to have an interview with jack liu. Hes very encouraged by the companies who have been raising their minimum wages. We heard from target walmart, gap did it. States and localities are doing it. This is what he said about wages. I think that ultimately employers want to retain good workers. They want to recruit good workers. I talk to ceos. They tell me what theyre waiting for is that confidence in the future. I take it as a good sign when Companies Start doing that. It means that they have the confidence to make those kinds of decisions. Also makes the case that raising the minimum wage will lead to a stronger economy. He says a stronger economy is why they do it in the first place. They need to keep their good workers. When those workers have the money in their pocket, they spend it immediately. Theres a conventional wisdom. They dont want to hire minimum wage because they say it leads to job loss. He rejects that conventional wisdom. He says raising the wages is a good thing for american workers, a good thing for the economy. Okay. You, christine are the face of cnn money. Nervous High School Seniors rushing home or rushing to their computers to find the large envelopes or the large email from their dream colleges but the pressure of getting into a Top Ranked School and the hysteria over college admission, is it really worth it . According to New York Times columnist frank brun the answer is flat out no. Frank is the author of where you go is not who youll be an anecdote to the College Admissions media. Nice to see you. Nice to see you. This is a terrific book first of all. Thank you. It reads to me like a love letter to parents and kids who are getting those admissions decisions this week essentially telling them its all going to be okay. Yeah. Its essentially telling them this is one juncture in a long life. We are sending kids and parents that these few days in late march and early april is going to set the whole trajectory of life and its not true. Certain colleges can be great advantages but its not make or break, be all and end all. Much more important is to tell you how youll use your College Years wherever you are. There are suggestions that its doing a great disservice yes. To these kids and our society. I think its doing an enormous disservice. Were a status conscious society. Also if you go to school thinking its all about where you got in if you go to one of the most selective schools and you think once youve walked in the door your work is done thats a problem because youre supposed to really be learning and growing and cultivating yourself during those years, not just wearing a sweatshirt that youre proud of. Throw out the admissions statistics here for a second. In some cases its way harder to get into the top schools. Were almost in negative integers. 5 getting into harvard, stanford and yale which is half of what it was ten years ago. You have a quote here from a University Official talking about the u. S. News and world report colleges rankings. Yes. It says u. S. News and world report will go down as one of the most destructive things that ever happened to higher education. Of course they rank the top schools in the country. Im wondering, is it u. S. News whos the big villain . Is it the parents or kids itself . Its all of us working together in a vicious cycle. U. S. News is a problem because it sentds the notion that you can actually measure a colleges worth and that there are colleges objectively better than others when there are colleges that are right for you and colleges that are less right for you. We all buy into it. We outsource our judgment to u. S. News other colleges that do the rankings. I went to harvard. Its not like i have a big h tattoo. Im proud of the fact that i went there. There is suggestion in your book occasionally that sometimes that going to harvard or yale if you have the chance to do that that its not always the best choice for you. For some kids it isnt because the amount of competition, the amount of elbowing for prominence there, it doesnt really kind of allow them to flourish. Some kids rest on their laurels so to speak. You mentioned you went to harvard. Ive known you for a decade. I know youre sitting here at this network because you have worked your tail off. Your a a transcendently good guy. Going to harvard was a reflection of your talents. Going to harvard did not put you in that chair, you put yourself in that chair. How do you get through to kids . You taught at princeton. The kids you were talking to were not getting the message. Which kids the ones at princeton . Yeah. I had some wonderful kids at princeton and i had some who i worried felt their work was done when they got in the door. We need not to be pumping kids and parents full of unnecessary anxiety, telling them this is the make or break moment when its one moment in a long life and we have to be talking to kids about using college in the right way. Can i ask you one question about fraternities . Weve seen what happened at the university of oklahoma penn state. You have a lot to say about whats wrong with the University System and you have issues with the greek system. Thats a larger issue with college life. We shouldnt