Next to me has the siding ripped off, the chimney tossed on the lawn here and as you make your way across the street, weve seen so many homes just like this that had their roofs completely torn off. And i want you to take a look at some video that had the hardest hit areas. The city leaders are calling it a catastrophe. 450 homes damages, 100 homes considered a total loss but nobody in this neighborhood was killed. Thank god is all you can say. Theres no other way to put it. Its the grace of god. I dont care who you are, what you believe, what faith you believe, its the grace of god. Residents also giving a lot of credit to the sirens in the area as this tornado ripped through this area with winds of 170 and 180 miles per hour. Now, like i mentioned, no fatalities here but in nearby garland, eight People Killed when their cars were tossed off of an overpass in this tornado. One woman was a mother of four and she was on the phone with her husband when the tornado hit. She started screaming. And the call disconnected. And i tried to call her back, i tried to call her back, and i couldnt. I just felt like something inside of me died, you know . Like something a part of me died. Just a gutwrenching loss, neil. 11 People Killed here in north texas this past saturday. Neil thank you very much, right now on the phone with me former fema director, in these circumstances you always step back and realize whatever people were complaining about during the holidays, i think they put it in perspective after events like these. But it comes at a time when fema is urgently in need with more money the president advocating about a billion dollars more for the fema budget, is female is ready for what some are saying could be a serious amount of storms that will require a lot of money . Well, understood, neil, and youre right on target. But theres what happens generally in these disaster particularly like this thats so devastating, and you saw the damage you just showed on your show just its just awful. But congress always reallocating money back into fema, should they start should the Disaster Relief fund start getting low. It has happened time and time again, but i have no doubt at all that fema will have the funds to make sure the people who need help will get it. People need to step back and, you know, take a deep breath and i know its been devastating. But we get more injuries generally after the storm than we do during the storm. People are tired, they get chainsaws and generators and people get hurt. So they need to be careful. Take pictures before you move anything. Call your Insurance Company and get registered with fema. Fema will have people on the ground to help you register, you can do it online, you can do it on the phone. So they can help you with those under certain losses. But the money will be there. Should fema need to replenish the Disaster Relief fund. Neil one thing unexpected developments after a storm, flooding comes to mind. Nearly after of the victims drown, including five soldiers in missouri alone. What precautions do you need to take in that event when its the storm after the storm that hits you . Yeah, most of the time we see people trying to drive through moving water. And cars cant handle that. They just simply get washed away and people drown or get stranded. They need to listen to the weather reports if they say theres going to be flash flooding, you know, stay in your home, go to higher ground. But dont go out in the moving water. And we do see it time and time again, neil, where people just arent thinking clearly. Theres a lot of stuff going on, theyre trying to get things done, and they just need to stay off the road and stay home. Neil you know, one of the things we learned certainly in the dallas area these horns and sirens did give people adequate warning of the storms to come. Very severe tornado that was en route. Do you find in the communities that have such warnings that that damage is at least limited beyond what it could have been . It was obviously devastating and the loss of life, 11 in that area horrific. But it could have been a lot worse without it. Absolutely. Absolutely. It doesnt really what it does is protect peoples lives where they have time to seek shelter in a basement or in a shelter area or some place where its safe. Now, you saw some of the homes just totally devastated and unless you had a basement, theres not a lot you could have done for that. Now, im a Firm Believer in these Severe Weather storms, it gives people an opportunity to seek safe shelter. Neil it does indeed. David, thank you very, very much. Janet steam on what this area can look forward to now because once hit, theyre about to get hit again, arent they . Unfortunately, the Severe Threat continues, neil, for parts of the gulf coast. We have tornado watch in parts of alabama, the Florida Panhandle in towards georgia as these storms continue to move eastward. We have watches in effect right now, meaning the conditions are favorable for tornadoes and several tornadoworn storms now for the Florida Panhandle up into alabama. So were tries to go strong notation on doppler radar, listen to your local forecast and know what to do if you have a warning in your area. This storm really has been on going for a week now. Bringing blizzard conditions, ice, as well as the threat for Severe Weather. So as we get into the evening hours, again, this area shaded in yellow for Florida Panhandle and up towards alabama and tennessee, you need to be on alert for severe storms. Your flood advisories. This is something he need to talk about over a dozen states now flash flood watches and warnings. This area is saturated, meaning no water can get into the lakes or streams or ground. It is run off and therefore we have flash flooding occurring around the st. Louis area, high water rescues are taking place. The winter storm part of this anywhere from 12 inches to 18 inches of snow, and we saw historic snow across portions of west texas into new mexico. Winter storm warnings for the central u. S. As well as now parts of the northeast because thats where the storm is moving next. You could see anywhere from six to 12 even 18 inches of snow if you live across the upper midwest and the great lakes and then as it kneads new england and in some cases your first snowfall of the season. Your ice. I want to touch on the fact that you get freezing rain in toward michigan are where you could see a quarter of an inch to half of an inch of ice, you cannot travel so people are urged to stay alert of your local weather watches and warnings and of course call ahead. A lot of flights have been canceled today. Over 1,000. So thats going to be on going as we head into tuesday. Lets take a look at your future radar, neil. The low in the upper midwest there, there is the trailing cold front so the potential cold weather as it moves eastward and the storm itself moving northward bringing snow to new england, by wednesday and thursday well be dealing with much quieter conditions but until then, look at the temperature difference. 82 in tampa, 71 in atlanta, very cold air behind this and thats one of the reasons were seeing the Severe Threat or have been seeing the Severe Threat and we have the clash of the air masses and the devastation is incredible, especially for the month of december when a lot of people are thinking why are there tornadoes in december . It does happen but this is a very different, interesting storm for this time of year. Neil to put it mildly. Janet steam, thank you very, very much. A wide swap area in chicago today theyre dealing with freezing rain and snow in the windy city concurrently. How is that for crazy . How is that for closing out a year . More after this this is the one place were not afraid to fail. Some of these experiments may not work. But a few might shape the future. Like turning algae into biofuel. New technology for capturing co2 emissions. And cars twice as efficient as the average car today. Ideas exxonmobil scientists are working on to make energy go further. Neil you know, it is hard to believe last year at this time donald trump was not anywhere in any poll by anyone mostly because people didnt see him running for president but the factor that possibly even if he did, he wouldnt go very far. That is then, this is now, hes the dominant politician of our times, how long that stays the case, anyones guess. But i imagine dr. Larry some news on that. Larry, good to have you. Thank you, neil,. Charles you know, its interesting because here we are going into the president ial Election Year where donald trump is on top with everyone here and the Republican Party but the conventional politicians within that party, he will damage the brand and will almost guarantee a democratic victory. Do you agree with that . Well, there is a direct and deep split. Youre absolutely right between the base, which fundamentally likes outsiders this year. They like trump and carson and fiorina and all the other outsiders. Well just put them in a big category. And they dislike the normal brand the normalbrand candidates the wons that would have won in 2004 or 2008 or 2012. So very clearly something has happened or a series of things have happened to separate the base to separate the base from the