this is what was reaction what i saw largely peaceful protests everyone has a right to do in this country. it has to stop. i don't know what the answer is, but it cannot go on like this, pete. pete: there is the assumption of violence but it is on one side only. it always comes from the left. i don't know if we have video after restaurant, a couple eating. these are people maybe had been protesting earlier in the day. now they're sitting down for dinner in washington, d.c., fireworks were rocketed into the restaurant. they simply had to leave before they were even more assaulted this is not video. as will pointed out, there it is right there. as will pointed out there were multiple of dozens of videos on the internet you can watch, some we can't show. some people brutally assaulted, trump supporters on the street. violence and chaos is central to the political playbook. imagine this, if preliminary results of presidential election gone the other way, you said after the election, the plywood came down on the upper west side. imagine if the preliminary results had gone in the president's favor. hillary clinton said very clearly under no circumstances should the joe biden concede. imagine the violence. what we saw last night would be a tiny glimpse what the left would have done to our country across all of our streets which is the assumption of the left today. it is not trump supporters. it is not conservatives. it is not patriots. the consent they're a party to it they are defending themselves which they have a right to do as well. congressman lee zeldin tweeted this yesterday about the rally. the president's supporters have a right to peacefully rally supporting potus, just like the opponents have the same right. the physical assaults by leftists targeting his supporters is abhorrent. the media blackout is terrible and telling. you can say the blackout is of course predictable. will: it is. as both of you pointed out, this is in response, the violence in response to a rally to simply show support for president trump. it was a non-violent protest t was a non-violent rally to show support for the sitting president. if you're wondering why so many people, it was a lot of people that came together for the million maga march, here is some of the sound from yesterday. >> very peaceful. a lot of energy here. the most pressing issue the rise of socialism in our country. you have the left basically wants all government control. >> there was a lot of prayer. a lot of prayer. i believe that our country needs prayer. i think trump is a unifier. i know for many people they see him as a divider but i believe he is a unifier. >> i think that as a country we need to stand up and unite and stand together for truth and for, for our freedom, absolutely. we are definitely, our freedoms are being infringed. pete: freedom being infringed. the president made a stop. the president did drive through the rally early on to say hello to his supporters but let's not beat around the bush here, guys. this protest is also about free and fair election. a lot of americans feel like their vote was stolen or there was fraud committed. we still have another week, eight days until the vote is certified in a lot of states. these supporters want to see the president continue to press to reveal any voter fraud, challenge any irregularities. make sure the mail-out balloting that had very have you guardrails is watchdogged. the president was out supporting speaking to his people in peaceful way. he drove through. ultimately about a week to eight days until the vote is certified in a lot of key states. at which point we really have a important moment of decision. jedediah: yeah. you know it also reminded me somewhat of the tea party rallies you used to see popping up around 2010 and immediate demonization of those people. i entered politics and outrage at people on the streets making their voices on the streets about limited debt, low limited government, low taxes. the bottom line the people have the right to assemble in this country peacefully and have a right to make their voices heard. if our new normal that is met with violence, that somehow will not be condemned from within the left or by the media at large, that is a big problem. in the meantime we do have a new president-elect. right now joe biden and his transition team is working. they're actively working. they're building a cabinet. they're looking at advisors and there are two names to be rumored at the top of his secretary of state list. senator chris coons and susan rice. these names are rumored. we can't confirm but interesting nonetheless. as the "new york post" editorial board is questioning if a biden cabinet would undo trump's progress towards mid-east peace. here is the quote from the editorial board. will biden give away the store to restore the obama accord? media cheerleaders, said trump supposedly weakened u.s. al islandses, strengthed them when they insist all members fairly. simply because they embarrassed the foreign policy establishment. that remains the question, will what will be undone. a lot of talk of executive orders coming in hard and heavy right from the start. in terms of progress made when it comes to national security and alliances i think it is interesting what direction a biden administration would take. what is your take on that? will: many people across the country have criticisms of president trump what they should be, one of those should not be he continued the process going on in washington, d.c., for half a century. joe biden