be segregating into communities where people think like you do. We should be using it to prepare for the diverse world. And you think people retreat into those corners and it just magnifies whatever image they have of themselves . Theres a tribal human instinct. We tend to go into tribes when allowed to. The future of america is about managing a diverse country and being fluent in it. I wish colleges would get into it. You have Great Stories about successful people top people who didnt go to the big schools. If you had to say one thing to kids now who are in the midst of all of this what would it be . Pause before you begin college wherever youre beginning college. Survey that landscape and say how am i going to till this particular landscape for everything its worth. Frank bruni, university of North Carolina who beat harvard. Congratulations for that. Thank you. John heres another interesting story about school. There are eight states in the u. S. Cnns new series finding jesus tries to answer a controversial question did jesus have any brothers and sisters. Take a look. Its claimed that this box measuring 10 inches by 20 is no less than the burial casket of james, the brother of jesus christ. Here to shed light on that discovery is cnn religious commentator father edward beck. Father great to see you. Nice to see you. Thank you. Did jesus have a brother . Its quite possible that he did, we just dont know what kind of brother. In the catholic tradition its believed that mary was a perpetual virgin but did joseph have children before he got together with mary . Its possible. He was older. Maybe they were half siblings. We dont know really from the texts. And also is it possible that they were using brother not literally but is there some word that means relatives or cousins . I dont want to get too technical, but in the new testament the greek word is adelphus. That can mean blood brother or it can mean kinfolk or it can mean cousin. So you see, when they talk about jesuss brothers and sisters, it may not be blood brother in the way we think about it. But if it is a blood brother in the way we think about it does that change everything . It doesnt change everything in that a lot of protestant denominations think mary could have had other children after jesus. They say she was a virgin up to the birth after jesus, but after that why not have a normal relationship with joseph. Others believe he did have brothers and sisters. What do you believe . You want to put me on the spot. Only because im fascinated by this. I do believe its possible. I believe in the perpetual virginity of mary. It doesnt bother me to think he may have had actual blood siblings. It seems to me it makes him more normal and the family more normal. I think in the early church virginity was extolled so you you want the mother of god to be perpetually virgin. The whole sex stuff was suspect. In that way that played into keeping mary pure. That makes perfect sense. Mary is on a pedestal. She is unsullied. She will always be there. It does strain credulity that in that day and age that he wouldnt have any siblings and it that mary would be, as you say, a socalled perpetual virgin. This is the son of god which is what we believe. Why wouldnt it be different for the son of god. Why wouldnt joseph have respect to that and be stepfather of this child. Thats it. I will take care of them. Its quite possible. So lets talk about the if there is sort of historical evidence of jesuss existence. That is a burial box that we just saw that inscription on and it says james son of joseph brother of jesus. Right. Now heres the thing. There were other jamess josephs, and jesuss so it may not be necessarily this family. Also, theres some debate about the inscription, that perhaps the last part, brother of jesus, was a later edition. So some experts have tested it and said you know what this doesnt look like the same kind of printing as the first part so is it a forgery . If you watch the special, its a fascinating special, you should watch it on sunday they raise this whole issue that maybe this is a forgery or maybe its not. You dont get a complete answer. Lets talk about that other historical evidence. Is there i mean to your mind is there concrete tangible physical evidence of jesuss existence . Physical evidence i would say no. Theres certainly historical evidence. We have josephus writing about jesus and the crucifixion. Physical evidence no. The first of this series was about the shroud of tourin. That too, is in doubt. So much of this its hard to sort of bust myths when theres so much question about the authenticity of these things that seem tangible. The shroud is in doubt. They never tested the part where the image is. That piece of the cloth may date back. The out of periphery, maybe not. We have the questions, maybe, maybe not. Sorry i cant be more concise and clear. When you come back i want a definite answer. Ill do my best. Thats so great. Father beck, great to see you. Thanks so much for coming on new day thank you. To talk about these intriguing topics. You can watch finding jesus sunday at 9 00 p. M. Only on cnn. One thing we know that is clear is kindness is infectious.