establishment. Neil now, normally that anger of the base is shortlived or even those entertaining a candidate who would be outside the pee tree dish sort of resort and go back to the mean of saying, well, we want to get stuff done. These crazy french candidates, whatever you want to call it, they cant get it done. But were not at that point yet. Does that surprise you . No. Because the voting hasnt started. Too many people are drawing conclusions too early. The curtain has not even lifted on the stage. Yes, weve had a bunch of debates. Yes, weve had a million polls. But the votes are what mattered and the votes start on february 11th. Neil you know, i guess what i was saying no, youre absolutely right. I guess what i was saying polls in the Republican Party, for example, three out of four of them depending on the poll show enthusiasm for outside the box candidates. Not just one love affair with a distant candidate like a donald trump or ben carson or ted cruz. I know is senator but not your typical senator. But if you add that support up all together, it is overwhelmingly for nontransitional candidates. What do you make of that . Well, what i make of it is this. The Republican Base is angry at the Republican Leadership because the promises made in 2010 when the gop took over the house in 2014 when the gop took over the senate, those promises were not met. At least in the view of the base. They were told that if they elected a republican congress, that congress would be able to undo and stop much of what president obama had done and of course under our system its not really possible and sure enough they havent been able to do it. Charles do you ever get a feeling that this anger in washington and inability, for example, among republicans that even with alcohol of house and the senate, theyre still not getting it done and you and i its not as easy as having it your way. But republicans are going to fracture severely over this issue that losing an election might otherwise seem winnable. Well, i let go that far. I think were headed for a highly competitive election. I know right now the republicans look to be doing themselves in. But that has been the case a number of elections when they won. Its also been the case for democrats and a number of elections when they won. So you have to think about what the general election will look like. You have to remember this is an incumbent white houses parties attempt for a third consecutive term, which is really difficult to get. And frankly while the republican nominee may, may end up being a tough sell, the democratic nominee will may very well be a tough sell too. Im thinking of Hillary Clinton being the likely nominee or even if its bernie sanders. Hell be a tough sell. Neil real quickly on this whole trump phenomenon. The argument against him being the republican nominee is he would turn off latino voters, turn off women voters, he counters, yeah, look at all the new voters i brought in. People who never voted republican, never voted at all who are now with me, and they dwarf whatever these establishment guys fear the party might be losing. Does he have a point that he is gaining more for republicans than he is losing . Well, were not to the general election yet. Well see how that voter calculus works out. Ill tell you what does help him or any republican nominee is polarization. The partisan polarization. This is not the goldwater situation. You know, goldwater got 38 of the vote. The difference is any republican, any republican is going to get in the upper 40s. Automatically all right . And its a question of whether that nominee can end up winning the two, three, four percent additional necessary to win. The independents, the swing voters, and there arent that many of them left, but theyre the ones who determine often the results of these elections. Neil but if there are more out there who have never voted who were not appreciating the magnitude of that potential. Well, look, yes, there are millions and millions of conservatives, for example, who didnt vote in 2008 and 2012, and i hear this all the time. Well, theyll be so excited and energized that theyre all going to turn up in the polls. Heres the problem with that. In American History believe me. Its a question of mobilization creating counter mobilization on the other side. You dont simply have millions of new voters on one side turning up and the other side produces none of them. You always have both sides in an energized election producing some additional millions. And so thats what i would encourage people to think about. Its never just one side. Neil all right, larry, thank you very, very much. Just a reminder. Were a little more than a couple of weeks away from the next president ial debate. It will be fox business turn the second time weve been happy to host and get that honor. The first big president ial debate of the new year, and we are there in charleston, south carolina. We hope you can join us for that. More after this neil you know, i think it started with t mobile but now verizon is getting into the act to give you 650 to switch from another carrier to go to verizon. Theyve all been going back and forth to unlock you from contracts that you might find onerous. It has worked out well for tmobile but certainly not isographs as tmobile verizon the big boy in this when it comes to dedicated iphone customers and the like now entertaining that as well. 650 bucks if you switch from another carrier to them, and they hope you do. All right. Well, im never switching. My allegiance to gary when it comes to interpreting volatile markets. Hes been right on the money and even when he hasnt, hes given me an explanation that is so dumbfounding im convinced im wrong and hes right. Goodness to you and happy new year, my friend. Good to see you. Neil the market has been sliding away, we have a couple of days left but it is looking like its going to be clawing and scratches to eke out a positive year on the dow. Not so much the nasdaq but certainly the dow, which would be the first down year since 2008. If that happens, what does that mean . Well, first off the good news after a bunch of years doing so well to have maybe a year thats just down a little bit is not such a bad thing. The bad news is i really do believe i think the dow and some other areas are really masking a lot of damage that has been done underneath the surface, and i hate to say this, neil, but this really reminds me the action were seeing right now of 07. It reminds me a little bit of 99, 00 and 72, 73 before that bad market. Neil so wait, wait, wait, youre saying this is preview to not so great coming attractions. That is what im thinking, sir. And let me just say this. Already, you know, because the headline is always the dow, s p. The russell 2,000 is down 14 to 15 to the highs and today is where it was 26 months ago. The transports are down 26 . Hasnt moved in two years. Same for the nysc. So underlying the amazons and the googles and the facebooks, theres a lot of damage done and all of my awork studying the history in every top of the market, it seems this ones getting close, and i would not be surprised in january the major embassies, the popular ones top out and what is a stealth bear market becomes more widely known, unfortunately. Neil you know, the one thing that this markets been pretty good at doing is climbing unless wall of worry. Defying the skeptics and the doubters. Right. Neil and youre quite right to say underneath the surface we have a bear market and many of these stocks a good third of them in the s p 500 what others argue, well, thats whats going to be the case. Well have a lot and that will be a bear market territory but not the averages themselves. Can you have that long of disconnect . Because if you did, it would be breaking a lot of records. Unfortunately, i have never seen have where the markets like this and the rest of the market does not come down. And just remember another big point now, neil. We have not had a bear market in seven years because of all the central bank intervention. Time is also not on the side of the market either. And thats what i think another issue is. Besides i can get into the fundamentals and talk about sales growth is heading down. Earnings growth is heading down and the massive debt thats been built up around the globe that doesnt get talked about unless you talk about it. So i do think there are some issues out there, and i think think were just one catalyst away from the major embassies to join whats already been what weve been saying is a stealth bear market, and i would because he had been not be surprised if its january. And its just way over due. Neil well, hasnt it been talking to you. Gary, thank you very much. Happy new year, my friend. Neil to you as well. We always get these bull issues, and we let you decide. Different people look at the numbers different way. But that guys pretty smart. So worth noting. All right. Retail sales are not bad. Youve seen these latest figures show theyre up 8 this Holiday Season . Well, now theyre a couple of retailers are trying to find ways to make that last a little longer by making it a lot easier for you to keep buying. As is. Neil all right. This is one of those things youre going to want to focus on nat gas, its up