had been in congress for 47 years. the clintons were largely represented for decades and national foreign policy pursuit had largely been the same. changes on the margins, republicans, democrats only meant so. when it came to change. president trump changed the game when it came to international trade and when it came to mid-east peace. john kerry said a deal with in mid-east peace simply could not be done unless the palestinians were involved in the process. john kerry was a member of that decades of sameness when it came to foreign policy in washington, d.c. let us hope the change president trumped introduced when it came to that process is simply not reverse and returned to the stuff we sawer. >> after year after year, pete. pete: i don't know if that can be prevented. joe biden is the chairman of the foreign policy establishment that was embarrassed for so long. they are arrogant. they will try to reenter the iran deal. scrap peace in the middle east, working with israel and acknowledging israel's right to exist. they simply tore down nato alliances? no. making people pay their fair share you're strengthening the alliance that the establishment and joe biden and others eroded for years by letting them draft off of us. we'll see what happens there i'm not yet ready to crown joe biden the president-elect. we have a few days left to certify that vote. should that happen, we will see what happens with his cabinet. we know where it stands t won't go well. jedediah: a lot remains to be seen in the coming weeks for sure. straight ahead, new york mayor bill de blasio is warning another school shutdown could be imminent. but one charter school says in-person learning will go regardless of his warning. we'll discuss that next. many are choosing to "deck the halls" early this year like myself a new study says it could make you happier. what do you think? what do you say to parents who are feeling like they don't have options because catholic schools and either forms of education can be expensive and not everyone can afford that alternative? >> that is exactly right. this pandemic laid bare particularly in education parents need choice. right now in states like new york where parents do not have access to tax credits or vouchers the only parents who have options are those who can afford to choose them. if we have catholic schools in the city of new york that are open, the parents that are able to opt in, are those who can find away to scrape together money to pay even the modest tuition. our partnership schools, we have seven schools. four in harlem, three in the south bronx. we serve some of our nation's most vulnerable students. even with the scholarship support we're able to offer, parents need to find some way that to pull together, to pull together tuition money even in a modest form. without support, they're really, you know, it is a choice that is really left only to those who have the means. i think that is of stating, particularly when public schools are not even opening. they're not even, it is not even they're providing a low cost. excuse me, a low quality alternative. they're providing no in-person alternative. with students with special needs we know they're better served in person than online. jedediah: my heart breaks for a lot of parents around this country. they have to show up for work. they have no plan. they worry week to week is the school going on open, is the school going to be closed? >> you shouldn't will, joe biden told us he would be the most progressive president ever in american history. you look at the party and the wings, socialists, aocs, the bernie sanderses are the most vocal and radical members. they won't let joe biden come to the middle that is the problem they will have. when i was in the congress, with the freedom caucus, more moderate members, it was challenging to bring the two sides together because the moderate congressman, they don't, they can't be, couldn't be that conservative or the moderate democrats can't be that liberal. they have to stay close to the center if they want to re-election. you can't remedy the wings of the party together. it is sometimes possible if you have a bug majority but with nancy pelosi having a really small majority, i think they're going to have real challenges and complete chaos if they try to get an adenda to move forward with. i look at kevin mccarthy, kevin will have heyday as republican leader, sticks sand in nancy pelosi's gear. i love when kevin mccarthy, will, republicans from that to minnesota, california to new york. republicans won all over the country because donald trump had coattails. america wants politicians to put americans first, not this globalist idea where sell out to billionaires and big tech annual street. and big pharma. they want politicians to fight for them, not for the biggest interests in america. that is why i think republicans won. pete: nancy with a big mess on her hands. congressman, solve something for us, duffy household, big family, do christmas decorations come out before thanksgiving ever? negotiation settlement. there's a certain inconsistency there to say the least. if we move below 4,500, i don't believe the conditions be justified to do that, although it is under consideration. i don't believe there's any plans to pull out completely from afghanistan prior to january 20, again, because the conditions wouldn't justify that. we'd be moving out too quickly, and pete, you know, how we end a conflict is much more important than how we began it, in terms of our legacy, its impact