The top democratic tells fox news they are confident voter turnout in this years primary is going to be sufficiently or substantially higher than what they were expecting. The higher the voter turnout in this primary, the bigger the momentum boost for the winter heading into super tuesday. Another, others want to turn out to be high. Another good sign of turnout will be higher, 75000 ballot have been turned in in this primary, thats my 20000 absentee ballots than what we saw in 2016. The democrats are especially seeing big increases in the black community, remember 60 of democratic votes in his primary comes from black voters. Jon headed into North Carolina, its up 350 from 2016. He didnt want to speculate today about Michael Bloomberg may be cutting into his support moving forward but he did stress the working class people and africanamericans, which is huge here. We are about 60 of the democratic primary electric is africanamerican. Hes been coming inandout of South Carolina forever. Its nothing to walk into a restaurant nowadays and see joe and jill sitting there, not politicking, not casting for vote but carry on their lives. That to me says something. We have Team Coverage with elex hogan, the impact on the coronavirus its having globally including international travel. We begin with correspondent, hes outside uc davis for one of those affected to unborn origin. Reporter good evening. More than 85000 people have contracted it so far, more than 2900 people have died. And forth screenings, travel bans on iran, china to all of these people do need to go through screenings if they come back here a lot of development we are seeing here today. Jon thank you. Mark Team Coverage and economic fallout from the coronavirus outbreak, straightahead. The food and Drug Administration says they will begin allowing academic hospital and to test for coronavirus. With a briefing in the situation room but by Vice President mike pence. You may remember hes President Trumps point person on the coronavirus, you see him right here from the briefing including the head of the cdc came to the Briefing Room to announce travel restrictions foreign nationals who vent in iran the last 14 days, cannot enter the United States in the area affected by. The administration think the highest American Travel to areas in italy, south korea affected the coronavirus. We are doing really well, very, very professionally handled. Reporter tough travel restrictions on those in china coming to the United States. He may consider putting even more restrictions on travel if necessary but hes not committing to anything now. The risk remains low. Thanks to the unprecedented actions President Trump has taken and the actions hes announcing today. The risk remains low. This could change rapidly. Weve always said on the first moment we have spoken about this that we would see more cases. We are seeing more cases. We will see more cases. Jon the president will meet with members from the pharmaceutical industry, this was a previously planned meeting but he said it certainly is convenient give and forth giving getting on. I discussed with the folks at the white house, the scene with the coronavirus. Jon thanks. Fears of what the coronavirus might do to the World Economy and the nation buzzing. The stock market, travel, tourism and oil and Gas Industries are already being impacted by the outbreak. How long it will last and what else can we do to try to reduce the effects . Joining us now, economics editor, john. John, i would to point our viewers to the wall street journal the other day, the title, fear itself is the biggest coronavirus danger. In that, the writer said democrats clearly see the covered 19th disease against President Trump perhaps turning it into a Hurricane Katrina in 2005. This could still be opportunity for mr. Trump despite the partisan catcalls. Voters are going to blame him for a slowing economy caused by the virus, they will blame him government response seems inept or it turns out to be much worse and he has advertised. What you think about the white house response thus far . I think its best for me to stay out of the politics of it. I think the white house, its easy to turn this on the president s outside looking in but this is really a Health Development and economic development. The white house obviously, i think apartment because the stock market hit so hard this week, it clearly has gotten the white houses attention. Jon i was struck by something earlier, the flu outbreak right now is much worse in terms of the numbers of affected and the numbers of dead with the coronavirus. The flu doesnt cause the stock market to drop more than 3000point why . Reporter its important to keep this in perspective and its important when youre looking at the stock market not to look at the stock market as some kind of calibrator of how seriousness this is. A lot of things were going on in the stock market last week. A lot of people came in to this year thinking there was going to be very low volatility in the economy, Economic Growth was going to remain very strong, a lot of positive economic stock markets and when we have this coronavirus fear hitting the market, a lot of them had to be unwound quickly. I dont think the sudden turn we saw in the stock market is an indicator necessarily that the virus is necessarily spreading and becoming more deadly, its a sign that investors were in a bad situation to deal with it. They spent last week changing their positions. A lot of people were out there saying dont panic, dont be so afraid and i think thats an important lesson and i think one of the most important indicators here is to say dont let the stock market drive how concerned you are about the health risk. The stock market is completely different. Jon wall street hates uncertainty. Thank you. 2020 democrats already looking ahead to super tuesday and fox news decision desk as eyes on five swing states. Well tell you which ones, next. Jon this is the fox report. The bottom of the hour, if youre just joining us, 2020 hopefuls working to win South Carolina today as they look ahead to super tuesday. Fourteen states and one u. S. Territory will hold their primaries, that includes delegate states like california and texas. For more on what lies ahead in a few days, attorney and fox news radio white house correspondent. John, when you look at candidate of the delegate count so far, weve got Bernie Sanders in the lead with 45 delegates, Pete Buttigieg behind him was 25 and joe biden, Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar, those numbers could change in a big way on tuesday. Thats right. We are talking about one third of the delegates on super tuesday. A significant amount over 1300 delegates altogether. The numbers we are talking about right now what we will see tuesday. Today in South Carolina, 54 delegate and this is a state that joe biden is hoping will reignite his candidacy. He hasnt had a victory yet, hes hoping to be in South Carolina tonight. Jon that compelled compared to super tuesday. Lets look at five states in particular. We are going to be watching california, the most populous state and has the most delegates up for grabs. 