The fbi says he committed a hate crime by causing Bodily Injury to a person based on the individuals race. Investigators say, in january, 40yearold Randy Metcalf assaulted a then 30yearold African American male at the northside bar in dubuque. The criminal complaint States Metcalf stomped and kicked the victims head after making racially disparaging comments and racial slurs. Authorities say he stole a vehicle from oelwein on november 8th, then stole another from rural sumner. Officials found it two days later in west union. One man went to the hospital with a gunshot 5 minutes before 10 oclock last night, police were called out to west 8th and leavitt streets for gun shots. Thats on the west side of the river in waterloo. When police got to the scene they found a man with a gunshot wound. First responders took him to the hospital last night. He is expected to be okay. 10 minutes before officers were called to that shooting, they were already on scene of an armed robbery. That was across the river at 1975 franklin street. Police say someone used a gun to rob rays supermarket. The waterloo Cedar Falls Courier says the clerk and the suspect both fired guns. No one was hurt the suspect ran away. The city adopted the ordinance two years ago. It penalizes Property Owners for police calls or criminal activity on their properties. An open house highlighted some changes a focus group is proposing. They were suspicious of activity in the clerks office. An audit found dillinger stole nearly 300 thousand dollars of taxpayer money. Even the mayor says he had no idea what was going on. In a small town where everyone knows everyone and you think you can trust eveyone and that temptation is there and people need to pay attention. State officials are withholding funding from an Energy Research center at the university of iowa over questions about how it has spent money. The center for global and Regional Environmental Research Works with researchers to study the impact of global warming. It operates out of the Iowa Advanced Technology laboratory on campus. The Center Receives tens of thousands dollars each year in funding from electric and gas utilities. But the iowa utilities board is withholding more than 772thousand dollars over concerns about how the center has spent money.
