The team wants to sponsor some Basketball Courts at the new Willie Brown Middle School in the bayview. But as kpix 5 reporter Jessica Flores tells us, the warriors shot at branding could get blocked. Jessica. Reporter were in front of where the school board will be meeting tonight and they are discussing whether or not the warriors can put their logo on the Basketball Court. The school board has a policy basically no advertising, no commercialization. They said no to nike and target but could make an exception for the warriors. The Basketball Court at willie brown, jr. Middle school has blank backboards, no names or not asphalt and most of the paint is the white lines. But if the Golden State Warriors have it their way, the team will brand the court with its logo. The warriors have done it dozens of times before at other bay area schools when the team donates to redo a court. But in San Francisco, they could be blocked from branding the court. We do not want to have a kind of quid pro quo. You pay, you get. Reporter San Franciscos School Board Member jill nguyen coauthored the 1999 act that prohibits corporate branding at schools. She says such commercialization can influence young mines but the board is consideration an exception and allowing the branding at Willie Brown Middle School. New at 5 00, rescue teams are trying to figure out how to free a dolphin trapped just off the shore in burlingame. This is happening just south of San Francisco airport. If you look closely, you can see the fin of the dolphin just barely sticking out of the water. Right now crews are using an airboat to try to rescue the animal. It is stuck in an area that is inaccessible by land or water because of that low tide. New video from over the weekend shows the animal circling the area. Its unlikely its still alive according to the officials. The search is on for three thieves behind an overnight smashandgrab at San Franciscos fishermans wharf. Some new video shows the suspect using a white van with a battering ram attached to it. Now, watch as they attach a pole to the rear before backing up and smashing through the windows of the store. The thieves then grab as much merchandise as they can fit into several large bags before driving off. It all happened just before 3 a. M. On leavenworth street. A store employee says it has happened before. Its not the first time its happened to this specific store and other people the same thing. Playing dodge em. Firefighters in Southern California are racing to keep a fire thats burning in the San Bernardino mountains from reaching homes at lake arrowhead. This morning, smoke and flames were burning just a mile and a half from peoples homes. Mandatory evacuations are under way. The fire has scorched thousands of acres of timber and brush since sunday. Firefighters say the strong winds have made it difficult to bring it under control. Meanwhile, a fastmoving wildfire burning in Monterey County burned another 6,000 acres overnight. It is now moving south toward big sur creek and double cone. Nearby communities are dealing one health with unhealthy amounts of smoke today. The wildfire in yolo county is 90 contained. Its been burning near winters for a week now. Several roads in the area are still closed. And the cause of that fire remains under investigation.