415. 228 in texas, 110 in North Carolina, colorado for 67. Maine has 24. Joe biden is hoping his fortunes can be reversed within South Carolina but hes got super tuesday to deal with. Thats right, hes hoping for some momentum. Imposing ahead of time that is looking in good shape for that. I think it helps that he got that endorsement earlier this week wednesday from congressman james, the third ranking democrat, house of representatives. Then we move on to super tuesday, the first time mayor Mike Bloomberg, former mayor Mike Bloomberg in new york city will be on the ballot. Hes betting everything on super tuesday, putting everything in terms of 500 million for these races which will take place on super tuesday. Hes sort of mixed results in terms of polling for some of the state you mentioned, in fact, if you look at the 14 states that will be up for grabs on super tuesday, Bernie Sanders, who according to polls, is leading and nine of them. That will give him tremendous bit of momentum as we go through the process. Jon if bernie wins nine states, does he become unstoppable . Well thats the concern, joe biden and Pete Buttigieg and Elizabeth Warren and Mike Bloomberg, that would be an unstoppable train if he should do exceptionally well on super tuesday. That is what Bernie Sanders is counting on, but this out of reach and make itself difficult for a number of these candidates to even raise money to compete with him. Joe biden said hes not doing well in the fundraising game and should he perform rather poorly on super tuesday, i dont see a chance for him if he doesnt have the money coming into compete against Bernie Sanders who would then be the front runner. Jon we have eight candidates remaining in the race after super tuesday. Some of them will have to drop out, what they . The big reason isnt just because they are not performing well, its also because, how do you get donors to contribute to your campaign if you havent performed well . A lot of those individuals who have not performed well so far in this contest for the democratic nomination, like Elizabeth Warren, shes not been in one or two for instance, even in New Hampshire, considering the fact neighboring massachusetts, i think she would have to rethink what the past for her is to be in the race to compete for the democratic nomination if shes not performing well on super tuesday. Jon had to be some rejoicing in the building behind you yesterday when a appeals rule came out on don mcgahn, he was the former white house counsel, congress wanted to subpoena to testify in the impeachment probe, the white house blocked that. The course at yakima the white house is within its rights to block that kind of testimony from the white house. A huge victory as youve mentioned for the white house for the executive branch, they maintain john mcgann percival had immunity from having to testify before congress. This divided the Circuit Court of appeals, didnt roll so much on that. They said its a political question and we are not going to get involved with a political question, a political argument taking place between the executive branch and legislative plants. It could still be appealed but the as it stands right now, its a big victory with the white house. Jon thank you. Kirk, joe biden has much of his campaign in South Carolina, does it appear hes in the position to win it . Most of the polls in the double digits in South Carolina so it looks like he could do well today but well find out more when the polls start. Jon he hasnt won any of the states in which hes completed so far. A politician who knows South Carolina well, none other than windy graham says joe biden will win there and he explains why. The primary is going to be 60 africanamerican and joe biden will win africanamerican congressman and joes beloved by the africanamerican unity. Socialism doesnt sell to anybody in South Carolina. When a socialist in South Carolina matter where you go to church are the color of your skin. At the bottom line, biden went saturday. Jon do you agree with our dispute anything the sender said . Senator graham knows politics very well. I wouldnt dispute his thoughts. It does look like biden is in good shape for tonight. Like i said, well see more when the polls close at 7 00 p. M. Looks like there contest will be secondplace between him and tom steyer. Hampshire and nevada, steyers has spent huge amounts of money here advertising, that could be a real contest. Biden certainly has the front runner. Jon its important obviously when you look at the count available to South Carolina, 64 delegates coming out of the estate but also becomes a launching pad into super tuesday. The top two finishers can go on to the big states like california and texas and say look at me, look how well i did in South Carolina. Certainly they could pick up some momentum going into super tuesday but theres a couple of factors to consider. Theres already early voting taking place, a lot is at stake. The wildcard is Mike Bloomberg. Hes not on the ballot here in South Carolina it hasnt in any of the early races. Hes also spending huge money in the super tuesday so the winter here tonight and whoever finishes strong second and third, hell have momentum moving into tuesday but itll be interesting to see what happens then. Jon how much appeal does Bernie Sanders have in South Carolina . You heard Lindsey Graham poohpoohing his possible appearance in the state. What you think about sanders chances . Reporter certainly didnt do well in South Carolina or years ago against Hillary Clinton. I think he put more time and organization into state this time. I think youll have a showing, if hes going to win but young voters like him, hes shown some support among older voters and he has momentum coming into the city. I dont think hes going to do poorly but as i said, i think biden is in a good position as primary. Jon covering government and politics, thank you for joining us. Thanks for having me.
