The best way to combat it is to seek it out every minute of every day expose every instance we find. And not just racism, but also sexism. Homophobia and every other kind of injustice, unquote. Although mr. Abdul jabbar doesnt know it that statement is dangerous. If his vision were to come true, we would be a nation of witchhunters. Who exactly is in charge of defining and exposing every instance of racism . Who . Do we set up a tribunal in salem, massachusetts . Sadly this kind of think something permeating the country. Americans are being punished for even donating money to causes some people dont like. Speakers are being cancelled on College Campuses if they dont uphold liberal orthodoxy or mandates. Race hustlers are branding people with whom they dont disagree with the r label. You want a divided nation, lets keep this up. The reason Kareem Abdul Jabbar was asked to write a column on racism is because of Donald Sterling the owner of the Los Angeles Clippers who has now been banished from the nba. As you know, mr. Sterling made harsh comments about blacks. He is finished in the court of public opinion. But feels it necessary to continue to speak. People are intimidated by evened thought of racism and around the world they call me from australia and london and they ask me, different media, are you a racist . Im not a racist. In his heart im sure mr. Sterling believes that but asking people not to bring black americans to his basketball games is damning. No question about it. But as talking points said firs, it doesnt matter to this country. Donald sterling is just one person. He doesnt reflect anything. A call for all americans to seek and expose racism is quite something else. Its a vigilante situation. Its dangerous. If you study history you know thats what totalitarian regimes do seek out opinions they dont like and punish them. Its apparent that Political Correctness has taken deep root in this country. Conservatives and republican students are targets on some College Campuses. They are objects of derision in much of academia. In the media much of the same. Political correctness dominates. Who is in charge of homophobe i cant. If you oppose gay marriage on theological grounds, you are a homophobe, you are antigay bigot. Thats what we are having now. You must see the danger of this social vigilantism thats being called for. Listen, bill, i hear you and i agree. I think social vigilantism isnt the way we do it. If you take a book from the pages of history in the early 1960s when television started to become populated in every single home, you saw africanamericans get attacked by dogs and fire hoses. Thats what rallied people to call it out. And we had a societal shift. And that is this time around. Societal shift. What i think is that he is being attacked by his liberal friends for appearing on your program for writing that first piece tore Time Magazine and now he is doing an about face. Severing about race. His comments are ridiculous and harmful for the country. He sincerely believes that the society is unfair. American society is unfair. Even though he said he loved his country and he himself and his family were given a fair shake and he did say that on the factor two weeks ago. He does believe that a lot of people not in his circumstance dont get a fair shake. And i think he is entitled to that belief. He is entitled to that belief. But heres the other thing. He doesnt go after naacp for example, for taking Don Sterlings money for giving him a trophy for being this great all american. They knew there were charges against him from the federal government where he paid those fines. They had no problem putting him on their stage. And, also, al sharpton had no problem standing next to him for these events as well. So i find his comments to be hypocritical. I think thats a good point, mr. Fowler. I mean, you have a lot of reverse racism. All right . And mr. Abdul jabbar is not calling that out. If you want to be vigilant and correct social you have to call it out on both sides. Make fun of Clarence Thomas call it out. Deneen is making it about organizations. Institutions, and people. And its broader than that just a couple hours ago i visited my high school that i went, to i saw systemic racism happening there not enough funding to go to help programs like debate and inner city schools. We have a serious problem. We could all work to address that that is how we fundamentally change this country and hatred and racism by finding ways to systematically. I will help your school if you tell me what school it is. If they are denied funding for extracurriculars, i will make sure they get the funding. Because, wait, wait, wait. If there is a school, a Public School, in america, thats being deprived of money, because its mostly minority students, we will correct that wrong. Thats not the norm, mr. Its distribution, all right, on the federal and state level equally among the schools because the per capita spending is usually higher in the poor neighborhoods than it is in the affluent neighborhoods. Calorie in and calorie out. Exercise. And basically it really is more about the foods you are consuming to burn off a 20ounce soda pop soft drink you have to cycle an hour and 15 minutes. Its not realistic to just really focus on diet and exercise. And our experts contend a calorie isnt a calorie. Very different. Sugar corrodes the body. You go into some of these fast food places and they are getting the 20ounce, you know, big sodas and im going its a killer. But i dont know if you are going to convince anybody, i dont know. Because its almost like cigarette smoking. Everybody knows its not good for you. But its comfort. It tastes good. Yeah, but you know, cigarettes, Tobacco Consumption has declined traumatically since advertising was reduced, you know, there are no cigarette commercials. Thats not going to happen with sugar. No but i do think. Actually some countries are restricting marketing to kids, especially during childrens programs hours because they get 21 commercials an hour and most of them are fast food. They are really shaping the way they perceive food and consume food. You know, michael and hopefully the goal of the film is to it just make people more aware. Because i think once they are educated they can make better choices. They can look at labels, they can determine what they are eating. As you see when things are sort of reengineered, he they often have the same amount of sugar and maybe 10 fewer calories and we dont think that is necessarily the answer. What the singapore i cantens singaporeens have done. If you have drugs in your bloodstream they could do mandatory rehab. Would you support that . No. Because mandatory rehab, as you say, doesnt work. It would take them off the street. I dont mind if a few drug users are on the street. Really . In a legal environment. They are mostly in their own homes. Punish. Or on the bridges or in the subway. Than me dont have homes if they are drug addicts. This has to did with the actual action of selling poison to people. Do you think thats a nonviolent offense . Its a violent offense. You are a former prosecutor. Former federal prosecutor. I have spriewted many assaults and Bank Robberies and all these things, time and time again, the drug sellers sell to the guys who take the drugs. They need money then to buy more drugs. They go to the bank to get the money. Or they assault somebody to get the money to pay for the drugs. The dealers say they are not responsible for that. Of course they are saying they are not responsible. Thats not the point. The point is it a Violent Crime . It absolutely is this cycle will not stop until the drugs are off the road. Its the gas in the car, right . Its what makes it run. Its sort of this perpetual circle of violence that goes around. When you actually look at the numbers from the bureau of justice statistics, the numbers drugs and crime it says in 2004 is the latest study that they have 49. 6 of state prisoners and 50. 2 of federal prisoners reported using drugs in the months leading up to the crime. He they are not going to stop using drugs if they are legal. It will just expand it. But it will take the financial pressure away somewhat because the drugs would be, i guess, less expensive. About 20 of these people say that they admit they selfreport that were going out and committing these crimes because we all know the drugs lead not only to crimes but child abuse and child neglect.