about 8 , that is just today, futures climbing 8 . A lot of that has to do with weather. Now that its getting chilly and particularly out in the midwest, even in parts of texas where theyre expecting snow and ice all the way up to chicago, you can well imagine that the demand for natural gas as spiked. Oil going south, nat gas going north, a lot north. And then theres amazon, take a look at stock. It has more than doubled in the past year. Think of that, it has more than doubled in the past year. And it is still on fire. And it is still trying to find ways to stick it to the other guys. Now, the other guys are trying to respond. Too little, too late. Jo ling kent on what theyre doing. Reporter thats right. Well, amazons business is so robust that places like macys and etsy and target and walmart are trying to get their game together with more sameday delivery, faster shipping thats prix. And the reason theyre doing thats free. And the reason theyre doing this is the ecommerce industry is 300 billion worth of stuff that youre ordering, and youre used to getting it fast if youre on amazon prime. Theres three million new people using amazon prime the week before christmas, and they say this is tens of millions of people using prime over this year. So prime is clearly working so well, in fact, that amazon is hib leasing cargo planes to get your stuff to you even faster according to the wall street journal. Another important factoid for you to realize here, youre shopping on your mobile device. You may not know it, but 70 of those people shopping on amazon did it over the Holiday Season on a tablet or smartphone. Other retailers trying to get in the game, neil. It isnt too late, but the it is a very tough go right now as amazon continues to just kill it in this Holiday Season. Neil all right, thank you very much. All right, we should say some of the early figures we have out show some pretty good numbers for retail sales, up 7. 9 . I dont know how that breaks down, internet, noninternet players. Its a lot stronger than some had expected. Having said that, monica follows this stuff very, very closely, says it isnt what it appears for everybody, so not everyone has been enjoying that. Gas has really given a raise to the average consumer, and they have been spending, but not necessarily at the mall. Theyre spending eating out, more on rent, theyre spending more on electronic devices, and those are the kinds you buy online. So what youre seeing with the broader sector is that retail is down about 9 while Consumer Spending is up about 12 , the entire discretionary sector. Neil so for walmart which is, were enlightening me, has a great web site. It might be second to amazon but, you know, it obviously has got this thing down. Its not that necessarily sales are soaring up, right . So thats actually the spot that walmart needs to focus on the most. Their site is about 13 billion which is what a lot of people dont realize, but theyve been investing a lot of money souping up their site. But these old School Retailers neil if theyre at 13, whats amazon . About 72 billion. Neil wow. So walmarts second to that. Correct. And so walmarts been facing issues that are different than the typical retailer. Theyre seeing costs going up for minimum wage hikes, more competition from dollar stores, grocery stores, and at the same token theyre seeing that their low income consumer is now on the smartphone, theyre shopping online, theyre more likely to start going and buying online whereas they would be probably the last consumers to make that switch. And theyre making that switch now. Neil what about those who, i guess technically you have to include this week as part of holiday sales. Absolutely. Neil so with that being case and people chasing sales and returning goods, they end up buying more than the value of the goods that are returned oftentimes, right . Yes. Neil how do you think this will all sort out . This whole year . Well, the week after christmas is huge, you cant discount it, and Holiday Shopping certainly does not stop on december 25th. 50 of consumers are back in stores this week, they absolutely shop even more, retailers realize that, and they understand this is the time to clear out the inventory that doesnt sell to have that turnover to bring in room for other merchandise. I think youre going to see that, the money thats going into consumers wallets from the gas savings, they are spending it, theyre just not spending it on sweaters and books, the same things that they have in the past. But they are out there spending. Neil you know what i notice . People know what they want to buy, lets say an electronic item, a gadget, theyre going to go online to do it because they know what they want, right . Well, online is a fantastic way to comparison shop, right . And why wouldnt you want to do that . When its so easy to check six different stores, why wouldnt you do that . At the same time, theres a few things that are just easier to buy in a store. Anything that you try on and dont want to deal with shipping it back, bricks and mortar isnt going anywhere. Amazon is looking into setting up its own retail establishments to facilitate its business. Bricks and mortar, online, its Consumers Want it all. Neil yeah. The best retailers are going to find a way to make it all work. Neil monica, thank you very much. Thank you. Neil weve got a chill across much of the country. This is the mirror opposite of where we were last week at this time. A lot of that chill that has already hit and caused massive storm when it bangs into that warm air, tornadoes and other horrific images youve seen out of the south and the midwest, well, its going to get worse as far as the severity of weather and how cold it gets. And that is why nat gas prices are soaring. Today alone, today alone, gaining as much as they lost in the last month. Stick around. Neil all right, weve told you about this wicked weather across much of the midsection of the United States, 43 dead across seven states, but the reverberations are fast and furious. Its affected travel anywhere and everywhere in between. 1650 total delays throughout the u. S. Today, better than 1080 cancellations within, into or out of the usa today u and with the 3,000 Flight Cancellations or thereabouts over the weekend, were now north of 4,000 Flight Cancellations as a result of the storms. But as i posited at the beginning of the show, i think many of those families who have seen their homes destroyed or loved ones killed would gladly swap a flight delay for that. Just putting that in some perspective. All right, putting ramadi in some perspective here, it is a big, seminal moment to get it back. Iraqi troops doing just that today from isis control. Now, the question is how long they can hold on. Major general bob scales on that. Our role was advisory, if i understand, general, but the trick is keeping that control, right . Oh, absolutely. Its important to realize that the iraqi troops that took ramadi were the ateam, neil. This was the eighth socalled golden division, and theyre counterterrorism forces. When you play the tape, youll see the iraqing key soldiers in the black uniforms, those are the commandos. The real question is, neil, can they scale that, to use a business term. Can they increase the effectiveness of their army by a factor of three or four . Because thats what its going to take to hold on to ramadi, attack in the north, open the door to mosul which is the real target, do to mosul what they did to ramadi. Obviously, you know, school the still out on that. But you have to, you have to give a hand salute to the iraqi army. Theyve come a long way in the last 14 months as evidenced by what they did in ramadi. Neil yeah. I was thinking of you, general, looking forward to chatting because this is the same iraqi army that without any fighting just threw down their arms and ran in the face of approaching isis soldiers. Yeah. Neil one of the things thats interesting about that is at the time isis ignited global terror and fear even in the case of the iraqi soldiers 14 months ago who vastly outnumbered them. Right. Neil that has changed, and thats a big psychological change, isnt it . Yeah. Well, you know, heres the thing, it just reinforces what ive been saying on your show for years. War is not a test of material, neil, war is a test of will. War is a test of moral dominance. Whichever army thinks its going to win is the army that wins. Fourteen months ago you and i had no question about who owned the psychological dominance on the battlefield. Now the question is have we reached a turning point, have we reached a Tipping Point . Is this new euphoria among the iraqi soldiers going to scale and grow . And will our support of the iraqis continue . Particularly our air support and the supplying of the iraqis with antitank missiles and other things that are really turning the tide in the close fight. And the final thing is remember, neil, mosul is almost 300 miles away. Thats a long, long trip for an army, and do the iraqis have the logistics to be able to do this . Right now the answer is, no. Probably no attack on mosul will even begin until the springtime, so this is just the beginning, this is just the end of the beginning for the iraqi army. They have a long, long