He was familiar with the car thief. He said she had exhibited bizarre behavior in the past. Todays crash, not the first at the intersection. Thats like the fourth major accident ive seen in like six months. It happens all the time. People go through here 50, 60 miles an hour. Ive got three little kids. New details in the Southern California bus crash that killed seven people and injured dozens more. Investigators now say that bus had a history of break and maintenance problems. The crash happened yesterday in the San Bernardino national forest. Safety inspectors slapped the 17yearold bus with eight violations back in october. The bus was carrying a group of tourists from tijuana. They were returning from big bear lake. The ntsb will perform its own inspection of the bus tomorrow. The murder case of a millionaire has been postponed until wednesday. All four defendants were supposed to appear in court today but only raven dixon was there. A judge waived appearance business the other four defendants. Dixon is accused of giving the three men information that allowed them to break into the estate last november. He was robbed, then killed. His wife beaten. The Fairfield Police say they want the person who killed a 13yearold foster child identified and in custody as soon as possible. The classmates at Green Valley Middle School say theyre scared for their own safety after the teenagers naked body was found early friday morning at allen witt park. Police may be closer to finding one of the suspects involved in a violent Home Invasion in the south bay. A man resembling this sketch that you see here beat up an elderly woman and her daughter when they caught him and his partner trying to break into their car friday morning. The two men chased the women back into their home and assaulted the 74yearold mother. You can see the bruises on her face and on her arms. The women were finally able to escape to a neighbors home. A horrific ordeal is over for the 5yearold alabama boy and his parents after he was finally freed from a kidnap here kept him in an underground bunker for days. Jimmy lee dykes board ad school bus, shot and killed the driver and then took the boy to a bunker beneath his property. The fbi had been negotiating with dykes but those talks deteriorated within the last 24 hours. Dykes was seen holding a gun. The feds decided to go in. By the grace of god, you know, hes okay. That was the mission of every man and woman on this compound. Now, the boy is believed to be physically unharmed but it is still unclear what he endured in that bunker. The boy will be celebrating his sixth birthday this week. New at 11 00, a fight between city and state. For the first time the state Supreme Court will enter into the medical marn debate to decide whether cities can legally outlaw pot clubs within their jurisdictions. This all stems from a Southern California court case where a city, the city of riverside was taken to court by a dispensary claiming cities and counties cannot ban or restricted something the voters have already approved. As you can imagine, this is being closely watched in the bay area. I am having a hard time understanding why it keeps coming up. Reporter she has been using medical marijuana since it was approved. It would appear more cities would rather limit pot clubs or ban them all together. There are regulations already set up. Guidelines around it and i just feel like i think everybody that should be able to do what they want to do it. Reporter nearly three dozen bay areas have limited or banned dispensearies. What they decided is that cities have a choice. 14 cities have decided to ban them. Santa clara being the only one to allow it. Reporter they will be tested as the state Supreme Court will decide whether cities can have the right to restrict them. They decided to limit the number but wants the cities to have the final decision. It is disconcerting if the state rules cities dont have the ability to control when, how and where dispensaries operate. There are a impacts. Reporter some are closely following the state Supreme Court case tomorrow. They say if the state sides with the right to ban it will be a slap in the face of the voters. I would be very disappointed. As a voter i would not feel like my voice is being heard. This is something that has been decided 16, 17 years ago. 1996. Reporter they rejected having dispensaries in their city. According to the labor department, bloom energy brought mexican nationals to sunnyvale to refurbish generators but they paid them less than 3 an hour which went into Bank Accounts which went into mexico. That is significantly less than the california minimum wage. Talking to the mexican nationals, we did find that the employers were paying them but they were being paid in pesos which was equivalent to 2. 66 an hour. He said they were on visitors visas and worked from november 2010 to november 2012. They were ordered to pay them 31,000 in back wages and damages. They have to pay more than 6,000 in civil penalties. Neither bloom energy nor the attorney have commented. Millions flock to ski resorts right here in the bay area. These have been through a lot of trauma. Reporter rundown chair lifts to exposed metal poles. He can find it. He is a former ski patroller and Expert Witness who has been involved in several injury lawsuits against the industry. His findings became the basis for this Safety Record cart by the california ski and snow Board Organization. They gave letter grades raging from a b to an f. The problem with this report is that it was put together on a single day. Reporter the lowest grade in the lake tahoe area, d, given to donner ski rank for its lack of hazard warnings, signage and chair lift bars. The ski area declined to speak with us. Boreal Mountain Resort received low marks for snow making equipment along the slope. Blind intersections and padding facing the wrong direction. There were minor padding issues that we felt like we could correct. Reporter john slaughter of borial said ski areas do all they can to make sure customers are safe. From grooming slopes and reevaluating procedures. Once an accident has occurred to know what it will take to correct the situation. Reporter did you ever release that information . We did not. Reporter why . It is our company policy. We really dont have enough information to understand where the greatest impact can be made in materials of reducing accidents because we dont have the date. A. Reporter ever since dan gregory lost his accident in a steel board accident at alpine ski resort, hes been on a mission to get ski resorts to make Accident Data public. These accidents occur in these locations. What can we do to prevent them . Reporter it was gregory who started to ski in the snow Board Organization and came one the idea of the report card. Safety ought to be Good Business. Reporter he has sponsored several ski safety bills that would have required key areas throughout the state to establish Safety Standards and report injuries. Legislation ultimately vetoed by both governor schwarzenegger and brown. They said the measure was unnecessary and is already being tracked by the u. S. Forest service. When we filed a freedom of information request with the Forest Service asking for accident reports, we were told they do not track incidents in a way that would specifically identify ski resorts so they have no record to provide to us. The National Ski Areas association reported 51 snow boarders and skiers were seriously injured nationwide last ski season. Thats out of nearly 10 million who hit the slopes. 54 people died. We asked to see those accident reports. Again we were told theyre confidential. An inherent risk of the sport. There is nothing that we can do other than to make the resort as safe as we possibly can. The resorts need to be accountable to the customer. It is only Good Business to be concern about the safety and welfare of your customers. And we did reach out to the california ski Area Association to comment on dicks report. They told us the ski areas declined to participate because of the well known bias of the author.
