Heres a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. Everything is moving at the speed limit this morning approaching the incline section but behind the pay gates the metering lights are on now. Heres lawrence. A dying cold front making its way through the bay area looks like its leaving behind a couple of light sprinkles and drizzle. Hidef Doppler Radar is tracking the system. Otherwise lots of 60s in the bay and the valleys. New video from hong kong shows some passengers being carried off a flight from San Francisco on the way to the hospital. Severe turbulence tossed passengers around causing several people to get hurt. Anne makovec is at sfo this morning with what passengers are saying after this terrifying flight. Reporter it was a Cathay Pacific boeing 747 headed to hong kong from sfo. It hit turbulence over japan about 8 hours into the flight. 12 passengers and crew were injured. Eight went to the hospital. A Flight Attendant was the most seriously hurt with a neck injury. Passengers describe the plane plummetting, turning sideways and violently shaking. You can see from these photos a mess left behind in the plane, the bins flying open, luggage strewn about the aisles. We spoke with one man on board who lives in india but does business in the bay area. He says the turbulence was terrifying. In fact he thought he was going to die. Extremely scary because it was throwing you up and down, sideways, quite a few people in front of me were thrown up from the seats, a few of them even hitting the ceiling of the aircraft. We had a couple of the baggage bins opening up and the bags flying out. Reporter this incident is now under investigation by the japan transport safety board. Thank you. There were 21 crew members and 321 passengers on the flight. In the ukraine, Anti Government protestors have built a barricade in Independence Square to keep police away following a bloody battle where 25 people were killing including officers yesterday. Kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran following developments from our newsroom right now. Cate, that deadly clash is drawing sharp criticism from the white house. Reporter not just from the u. S. But also the European Union. They are calling for sanctions against ukraine to curb the violence which is the worst the country has seen since the former soviet union gained independence. Its another day of violence in kiev after overnight talks between protestors and the government failed to end the fighting. Security forces raided the protestors campsite yesterday using tear gas, stun grenades and water cannons. Protestors responded with rocks and molotov cocktails. They clashed violently over the future of ukraine. This is a direct consequence of u. S. Russian relations both competing for a sphere of influence and also souring in terms of relations. Reporter the protests began in november when ukranian president Viktor Yanukovych rejected a plan to work with the European Union in favor of a 15 billion bailout from russia. We continue to condemn street violence and excessive use of force by either side. Force will not resolve the crisis. The state department has been closely monitoring the situation. Yesterday, Vice President joe biden called ukraines president urging him to find a way to end the violence. New this morning, the vote on a proposed surveillance hub to monitor the city of oakland is postponed for the next two weeks. The Domain Awareness Center would be a 24 7 Surveillance System designed to help Police Monitor the city through a number of cameras. The city council took up the issue last night but they didnt vote on it. Plenty of opponents spoke out, though, against the plan during yesterdays meeting. New video from hong kong shows several passengers being rushed to the hospital after they arrived from San Francisco. The Cathay Pacific plane hit severe turbulence over japan and people were thrown around the cabin for two minutes. Six passengers and two crew went to the hospital. A Memorial Service is planned for two chp officers killed in the line of duty. Brian law and Juan Gonzalez died monday. Standing behind walls of fire, demonstrators separate themselves from Government Forces using whatever wood they can find to fan the flames holding shields on what is presumably the front line. These people standing here for their future, their lives. Reporter among the protestors, cnns phil black has found these fireworks serve as an improvised weapon. These pipes, they use gas to propel fireworks, attached to molotov cocktails to get more distance and bigger bang. Reporter the makeshift weaponry includes more than just molotov cocktails. Simpler weapons pass up the line, bits of stone ripped from the streets of kiev. Ukraine president Viktor Yanukovych pinned the blame on antigovernment groups demanding protestors disentangle themselves from radical forces provoking bloodshed. This is an hes skalation of protest that began months ago when yanukovych backed away from a trade pack with the European Union opting for closer relations with moscow. A Study Suggests 70 of olive oil labeled extra virgin is not. A retailer in berkeley who sells the highend olive oil says the labels on some bottles are very misleading. Eastshore freeway 20 minutes from the carquinez bridge to the maze sluggish through berkeley. On the bridge this is what it looks like and traffic is flowing nicely from the incline to treasure island. Live look at the sensors through the Altamont Pass and the Livermore Valley. Very busy traffic through the Livermore Valley commute. It continues at 12 Miles Per Hour straight through so the heaviest traffic is at vasco and then conditions improve into dublin. By the middle of the morning we are talking mostly sunny skies and then looks like some breezy conditions kicking up especially along the coastline and near some of the mountain passes but should be mostly sunny into the afternoon. Then things settle down as we head toward the next few days. More sunshine and much warmer temperatures. High pressure now building in behind that cold front. That will help kick up the winds into the afternoon hours. Then it looks like that ridge is going to stick around for some time main even offshore winds. Plan on traveling today, 60s in the Central Valley this afternoon, 59 partly cloudy into the monterey bay. You can see our computer models showing you those clouds clearing out rapidly and by the evening should be safe heading only tonight no worries of any rain. In fact, were going to see some unusually warm temperatures the next few days. Cool coastside 50s and 60s inside the bay and valleys and over the next couple of days plenty of sunshine coming our way even some temperatures up in the 60s and 70s.