way to go, neil. Neil yeah. You could imagine that no sooner they hold onto ramadi, then the risk of taking some of those soldiers to mosul, last thing you want to do in this environment, right . Absolutely right. Look, this is all good news, but ive got to tell you, remember, mosul is three times the size of ramadi. Theyve had isis have had a year and a half to dig into that city. It looks like, it looks like something the palestinians, you know, would do in gaza city. They are ready and waiting for the iraqis to attack. And dont forget, mosul is the center of gravity and the heartland of the isis rebellion, a much tougher nut to crack. Neil thank you, general, very, very much. And to the generals very sound point, the iraqi Prime Minister is on the wires saying that 2016 will be the year of final victory against the Islamic State. Of course, they have to beef up their numbers, get more soldiers, dont want to spread them out too thin or risk letting ramadi fall yet again, but hes very optimistic the trend will change in 2016. Also following another development here. Youve obviously heard of this anonymous group, some call them that theyre hactivists. They will target, lets say, isis directly and try to mess with their computers and all, but they will also go after presumably the good guys, the turks, for example. Thats depending on your perspective if you believe the turks are good guys. But theyve been hacking them as well. So im not sure whose side theyre on, they just seem to mess up all sides. Online security expert Robert Siciliano of what he makes of anonymous as a group. What do you think . Well, certainly a collective of hactivists that seem to have time on their hands for vengeful tactics such as this. They said a while back that they were going to take revenge on isis, try to disrupt them, and it seems that this is an attempt to do just that by going after the government of turkey. Neil all right. But they seem to be indiscriminate about this. You know the group better than i, but they like to mess up everyones lives, right . Is that basically right . Well, they generally take upon some form of a cause. Someone that they feel or some entity that they feel is unjust and they seek justice. At least thats generally what the consensus is. Hactivism is activism, and whether you agree or not, generally their modus operandi is to disrupt and often, you know, to make a right make a wrong right. Neil now, what they seem to be saying in the case of the turks you, the United States and western powers and fellow nato members, might see turkey as a friend, we do not. Now, of course, theyre not the first to say that. There have been many in washington very leery of turkey and how eager a participant it is in this war on terror. More specifically, taking out isis. So do they sometimes bring that to the fore and say, look, your friend is not your friend . Is that what theyre up to . They seem to believe that in some way, shape or form that turkey is harboring terrorists, that in some way they are, you know, fostering, you know, isis in some way, harboring them, protecting them many some way and that, you know, what theyre doing is unjust and that theyre bringing attention to it. Neil all right. Thank you very much, robert, i appreciate it. Robert siciliano. All right, could this star wars movie get any worse . It only now hit a billion dollars in ticket sale sales . It took you 12 days to get to a billion dollars . Is really . Okay, thats pretty impressive. After this. Neil all right. It took a long time, right . The this long to get to a billion dollars. [laughter] if thats the force awakens or reawakens or goes back to sleep, i have no idea. But i did see this flick, ladies and gentlemen. I thought i owed it to you to gauge my wrath in a way that makes my ranting and raving applicable. Nothing has been updated in this movie from when i saw the first one back when jimmy carter was president , 1977. Apparently im the only one in the world who feels that way. But this billion dollars in ticket sales is without china. So china has not even been a part of this, which it was for jurassic park, the record that was broken yesterday. So imagine what it could do with china. They could easily get one or two people to watch it there, so you might get a little higher. It will not break jurassic worlds record. Okay, take that with a huge grain of salt. [laughter] a very laughing and snickering Charles Payne with me right now. Hes not here to talk about this stupid movie, although alvin and the chipmunks, go [laughter] that was us. We had that one. Yeah. I try to keep i followed the posters in the building so i know which movies to criticize. I think i made a mistake one time [laughter] neil what a sinking ship. Anyway, lets talk a little bit about stocks. Only a couple more days of trading really, and were looking at a down year for the dow. A down year for the dow, today is an amazing day in the sense that its a snapshot of whats happened this year. Google is up, amazon is up, facebook more or less unchanged. Its just, again, 10, 12 stocks have buoyed this market to the point where its masked a lot of carnage beneath the surface. The main drivers, we peg it to oil, its whats making oil go down which is a lack of demand, the glut in the strong dollar. And those are going to be themes that we carry over into next year. Neil all right. But gary was here a little earlier talking about this market that exists that under the surface a lot of stocks are well into bear market territory. My point is, yeah, but the averages are not. So how long does that disconnect last . Either those stocks moving up or the averages following suit . Thats it, thats the big question. Im not sure. Neil thats why i asked you. [laughter] the transition from just, you know, the kneejerk reaction for these particularly large Money Managers to buy these stocks, i think what people dont realize, and youve had a lot of debate about these buybacks this year and last year, if you take those out of the picture, the market would be down, the broad market would be down, like, 20, 30 . Neil is that right . The average american investor has been taking so much money out of domestic stocks for the entire year, its amazing. It is absolutely mindboggling. So the average person watching the show for the most part gave up on this market a long time ago. Neil what do you say to the ben steins and others who were on our weekend show saying, well, you know, i dont know of any stock pickers who can outdo the general market as a rule . You are a big exception to that, but the understanding being if you invest in an index that mirrors the performance of the s p or whatever right. Neil thats the way to do it. The question now is, though, are you getting at top by levels here, and its going to take a long time to recoup your money . Heres my problem when ben stein says that, there have been exhaustive studies on this, and the reason why it always says the average person cant beat the averages is theyll buy one or two stocks, theyll go down and sell at a loss. Youve had all of these people who have bought individual stocks and couldnt beat the averages. By the same token, real professionals who follow and its not Rocket Science know whats doing well, we kind of intuitively know, and then you start to crunch the numbers, its pretty much out there. So it is possible to beat the averages, and i agree with ben if youre not going to do the work, then stick with the s p, the spiders neil what do you tell your customers that say, look, thanks to you, charles, im up for the seventh, eighth year, i dont want to chance it, i want to take my cards off the table . Im getting a lot of people now, i had about three, four emails today, people who wanted to sell things that ive asked them to sell earlier in the year. So its interesting that people dont like to take a loss until it becomes a deep, deep loss. And the biggest mistake is to try to make it all back. Conversely, to your point, if youve made a lot of money year and you think nows the time to take it all off the table, itd be a huge mistake. Believe me, i believe in taking profits and ringing the register, but this whole timing the tops and bottoms, its folly. Either youre lucky or lying. Neil what a good guy. He gets it and some very happy customers. And he has that onus each night at 6 p. M. , if he doesnt, well, hes out of here. Theres a hot dog stand with my name on it. [laughter] neil no, that one is mine. If i asked you a question, folks, before we go to this break, which candidate has spent the least money of any candidate, i mean, the least, what if i told you that candidate was donald trump . Yeah. And what if i told you were going to have another debate to get into that with donald trump and all those republicans running for president of the United States . How is it this man is getting outspent by all these other guys, and he leads them by a country mile . Is this a great country or what . We live in a pick and choose world. Choose, choose, choose. But at bedtime . Why settle for this . Enter sleep number, and the lowest prices of the season. Sleepiq technology tells you how well you slept and what adjustments you can make. Neil all right. Well, an interesting comment from an interview