on our allies and friends and its impact certainly on our adversaries so we're at a very critical stage right here, and i'm comfortable that national security team is very much involved in all of this , with the president of the united states, and i know they met on this subject last week. much discussion about these new leaders in the pentagon and their views that they bring into the pentagon, i think they're there, because the president's going to get more loyalty from them than what he did from their predecessor, secretary esper and i have no problem with that. certainly i'm sympathetic to the fact of the times the president has not had that loyalty and that's pretty shameful, but at the same regard, these leaders aren't driving policy. the president of the united states is driving policy and he's doing it with a very capable national security team. pete: well and his policy, general, has been to leave afghanistan. let me, because i've argued you and i have talked about this a lot. you need the conditions on the ground to reflect the reality not be driven by timelines and that's true, but what if you're at a point where the condition is you're never going to meet the conditions? and that there never is going to be a point at which afghanistan is prepared there won't be peace with the taliban but ultimately being there forever doesn't satisfy it a necessary condition isn't there a point at which the president's prerogative is we're done, regardless of whatever conditions the pentagon is setting. >> yeah, well the war in afghanistan is currently going on, our involvement in that is very modest. we're not involved in a direct fighting, per se, we're supporting the afghans with some leaders who are out there helping them do that, and coordinating for the use of air power which is pretty significant and then we go after al qaeda, isis and taliban leaders with our counter terrorism force. the problem we have always had here is that al qaeda is present , isis is present, they both have aspirations to conduct operations against the united states, is about four other places in the world where we conduct direct action against radical islamist organizations, because their aspirations are to attack the united states. afghanistan still remains one of those. i'm an advocate for keeping a small counterterrorism force there, as a safeguard and security and insurance policy so to speak to protect america just as we're attacking the folks in yemen and eastern africa and also, making certain isis doesn't reemerge in syria, all with very modest forces and i think it's well within the capability of the united states to do that. pete: general real quick i've got to get your comment on one other topic. it's probably more complicated than the time will allow but here is part of an article from the new york times. it says the israeli agents shot abu mohammed on the streets of tehran, officials said but no one, iran, al qaeda, the u.s. or israel has publicly acknowledged the killing so this number two in al qaeda was killed by the israelis what do you make of all of this if this story is accurate? >> well it's significant certainly in terms of who he is, number two he was the planner and director of the operations in 1998 against our two embass ies in africa was killed over a couple hundred people and wounded several hundred, he was in charge of all military training, and he fled to iran after our operations began in afghanistan. i mean, shiite theocracy in ryan iran, it doesn't go together, why is that so the iranians harbored them because they are very anti-american and they have a common bond there, and i also believe it was a way that al qaeda would not cause any problems for them, and if they were planning operations from iran against america that's okay , with the iranians. pete: because iran is already doing that anyway. >> yeah, he was likely killed because they've killed nuclear scientists exactly in the same way, firing guns from motorcycle s against people in cars. they have been in tehran and took out a classified warehouse and took droves of information out of there which pinned the rose that iran was definitely developing a nuclear weapon and pete, over the last year there's been dozens of explosions in iran at various plants to include missile production facility, and these are likely conducted by israelis who are conducting a major espionage sabotage campaign assisted by groups in iran so it is very significant in terms of where he was killed, iran, and also who did the killing, and also, in terms of who this guy really is. pete: absolutely, thanks for breaking it all down this democrat-led cities now facing a wave of crime and their residents and businesses facing a fallout. joining me are two business owners impacted by this movement , jay eddinger from minneapolis and joey ridolfro from seattle. jay, i want to start with you and let's take a look at minneapolis crime spike since 2019, and we'll show that for the audience as well, 22% increase in violent crime, 89% increase in homicides pretty astounding numbers what is your reaction to those numbers and if you wouldn't mind sharing your experience as a business owner in minneapolis through what these numbers have shown to be unfolding. >> well good morning thanks for having me on your show. its been really frustrating its been really upsetting. we've got a community here in crisis right now, and we've got elected officials who are playing political games with our lives. we've got over 500 people shot in our city this year those are 