Police have made a second arrest in the beating death of a gilroy man. 17yearold Isabella Chaidez was caught smiling on surveillance cameras in an East San JoseConvenience Store february 16. Police say she was using the credit card of the dead man. A neighbors constantly barking Dog Alerted Police to the home of 56yearold Robert Heiser that very same day. They found his body inside. An autopsy concluded he died of bluntforce trauma. Neighbors are still stunned. It was horrible. He was a very, very nice man. We loved having him live next to us and its just very sad. The two in custody are 22 yearold Rodrigo Bejarano and 19yearold Gabriela Ortiz both of san jose. Rodrigo was already in custody but now faces murder and robbery charges. He is due in court next tuesday. Ortiz the following week. Investigators say she may have been involved in other similar crimes. San Francisco Police are adding extra patrols tonight after burglars smashed through yet another storefront. Three men shattered the front window of music lovers in Pacific Heights about 4 00 this morning. One witness says the mens faces were covered with bandanas as they stole merchandise and drove off. There have been six similar thefts in the past month. I know Electronics Shop owners are watching each others backs. They are kind of keeping an eye on each other and other ways and means to safeguard their inventory. Police say there are similarities between all these burglaries and that the suspects are experienced. An update tonight on the man who had his prosthetic leg stolen right out of his car he is now trying to make do with the help of total strangers. In fact, the young man works here at this prosthetic and orthotics shop where people come to get their legs to replace legs that they might have been lost. In this case his leg was stolen. I want to be participating running with the team. So more than anything i just want to get the leg back and get back out there. Reporter we first brought you his story last night. He is training for next years paralympics in brazil. He runs with a custom made leg worth 25,000. Somebody broke into his car monday night in the mission district, smashed the windows, and stole his leg along with a briefcase and a laptop out of his hatchback. The story has gone viral and several people on social media strangers have spontaneously set up fundraising accounts. They have raised thousands so far. Ranjit says he is overwhelmed and grateful. To think people who dont even know me are setting up accounts and raising money. Thats inspiring. Reporter for now, he has other prosthetics to walk around on but to compete, ranjit needs a new running leg, a process that could take several weeks once get fitted. In the meantime he will cross train, the coach says he will overcome this hurdle. Hes tough. Toughminded. Positive. And, um, it wont hold him back. Kpix 5s Christin Ayers is live at the scene with the latest. Reporter two lanes of eastbound 580 shut down at this point because of a nasty car wreck and what could have been a road rage incident. Its just right over my shoulder here. We are going to zoom in so you can see the state of those two cars. Two cars butted up against each other. One of them you can actually see the hood crumpled. Unclear who the sneakers blocked to on the hood. Authorities are saying one person was shot and has been taken to the hospital. Another person is in custody right now in the custody of Oakland Police. Authorities arent saying what led up to this incident. But we understand that there was gunfire exchanged on the side of one of the cars you can actually see a few bullet holes. But again chp and Oakland Police still trying to piece together what led to this incidents. There was a person of interest taken to a patrol car not far from here and being questioned. We dont know the state of the person who was shot or whether this began as a road rage incident or how. Oakland police are in fact in charge of this investigation right now which is leading us to believe that whatever happened started out on the streets of oakland rather than on the highway where chp normally takes care of these things. Reporter the ambassador mark lippert was giving a lecture at the time when the attacker suddenly attacked him. South korea media pictures show him bleeding from the face and all over his clothes. The injuries are not life threatening we are told. The attacker reportedly used a razor blade to slash at lippert. The suspect was arrested immediately. Lippert is a stanford grad who was named u. S. Ambassador south korea last year. Fairly popular guy there and even gave his baby a korean middle name. The man arrested for the slashing reportedly was upset about a joint military drill involving the u. S. And south korea. East bay m. U. D. Mainly local not as huge a problem. Marin county entirely problem no problem. But the city of San Francisco which relies on that snow melt to fill the hetch hetchy water system, it is a significant problem and the lack of snowfall we will see be a big issue toward the summer. Now the first generation of electric cars is middleaged but they may be about to give the used car market a jolt. There are going to be great deals for threeyearold barely used electric vehicles. Now three to four years later those leases are expiring and an estimated 25,000 formerly leased cars will hit the market this year. I hope they trickle in.