that ben carson conducted with the Washington Post commenting on the nature, tone, tenor of the race, he says that it has been pretty brutal, this experience for a neurosurgeon running for the highest office in the land. Going on to say its been a Pretty Amazing year, no question about it, highs and lows, obviously, going through a process like this is pretty brutal. Everybody told me that it would be, so that doesnt particularly prize me. He says when asked about whats brutal about it, carson responded, well, the fact that people try to find a scandal. Of course, there are no scandals which is pretty frustrating for them, im sure. He was asked as well about his plummet in the polls, issues that will come up a couple of weeks from now in the first president ial debate of the new year, and fox business has it on january 14th. We hope youll join us. In the meantime, back to all that money these guys plan to spend, donald trump is still relying on just the pub publicity his presence generates. Adam good on that spending. Now theyre just pulling out all the stops. As a gop communications strategist, you look at this stuff closely. A lot of the time its interpreted as a hail mary pass. What are you noticing . Well, of course,s this is my favorite time of the year. I like to say the ad wars have begun. And youre looking, neil, at the beginning of a process where probably upwards of 4 billion will be spent on ads across america in almost every Major Campaign across america. And what youre seeing in the leadin to the segment that you offered about trump, how is he doing so well, right now its not about the size of the ad buys, its really about the grab of the messenger and the message. And i think you see that in the ads already not just in you might say the daytoday free ads from billionaire trump, but also in other paid ads; marco rubios ad on isis, the christie ad on national security, the cruz ad on border security, even jeb bush when he had the seems like half the citadel behind him for the military. This is the beginning of a uniquely american tradition where you might say the campaigns move in to not only americas living rooms, but, of course, in the modern age along, across mobile devices throughout the land. Neil now, were going to explore this a little bit with our next guest, but im curious as to your thoughts on donald trump spending so little, and hes not had to. The argument is he will have to to take on charges and blanket the country, blanket iowa and New Hampshire, to counter criticisms that have come up and that he relies largely on media interviews that get the message out but maybe not as effectively as just blanketing the airwaves. What do you think . Well, look at it this way, neil. Every time donald trump goes on the air especially on fox since fox ratings are pretty darn good its up to a Million Dollar or better bump without having to spend a nickel. It is the most inventive, might say Ingenious Media campaign without spending much that weve seen this president ial politics neil by the way, i agree with you. Chris christie certainly in New Hampshire with the surge by targeting a lot of those ads on fox certainly other venues, but to just keep drilling away on that alone. Well, right now were getting into the survival games. Neil yeah, yeah. And after iowa as we move into New Hampshire, were going to see a lot of candidates kasich, bush, rubio, christie theyre all going for the establishment lane. For them the word is survival. And the ads might very well be a factor in who takes second place versus fourth place which might mean difference between packing your bags and starting to head home. Neil thats amazing. Think about that. It might make a big difference between being first or second or in or just out. Thank you, adam, good stuff. Thank you. Neil all right. Back to donald trump. Remember when i was saying about look at what hes done without much spending. You know the guys a billionaire, people argue over how much of a billionaire, suffice it to to say he has billions of dollars. So he could unleash something that would really change the dynamics of this race in a way we have never seen, potentially. Former jeb bush spokesman justin on that. What do you make of the potential of donald trump coming in guns blazing and wallets open . Well, he is getting a lot of free media right now. Hes dialing it in, hes calling in to a lot of talk shows, getting a lot of free exposure. It remains to be seen how much of his own money hes really willing to spend on the campaign. He says hes prepared to do it, but he hasnt done it yet. Thats a big question mark, i think, neil. Neil obviously, hes a shrewd businessman, if he doesnt have to spend the money, he wont. If hes generating publicity without spending the money, he wont. But youre quite right, there is a point in the campaign where you have to secure the deal, and that has been something hes been reluctant to do. Why do you think that is . Well, you know, im not really sure why hes been reluctant to do it, you know . I think on one hand he doesnt want to spend it if he doesnt have to, but hes running a very unconventional campaign. Not only is he not spending money on conventional things Like Television advertising or radio advertising, but hes not doing the things that the voters, the early state voters have come to expect. Hes not like, for instance, in the state of New Hampshire i havent heard of donald trump doing a lot of town Hall Meetings in the state of New Hampshire. Compare that to governor chris christie, compare that to governor jeb bush. Theyre pressing flesh, and those New Hampshire voters, they like to be talked to, and they like neil yeah, but hes leading those guys. And the rap against marco rubio, the same thing that he doesnt do a lot of that press the flesh, flesh pressing, whatever. I know what youre saying. And that he might be an exception, that is donald trump, to that. And im wondering when i see that type of development and i see trump using social media namely twitter to convey, you know, instant opinions, then that changes, right . Apparently we just lost our guest, and it might be donald trump and his surrogates who are annoyed by that and now control the satellite feed. By the way, we did get an interesting trump tweet that the Republican Party of virginia, controlled by the rnc, is now working very, very hard to stop him. Hes very concerned about this effort on the part of the party to sort of swear allegiance on the part of a republican candidate, that you cannot, you cannot even entertain not being a republican, not being loyal to the Republican Party, and donald trump is afraid that is sending a message that independents arent welcome, that democrats who might want to switch sides and vote arent welcome, and that will be damaging. Particularly to him, but it sends the wrong message. Does charlie kirk agree . Charlie, what hes saying is thats not fair. If other folks can jump the political aisle and vote in primaries in other states, then they should have the same right in virginia. What do you make of that . Yeah. So he does have a point to an extent, and youre going to start to see this in the next 60 days, a lot of these states that more have establishment control or the moderate wing of the party, if you will, that feel threatened by trump, theyre going to use these Ballot Access laws as a way to thwart donald trump. Trumps coalition is not built just between regular republican primary voters. Its going to be independents, people who havent voted in a long time and what used to be called the reagan democrats. I believe personally if it is a republican primary, theres nothing wrong with saying you have to selfidentify as a republican voter, but some of the Trump Supporters are going to say i dont want to do that. The reason i like donald trump is hes so out of the party line, hes against whats wrong with the Republican Party. So i think that could be a deterrent to some of trumps support. Neil could it also tick off young voters like yourself who say, look, some of us might not flip over donald trump, but thats stacking the deck against him, and we dont like it . Well, yeah, theres a lot to be said for that, and id be very careful in making this comparison. In 2008 when barack obama was going against Hillary Clinton, a lot of his support were young people in the caucuses and early primary states, and he lobbied really hard to make the Ballot Access laws nonpart id. Im being very careful to compare barack obama to donald trump, but barack obama, he said from the onset i want to make everybody be able to vote, republicans and democrats. And actually, in iowa when barack obama upset Hillary Clinton and hillary finished third, obama credited a lot of that success to the fact that Younger Voters particularly College Students across iowa, republicans, independents were able to come and caucus without having to selfidentify as a democrat right at the door. And so theres a lot to be said for that, and i think donald trump is trying to replicate the broadbased, social mediacentric type, successful platform that someone like obama was able to do back in 2008. Neil id be curious, charlie, when you talk to a lot of young people, how do they feel about trump . His fixation runs across a lot of