500 lives that are deeply impacted and the people that have been affected the most, the negatively affected the most are people of color and people of low income families, and i'll tell you, to have our city council, our elected officials, not support probably the most honorable and decent and thoughtful man, our police chief whose a man of color and a member of our community who served our community for over 30 -plus years has been really disheartening. jedediah: joey lefts shift over to seattle for a moment and look at those crime stats, 28 homicides in 2019 total, 41 homicides so far in 2020. how do these numbers impact your business, for example? people want to be able to visualize what this experience has been like for a business owner on the ground. can you speak to that a bit? >> sure, you know, seattle, today, we call it a urban campground. our mayor has refused to en klacik up the city downtown after the riots. we continued to be boarded up, unfortunately, for all of us merchants downtown, we've seen a mass exodus of major retailers. we don't see any signs from city council or from the mayor to send a message to us to say hey, listen stick around, we want to rebuild, but i will tell you that, you know, we are on a campaign right now to oust the most cynical person on the city council that's kasha ma sawant, we are now on a path to recall her and she's the first one that we want to extricate from the city council. she is obviously going to be removed for malfeasance and that's an interesting sign and we're hoping that the judge will continue to push on that. jedediah: certainly an interesting development and jay, i want to come back to you on that note, speaking about city councils we've been cover ing this this morning when it comes to minneapolis that the city council ill has approved this extra $500,000 now for a minneapolis police to contract outside officers. do you anticipate that that will affect business in any way or affect the development of the city in any way? >> you know it's a band aid. it's nice to know that three at least three of these councilmembers there were nine that stood on the stage and called to defund the police that three of them have kind of hit the pause button and come to their senses. we still have six that are pretty radical activists as i would call them, that we need to vote out of office next year, and what i'll tell you is businesses and especially in our downtown area are closed right now, more because of public safety than because of covid and you know, so using a hockey analogy, up here in minnesota be the police department here has already been short staffed for years and years and years underfunded and understaffed for years and we've been playing short-handed so now we're playing with a two-person disadvantage and our goalie's pole we're not setup for success the police department is not setup for success. we've got a city council that wants to see them fail or a majority of the city council that would love to see our police department fail, which means we all fail and they protect the rights of criminals more than they do the safety of law abiding citizens and in november next november we've got to do a better job at the voting booth. jedediah: joey just quickly what is the reaction to community members, to families to other business owners through these decisions being made on the ground it has to be deeply distressing. >> it's distressing to have our former chief of police, carmen best, send a note to all of us, residents and merchants saying sorry we can't protect you, you're on your own, i'll tell you that struck a cord with everyone in seattle saying what do we do? do we arm up? do we not have any protection whatsoever? so that was an a alarming letter sent by carmen best and days later she resigned and i'll tell you that seattle, it'll take years and years and years for this city to recover. jedediah: well i can tell you both we've been following these stories many many with business owners around the country. it's deeply distressing to see the impact of the defund the police movement and the cutting of the police department on not only businesses but families and communities and we're hopeful there will be a change. i know, jay you said it's a small band aid in minneapolis, but at least it's additional funding headed in the right direction as opposed to the wrong direction. we thank you both for being here today, and our hearts go out to you if you've been struggling through this time any business owner out there this is really really challenging times reason for frustration, guys is the utter hypocrisy that you see from leaders as businesses are struggling political leaders say hey, we've made moves for you but they don't apply to me, and that ramps up the frustration for a lot of people very quickly. here is a couple of examples of political leaders breaking their own covid-19 restrictions which are lunatic restrictions to begin with but they're not going to follow so you got chicago mayor laurie lightfoot celebrating with a crowd on november 7, illinois governor again joining crowds they were all against crowds until it was crowds we've heard reports of irregularities but we've had several different local units of government where there were rapid changes with the dominion software that came in and the changes overnight are the they trying to hide? there have been several reports of fraud that we have of eye witnesses we want to bring in front of our committee to just share their story and this isn't about changing the
