Losing two firefighters in a tragic accident. The two firefighters were battling a blaze at an apartment complex when part of the structure collapsed and the firefighters were hit by debris. Two more firefighters were also injured in the incident, but the extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. Farmers, ranchers, and even contractors are breathing a sigh of relief following a ruling last week by the 6th Circuit Court of appeals out of cincinatti, ohio, regarding the controversial rules established by the environmnmtal otection agency ananthe Us Army Corps s engineers on the waters o othe United States. You may recall, we had talked about this issue nearly a month ago, when the epa was going to begin implementing its new set of rules which would have given the epa broad jurisdiction on many water ways, including the smallest creeks, farm ponds, grass waterways, and even erodible gullies. Several states, along with various agricultural organizations, had filed lawsuits against the epa claiming its new rules were violating the law. However, the Appeals Court decided to place a temporary stay on the implementation of those proposed rules by the epa. Chris the Iowa Farm Bureau Government Relations counsel says the decision by the court is a key step to stopping epas s oad definitiononf navigational waters. sot groenhagen1 41 1 tcue us suprpre courts precedent. as s id the 6th circuit, it was a 2 to1 panel decision, so it was a panel of judges.