age groups, a lot of nationalities, disaffected voters, but how best to describe young people and how they view him . Generally negative, quite frankly. And mostly he embodies a lot of the stereotypes that, quite frankly, you know, myself as a conservative were trying to fight back against. He comes across as very brag doe shus, obviously brag doarks, obviously, and a little bit of a different ilk of the Republican Party that young people are kind of fed up with. They want something more of a forwardthinking, more of a coalescing coming together type candidate. Thats not to say theres not young people that arent going towards Donald Trumps candidacy. One of his biggest tactics that has been appealing to some Younger Voters is the fact that he isnt part of party establishment, that he cant be bought by a specific donor class, so on and so forth. However, in his tone and rhetoric, a lot of young people are turned off by that, republicans included. We just hosted a conservative young conservative summit last week, and we did a straw poll, donald trump didnt get more than ten votes. That kind of shows hes definitely not the number one choice for Young Conservatives and young people in general. Neil well, its still early, to your point. Charlie kirk, thank you very much. Guys, if i could take a look at our weather map, update you on the freeze that is about to grip much of the Southern States all the way up to chicago to compound be all the awful weather problems theyve had, expected snowfalls tonight that could extend to new england and north points. After all this warm weather theyve experienced, leaving aside the horrific damage thats been done and all the cold and sick folks to follow with this dramatic swing in the weather, youre paying more to warm yourself if youre luckily enough to have a home. Nat gas prices are up close to 8percent just today, and this is a big reason. Well have more after this. The only way to get better is to challenge yourself, and thats what were doing at xfinity. We are challenging ourselves to improve every aspect of your experience. And this includes our commitment to being on time. Every time. Thats why if were ever late for an appointment, well credit your account 20. Its our promise to you. Were doing everything we can to give you the best experience possible. Because we should fit into your life. Not the other way around. Neil all right. Weve told you about these horrific storms in the south and all the way up to the midwest in the illinois area thats claimed already 43 lives, but now theyre going to be dealing with cold after tornadoes. Im talking freezing rain and snow that will extend up a good part of the country and later on into the northeast. So to add insult to injury, higher utility bills for a lot of these folks. A moot point to many who have lost homes and far, far worse. But a reminder as well Energy Prices that can tumble can just as easily reverse themselves. Nat gas prices now closing up to 10 today. That is just today. On the phone with us, texas congressman Pete Sessions on the damage there, the very real damage that goes way beyond just economic damage. Congressman, youve surveyed the scene, you know the scene. This, this is horrific by anyones math, huh . Neil, it is. Garland and [inaudible] texas which are beautiful suburbs to the north and east of dallas suffered a huge storm on saturday that spawned 11 tornadoes neil wow. That literally just bored down on this area. Eight people were killed in these storms, several hundred injured. Hundreds of locations, buildings, homes damaged. Governor has declared this area of texas as a disaster area, and i was out am still out in it right now looking at this. The force of Mother Nature is amazing. And what has happened in this is something where garland and the cities, communities, churches getting together helping one another. But as you also mentioned, on top of the tornadoes we then had 6 inches of rain yesterday and today freezing temperatures. Neil incredible. You know, congressman, im told that it could have been a lot worse casualty wise if not for the sirens and horns that rang in some of the affected communities, garland among them. Do you agree with that . Did a lot of people get out before it got bad . They didnt have a heck of a lot of time to do so, but it was enough to get many out of harms way directly. Well, in fact, as you talk about, the alarm systems here were alerting people, peoples cell phones. Several of the deaths, one of them was three people in one car neil right. It actually came across a major freeway and struck at a time when lots of people were there. So this is, this is what happened with the deaths. Injuries were from flying, all sorts of flying debris that was over a mile wide area east to west. And we were just lucky, quite honestly. God was so good to people to take care, but they did seek cover, and it worked. Neil it did, indeed. Could have been a lot worse, as hard as that is to believe. Congressman, thank you very, very much. You boesch betcha. And, neil, thank you for focusing on the lives of people. We believe in dallas, texas, garland, texas, in communities where we help each other, thats whats happening today, a healing process and grieving for those who were injured and killed. And thank you for highlighting how important real america is this texas. Neil well, as you know, youve sadly seen this before, congressman. Time and again were reminded of that. When everything goes horrifically wrong, how people rally around. But i do use it as a reminder, folks. We talk about, you know, the Holiday Season and did you get the right gifts, did you pay the right price. When you step back and think of what all these people have lost and loved ones who are no more and that young bridegroom who lost his sweetie just a month after his wedding, you put that in perspective, and you think, well, i guess i should just shut up. All right, weve got Financial Planner chris hogan with us right now. Theres no way you could absolutely prepare for the unthinkable, but there are ways to prepare at least getting out of it alive. Chris, i mean, we talk about this again and again and again, how certain areas are vulnerable. What amazes me about texas a lot of people say, oh, its trailer parks and all of that that get the wrath of the storm. This was a well to do community, very, very expensive homes. We forget that Mother Nature, you know, has equal discretion for all. And im wondering how you protect in that event for that. What do you do . Well, neil, i think one of the first things you have to do is understand that it impacts everybody at any point in time. So we have to be prepared. I encourage people to have an emergency fund, to be able to set aside some money so when life happens, youve got some cushion, some money to be able to go to to be able to get hinges back on track and be able to things back on track and be able to move forward. Neil how big should that cushion be . You want to have three to six months of expenses set aside. Put that in a money market account so its liquid. You can get to it when you need to. Its not an investment, and its not for spending. Its a cushion, its an emergency fund. Neil also i was hearing, and it was a good point, i never thought of it before. God forbid, if youre about to fear that youre going to lose everything in your home, even if you get out of there alive, you should be backing up a lot of the data or bank account information, anything that you have so that you can retrieve it again, right . Well, thats a great idea. I often encourage people to put something in a Bank Security box. Maybe its a flash drive with some of the passwords and copies of your will and your Life Insurance, some things where you can get to it in the event of an emergency. A lot of times we dont have a lot of notice, so we have to be prepared. Neil you know, a lot of communities i dont know what it will be in the case of these affected communities where theyre not insured for this and they will depend on fema support or that sort of thing, but there might be particulars or nuances in your Home Insurance or even your Life Insurance data that youre not aware of what should people look for to make sure, god forbid, theyre covered in the event something goes awry . Well, neil, you bring up a good point, and its the whole aspect of insurance. Remember, insurance is risk management. You make a payment in exchange for the coverage. So i encourage people to definitely make sure you look at your Life Insurance, make sure you look at your homeowners and your automobile coverage to understand how the policy works and what it coverses and what it doesnt cover. But in the event of a tragedy or an emergency, i really encourage people reach out, contact your insurance carrier. Be diligent in the claims process and dont wait on them. You follow up and be diligent in your followup. Neil yeah. I heard it explained, worry nonstop. Assume nothing. Just fret over everything. Because you cant stress that enough to be prepared, just in case. Chris, thank you very much. Very good talking to you. Thank you for having me. Neil all right. This might seem like a moot point after all of that horror, but, you know, when it comes to people calming down and then stepping back and