Firefighters say flames were coming from the third floor of an Apartment Building on Waverly Place between sacramento and clay streets. Firefighters rescued one person who suffered smoke inhalation. Waverly place is shut down right now. Developing news of the east bay, all lanes now opened on southbound i 880 in san leandro after multiple cars were involved in a bad accident. Crash happened around 3 40 this morning near the Marina Boulevard onramp. You can see one of the cars ended up on its roof. Its unclear how many people were hurt but chp tells us those who were injured have minor injuries and are expected to survive. Breaking news out of france this morning, the country remains under a state of emergency after police shot and killed a man for allegedly trying to grab a soldiers weapon at the orley airport. Police say the soldier is part of a special force deployed around france to protect sensitive sites from terror attacks. People were forced to evacuate the airport. Police say the man also shot an officer at a traffic stop earlier and stole a womans car at gunpoint. The antiterrorism section of the Paris Prosecutors Office is leading the investigation. The mans identity is not known at this time. No other injuries at the airport have been reported. A man is in Critical Condition this morning after police say he was naked and acting erratic and led them on a chaotic chase across the south bay. It started yesterday afternoon when officers responded to valerie drive and eva court in campbell and thats when the chase was on. It ended 30 minutes later in san jose. Abc7 News ReporterKatie Marzullo was there. He raced down the road with about 10 Police Officers behind him. Reporter this witness saw the Police Pursuit come to an end on Stevens Creek boulevard. What he heard next sent him ducking for cover. I heard a popping sound and then the officer, i saw the officer firing into the vehicle. Reporter james shaw says he heard 12 shots. This cell phone video was taken just after the shooting. San jose police say it started around 1 30 when they responded to 911 calls from a campbell neighborhood about a naked man. He was walking kind of agitated about something and then all of a sudden he just took his clothes off. Running in the yard, throwing stuff in the yard, picking it up, running back to his truck, which is parked in front. Still naked. Reporter the women say he rents a room in a house an eva court and they dont really know him. They finally called police after another neighbor came home with her children. Went running towards them like charging the kids, naked, and these are kids are like fourth grade, and theyre all screaming and crying. Reporter when police arrived, they say the man got in his truck, rammed a parked truck and a police car before taking off. Officers chased him. He got into an accident with another car and ultimately broke down at the safeway. Thats where officers tried to take him into custody. During that encounter, multiple officers fired at the suspect. He was struck at least once. Reporter police have not revealed if the man was armed. The Santa Clara CountyDistrict Attorneys Office is investigating. In san jose, Katie Marzullo, abc7 news. Sky7 was over palo alto where police say this suv slammed into a bicyclist, send herg to the hospital. Our Media Partners at the east Bay News Group report police were trying to pull over the driver when that driver went down the wrong way, down a oneway street and ran over the woman on the bike. It happened yesterday afternoon at about 3 30 on homer avenue near emerson street. Police arrested two people after the crash. Three other suspects, a man and two women, ran away and were eventually found hiding in a shed. The cyclist went to the hospital with major injuries, including broken bones. She is talking and is expected to recover. President trump has vowed to crack down on undocumented immigrants. Now reuters is reporting that Immigration Judges are going to be moved around to target 12 specific cities, including San Francisco. The goal would be to speed up the deportation of undocumented immigrants charged with crimes. Abc7 News ReporterSergio Quintana has details. What the addition of more Immigration Judges means is that many people many more people will get deported. Reporter according to figures from the university of syracuse, in december, california had the highest number of pending deportation proceedings. But professor bill hing says more judges may not be the solution. The real problem is that, in my opinion, too many people are being put in deportation proceedings that dont need to be. Reporter hing says immigration officials and customs agents have broadened their interpretation of crimes, for example, driving without a license and agents have been more aggressive in other enforcement efforts. Even the chief justice o. California state courts wrote a letter to the attorney general and the secretary of Homeland Security saying i. C. E. Agents should not use california courthouses as bait to take immigrants into custody. These new strategies are stirring fear in the community and some organizations are trying to manage those fears. Secret service says a man from milpitas was illegally on the white house grounds for about 16 minutes completely undetected. Jonathan tran is accused of hopping over a fence at the Treasury Department eight days ago, vaulted another fence around the white house and moving right up to the portico where he jiggled the door handle. He didnt get inside and agents arrested him. Secret service has tightened security and has interviewed more than 50 people to try to get to the bottom of the breach. Workers for a bay area Solar Company who were just laid off got some more bad news. Their final paychecks bounced. Sungevity laid off 160 employees in oakland earlier this month. Our media partner the mercury news reports some of those employees last paychecks bounced when they tried to cash them. Sungevity blamed it on confusion at its bank and is working to fix the problem. The company filed for bankruptcy four days after the layoffs. Well, it was a little crowded at chrissy field yesterday and not just because of the warm weather. Work is underway to upgrade the popular promenade. That means a section of the east beach parking lot is blocked off with a fence. The National Park service will resurface the walking trail over the spring and summer months to prevent puddles and potholes. The work will happen in stages to avoid too much disruption. Caltrans has successfully destroyed a third of the Pfeiffer Canyon bridge near big sur. Crews shook the bridge back and forth with a chisel, trying to get it to fall. Its been a month since the bridge has been closed after landslides damaged both the support pillars and the bridge deck. Earlier this week, caltrans tried using a wrecking ball, but it wasnt hitting the bridge with enough force. Weve been chiseling away in a very methodical, kacareful, se way. We want this bridge to fall in the canyon the way that we want it to, not in an uncontrolled way. The most important thing is not the cost or the speed in which the work is done.
