I think from doing an incredible amount of research and having one addict who was kind enough to share her journey with me, that really helped. You shot this in, what, three days . Three days. Its tense. Three days, yes. We were shooting out of sequence as well, jumping backwards and forward and drug addicted and holding down her addiction. What made you do something this intense . Its a beautiful script. For me, its a script that reminds us of our humanity and strips away all of these labels that society wants to put on us as black or gay and just as a fundamentally, we are all the same. That is the point. We are all the same things, love and connection. Even though its about a young black man and exploring his identity, its a lesson for at your decision to play it in three different characters which i also thought was interesting. Yeah. I think in the specificity of the world we thought if we are honest about this person and the world he lives in, people will respond to it honestly and they have been. I want to show how the world is changing these young men from our community, so we wanted to show ten years later he has become a completely different person but the actors have the same feeling in their eyes and people i think get into the soul of the character.
