Crisp is in jail without bond. Texting while driving could soon be a primary offense here in iowa, as it is in minnesota. There the state patrol is cracking down on distracted drivers with 5 unmarked squad cars. Here in iowa, an officer has to observe another law being broken before they can ticket for texting. So far this year in iowa, there have been 108 tickets issued for texting while driving. In minnesota, almost 3500. But, right now, much of the state is focusing on the approaching snow we are expecting in the next couple of days.