looking at the world of the markets and their investments, what if i told you it doesnt matter the some, it doesnt matter the calamity, young people in particular have had it . Theyve had it with investing. Theyre so scarred, so angry, so ticked off that theyve signed out . How do you win them back . After this. This is the one place were not afraid to fail. Some of these experiments may not work. But a few might shape the future. Like turning algae into biofuel. New technology for capturing co2 emissions. And cars twice as efficient as the average car today. Ideas exxonmobil scientists are working on to make energy go further. No matter how many tries it takes. Energy lives here. Neil if im reading in this correctly, i think Peyton Manning just told aljazeera ill see you in court or im thinking about it, saying that hes looking at a possible lawsuit against aljazeera after these doping allegations. You might recall that the Cable Network aljazeera had said that the Denver Broncos quarterback and a number of other professional athletes, by the way had been linked to an indiana antiaging clip take offers its clients the Human Growth Hormone among other drugs. Now, manning aggressively denied this, said that it was outrageous and then, lo and behold, one of the key people who had provided that information to aljazeera had recanted his own statements. So this is developing into something much bigger than we thought, and now manning reportedly considering taking his angst with legal papers and suing aljazeera. Well keep you posted. Meantime, we told you a lot about this being the year of the Federal Reserve finally stopping easy money policies that had dominated the past eight years and started tightening rates. That might have alienated some folks who are in debt and dont want to pay more for that kit, savers another story, but what if i told you it has the biggest effect on young people, Millennials Mar to the point more to the point, who might think this changes everything . How so, david . For them what does it mean . Well, the end to an Interest Rate cycle like this where we begin to see rates rise will affect the Asset Classes that have benefited the most from loose Monetary Policy. So stocks should suffer. Bonds should suffer. Real estate should suffer. And i think over the next 1224 months youre dealing with a period of time where volatility may be enough to ruin the perception of an entire generation in terms of investing in at least stocks and bonds. Neil all right. A lot of them have been soured since the meltdown, right . And maybe because of the experience of their parents or maybe indirectly themselves, but theyve never been keep on these markets. How has thatmatically changed, or will it . I think theres a degree of cynicism to say, look, the guy on the street hasnt benefited from the Federal Reserve, the European Central bank, the bank of japan, so you see the rich getting richer. And just out of college, its not like they have a tremendous amount of assets to appreciate as we have seen appreciation since the 2009 lows. So there is a degree of cynicism there relating to Monetary Policy and its impact to asset prices. Neil do you ever get a sense, though, that a lot of these young people might use this as an excuse . They were leery of the markets anyway, they see the fed raising rates, they know the history, to your point, that generally its up to the environment, you know, markets have a tough time advancing am though they have although they have, i guess. What are your thoughts on that . Well, youre exactly right. The number of rate increases is very important. The old phrase three tripses and then a stumble or three steps and a stumble, if you raise rates three times, thats when you begin to see an impact. Look, weve been 73 months in this economic expansion which is longer than 29 out of 33 economic expansions dating back to 1854. Its one of the longest periods of growth weve ever seen. I think to assume that as we head into 2016 and 2017 that were going to continue to see that trend would be a bit naive. So we would be sort of battening down the hatches, so to say, and preparing for extra volatility in 2016. Neil would it be a down year as well . What do you think . Well, i think its probably going to be a down year. I think theres probably that decline you cant anticipate for these reasons. You look at margin debt. Its at the highest level in 2015 that weve seen since east the year 2000 or 2007, and that margin debt level preceded a major decline in the stock market. So to see that peak reached again in 2015 and see a major market decline in 2016 would not be abnormal. Actually, that would be pretty reasonable to assume. And at the same time [inaudible] neil oops, i apologize. He was explaining that margin debt situation. That is borrowed money where you leverage that to buy stocks. If thats at a high, somethings got to happen. Either stocks go up, or you better get that margin debt go down. Right now stocks arent going up, so what do you think happens . There you go. More after in the. Neil apparently weve got isis on the run in iraqi city of ramadi where so many bloody bad tells have taken place. The argument if they have them on the run there can we run them out of everywhere like now . Retired Lieutenant Colonel scott mann on that. Whether it is time to ramp up our efforts to help the iraqis out. Very little of our help to your point, commander, they have done okay but they dont have enough troops to sort of go back and protect mosul and these other crucial places, some of them hundreds of miles away. What do we do to help them out to finally eradicate the isis threat there . Thank you, neil for having me. Happy new year. Neil to you as well. I think its a great thing weve had this victory in ramadi. I think we need to be careful about spiking the ball in the end zone. We still have a long way to go. It is good for troop morale and certainly a strategic win, pushing north against isis wakeup call. Well have to advise the Iraqi Military closely. Theyre nowhere near the unilateral capability to fight forces. It takes a long time to build capacity with army like this. We cant bail on them. We to work closer with them as they continue to press the fight, thats number one. Number two, neil, we need to seize the momentum we have in ramadi and reconnect with a lot of these sunni tribesmen that helped stand up against isis. Get some green berets and advisors out there and work from the bottom up. Those are two things we need to seize momentum and not spike the ball in the end zone after one win. Neil if theyre running away from ramadi, theyre running somewhere else. Syria comes to mind. Strong pockets of isis resistance there. Coalition forces those sympathetic to our desire to get rid of isis, manpower is there. Lindsey graham, now former president ial candidate said we need to commit at least 10,000 troops to do this sort of thing, maybe more. What do you say . Well i think a lot of what weve been doing for the last 14 years, i talk about this in my book, neil, we tried the topdown approach where we put tens if not hundreds of thousands of troops on the ground. We quickly go from Liberation Force to occupation force. That frankly doesnt work. If iraqi forces sweep through ramadi right now, isis will come in behind them and seed back into the areas where they have relationships with marginalized sunnis. What we have to do is get local. That is where isis is most vulnerable. Where they practice horrific social control, we need to get local and reestablish connections and walk sunnis back to she saw. That is what is driving this. This is the threat isis is pulling right now. Neil if you forgive me pull h h comparing military apples and orange, where christie propose ad nofly zone over russia im sorry, over russia, over syria and rand paul said that is inviting disaster. That the russians would not honor there because they have been there before we were with this stuff. Then it would be a disaster. Do you agree with that . I think that were going to have to lead in a way that we have not been leading last several years. In some cases that will invoke conflict. I dont think anyone watching this that is reasonably rational think it is good idea to have russia on one side and u. S. Coalition on the other side flying Bombing Missions in syria in parallel. It is just not a good idea. Well have to stand our ground and lead in some of these cases. One other thing, neil, as we go into 2016 i would love to see the Obama Administration and political candidates stop using boots on the ground analogy out of one side of their mouth and talk about this is not combat operations on the other. If were putting men and women in iraq and advising and Training Forces as we learned in afghanistan where we lost some more guys to bombing attack, they are in combat and need authority and top cover they deserve to fight that war. This is where the war will be in foreseeable future. Certainly 2016, lets start calling it what it is. Neil very wellput, colonel. You think of it, the whole concept, whole name, boots on the ground, those are lives on the browned. Those are ground. Those are men and women. Dont reduce them so sort of like equipment. Wellput, scott. Happy new year to you. Happy new year to you, neil. Neil we told you about the trouble in the markets. Well take a quick peek at the dow. I dont normally obsess over this although were running out of time, the way this is going well have a down year. The way this works out the dow would be in negative territory for First Time Since 2008. Every year since then for barack obama it has been a crowning achievement and all but pointed to it. Averages have doubled, some have tripled under his stewardship and the trend is his friend. Unless there is dramatic improvement of some 350, 60 points next few days, anything is possible, it aint happening. So he is stressed but imagine how youre feeling. Imagine how young investors are feeling after this. Announcer one candidate tough enough to take on the bully. Jeb bush donald, youre not going to be able to insult your way to the presidency. Let me tell but story stock, amazon is up and pretty dramatically. You might say that is good for the day. Check out for the year up 115 as they add 3 million prime users. More cavuto after this. Neil when it comes to energy, what is happening in the natgas arena. Much less so than the heating oil and rest. That price is soaring after these storms and Colder Weather suddenly now gripped these states that have been buffetted by Mother Nature. So goes down and it had tumble is now going up. This generally does follow the weather. Oil thats a whole another matter. We could take a peek at that. Oil prices continue to slip slide away. This might be a global inventory situation and persistent fears the economy is slowing down. The final part of this hat trick what is going on with gas prices. Talking about gas you fill your car with. They continue to slip slide away. Regular unleaded now under 2, a trend so far not losing any steam at all. In the meantime here a lot of folks have been saying whatever youre saving at pump you will pour into something else. Has that happened with housing . Well, relatively chump change in scheme of things. It doesnt go a long way helping with a down payment. A housing pro, the first apprentice winner, i might point out, how do you handle this and step back and deal with it like you were an apprentice and clueless. Good to see you, kiddo. Nice to see you too. Neil a lot of people are freaking out. I missed my chance. All of sudden natgas prices are moving up. Interest rates are moving up. Thats it. Its over. What do you tell them . That is usually the natural response when Interest Rates go up. Lets face it, we had a pretty good vacation when it comes to mortgage Interest Rates past few years. Is normal for people to react that way. The good news gets people off the sidelines. Traditionally Interest Rates start to go up, we usually have one year where we post solid home gains and have a lot more buyers in the market. Neil then what . Then what. That is the good question, neil. I think probably in 2017, eight eight, well probably run out of gas 2018. We had good years in home values and cycle will repeat. Neil what about, i was reading something, you know the stats better than i, but a lot of housing prices have returned around 2006 levels. Is that really so . A lot of hot markets they still have a climb a lot further to get back to those levels. Some of them. Along both coasts we experienced doubledigit price increases over the last year. Weve hit the peaks from 2006. Neil if you were underwater in your mortgage, there is still considerable percentage who are, right. Absolutely. Hardest hit areas are still having a hard time recovering. Neil such as . Phoenix, arizona. Florida. California has come back. Las vegas almost leveled out. Still were licking our wounds. Neil what do you tell millenials who have tough enough time qualifying with stringent guidelines, now they will be more so given a slight up tick, very slight up tick . Millenials certainly have challenges. They accumulated Student Loan Debt more than any previous generation, 2 trillion. That is crazy. All that being said they are still accounting for greatest percentage of homebuyers in 2016. Neil really . Theyre projected to make up 30 of all existing home sales. Neil where is supply really tight . Im told a lot of folks arent putting homes up for sale. Theyre not whole yet. No. Neil or waiting for appreciation to get more pronounced . I think more expensive areas along the west coast and east coast are still struggling with inventory issues. Midwest is doing better and moving forward more moderately and conservatively which is better in the long run. Neil you got annoyed kidding you with during the break. You were an apprentice winner. Donald trump still is running away in the polls. Yes, he is. Neil he becomes president. What cabinet position do you take . [laughter] oh, boy, isnt that a magic question . I have to say, would be really neat to say i at one time i worked for the president of the United States. Neil do you like him . Very much, yeah. People tend to forget he is actually a successful, highly successful businessman. He is not just the tv guy. Neil we see the celebrity stuff. Real estate mogul. Casino mogul. Youre not telling me who are your candidates but dont dislike donald trump. If he is a candidate, he will have my full support. Neil i like that. Kendra todd, kendra todd group. She stands out. These other women, whatever. Ive seen star wars. I told you i saw the latest one. Neil if you didnt appreciate the magic that was star wars, elaine writeses, if i had seen you in my theater i would have thrown a tub of popcorn on your head. Chances are you would have eaten it. Yes, i would have. And on and on we go. A lot of people offended that i did finally see this flick and im more disturbed by the fact that half the people in the theater were dressed up as characters. That alone tells you, i dont know, it is dangerous. A lot look like mike gunzelman. He joins us now. We love him to death. Great sense of humor. Clueless when it comes to movie choices. Dr. Robert ludwig joins us who will try to perform a psychological exorcism. Like to get to the bottom of this. You saw the movie, loved it. Yes. Saw it twice actually. Went this past weekend. Neil do you dress up as a character . No. I dont go that far. I try to stay away from that level. I went by myself this weekend. Neil by yourself. Sat next to woman who was horrified of me. Neil did the dark character, i dont want to give anything away, strike you very imuslike no. Thanks. Im sure i werent get an email after that. Great flick. Billion dollars in 12 days of sales, 12 days being out. Neil took 12 days to do it. Come on. Beautiful thing. Great thing. Neil there there is a lot to get here with gunz but fixation that boards on the word weird. For adults brings them back to their childhood. Neil their childhood was like yesterday. Thats true. Nice to be a part of a fantasy flick where we understand the difference between good and evil. Neil he doesnt. Yes, of course he does. Neil but apparently a lot of star wars fans they disare narcissistic. They are into themselves . I have to say, i looked into the study. Neil you did . Although the numbers were impressive, all the study found this is something we should look into. You can put a narcissistic label on anyone. The definition of narcissism has changed. In some ways primary narcissism is liking yourself that can be productive or pathological. Neil they say that about tv anchors. How is my hair . I think what the study did confirm, which it basically confirmed nothing, that the people in the study were found to be neurotic. Neil really . Intensely feel negative feelings. Who is not neurotic . Neil we know someone here, who saw the movie, we love them dearly, saw the movie eight times in a row. Someone has issues. Neil you think . My thing, what about all the loved ones want to know is he coming home for dinner ever . Theyre concerned. I actually agree with this study, almost holier than thou mentality. Youre not good enough to be part of our cult or group. Im a star wars fan but im not a star wars fans. I cant get into their group. It goes into that millenial neil what does the group do . Dress up like these guys . Whether that or comiccon type people. Neil there is that. That is their own congrats. That is not me. That is not normal. That is more about escaping reality and enjoying fantasy. I dont know that is necessarily neil do they know it is fancy or fiction . Do they know its a movie. They know its a movie. If they are having fun engaging with their group neil why do we let them vote . That is the american way. All of them vote for bernie sanders. Neil in other words, even among star wars fans, some star wars fans say others have gone too far. Almost like feminism. You do it with different classifications of groups, how psychotic you will be about it. I think it also goes to the millenials, this millenials entitlement generation, Pay Attention to us. Neil go out and get a job, right . You have one, right. That is way not to get attention. Get a job. Neil anyone upset about this, send your complaints to don imus. He came up with these questions. Well have more after this. But a few might shape the future. Like turning algae into biofuel. As the average car today. Ideas exxonmobil scientists are working on to make energy go further.
